For characters that were on the TDM and who were not accepted/didn't app, these characters will be considered dropped characters that were magicked away.

Night has fallen upon everyone. It's thus far been an eventful day -- you've met some new people, discovered some new aspects of yourself that weren't there before you appeared here (however that might have happened). The original inhabitants of the island have been working hard to prepare a few things. One activity might have been one you were a part of, but there's still time to get your hands dirty. A ▢ Brie has rolled out a large copper pot and created a pit on the beach. It's unrealistic to think everyone can subsist on the few foods she's collected from other words and boar jerky alone. She's got a few boar carcasses sitting on the beach that need attending to as well. Your characters can help feed themselves and others, and here's what needs to be done: Fire needs to be started for cooking the meat AND a large bonfire for light and warmth. The large copper bowl needs to be filled with water. Crabs need to be bravely collected from the bath house for boiling. The boar needs to be either cut up for kebabs or stuck through. Does your character know anything about spit-roasting? Any other helpful magical skills are welcome to help make food. Post feasting, there are dozens of crabs and a pile of roasted boar meet that are up for eating. Even if you didn't offer to help in making any of the food, they're open to eat it -- even if the true helpers may give you dirty looks. The boar is fine, if not a little bland and chewy, but it's probably better than the jerky. The crab is delicious, if not a little tasteless...there problem with the crab isn't exactly the taste, though. B ▢ The crab isn't a species that's immediately edible for most species, though your character will grow to get used to it eventually. For now, the meat isn't settling well within your character's system. Your character will experience sweats, a high fever, blurred vision, potential vomiting, hives...it's very obvious their body is rejecting the unfamiliar meat. This may also cause a bit of an issue with your character's powers. They're still getting physically and mentally acclimated to these new changes, so expect their telepathy and magic to go a little haywire.

It's almost completely dark outside when the next event of the evening happens. You're living your life when you see it out of the corner of your eye -- it's absolutely hard to miss. What you see is a large lit caravan, larger than even an army tank. It's bright white and shining, covered with golden, ornate details that emanate an even more dazzling sparkle. The entire thing is aglow, and it's quickly coming towards the large bonfire that's been made. It's not rolling across the sand, but instead it's floating, and so is a matching trunk that's sailing along next to a figure beside the caravan. C ▢ A tall, slender woman has also come along with the large caravan, quickly opening the trunk that eventually lands on the sand with a large thud. She's handing out sacks, very similar to the ones previously in the large lobster cage. These contain a parka, a type of candy of your choice, a bottle of water, a large shard from a broken mirror and a letter rolled up and bound with a roll of twine. There are two other thread options associated with this prompt: Genette's top level and her telepathy training post. Around the same time as Genette is handing out this new little goody bag, you suddenly receive a telepathic message. It might seem a little strange at first -- but on that note, what about tonight isn't strange? D ▢ The telepathic message your character will receive is a simple one: Hello. It shows up in text form across your character's line of vision and it doesn't go away until they respond back, though the message that's sent out won't go to the original telepath. Instead it will ping pong to a random person in the group. You've made a new friend! After you've met Genette, she's also got a few more supplies that she pulls out a small door in the base of the caravan. She's insistent that you only get two items, since there aren't exactly a lot of them to go around! E ▢ The last of the starter supplies are being handed out, and these are items that are more cumbersome or rare -- they may not be immediately useful for your character, but maybe you can make use of them somehow, whether eventually in another world or with your power. An electronic/technology: these can be as obvious as an MP3 player, as useless as a garage door motor or as scandalous as a Hitachi Magic Wand. If it can be powered by electricity or batteries, there's a tub of them. They're also partially charged if they don't need constant electricity to work. A fashion accessory: there are a lot of these, surprisingly. Flower crowns, belts, bras, shoes, earrings, other types of jewelry. Your character can look cute while suffering from crab vomiting. Books and stationary: maps of various worlds, books written in a myriad of languages (maybe even one you recognize!), writing paper, ink pens, gel pens, stickers. Any kind of stationary can be found here. Other household items: this can include cleaning supplies, furniture, and other miscellaneous goods. These won't be personal affects from your character's home, but they may be useful! Feel free to come up with unusual or alien items -- these have come from all over the universe, remember!

As the night winds down, it's recommended by Brie that you should probably go to be in your hut -- or at the very least get somewhere inside. There are a lot of people around the camp, however, so it's no surprise that there are a few people waiting around to get their fill of food and supplies before heading to bed. The noise of the new members and the light of the fire have attracted a very large pack of boars, who you'll later find make routine trips to the beach every night. Boar mating season has made the wild hogs rather testy, and the smell of food -- even if it's their own boar brethren -- have made them even more volatile. F ▢ If your character isn't quick to get inside tonight, they're likely to get a boar charging at them. The chances are doubled if they happen to be holding onto a food item. Female boars can leave a few bruises and trample you, but beware the males -- they've got tusks. However, it's not like staying up at night doesn't have its advantages. Once midnight hits, another species of animal makes its regular rounds across the base camp. In the sky, characters can see an Aurora Borealis-like sight. Instead of being dancing green and blue lights, however, the reality is that they are a massive species of space worm, and hundreds are wiggling past on their way to travel back home. They're shimmering and in every color imaginable, lighting up the sky with their magnificent hues. G ▢ The space worms operate outside the natural barrier of the hub, but they still are in close enough proximity to shed a film as they travel. If you're still awake, boars or no, you'll be in the middle of a shower. The film sheds from the worms and enters the atmosphere, creating multi-colored, sweet-smelling mists of worm water vapor. Worm water vapor is kind of weird, but it's also pretty cool. It's also calming, and that's a bonus. Inhale too much and you might become a little too calm.

[Jay immediately beelines for the pile of books and stationery, with half a mind towards looking for a notebook--there's a lot of new information here, after all, and he's going to have to keep track of it somehow. Currently, he's examining something that seems to have come out of the Lisa Frank collection, rainbows, unicorns, rainbow unicorns and all. There's even an attached set of glitter gel pens.

He seems amused, at least.]

