[Jay's plans were put on hold by the sudden appearance of the spirits and all the chaos that came with them, but now that they appear to be gone again, it's time to take stock of what new needs they, and the changing of the seasons that seems to be occurring, might have brought to the coven. He'll be making the rounds of the beach huts and any other residences he knows are populated, knocking on doors with a stack of forms and a notebook in hand:]

Hello. I was just wondering if there was anything you needed at the moment.

[Other than that, you might find him:

i. down on the beach trying out some makeshift carpentry--he's attempting to build a little shelter for the map crate he placed on the beach some weeks ago, to protect it from the elements.
ii. weeding in the mansion garden or the one Haru's planted near the forest;
iii. out with the fishing group in the co-op, teaching newcomers how to use the freshwater tackle he salvaged from the abandoned house;
iv. wandering throughout the island, taking notes in a little notebook.

He'll stop and greet you with a wave if you approach him.]

Most likely. A matter for when I know the others here better, perhaps.

What was the last world like?

Aimintas? [Although technically that's the city, and not the world.] We arrived close to a large underwater city inhabited by a race of anthropomorphic lizards known as the Palai. They were . . . rather worshipful of us, to be honest. They had connected us to their "Days of Blessing," which rained down technological advancements on them from the ocean above.

... Convenient. That you did not have to deal with hostility from the natives, I mean, while apparently harvesting their magic?

[ Was it lucky, or does Qri specifically seek out worlds of this sort? Hmm. ]

. . . honestly, we barely had to 'harvest' the magic at all. It literally landed on top of us. [ . . . ] Genette thinks Qri might have some sort of future-sight. I certainly see why.

. . . Even more convenient.

[ evenly, but almost wryly: ]

Why need all of us, then? To... carry it?

To pick it up, I suppose. There was quite a lot of it, and grouping too much of it together could have been dangerous.

[He pauses here and says, lightly, almost offhandedly,]

Although, as for that--we left a great deal of it with the Palai. There wasn't much of an attempt by Qri to make sure we were doing her bidding.

She seems to offer us a lot of free reign, despite having pulled us here for an explicitly stated purpose.

[ Blandly. If she has any thoughts on the matter they're apparently not to be found in the delivery of that statement. ]

Do sources of concentrated magic react poorly to each other, then?

She does. It's interesting.

[He sounds just as noncommittal about that.]

You might say they react too well to each other. These artifacts--they were bones carrying a kind of electric energy--amplified each other. It was impossible to handle more than ten or so of them at once.

How dangerously so, then? Was this relayed to you by Qri, or did someone have to discover this firsthand?

[His mouth twists a little.]

No, Qri only spoke to us to tell us to collect the bones; we had to find out the rest ourselves.

The bones fell on us, so to speak, because of an explosion above us. The Uvi had a water-bound lair there where they collected these bones, and I can only assume that attempting to bring too many of them together resulted in the destruction of that lair, as well as the Uvi living there.

So someone did discover firsthand- just not anyone from the coven, fortunately.

[ Almost musingly. 'How convenient,' once again, that it was an enemy to reveal this to them. ]

I suppose clairvoyance isn't particularly far-fetched, considering.
