Who: Jay and you!
Where: Out and about on the hub island
When: Days 115-118, or thereabouts
Open/Closed: ota!
a. coven organizer coming through
[Jay's plans were put on hold by the sudden appearance of the spirits and all the chaos that came with them, but now that they appear to be gone again, it's time to take stock of what new needs they, and the changing of the seasons that seems to be occurring, might have brought to the coven. He'll be making the rounds of the beach huts and any other residences he knows are populated, knocking on doors with a stack of forms and a notebook in hand:]
Hello. I was just wondering if there was anything you needed at the moment.
b. out and about
[Other than that, you might find him:
i. down on the beach trying out some makeshift carpentry--he's attempting to build a little shelter for the map crate he placed on the beach some weeks ago, to protect it from the elements.
ii. weeding in the mansion garden or the one Haru's planted near the forest;
iii. out with the fishing group in the co-op, teaching newcomers how to use the freshwater tackle he salvaged from the abandoned house;
iv. wandering throughout the island, taking notes in a little notebook.
He'll stop and greet you with a wave if you approach him.]

Too bad it won't get to do much other than wiggle around, trying to be free of the taller human's clutches, not that it will be able to do much as an incoming message will be easily heard throughout the area.]
Hey? If anyone is out there, I'm searching for my small Palai child. She's a female lizard, blue scales, golden eyes, and kinda had freckles. Goes by the name of Airis. Please let me know if you've seen her, I'd appreciate the assist.

What did I tell you? [And telepathically:] Nike? She's right here. I've got her.
no subject
Good to hear! I've been searching all over the place for her. Keep talking, and I'll be over in a jiff.
[Having telepathy was very useful especially the current version she was using felt different to the one she was accustomed to back home. It was clear after learning to actively communicate that her version was connected to emotions and intuition than being used as a mental means of actual communication. She could follow the telepathic string as long as her partner remains connected to her.
Almost on cue, sensing that Nike was arriving, Airis will continue to struggle against Jay's hold. The thought of using her teeth to escape was almost tempting until realizing it would make the problem worse than it already was. After a while she'll become limp, awaiting for her fate.]
There you two are!
[Arriving to the scene, watching Jay holding her, Nike will lean over, staring at her lizard child with a frown.]
How many times have I told you that whenever you cause trouble to face the consequences instead of running away? Not only is it the responsible thing to do, but you'll avoid getting hurt or worse!
[Airis will look down, feeling slightly ashamed of herself. With a sight, she'll turn to Jay with an apologetic look.]
Sorry. She didn't cause you any trouble, right?
no subject
No, don't worry about that. She was quite well-behaved, aside from whatever led to her running away in the first place.
[He'll hand Airis over to Nike, saying to her.]
You should be careful. There are much more dangerous things than me in the forest.

Nike's smile will weaken at the mention of having had lost Airis. It was tough not to feel a little bashful about it, but..]
She can be quite a handful. With her being as strong willed as she is. Sometimes it leads her to all types of trouble.
[Right now, she didn't have the energy to properly punish her in front of Jay, but he needed to know.]
She stole some of the food the group scavanged today. I doubt it was her first offense neither.
[Airis will hid behind Nike's neck, not wanting to admit her wrongdoing. Unfortunately, Nike had other plans once she reached for the smaller lizard, turning her in Jay's direction.]
What do you think would be the ideal punishment for a clever lizard? Other than a time out?
no subject
[He's not outraged or anything, but he's keeping a serious face as he addresses Airis. That's probably what a responsible "coven leader" would do.]
When you steal food that the co-op gathers, you're taking away food from people who need it. People who might not be able to gather their own. That's not something that we can tolerate if we want to keep the coven running smoothly.
[He turns back to Nike.]
Can she gather food? I think putting her on co-op duty would be a good first step. She can work to replace the amount of food that she stole.

Nike's gaze will turn stern upon noticing the way Airis was looking at Jay. Not liking the look one bit. Her attention will return to Jay upon his suggestion on the best way to discipline her without having to resort to hitting her unlike her grandmother used to do when Nike was around her age.]
I've been sending her over to Haru's group once in a while. She can fish and capture small critters for bait too. I'm waiting until she's old enough before sending her over to the hunting, scavenging, and cooking groups. [More like until her lizard grows taller than older. Nike can't help wonder the amount of time it'll take until she reaches human size.] Good idea. I'll sent her to the gardening and fishing crew all at once for the next week. That should be more than enough to replace the food, right?
[Then again, she has no idea of the amount of food Airis has stolen, so it was difficult to chose an exact time frame for this.]
no subject
I hope she hasn't caused you too much trouble aside from this.

[At the very least, Nike has been mindful over the best way to raise her. Keeping in mind her culture and the usual habits to watch out for. She wanted her to go beyond the limits of her race by finding herself, but...]
I just never knew raising a kid would be this difficult. There's a lot to be mindful over.