Ryoji's still not entirely sure what's happening here, but if he's good at anything it's rolling with what life deals him. Even in occasions where maybe he shouldn't. He very much wants to be helpful, but he also knows literally nothing about food prep. So... off to collect water and crabs he goes, then.

The water, at least, is easy enough. The crabs are obviously another story, but Ryoji doesn't seem to mind. Even though with every pinch and nip there's a following 'ow!!' he still seems incredibly cheerful about it all.

Ryoji smiles and thanks Genette- two seems like a lot to him, especially since there aren't stores or anything around! Of course, the difficult part is picking what two things. After all, there is a lot to choose from...

Mostly, he's focusing on the electronics (he did become kind of attached to them, during his brief stint as a 'real' human), and the fashion accessories. "What do you think of these?" he asks, holding up a pair of earrings. ...Does he even have his ears pierced...?

The whole magic thing does worry Ryoji somewhat, even though he knows quite well the magic he held back home doesn't apply here. Or, well. That's what they've told him. He's still a little nervous about it, since he doesn't want to hurt anyone on accident. But maybe the best way to do that is to practice and make sure he knows exactly what he's doing.

Or, at least, as much as he can possibly know what he's doing.

Sometimes, it might just be Ryoji popping out of literally nowhere as he practices his teleportation. But once he's got that down... "Um, hello! Would you be able to help me practice something...?"

There's a nearly imperceptible furrow of Minato's eyebrows as he watches Ryoji get snapped at. It's a sort of new, exciting experience that he supposes has the other boy captivated, but it also looks painful, so.

He walks over, motioning for Ryoji unravel his scarf. ]

Waver has never had the unique experience of being ill and having malfunctioning magic. Never mind the notion of food poisoning from being on another planet, the sensation of sweat and fever making him feel as if he is in the tropics. The problem is that sweat is now coming off of his upper body as smoke, proper thick smoke, and the only way it is leaking out at present is through his shirt sleeves, his collar, his pant legs.

The coughing he manages is not from the sickness, but rather the cloud gathering in front of him. He can't even vocalize, lest he inhale himself (a stupid thing to begin with), and get so much stuck in his lungs that he might pass out.

The sense of telepathy sends Waver sideways for a moment, and he tries to plant his feet in the ground to make sure he doesn't fall over. Against all odds he manages, but his immediate thought is unfortunately broadcasted too.

A nice green parka was good, chocolate was better, water was practical. Waver had stuffed it all away in a little sea-green beach house he had claimed for himself. The last of the supplies were an even weirder hodgepodge, and he could not find himself making sense of why these items were selected. He had seen television remotes, things that would be cutting edge in the 1950s, and a few things he regretted setting his sights on.

His luck had proven strange too. One of the books was something in a script that he didn't know, but the illustrations within suggested it was some kind of mystery novel, and he had managed to get himself a handsome messenger bag made of brown leather. It looked a bit like he was playing at an adult, as his stature made the bag seem more mature and him even younger than he already was.

But the bag had compartments, and Waver wasn't going to question that. He stood aside, going through all of them.

"This is surprisingly spacious."

Sleep didn't happen.

Of course it didn't. The sheer enormity of the situation had finally washed over Waver when he tried to settle down for the night, and it left him in a panic. He had a Grail War to finish! Being pulled away from that was unacceptable, unforgivable, and what was the point of running from planet to planet anyway? None of this sounded like proper magecraft!

The part of Waver that craved Rider's wisdom (as much as anyone could call it that) told him the man would encourage him to embrace this. To open his arms and accept the fact that he now had the ability to see worlds beyond anyone's imagination, to go where so many had dreamed of in their lives. The rest of Waver remained stubborn and angry.

Unable to sleep and uncomfortable staring at the ceiling, Waver poked his head out of the door. He hadn't bothered to change out of the clothes he had arrived in, and his eyes scanned the area for more boars.

Certain that they were gone, Waver stepped out into the night air fully, his eyes immediately drawn upwards. The sky shimmered in what he thought was an aurora, but when he squinted, Waver was proven wrong.

The colors came from sloughing skin of something else all together. For a moment, Waver had no words.

When he did, there was only one, standing dumbstruck and looking skyward.

"Woah."

[Yuuko can't sleep either but for a different reason entirely. She's outside her own little beach house peering at the incredible spectacle before them. It's rather dazzling even to someone like her who has seen a great deal. Beautiful sights will always be beautiful no matter how many times you witness them.

A soft "woah" catches her attention and she can't help but smile brightly at such genuine awstruckness.]

It's lovely, is it not? We had something like this back home. If you went far enough north you could see rainbow lights. I wonder what causes this... judging by the world so far I say it must be magic. [She reaches out to touch this mist that's coming from the sky, curious if she solve the mystery. As magic savoy as she is she isn't that good.]

[ dave actually had like, a few mouthfuls of food earlier so he doesn't seem that interested in the activity in terms of a personal i'm going to eat sort of way so much as he drifts over to the hubbub out of a sense of curiosity and a vague desire to be near all the activity.

granted, he equally isn't sure he wants to be, but for the most part dave stations himself somewhat near the cooking fire on the sand, though he ends up sprawled on his back and looking upwards at the stars.

his shades are on; they're not his, but he won't take them off for anything now. ]

[Later at night, Dirk can be found on top of a cabin. He has kicked the roof down to flatten it, and now he's sitting there carefully balanced, with a battery charger and a Playstation. He has been systematically dismantling them, carefully taking apart the pieces and setting them in organized piles. If you Z target him, you may have a conversation with the idiot on a rooftop.]

Being towards the edge of the huts had a downside, and that was the simple fact that Waver was unable to get a good view of the not-aurora that drifted over the beach. Once he had picked his jaw up off of the sand, he began to walk along what might be everyone's front yards, his eyes afixed to the skies. The sight was incredible.

Something caught the corner of Waver's eye though as he walked, and he paused to absorb the whole of it. Man on a roof holding what looked like an awful lot of electronics.

"What're you doing?" he asked in a whisper, but it was more of a stage whisper that probably passed through the walls of the nearby dwellings.

