For characters that were on the TDM and who were not accepted/didn't app, these characters will be considered dropped characters that were magicked away.

Night has fallen upon everyone. It's thus far been an eventful day -- you've met some new people, discovered some new aspects of yourself that weren't there before you appeared here (however that might have happened).

The original inhabitants of the island have been working hard to prepare a few things. One activity might have been one you were a part of, but there's still time to get your hands dirty.

Fire needs to be started for cooking the meat AND a large bonfire for light and warmth.
The large copper bowl needs to be filled with water.
Crabs need to be bravely collected from the bath house for boiling.
The boar needs to be either cut up for kebabs or stuck through. Does your character know anything about spit-roasting?
Any other helpful magical skills are welcome to help make food.

Post feasting, there are dozens of crabs and a pile of roasted boar meet that are up for eating. Even if you didn't offer to help in making any of the food, they're open to eat it -- even if the true helpers may give you dirty looks.

The boar is fine, if not a little bland and chewy, but it's probably better than the jerky. The crab is delicious, if not a little tasteless...there problem with the crab isn't exactly the taste, though.

It's almost completely dark outside when the next event of the evening happens. You're living your life when you see it out of the corner of your eye -- it's absolutely hard to miss.

What you see is a large lit caravan, larger than even an army tank. It's bright white and shining, covered with golden, ornate details that emanate an even more dazzling sparkle. The entire thing is aglow, and it's quickly coming towards the large bonfire that's been made. It's not rolling across the sand, but instead it's floating, and so is a matching trunk that's sailing along next to a figure beside the caravan.

Around the same time as Genette is handing out this new little goody bag, you suddenly receive a telepathic message. It might seem a little strange at first -- but on that note, what about tonight isn't strange?

Hello.

After you've met Genette, she's also got a few more supplies that she pulls out a small door in the base of the caravan. She's insistent that you only get two items, since there aren't exactly a lot of them to go around!

An electronic/technology: these can be as obvious as an MP3 player, as useless as a garage door motor or as scandalous as a Hitachi Magic Wand. If it can be powered by electricity or batteries, there's a tub of them. They're also partially charged if they don't need constant electricity to work.
A fashion accessory: there are a lot of these, surprisingly. Flower crowns, belts, bras, shoes, earrings, other types of jewelry. Your character can look cute while suffering from crab vomiting.
Books and stationary: maps of various worlds, books written in a myriad of languages (maybe even one you recognize!), writing paper, ink pens, gel pens, stickers. Any kind of stationary can be found here.
Other household items: this can include cleaning supplies, furniture, and other miscellaneous goods. These won't be personal affects from your character's home, but they may be useful!

Feel free to come up with unusual or alien items -- these have come from all over the universe, remember!

As the night winds down, it's recommended by Brie that you should probably go to be in your hut -- or at the very least get somewhere inside. There are a lot of people around the camp, however, so it's no surprise that there are a few people waiting around to get their fill of food and supplies before heading to bed.

The noise of the new members and the light of the fire have attracted a very large pack of boars, who you'll later find make routine trips to the beach every night. Boar mating season has made the wild hogs rather testy, and the smell of food -- even if it's their own boar brethren -- have made them even more volatile.

F ▢ If your character isn't quick to get inside tonight, they're likely to get a boar charging at them. The chances are doubled if they happen to be holding onto a food item. Female boars can leave a few bruises and trample you, but beware the males -- they've got tusks.

However, it's not like staying up at night doesn't have its advantages. Once midnight hits, another species of animal makes its regular rounds across the base camp.

In the sky, characters can see an Aurora Borealis-like sight. Instead of being dancing green and blue lights, however, the reality is that they are a massive species of space worm, and hundreds are wiggling past on their way to travel back home. They're shimmering and in every color imaginable, lighting up the sky with their magnificent hues.

Thus far he has topped his own records. Eating strange crabs in a bathhouse is, surprisingly, a bad idea.

I am quite curious to find out what would happen if someone jumped off the edge, however.

[ she looks like she's half considering tossing john over to Find Out ]

I didn't eat them in the bathhouse. [It's grumbled and just for that he's gently kicking his heel but not enough to actually hit Rose? Somehow, simultaneously, he's also pressing his head against Dave's hand because that feels better than death.] It seemed smarter than the jerky water at least, and if I jumped off the ledge you would definitely come get me and also there is something on the planet keeping us here.

[Why does he know that. Surprisingly, not because he tried himself. He looks up at Minato though and gives him a short smile.] Can you believe this is the thanks I get for trying to rescue them?

[ Minato was going to eat the crabs in the bathhouse. He'd also fallen over the edge earlier and had gotten slingshotted back to land. He doesn't admit either of those things as he silently follows the conversation between the three of them. ]

Yeah.

[ Yeah he can believe that thanks, care in between the teasing. ]

Should I toss them off the cliff in retribution?

