[Jay's plans were put on hold by the sudden appearance of the spirits and all the chaos that came with them, but now that they appear to be gone again, it's time to take stock of what new needs they, and the changing of the seasons that seems to be occurring, might have brought to the coven. He'll be making the rounds of the beach huts and any other residences he knows are populated, knocking on doors with a stack of forms and a notebook in hand:]

[Other than that, you might find him:

i. down on the beach trying out some makeshift carpentry--he's attempting to build a little shelter for the map crate he placed on the beach some weeks ago, to protect it from the elements.
ii. weeding in the mansion garden or the one Haru's planted near the forest;
iii. out with the fishing group in the co-op, teaching newcomers how to use the freshwater tackle he salvaged from the abandoned house;
iv. wandering throughout the island, taking notes in a little notebook.

He'll stop and greet you with a wave if you approach him.]

[Jay gives the girl a cheerful smile. If he's noticed that there's something weird about him wandering around knocking on everyone's door, he doesn't let on.]

Qri brought a lot of people here who aren't necessarily used to having to survive in the wild. I wanted to make sure no one was starving themselves to death or anything.

[ She can easily knock out a boar and kill a crab with her strength, but she doesn't know how to prepare her own food. She's been eating berries and jerky and occasionally asking certain people to cook for her... maybe she's not fully satiated today. ]

Are you not getting enough to eat? If you're having trouble finding food, we can help with that.

Can you make crablettes?

[ And she just asked Flynn the same question the other day... ]

Can I . . . make . . . crablettes.

[ A nod. Yes, that's what she just asked. And she's going to keep staring intently, waiting for an answer. ]

[Right. Well, this isn't the oddest request he's had. She reminds him a little of Grune, in a way.]

That depends on what exactly crablettes are. But I wouldn't advise eating the crab.

Crab omelettes.

[ So many people on the island don't know the finest dish... ]

Why do you advise against it? Do you hate crab?

Eating the crab causes fever and hallucinations.

[ Huh. She'd never heard of crab that can cause some bad side effects. There goes her hopes and dreams, maybe. ]

...Did you eat the crab?

I didn't. But I observed the effect it had on others who ate it.

So I can't have crablettes?

[ Suddenly looking extremely distressed over this. ]

[Oh, no, he doesn't know what to do with a distressed girl.]

I-- [He hesitates, looking around as if someone might rescue him from this.] I wouldn't advise it, no. I don't think we have eggs here anyway.

[ ...She makes it sound like she doesn't have any other option. Well, she has been eating other things. She's just desperate for the taste of her favorite food. ]

[Dryly:]

I recommend a balanced diet of meat or fish, starch, and fruits. As balanced as you can get in this place, anyway.