[ Carla is still wearing her armor, a construction of shed beetle carapace fashioned sleek and form fitting. It gleams with a faint oil slick rainbow around its edges when the light catches it. Her fearsome helm is beneath her arm as she squints at the firelight. She's glad that night has fallen, and staring at the bonfires now she wonders how the absolute hell they expect to be stealthy with that thing burning. ]

Do we have no enemies to concern ourselves with?

[ Her voice is dry as she keeps to the edge of the light. ]

A.2 LIFELONG VEGETARIAN WONDERS WHAT THE FUCK THIS IS
[ Uh. She is looking at both the boar meat and the crabs with surprise. Honestly, the crabs as essentially sea insects look the most like something she'd eat, but... her kind don't eat aquatic animals, they tend to be saturated in magic that has seeped in through the water from the toxic aboveworld.... She sure as hell doesn't eat animal meat, and an already nauseated look crosses her face as the greasy smell of its cooking hits her nose. ]

No. [ She says flatly when literally any of that is offered to her. ] I will go out into the woods and find... something else.

[ Mushrooms will be the safest, she thinks. ]

X. A COMPANION FOR FORAGING - ONE TO TWO COMPANIONS ONLY PLEASE, ONE THREAD TOGETHER
[ If you too do not wish to eat that, Carla will tolerate a couple of companions away from the group, back to the woods they had started all of this in. It looks very different to her now in the darkness, she had been completely blinded when she had first awoken. Now she moves with ease, the reflectors in the backs of her eyes doing their work.

Her ears however are not used to the profusion of noise when walking in a wooded area, she keeps turning suddenly to peer out amongst the trees, jumpy even though all she's hearing are the footsteps of herself and her companion. ]

E. SUPPLIES! GET!
[ She takes a piece of jewelry, as the daughter of a trader she knows that sparkly little things are always useful for trading later. She is personally more interested in the books and the paper, especially books not in her own language. She'll be shopping the ones she has around: ]

F. BATTLE THAT BOAR - ONE OR TWO FIGHTERS ONLY PLEASE - ACTION ORIENTED, ONE THREAD TOGETHER
[ She is both more comfortable in the darkness as well as uneasy. She is patrolling the area aimlessly when one of the boars spots her. She freezes still for a moment, waiting to see how well it can see her in the darkness, what it thinks of her smell. She is no stranger at all to being challenged by a creature in the dark. She pulls her helm on in a swift motion, longing for her blades but this if this isn't a magical creature... she can handle it. She's certainly going to try anyway, facing off against the creature and its tusks in a coiled position, ready to roll to the side as it comes charging at her, snorting plumes of condensation into the cool night air. ]

G. WOW TOXIC WORMS GROSS
[ Finally, a bit battered and at last tired, she is sitting near the smoldering remains of the bonfires, contemplative in the darkness. She is watching as the strange colors begin to fill the sky... ]

I don't like that.

[ And she pulls her helmet back in abruptly, getting to her feet with arms crossed over her chest, backing up a few paces, observing. ]

[Waver turns to see who is asking the question, and he stops. That armor is something he has never seen before, the way it shines, the shape of the thing, the helmet. It is impressive, and he can only see it being a thing of terror in any other context.

He articulates none of those thoughts, and instead offers a disapproving sniff.]

Maybe the boars in the woods, but beyond that, who even knows what's here?

[at first, when the worm mist starts to fall from the strange lovely lights, he looks irritated by being sprayed with something unknown -- you can see him make very purposeful warding gestures with his hands, only to look even more irritated when they have no result.

(he knows he's lost his powers, but he hasn't tested what he does have yet. the scramble of people and unnexpected changes have been enough to deal with today.)

as the calming mist starts to take effect, though, his expression smooths, and he actually looks kind of zen for the first time today.]

...I suppose, out of all the ways to end a strange evening, this isn't so bad.

[The books catch her attention to. And even she is at a loss for some of the languages in them. And some she only recognizes from other people's travels and the gifts she's been given back. She glances up, having just browsing through the maps now, at the request for help. She might not fare any better but why not at least give it a try?]

[More than a little confused and worried, Yuuri accepts the task of looking for crabs, if only to give himself a distraction from the headache that's been steadily building at the back of his head since he arrived here. He wants answers more than anything right now, but there's no ignoring the pangs of hunger as the day's stress catches up to him.

Miserable and quiet, Yuuri manages to plunk two of the crabs into the bucket he'd grabbed before his luck finally runs out. As he reaches for the third, the crab makes its displeasure known and clamps its pincer down on Yuuri's fiinger.]

Ow! [Yuuri yelps, his cry echoing around the mostly empty bathhouse, and shakes the offending creature off. As he cradles his throbbing hand against his chest, the crab attempts to scuttle away, bumping right into the shoes of the nearest person.]

D.

[Though Yuuri had managed to avoid the illness brought about by the crab meat, he's got another problem of his own to deal with. As more and more people gather around to eat, the stronger the prickling of something at his mind gets, until it becomes unbearable. The food in front of him barely touched, Yuuri curls into himself, biting back a whimper so he doesn't disturb the people around him. When the telepathic message arrives, he snaps back a response with a little more force than necessary.]

Not a good time!

[He'll probably feel bad about it later, but right now, he's in too much pain to be civil.]

[As the others examine the goods Genette's handing out, Yuuri sits a short distance away, pointedly keeping away from the crowd. The headache's receded just enough to allow him to move around, but he still looks a bit pale. The book sits in his lap as he lifts the hair pin up, the light from the caravan catching on its surfaces and making it glitter.

When he notices someone looking at him, Yuuri lowers his hand uncertainly, looking like he wants to say something.]

Um... [Even just that one word sounds tired, and somewhat reluctant.] I don't want to bother you, but. Do...do you have a second?

B. - OTA, featuring Dave and Rose

[It’s after the feasting that he realizes perhaps mistakes were made. He’d had some of the crab earlier and thought nothing of it, but the first couple of bites from dinner left him with a shock to his system.