[ amazing his hand thing worked. ...NOW...WHAT??? dave decides to just. rub...john's forehead? he has no idea what he's doing no one ever took care of him while he was sick so he's winging it. ]

How the fuck do you know there's somethin' keepin' us here. [ EGBERT.........christ ]

Also, he probably still ain't gonna let you throw crabs overboard.

[ wow. she is not-quite-kicked. ]

They came from the bathhouse, did they not? And then you ate them. [ a pause. ] John, have you already leaped off the island?

[ said slowly. jfc, john. ]

Perhaps we should all ensure the crabs meet their grisly demise in the boiling bathhouse waters as they so desired, if we can't throw them "overboard" so to speak.

Oh my god, it was not me this time. [This time.] I talked to someone else and he told me about it. I haven't confirmed it myself yet. [But he narrows his eyes for a brief moment before they sort of settle closed thanks to whatever Dave's doing with his hand. It's weird but it still sort of helps? Being around his friends helps.

To Minato though:]

Throwing the crabs overboard still seems mean, but you can help me throw my friends overboard if you are up for it.

[ No... throwing John's friends overboard is what Minato meant in the first place but he didn't have the heart to tell them. It all works out, though. He straightens up and gives an unenthusiastic fist pump demonstrating how ready he is: not at all ]

Easiest way to confirm is to do it. You'll want to bundle up more, though. For padding.

I'm ok with not bein' thrown anywhere. [ because he'd have to jostle john to get tossed...lord. he eases his other hand over and shifts to rubbing john's temples absently. that is also a thing people do, right?

he keeps glancing towards rose to kind of gauge he hasn't horrible fucked up. so far she has not stopped him though. ]

It's such a pain to get tossed off of shit?

[ see throwing dave and rose is what rose assumed but john went with crabs so.

if rose not really looking weirded out counts as a gauge, take it, dave. ]

If we're going to be throwing us over the ledge, may I offer to just throw myself instead? Save you the effort.

[There's a small whining sound but it mostly sounds relieved? Mostly he's just uncomfortable and annoyed and mad that this is how he's spending his first real evening with his friends. So Dave can continue doing that, Rose can continue being a gauge, and...okay, he's miserable but there's still a tiny laugh at Minato's enthusiasm, or lack thereof.]

How far down do you think they could fall anyway? [Even though he's joking about throwing them overboard he's somehow shifting his weight to pin both Strilondes down for the time being.]

...A hundred feet or so.

[ It's more an estimation than a guess, but Minato doesn't let on any more as he undoes the straps of his watch and holds it out to Rose. ]

If you time the fall, you could math it into distance.

[ Might as well, since she's offering, he supposes. Seeing as Dave doesn't want to jump, and John honestly should just stop talking being as sick as he is, they can stay behind and break Roses' fall when she comes hurtling back. ]

Rose...

[ he can't tell her not to do something because it's rose, but he thought she'd been joking about the offer. there's maybe a note of concern hidden beneath the drawl, but to be fair earlier that day she'd died and dave isn't eager for a repeat performance.

he keeps up the temple rubbing though? ]

[ ok she didn't expect her offer to be taken up on. this is what she gets for bluffing. she hecked up. she hecked up and has regrets.

but after a moment, she says, ] All right, that sounds like a plan. [ and shoves john's legs off her lap to get up and take the watch to time the fall. listen she made the offer now she has to make good on it. something something she's a badass bitch something something stop her ]

This is an awful idea.

[ she's probably a doomed version of herself anyway, she's already dead, etc this is fine. it's fine!! it's stupid!! she is just going to walk to the edge of the beach, turn on the timer and just. fall off the edge of the world. bye??

well bye for a few minutes anyway until she gets slingshot back to land, yelling ]

[Rose? Rose no??? Oh gods they all fucked up and Rose is heading for the edge and okay, yes, he feels like warmed over garbage but this is his friend?

There's also a brief sense of panic because a.) he just watched her die like not long before they all arrived and b.) he only heard about this from someone else, he doesn't actually know how this will work? So Rose moves his legs and she's walking to the edge before he's scrambling to sit up and darting to the edge.]

Rose! [Except okay, hello, Rose is catapulting back up and he's going to have to rely on Dave catching her. Thank god that worked? That's great, that's perfect, everything is fine!!!

...other than he moved way too fast and way too much, so he's just going to sort of settle to his knees and lean over the edge to casually throw up. The betas are a mess, news at 11. He's going to stay where he's at leaning over the edge of the beach, but at least he's able to speak up loud enough.]

No more suicide missions. Did that actually work the way you thought it would? [And because there are priorities:] And where did you even find a working watch?

It's okay to change your mind and say no. It's okay to listen to that little voice in your head telling you it's not fine and it is stupid and maybe awful ideas shouldn't be followed through with?

But this is okay too; the plan hadn't gone entirely amiss and Minato won't be charged for manslaughter today, telling Rose to jump off a cliff.

