Who: Anyone
Where: Anywhere
When: Day 41
Open/Closed: Open! Geir will tag responses to B only, but feel free to use any or all of these prompts for your own shenanigans ☆
A (the rain in Spain falls mainly on the...)
[you know that the strange seawater rainstorm at the festival two days ago flooded out the marketplace and part of the city. the question is, how far did that rain fall over the hard, sandy soil that surrounds the city of Aimintas? what kind of erosion happened? perhaps you have a hankering to go out and see the effect that the water had on the crags outside the city, or the humid plains covered with native plants. there are four directions to explore, north, south, east, and west: which way will you go and how will you get there? fliers and adventurers, take notice!]
B (how does your garden grow?)
[Geir, at least, is more worried about the plants in the farmed area. he doesn't know much about plants, but he has a vague idea that sowing fields with salt is something one does to one's enemies. since these plants are irrigated with freshwater, more salt rain is not likely to go well for them.
right now he's glaring at a small plot he's dug out out with his talons. he's seeded some of the bark from the strange shrubby filtration plant into it, trying to check if that will help the soil deal with the salt water, but he's run into a problem: there are no plants there yet.]
--can you plant seeds? My claws aren't small enough.
C (after the storm)
[the festival aside, there was a lot of damage to the Palai city -- like, a lot. so many bloody fights happened in the streets, so many powers got deployed, so many giant fish landed on buildings... the damage is considerable, and now that they've buried their dead and celebrated their victories, the Palai who aren't making weapons are out and about repairing their city instead. any characters who show an inclination to help are promptly given piles of bricks and mortar and wooden planks, though they might want to ask each other or the Palai for help and direction to repair things...]
D (rain rain go away)
[there are a lot of different reasons to go swimming in the strange overhead ocean right now. maybe you're trying to find out why the rain fell from it a couple of days ago, or maybe you're checking to see what the frozen Uvi fortress looks like. maybe you even want to go visit the strange island above the waves again -- who knows what there is to find?
or maybe you just want to go wrestle sharks in there. go wrestle those sharks, no one's judging.]
E (free fall)
[come up with your own prompt and run with it!]
((quick links -- the world doc is here for ideas. if your characters want to try something cool and you need mod input, comment here with your question, and if your characters go ahead and do the cool thing, let the mods know here!))

b!
Yeah. [ a small nod, head canted to the side. ... dragon. ]
Not sure how much they'll sprout, though.

Geir shifts uneasily. this is still strange for him to admit, but... he saw it enough over the last week to know it's true.]
Things tend to grow around me.
[he hastens to add:]
Just a little! Just sprouts! But sprouts should be enough to test something out, right?
no subject
Sprouts, huh? ... It could work.
[ he gives a nod, the weirdness of a talking-dragon wearing off. he has a talking cat back home, this is fine. ]
Where are the seeds and I'll plant them for you.
no subject
[the dragon hooks a bag of corn or corn-equivalent, whatever the Palai use, towards him. he helpfully indicates which patch to use.]
You've seen the filter bark, right?
no subject
[ from what akira knows of saltwater, it seems like it'll have to be pretty sophisticated in order to separate out the salt. ]
[ but.... he goes for the seeds anyway and starts placing them where indicated. ]
no subject
[Geir curls carefully around the whole patch, his volunteer included, and uses a large bucket to water the seeds with freshwater as they're planted. maybe he can at least do this little to make them grow...]

Veeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrnnnnnnnnn!

Geeeeeeir.

[he pulls back enough that Vern can get his balance and STARES AT HIM EXPECTANTLY. you need to prepare yourself, Vern. to BE SURPRISED]
no subject
What. What? What have you done now.
no subject
[Geir is absurdly proud of himself. it's hard to acquire presents when you're an enormous dragon with no fine motor control or money, but that's what asking random strangers for favors without shame is for, and that? that he can do.]
I hid it over where I was digging. Come find it.
[gently nudges Vern in the direction of his experimental sprout patches instead.]

B
I could. How many?
[ Maybe it'll ease his restlesness a little. ]
no subject
after a moment, though, Geir dismisses the effort. what does it matter?]
Just a few rows, in this patch. I'm trying to test something...
[he nudges at a large pile of the shrubby, bark-heavy filtration plant that he's gathered from the flat lands and crags around Aimintas; then looks doubtfully at the furrows his claws have carved into the ground. it's an attempt at a vegetable patch, at least.]
Do you know anything about gardening? I want to be sure I'm doing this right.
no subject
Not much, I'm afraid. But soil, seed and water should be the basics...
[ He trails off, tilting his head in contemplation before crouching down to try and seed some of the furrows. His arms are cleanly bandaged up to the wrists, but they don't really affect his careful movement. ]
no subject
Water's what I'm worried about. You were out in the rainstorm the other day, right?
[Geir crouches down to watch what Julius is doing, curious. the earthen furrows aren't spaced right or at the right depth to be ideal for the kinds of seeds they're planting, but Julius probably can't tell that either, and at least they're well-turned soil... it's probably good enough for this test.
can Geir smell blood under the bandages?]
no subject
I was. That was salt water. It can't be good for the plants.
[ The smell of blood is there, but it's faint - to suggest that whatever wound there is already healing. ]

[Trying to do things alone with the Palai is a huge pain. You might notice Jake is trying to get a pair of Palai to talk with him about something but looking exasperated. When he sees you, whether or not he knows you, he'll hurry you wave you over.]
There you are! Yes, good, see? [He says, turning to the Palai.] We really do wander off and it's fine. [Then, to you:] Will you help me, um, put the screws to them in the gentlest manner?
[D1 | Skyward]
[While he still has access to flight, he wants to investigate the ocean above. But he's hesitating on doing it alone.]
Um, do you... would you— Um, that is, would you like to see what all the fuss is about for that queer rainfall?
[ooc: mod reply to these questions here for more details on what we're working with!]
Skyward
The rain? [Give him a moment to glance up to the sky, then back once more.] I've been wondering about it too, but do you think we can figure anything out from here?
no subject
Oh! Um, well! I was going to... [He pauses. Actually, it's a stupid idea now that he's about to say it out loud but oh well.] ...I was going to fly up lickety-split and take a look and then dive back out. Um, do that a few times? Until I can see what's... going on?
no subject
Fly? Like actually fly?! That's amazing! [Look how bright his smile is!] You'll definitely be able to go see what's up there!
If you can fly, do you think you can swim in the ocean in the sky too? Maybe it's like a normal ocean and you can float on it!
no subject
Yes! It's not too difficult, actually, which is, um.... really good, since swimming isn't my forte. [Though he hesitates a second, like he wants to say more.] But, um, well— I was, um... a little anxious going alone?
(no subject)
(no subject)
SORRY FOR THE WAIT, AHHH....
no subject
Uh...You might have to elaborate on what that phrase means, but yeah, I think I can help.

[he turns to the Palai like he's half waiting for a response, his interest officially piqued]
D1!!
[Lenka tilts his head at him after waiting patiently for Jake to finish his meandering sentence -- he's been rather curious about the fuss when it comes to the rain too, not to mention water from the sky seems to bode ill in a place where water is the sky. But he can't fly or teleport, at least not reliably (not reliably at all), so... he's been grounded so far.
It's frustrating, but there's also so much to deal with already at ground zero that he hadn't had as much time to think about the weather. Still.]
I guess we should. I don't know how much help I'll be, but if you know how to get up there...
[Like, he definitely has never fought underwater (fighting in rain doesn't count, right) and he is pretty sure refrigerators are harder to operate underwater. Oh boy.]