As such, anybody walking past on the beach will be greeted by Dave Strider and Rose Lalonde sitting side by side with John sprawled out with his head in a lap and his feet in another. Despite the fact he’s shiver-y and sweating he’s staring across the beach and should anyone approach the three of them he’ll still lift a hand and wave.]

This probably isn’t as bad as it looks.

[Oh. This again. He blinks heavily thinking that the text might be from food poisoning, but eventually he concentrates enough to reply.]

[At some point he manages to stumble away from his companions and he’s busy collecting things. He has the original pack from Genette, but that doesn’t stop him from entering to pick out other supplies. He finds himself pawing through stockpiles of belts and ties, books and papers and he even finds himself holding up an iron. However, what he ends up picking up is a fedora and he holds it in his hands, spinning it idly and ignoring his blurring vision. There’s a downpull of his lips before he keeps a hold of it, turning to anyone else picking their own items to strike up conversation.]

Wonder why these things weren’t in the mansion earlier. Or even where they came from, I guess.

[…why. Just. Why. He’s staring up at the sky and squinting at the space worms, leaning against the door frame of his hut. As the vapor rains down around him he finds that it’s actually fairly comforting on his feverish skin and instead…decides to lay on the sand again outside of his hut. Anyone else watching the show will find him there half-watching the worms and half-asleep. This could be a problem. Wake him up? Leave him for potential boar bait later? The choice is up to you.]

A - The Things You Pick Up On the Road

Rottytops takes a look over at all the food that was assembled and was starting to lick her lips. What's even better, she didn't have to actually go out and DO any of the gathering... well, aside from the crabs, but she had the feeling that somebody else was going to cover that job pretty easily.

But her eyes really stopped at attention at the sight of the boar. MMM. Now, after talking to that one dog-person, she really did start to get the hankering for some pork. And what's more, since everybody else seemed clueless of how to make it, Rotty found something that she could guarantee her part in the feast.

"Hey, if you're having trouble, I totally know how to roast that!" She mentioned aloud. "My brothers and I did it all the time while traveling in the caravan. Of course, I'm going to some strong folks to help me put it on a stick and rotate it." Her eyes look out to anybody that looks strong enough and asks. "Hey you! Think you can help us out? We can get this thing looking really nice by sundown if we get started right away!"

D -- Ping Pong Bizango

It takes her a few seconds, but after forming a few thoughts images that would probably just look like child's doodles of flowers and spiders, the zombie girl eventually gets the hang of it.

Hiya! Who is this?

E -- The Weird Horseshoe

Rottytops looks over at a few things, and while she is taken by all the jewelry and knicknacks (neat fashion accessories they are), the thing that really draws her interest is a black horse shoe. One tip of the horseshoe is covered with a red covering and the other side is covered in blue. Picking it up, the zombie girl immediately remembers on misadventure with the thing and decides that maybe it'd be a good idea to keep this away from others.

And she later found out it has a neat little trick of picking up anything metallic. So she might be going around trying to see what is and is not magnetized.

G -- Almost A Greeting

Quiet was always a little hard for Rottytops, and the quiet of this place was especially foreign. Were she in her caravan, she'd be hearing the rhythmic breathing of Abner and the loud snoring of Poe. The room also smelled different, with the foreign sea breeze only accentuating how bizarre everything was.

I wonder how they are. Rottytops thought to herself, running a hand through her hair. As she drew it away from her face, a flickering light, almost for an instant, twinkled through a small crack of a window. Curious, Rottytops stepped out and was greeted by the shimmering light of the space worms. She couldn't help but have a smile on her face. Without thinking she reached for the ledge of her roof and hopped on top of her house, dangling her feet over the edge and taking in the moment.

She grinned, momentarily forgetting everything how homesick she was for just this one moment.

"Hello to you too, world."

[Yuuko sees the horseshoe too but clearly didn't want it enough because it gets snatched up by this cute green lady. Which is fine she just wanted to look at it and see if it was made out of real iron and such.

Regardless of not getting a finger on it she is still going to make a comment because she has to in regards to its magical properties.]

Did you know a horseshoe is one of the most common and well known magical protection amulets out there~? [Well you do now!] They're found to be hung all over the world that I am from in hopes that it would protect the home and ward off evil spirits.

[Jake did not pick his electronic device for convenience or because it was smart. He picked something to distract himself with. So now he's sitting somewhere off to the side and playing with a remote control car of some sort.

The car is doing its best but Jake is not really good at this, so he keeps accidentally ramming it into things.

Like possibly your foot, whoops. He looks so upset now.]

[Despite being tired, Jake refuses to go back to the huts at the moment. He'd much rather stay here since at least there aren't as many people. He also rather likes the light show. He's never seen an aurora in person and this is a good substitute.

The fact that he is relaxing so much is not something he associates with worm vapour, so he doesn't think much of it. Maybe the lights are just making him calmer. He flops onto his back to keep watching the lights.]

So glad today is over. [Don't let the idiot fall asleep out here with the boars and worms.]

[That car definitely slams right into her foot, causing her to hop back and wave the injured body part to shake off the discomfort. It didn't hurt too bad, but now she's just focused on how tiny that car is. Then she hears Jake's apology.]

Hey, is this yours? Who's driving it?

[From what she knows of cars, they are driven by people. So she's picking it up to check to see if tiny people are inside. There are none.]

B. Watching the Chaos Unfold

[Joshua hadn't eaten. He didn't need to, what with being dead and all, and when his nerves were running wild like they were then he literally couldn't. He was certainly not in a good mood. Mainly because he was lacking most of his power. That was not something he was taking well, to say the least.

[For many years, it had been like a security blanket for him. Knowing he was stronger and superior to almost everyone else in the UG, knowing that his position was safe. He hadn't had anythifj like that before he became Composer, and those feelings were ones he grew attached to. Grew attached to the power, to the position he held, and now?

[Well, suffice it to say that was ruined for him.

[So naturally, he is the one who is spared when the sickness wave spreads. And he cracks a small smile, watching everyone around him. Well, maybe this would be something of entertainment value, at least. And so he lets it distract him from his thoughts.]

"Are you feeling alright?" [He says to someone who is clearly not feeling as such.]