There's a moment's contemplation of unloading his entire inventory for something of the sort inside that's sort enough to help break her fall; he knows he has half a bag of cat food in there, several loaves of packaged bread, a folded up parka— but there's also a sword somewhere in there, and a large piece of glass, so... Dave, it's on you. ]

...Yeah. [ Yeah, he says as he watches Rose hurtle through the air. He hasn't moved an inch. ] Same thing happened to me. The watch is mine, from home.

[ well. dave had been trying really hard not to jostle john. that entirely flies out the fucking window when rose stands and goes to the cliff edge, though, sorry john egbert - rose lalonde takes priority the second she tries to do something dumb as fuck that scares him half to death or entirely to death.

when exactly does that stop being a hobby of hers?

so. that. probably didn't help with the moving too fast part because he's out and at the edge as quick as he can manage at not-flashstep, and of course he'll catch her and just cushion the fall with himself?

however he is then not letting go while grumbling incoherently in what mostly seem to be swear words? ]

[ in rose's defense she didn't to be slingshot back to land with such force?? she had been entirely sure something would be in place to prevent mass suicide of unwilling "coven" members or whatever, but. she expected a fall and a gentle, like, float back onto land. not to be ricocheted like a boomerang. when she slams into dave, she may or may knock him down but at least she isn't horribly heavy?? she is screeching a little tho.

after a moment she'll toss the watch back to minato. her voice is a bit shaky, ] Well! Now we know.

[ it's been a Long Day and she just wanted to make up for being useless and dying earlier before she got here. at least she can lowkey take note of reactions to seeing someone jump off the edge of the world for analysis??? if she. remembers to after her heart stops pounding against her rib cage. ]

[This has been such a long day what the fuck. Dave's moving, John moved, Rose at least gets caught by Dave and John's still on his knees at the edge of the beach and staring down into the void. He can hear what's going on and he's trying not to laugh in sheer relief that Rose is okay, but he's also thinking on what Minato's said.]

Did you fling yourself off the edge, too? Or is that a Lalonde special?

[What if he just slides into a position to lay on his stomach and close his eyes, letting his arms dangle a little. What if.]

[ Why are the betas such a mess. Minato doesn't want to be the responsible adult in this situation, making sure people don't die, that's not the side of the conversation he's usually on. ]

I didn't fling myself off.

[ What if Minato pockets his watch and walks over to John so he can get an arm over his shoulder to be dragged back to Dave and Rose before Dave freaks out about more dead friends. ]

I went to see the underside of the world, and fell.

[ haha yeah dave's not letting go of rose? she definitely knocked him over even with as steady a stance as he could manage, but he does haul himself - and rose - to his feet. his expression is remarkably calm all things considered but his heart is racing and she's close enough to tell. ]

Can we maybe make a rule no one else flings themselves off of shit? Thanks?

[ give him a few minutes to ascertain rose is fine.

he will just kind of hug her in irritation. ]

[ sorry john?? sorry dave?? sorry you're the adult minato?? ]

Did you catch a glimpse of the underside? I was couldn't see much.

[ the fall was not as graceful as she'd planned, they may have heard a scream of AH FUCK during the fling back. she lets dave haul her up, though she sort of just wants to lay on the sand for a minute. that was unpleasant. ]

I think now that we all know the outcome, we at least should be spared further flinging attempts. For now, at any rate. We may want to re-test our flight capabilities at some point.

[Sorry you're definitely the adult, Minato. But John's up and even when he's up he shoots Minato an embarrassed sort of smile before he draws into himself and focuses on walking back to his friends, waiting for Minato to follow him back away from the edge. He stops in front of the other two, narrowing his eyes briefly.]

You are not flinging yourself over the edge again. [A glance to Dave.] And you're not either? Both of you are staying on the sand while we figure stuff out. [And then back into the sand he goes to sit, though he shifts his gaze to Minato.]

But that is a good question. Did you see anything on the underside?

[ He would rather John be the adult, doing a fine job of laying down the ground rules with a certain decisiveness Minato appreciates. ]

Rock. Sand. Space.

[ He shrugs; nothing of note to report. It was as if the earth were flat, and falling off it one way meant little more than having everything be turned upside down and having gravity haul him back over to the proper side. ]

Flying would make things simpler though. Can you?

Not currently. And if we test that shit, we won't do it by jumpin' off things, sister dearest. The team leader just said so, and we all know we never completely ignore his words.

[ they like ignore john's directives half of the time like a pair of cats? this is a blatant lie? ]

I meant off a small building or boulder, not the edge of the island again. Also, we always ignore his words. Don't lie, Dave.

Interesting. I wonder if this island was merely cut from a planet or shaped as just a piece of floating land. [ it's kinda weird? ] We usually can fly, but here? Not so far. Our powers have been turned off or rather replaced with these new abilities.
