Who: Jay and you!
Where: Out and about on the hub island
When: Days 115-118, or thereabouts
Open/Closed: ota!
a. coven organizer coming through
[Jay's plans were put on hold by the sudden appearance of the spirits and all the chaos that came with them, but now that they appear to be gone again, it's time to take stock of what new needs they, and the changing of the seasons that seems to be occurring, might have brought to the coven. He'll be making the rounds of the beach huts and any other residences he knows are populated, knocking on doors with a stack of forms and a notebook in hand:]
Hello. I was just wondering if there was anything you needed at the moment.
b. out and about
[Other than that, you might find him:
i. down on the beach trying out some makeshift carpentry--he's attempting to build a little shelter for the map crate he placed on the beach some weeks ago, to protect it from the elements.
ii. weeding in the mansion garden or the one Haru's planted near the forest;
iii. out with the fishing group in the co-op, teaching newcomers how to use the freshwater tackle he salvaged from the abandoned house;
iv. wandering throughout the island, taking notes in a little notebook.
He'll stop and greet you with a wave if you approach him.]

We can account for the telepathy and dreams. The bones we had surged, but they didn't lose their power. Correlation may not be causation, but it isn't unreasonable to view telepathy as a kind of circuit running through and Qri, its power source. An alteration to functioning on the circuit could indicate something happening with the power source. All other elements held constant, then that indicates Qri may have done something with the Eltos bones.
Except that not all other elements were held constant. The moon had an effect on the entire are as it moved towards its closest point of approach.

[Thoughtful, not really a question. He considers that for a few moments.]
It's certainly not something we can rule out. The primary effect of the moon seems to have been . . . spiritual, if you will. That could tie in to the lowering of boundaries between individuals, as in the shared dreams and telepathic thoughts . . . although it wouldn't explain why those things stopped. I think you're right that Qri almost certainly played a role.

Ghosts, zombies, flowers, and apparently angry deer.
What do you make of the ghosts?
no subject
I strongly suspect they're people who once lived on this land. But you probably could have guessed that. Beyond that . . . I wasn't able to communicate with them, so I don't know. They seemed like ordinary humans living in a relatively peaceful time.
[Almost to himself:] I wonder what happened to detach this place from its planet. If that is how it got here.

... What're you writing there?
[ he sounds a little unsure of himself, voice wavering, but he does look curious. ]

Observations about the plant life on this island, mostly. Hello, Jude.
no subject
[ ... jude isn't as good at this as jay is. he's very clearly visibly uncomfortable, rocking back and forth on his heels. ]
And you've been doing all right?
no subject
[A little pointedly, although his expression as he looks up from his notebook is pleasant enough. He's ignoring Jude's discomfort.]
What about you? How have you been faring on this island?

magilou hasn't been actively seeking him out after the dream incident but she hasn't exactly been avoiding him either. that whole scenario had been odd and it was better left unsaid. not talked about. but she is surpised to find him at her hut's door. well then. ]
Oooh, room service, now? How sweet of you!
[ sorry jay. sorry. at least she isn't wearing her stupid hat. ]
no subject
[He seems in good humor, though, although he definitely isn't talking about the dream.]
I'm mostly here to make sure no one's starving to death. You don't look like you are, so I suppose there's no need to worry about that. Hello, Magilou.
no subject
That's awfully presumptious of you. Maybe I am secretly withering away before your very eyes and you just cant tell!
[ unlikely but sure... anyway! ]
Any word on when we're gracing a new world with our presence?
no subject
No, apparently Qri hasn't been talking to Genette, either.

...not really? Why?
no subject
Qri brought a lot of people here who aren't necessarily used to having to survive in the wild. I wanted to make sure no one was starving themselves to death or anything.
no subject
Oh.
...I'm kind of hungry?
no subject
[He raises his eyebrows.]
Are you not getting enough to eat? If you're having trouble finding food, we can help with that.

Hi! What are you building?
no subject
Hello, Moon. I'm trying to construct some sort of covering for this map. [He gestures to the crate with the tacked-on map.] I'd like to be able to leave it out without worrying it'll be ruined in the rain.

... Oh. You're the mapper. The one... teaching Madoka how to fight.
[ she looks him over again, making no attempt to hide it, then closes her eyes and dips her head slightly. ]
I don't believe there's anything we particularly need at this juncture... [ but then again, she's always been relatively minimalistic in living needs after leaving the hospital. ...ah. ]
Though, I suppose warmer clothing may be prudent in the future. None of us know how cold it might get, do we?
no subject
[He looks, if anything, amused as he gives her the return glance-over, although his expression turns serious when she mentions needing clothes.]
Ah, that's a good point. [He appears to think this over, cocking his head to the side.] There's a storage room in that house out west that has clothes and household supplies; it might be worth looking through there more concertedly to see what we could use. Other than that, I don't know what we might use as materials for heavier clothing . . . animal hide, maybe, if we can figure out how to treat it. I can talk to Brie and Genette, too, to see if they've passed a winter here.
no subject
[ And she can't actually carry more than fits into her arms anymore, at any rate. But what can you do.
Her head tilts briefly to indicate what he himself happens to be carrying around. ]
Is that all you're keeping stock of now, though?

Unfortunately the child can't speak just yet, not human words, but it is holding onto him for dear life while regaining its senses. What the heck did she just hit? It felt harder than a tree....maybe.]

It'll stare at him for a few moments, noticing features that were different from her guardian. He had different colors on him. She'll be reminded of Nike's explanation over individual and aesthetic beauty. It's importance. She was beginning to understand that concept behind it.
At having been asked a question though, it'll simply stare at him, not really having much to say until it felt better. Which won't take long because it'll shake their head side to side. No, sorry, Jay, it doesn't speak yet, but does understand. More or less, anyway. It'll make a motion with their hand to indicate it kinda does understand speech. Some of it.]