E. Accesorizing for Practicality

[He's sitting at the campfire when Genette brings out the extra things. He is one of the first there, wanting he good pick of things.

[His eyes are caught by the accessories. They seemed to be the things which could have the most long term usage. Usually, Josh would pick something rather fitting his fashion sense. However, right now, he doesn't think he can care about aesthetics all that much. He is mostly concerned about practicality at this point, his anxiety about these circumstances currently what is getting the better of him. And for Joshua not be caring about aesthetics, he must be far more on edge than he realizes. He goes through the pile, until he eventually pulls out two objects.

[It's a kerchief, which, all things considered, is a rather fancy one. It's a midnight blue in color, made of some sort of silky fabric. It has a baby blue fringe on it, along with a pattern of various symbols along it, also in the same color. The other object he grabs is... a black purse? A rather embellished purse, and about one of the most girlish things in that pile. But having an object that would provide extra storage space was nice, and also he thought it looked pretty. He ties the kerchief around his wrist, an easily accessible location, and he takes a seat, bag in hand. If you pay close attention, you may notice he is gripping the edge of his seat hard enough that his hands have turned pale.]

G. Alone On the Beach

[Joshua had been inside for the past couple hours, and yet he had gone out. He knew it was likely dangerous, but he had it handled. If nothing else, he could try and use his newfound ability to hide, making it around without detection.

[You find him there on the beach. He's sitting on top of a large rock, still in the clothes he had when he arrived here. He is in a rather far corner, away from the huts, away from other people. He's leaning back on his hands, and his eyes are fixated on the sky. Or, more accurately, on nothing in particular. His eyes simply focus on the sky and the lights because he needs something to look at. His mind is elsewhere, still trying to process the situation.

He sniffs the air, smelling the odd smell in the air. It must be the mist that is gathering. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out the bandana he got earlier, tying it over his nose and mouth. He breaths through it, and he's somewhat more comforted by it. And it is like that he sits there. And he seems somewhat lonely.]

[To the side, the zombie girl is looking around and testing out what the magnet could pick up. So far she found it only worked on some of the jewelry and not all of it, and that it also didn't have any real pull on people and other organic things.]

[As she was wandering to test it on other different types of cloth material, her eyes notice the purse of the boy sitting in the chair.]

Now here's a guy that is confident in his masculinity. [She grinned.] That's a really nice pick, too!

[So much to do, and a lot of it makes Sapphire a little bit queasy. It's not that she doesn't eat meat on principle, but her life being what it is, getting that involved in the process behind it just isn't her thing - so she takes up a secondary chore, gathering up wood for a bonfire.

She can carry an awful lot of wood, and a good three of her Pokemon have hands for helping out, after all. She figures it wouldn't hurt to rope in anyone who looks like they're at a loose end, too, since there's only so many chefs welcome in the kitchen, and since she'd like to get to know some of the people who are stuck here with her. The invite comes with a pat on the shoulder, quick and casual to get their attention.]

Wanna help me an' bring back some wood to burn?

[What...what? What the hell is this. Sapphire stood agape, until her welcome present was shoved into her arms and she fumbled the letter open only to find that it was long and she really couldn't get even half a sentence in before it got unmanageable.

So she's a little frazzled when the message shows up, between the sick feeling and the general confusion and the caravan thing whose status as friend or enemy she's still unclear on. Her reply comes in loud, unfiltered voice.]

I - yeah? Hello? This is the psychic stuff again, ain't it. It's gonna be tough to get a quiet moment for thinkin' around here.

...Wait, aw, I - I can't tell what I'm just sayin' to myself and what I'm sayin' out loud...

[The warning about the boars is only encouragement for Sapphire - she still thinks they're interesting, and watching them at a different time of the day, while they're engaged in a different behavior, is a nice opportunity. Also, she can't sleep, as weird as the day has been.

She decides early on, as soon as the boars' interest in the camp's food becomes obvious, that her observation opportunity is going to be more like a night watch. The boars need fending off, and Sapphire has Pokemon who need to learn how to deal with this kind of opponent - a win-win. She patrols back and forth with her Blaziken beside her, picking up the debris from the feast and keeping an eye peeled for boar-bothered fellow arrivals. When one thinks to give her trouble, Chic's ankles burst aflame and the Pokemon warns it away with a flurry of kicks...]

[Waver jumps a little at the sudden touch, then turns to face Sapphire. He tilts his head slightly, not sure what about his build makes it seem like he is going to be good for carrying wood.

But it would be good to at least look like he's contributing to this.]

Did you have an idea of where you were going to look?

[It's hard not to notice the flurry of activity as everything is getting set up for dinner. It's also hard not to notice that there are several people doing several things. Moving around with a deliberate sense of purpose.

Then there's her, someone who - if she's every done something like a cookout before - certainly can't remember it. Standing all-too-conspicuously in and around this center of activity.

If you catch her eye right about now, you'll be greeted with a mixture of panic and desperation. Please tell her what to do.]

G.

[Sleep... doesn't come easily that night. The bed feels wrong, the sounds are all different. It's strange and her stomach feels all wriggly, and she keeps expecting to open her eyes and see the white walls of The Castle that Never Was. She tosses and turns. Her energy is spent enough that it feels like there's times where she may have dozed, but it was like she closed her eyes and opened them an hour later.

By the time she finally gives up on sleep and sits up, there's a light under the doorframe. Curious, she slips out of bed and slowly eases the door open. The sight outside makes her mouth drop open in a little "o." And so out she steps into the night.

She's never been out in anything like this before. It rained sometimes at the World That Never Was, but even then she'd only seen it through windows. The mist... it almost feels like she could tug on it? That new part of her that she's still reluctant to acknowledge. Though the longer she stays out here, the more her reluctance fades

At first it's like dew, forming in the palm of her hand. Like a little pearl, one that she can lift up and move about too, albeit slowly. Next she tries forming it on her fingertip, and that's when the fun begins, trying to draw and write things in the air. The mist falls away whenever it gets too far from her finger, but it's still quite pretty.

It's also probably the honestly happiest she's looked since she got here.]

[F.F. is going around grabbing crabs and feeling the pain, but she spots Xion looking a little panicked in the midst of things.]

Need something to do, kid?

[ A - first pull the head off. ]

[Lalli’s face is impassive as he cuts into the boar, peeling first the hide away from the meat, then cutting that free from the bones. The fact that he can expertly maneuver his knife while staring out hollowly ahead speaks to the practice he’s had in this type of thing -- though it isn't usually for the purpose of eating whatever creature he's carving into.

Well, with how little attention he’s paying, skill can't save him from what he considers to be another addition to his streak of bad luck. Lalli hisses and drops the knife, immediately popping his bleeding fingers into his mouth without a care for how filthy with dirt and blood they are. Because he's gross and sad.]

Mrh...

[If one catches up with him after this process has been repeated several times, they’ll probably see him poking around the abandoned parts of the boars. He might be running his cut fingers through the hides, or he might be picking off little bits of flesh from the skulls during his careful inspection.]

...can't just cook things with the hair on…?

[ B - tear away the skin. ]

[Here’s the thing about Hotakainens: most of them are huge babies when it comes to being sick. Lalli is no different, especially since he’s already had the biggest day known to man and is feeling extremely overwhelmed. He tries to walk away to hide on the other side of the island for a while, but with everything dragging him further into this hell on earth, he doesn't exactly make it very far.

Lalli ends up curled on his side against a tree, shivering and looking around with glassy, unfocused eyes. Is he dying? Kind of feels like he’s dying.]

Maybe...s’good that I’m…

[...anyway.]

[ E - cut the tail end off. ]

[Just playing around with his new toys, which...involves a lot of taking the batteries out of what will be a bullet vibrator unless I think of something that isn't a complete joke, and then putting them back in to be fascinated when it starts back up again. Who would have thought that bringing life to something would be so easy?

Also around him is an atlas from some alien planet made up mostly of water and tiny islands connected by bridges, and some pieces of boar jerky in case he gets hungry, I guess. Or to add to his offer of trade, when he’s grown bored with these useless maps and the weird vibrating thing.]

[ G - now make the batter. ]

[Calm is good. Calm is something he hasn't felt in a long time, even if he would have thought otherwise. This new feeling settling over him proves that it was more of a tolerance that he’d had before, and not real calm. So.

Calm is good.

Lalli makes his way up to a higher point of the camp and wraps his arms around his legs while he watches, and there he will remain unless dragged away, because even if he can feel the tension and adrenaline giving way to this mist’s effect, the night passes by before he even remembers to think about sleeping...and even then, he can't make himself do it.

But the calm was good.]

"The hide, from what I imagine, tastes rather terrible. Don't take my word on that though, if you would like to try it yourself, you may." [He is peering over Lalli's shoulder at his poking around, and he answers the thought that the Mage had said aloud. He places a hand on that same shoulder to get him to look up, and flashes him a (well-faked) smile.]

[Madoka has never really been very picky about food — she probably has her father's cooking to thank for that. and even if she didn't like something, she's certainly not about mention it to the chefs, especially when said chefs went through the trouble of wrangling all those crabs from the bath house. and so, even though something about the one bite of crab she has gives leaves her with an awful pang of homesickness, Madoka politely finishes everything else she's offered.]

[and she's fine, at least, until everybody else around her starts dropping like flies. the first ill person she happens across and drops to her knees next to will be the lucky recipient of her once-a-day healing magic. as soon as she's able to sort her thoughts and focus. hang in there!]

Oh, no — Please don't worry! I'm going to try to help you.

[a little while later, the bite of crab comes back to haunt her, though perhaps not as severely as others — you'll find her curled in the fetal position off a few yards away from the pit.]

[when she's feeling well enough to stumble away, Madoka eventually finds herself at the caravan, a stack of notebooks and pens under one arm, and a handful of hair ribbons of nearly every color imaginable clutched in her fist.]

[the chills have stopped, but somehow, as she thumbs through the different colors, Madoka feels even worse than before.]

[F.F. herself is ok already (how she got ok is pretty gross but she did it...) and now she's looking around to see if anyone else isn't doing alright. When she sees Madoka curled up, she approaches.]

Uh, this is just a bit like, uh... I've never worked with a full boar before, but it's just like carving like a turkey or something, right? Same concept. You take some meat off and then put it on sticks. [ Okuyasu stands before the many boar that are on the beach with a slightly worried expression on how he's actually going to do this. But he snaps his fingers as he points to the bodies. ]

Hey, but these are probably actually going to need to be skinned first, huh? ... ah. [ He balks just a little before sighing and rolling up his sleeves. ] Everyone's workin' real hard right now. There ain't time to get grossed out. So, this is probably right -- the skinning first. [ So he says as he goes to fetch a blade. ]

Ah, this, again, huh? Hello, hello. Is this, uh, anyone I know? Ah, right. I'm Okuyasu of Morioh. Though, if you know me, the last part ain't really needed, is it? Still, if ya don't know me, then there you go!

[ Sleep's a little hard what with being spirited away to another world.

The letter was -- it was kind of confusing to him. The girl, too. She sounded just too damn cheerful and earnest about asking for help. It didn't feel right to say "no" but at the same time, it doesn't feel right to say "yes." And the person in charge doesn't really fully understand what's going on, either, or that's what he got out of it. How is he supposed to sleep while all that's going through his head anyway?!

Not to mention, he was chased into the hut he's now in because of boars. With all of this, there's probably a lot of people that aren't able to sleep, either. Okuyasu doesn't think of himself as very smart and won't be able to rest until he finds out someone else is just as confused -- or at the very least able to explain things a little better to him.

Getting up, he leaves the hut to see a lot of worms outside the barrier. ] What is that?! [ Maybe it's good that he was up -- or, wait, is this any reason to panic? He suddenly feels kind of calm about everything. Yeah, this is happening. That's all right. Right.

He walks over to another hut to walk inside. ] Hey, you're awake, yeah? [ And he sounds a lot calmer than he should barging into someone's space like this. ]

[ So his task is to link with at least two people who are in some sort of pain. He looks down at his hands as he tries to think exactly how this is going to go. Thanks to the crab incident (and he is super glad that he was so fixated on the boar because he had to work so hard dealing with the damn boars that was all he ate); it seems like there are quite a lot of people that are in, well, pain. ]

The ability that I have will lessen that, then, huh? So, it'll be more like an upset tummy, right? Right? [ He scratches the back of his head as he wants to say that he really doesn't want to link to people that look like they're about ready to lose their cookies or covered in hives, but -- ]

If I can't handle this much... there's no point to learning how to use this power at all, right?! Right! [ Cheering himself on, he decides to first attempt to link with one person and then will work on the second. Here goes -- focusing his attention on one of the sick, he tries to manifest his ability and prepares himself for what he's about to feel. ]

[Sleep was kind of hard, yes. So he ate the crab. And he was in pain. And a side effect was powers malfunctioning, not quite working right - he didn't have the best of control in the first place given that he had it for about a day, and-...the good news is that he's not turning into a dragon. The bad news is that flashing on and off made it really hard to sleep.

And he just wanted a nap. Just one. He's a simple man. He's got simple pleasures. And so Okuyasu barges in and asks that and he assumes the obvious and so he says-]

I'm not reading you that book.

[Because that's what it has to be, right?]

[never one to sit idle, Sorey sets to work on cutting up some of the boar meat for kebabs--it isn't the most difficult task, but it keeps him occupied as he gets a better look around the beach. his curiosity about their situation and the people that are mulling about is clear on his face, but he tries not to stare too much. if someone catches his eye, though, he'll wave them over for a question.]

Do you know if there are any spices for this meat? Otherwise we're going to end up with a pretty bland meal.

[the books draw his attention at once, his enthusiasm for them only slightly dimming once he realizes that he can't read most of these either. with that revelation he tries to narrow down his picks to a few that look like they might be children's books--maybe there's a way to teach himself the language, you never know!

picking just two things is difficult, though, and a while later he can still be found sitting there debating between three different books, a mini coffee maker, and what might be a kindle. he has no idea what the last two do, but they look interesting.

g. rainbow worm mist
[with all of the excitement from the day, it's hard to fall asleep, which is pretty much the only reason he's still up and getting a rather startling spray of worm mist on him. for a second he tenses, not sure if this is something that would be considered a threat--and then it's apparent that they aren't doing anything besides being weird space rainbow worms. it takes a moment, but the mist does take effect and he settles, plopping down cross-legged on the beach to watch the worms pass by.]

Not too shabby for a welcoming party.

[Going through the books was one of few good things the day had brought, as far as Waver was concerned. He was always happy to have books, happier still to claim one as his own.

He had gotten his other bonus item already, but he couldn't help but leaf through the pages of all the others, curious if he could find any in languages he knew.

Upon seeing Sorey, Waver offers a polite nod of acknowledgement, the kind in bookstores and libraries to acknowledge a patron without disturbing their browsing.]

[If you need crabs, F.F. is your girl. She figures she may as well take one of the harder tasks since she doesn't mind getting fucked up to accomplish a goal. And if she feeds people, they will definitely like her! This is good.

However, she doesn't quite get her limits yet. Her abilities have been heavily dulled and she thought it wouldn't matter much. Well she has a bunch of crabs clutched in her arms for the boiling... and they are all still alive and pinching at her hands and forearm trying to escape.]

Ahah, these suckers. Not so tough are you-- ow, hey rude! [And then she takes that offending crab and chucks it in a random direction. Probably right toward some innocent bystander, aka you. WHOOPS.] Look out!

B (warning for gross...)

[Ok that crab is not agreeing with this body. Damn. Expelling it out of her system would be easy if she had access to her plankton, but it's no good. Something is blocking her from using them. She walks out toward the beach water and begins using the new power she was granted: healing with water. She has no physical scars, but the cooling power of her healing at least makes her feel better. But it's not enough. She needs to get rid of the crab meat right now.

...And then she takes clutches her hands, stretches out her arms and punches in her stomach, forcibly causing her to throw up bits of the crab into the ocean. Uh, hope no one needs water out of that right now...]

G

[Is the worm thing weird? Yes. But the vapor mist feels goddamn great, and F.F. is just soaking it all in as it comes her way. ...However she definitely takes in too much, wobbles and falls over on her back to he ground. Oops, someone got a little too calmed out by the mist.]

[ When he sees someone just kind of wander away from everyone (a lot of who are already sick), he does get a little worried. Sure, it's probably none of his business, but it also feels a little bad to leave someone to do that all by themselves.

Besides, he'd rather step away from a lot of the people that are getting sick. It's starting to make him feel a little sick, too. His color is getting a bit pale. She's probably also trying to get some fresh air by the ocean.

Huh, what's she doing? Okuyasu walks a little closer to get a better look at the water-magic, before seeing her punch herself in the stomach. Oy-- His hand is already out to try to stop her before puke splatters all over it and into the ocean. His color drops as he turns to vomit in turn.

Really hope no one needs the water. ]

[ After Genette has handed out the letters and other goodies, Qrow can be seen sitting by himself at the bonfire as he reads the contents of the letter. When he's done reading it over a couple of times, he crumples it up in his fist as he rolls his eyes. Clearly, he's not that excited to be here right now.

Interestingly enough, he still keeps the letter! Approaching him is also welcome - Qrow hates the establishment, not the people (so edgy, so emo). ]

Well, aren't we just lucky.

[ More free items! This time Qrow is a little more approachable, because instead of scrunching up nice letters, he appears to be... playing a videogame device?! That's right, out of all the small electronic items, Qrow has chosen a handheld 8-bit gameplayer device. It has around 100 games, but they're all generic, boring and most likely cheap knock-offs from the games we know in the real world.

Still, it produces a little fanfare sound as he beats his previous score! ]

Heh. They make it too easy.

[ He also received a pen, but who cares about that. ]

[ After an eventful first night, Qrow sits on top of his hut as he watches the... space worms?!? Okay. That's a thing now. It would be a peaceful sight if he didn't just finish the last drop of his flask. It's only a minor annoyance, as he knows which mansion he can scavenge for more booze, but for now he only groans and tosses the flask aside.

Be careful it doesn't fall on you! ]

[ ... that has akira's interest sparked. he watches for a few minutes from afar, listening to the far-too-familiar noises of some of the classics. after that, though, he heads over and is all but looming at qrow's side. ]

...Ah. How impressive. [ the score, he means, staring bluntly down at the handheld device. ]

[Haru won't complain about having to gather water for the pot. She would rather make sure they all had enough water for both the pot and maybe to drink too. The first bowl is fine, the second bowl...fine! The third? She seems like she might be having a little bit of a struggle. Though she's going to try not to show it, she has to help as best she can.]

[Let's hope she doesn't run into anyone with that huge copper bowl filled with water— that might be unfortunate.]

[She sounds thoughtful as she takes one of the pens and neatly writes out "PLANT DIARY". A gardening diary, perfect!]

[It's time to go inside and the thought of being chased down by a boar is not exactly what she had on her mind today. So after much thought she's going to enter the first hut she sees, poking her head in and then taking a seat somewhere that she won't get in anyone's way.]

I apologize for the intrusion, I won't stay here for too long.

[Though that might sound a little ridiculous, she should probably just stay put, right?!]

[He's watching for a moment while he's sorting through what looks like a pile of ties, curious what she's doing. Despite the fact he's still shivering from his fever he can't help but tilt his head as he reads over the word.]

Do they have a lot of feelings that need to be shared? [There's a nod to the front cover. A plant diary? He's really not sure what that means, but sounds right.]

[ it's a quite remark as he tries the boar, nose wrinkling at the unique taste. he's never really been the biggest fan of pork, and wild boar is definitely new to him, but he can't say he doesn't enjoy it. it's food and he's starving after the events of today. regardless of whether akira realizes someone is watching or not, he's going to murmur something under his breath. seconds later, his fingers catch ablaze and he idly begins using his fiery fingertips to roast the boar leg even more. how smoky... ]

[ the fact that words are imprinted in his line of vision and are doggedly sticking around is troublesome. more troublesome than the crabs or anything else thus far. ]

Are you the leader of the crabs?

[ ... because he might as well make light of the situation and the stranger. for now, anyway. it's much easier over this telepathy-text. ]

[ this is completely out of this world.

akira hasn't been able to sleep, so he's been siting outside trying to clear his mind (and his nerves). he's been fiddling with his hands, acclimating to the fact that they sometimes catch on fire. it isn't hard to realize the correlation, and with all that he's learned today, it does make sense. still, that's a bummer. telling jokes and accidentally catching himself on fire? that's lame. especially since as of late humor has been the easiest coping mechanism.

needless to say, the worms catch him a bit off guard. sure, he's seen some strange, strange things (home and here), but this is definitely on his top five. he furrows his brow at them, head angled at the sky, and kind of just really loudly starts talking. ]

Guess this is what they mean by a wormhole, huh....

[ and as to be expected, his fingertips glow a soft red, fiery and alive. ]

I'm sorry to disappoint you. I am not the leader of the crabs.

[She almost laughed, actually. Though she thought she might as well entertain the text that keeps popping up in her own line of vision.]

[Getting transported to a new world? Pretty incredible. Getting told he has to do chores? Not so incredible.

From what Tamaki has seen so far, Sougo, his unit mate, isn't here, which means his chances of getting threatened with a potato peeler are slim. Still, they're not non-zero, so he decides to go along with what he's been told to do, and heads to the bathhouse to catch some crabs. He's never seen crabs in a bathhouse before, but that must be something common in this place.

He can be found kneeling at the side of a bath trying to fish a crab out when suddenly, one of the little buggers gets his finger.]

Aah! Stupid crab!

[He sits up and promptly shakes the crab off his hand so hard it goes flying - hopefully not crashing into anyone.]

[The words popping up in front of his vision is surprising, but Tamaki eventually gets the hint of what to do.

This isn't how telepathy works in the movies...

[It's kind of weird, actually.]

F:

[Born and raised in Tokyo, Tamaki hasn't had a lot of contact with animals out roaming the wilderness. This especially includes wild boars.

He's still out by the campfire, trying to get more of the crab (he doesn't seem to be having the same reaction most other people are having - his immune system must be really sturdy!) when he first sees one of the boars. He wanders a little closer, curious. It's just like a big pig, right? Pigs seem kinda cute.

Or that's what he thinks, until the boar starts acting really aggressive. Tamaki backs up a step, looking around for help.]

Uh... what's it doing!?

G:

[After the run-in with the boar, it would probably be smarter to stay inside, but instead, Tamaki has foolishly come outside, staring up at the bright night sky, and the shining patterns from the space worms. It's not like the night sky at home, but it's still beautiful, and Tamaki can't help but watch.

He looks particularly delighted when the film starts to fall, holding out his hand and waving it through the vapor.]

It's like stardust...

[ Mitsuki's tired. This has been a very, very long day, and he's not even sure if hours here work the same way they do at home. He'd like to call it over but first he needs to make sure everyone's all right for the night and that goes extra for his two juniors.

It's no surprise to find Tamaki looking at the stars but it is a surprise to see that they look nothing like at home. He looks up and watches the patterns Tamaki's hand makes in the vapor instead of looking past it and considering what the unfamiliarity of the constellations might mean. ]

We've just begun to shine...

[And that is when you, yes, you, had a crab foisted onto you. If not a crab then a large...container of some kind fit for sticking crabs into. A pot? A net? Something. Either way, hold this.]

B: The lure of making bad puns is downright crabtivating.

[Obviously, Prompt A had been a mistake.

[He's talking about his left elbow, which is currently glowing like the cheerful morning sun, dawn having tumbled out of her bed and gotten to work. It's a really nice glow, really. Too bad the occasion.]

D: That wasn't a krilliant pun I'm sorry.

If you're asking about the scarf I'm sure there's something else there for you if you look long enough.

[It reminded him of a friend, okay?] And if you're asking about the book I doubt you'd want it.
