[WORLD ONE | OCTOBER INTRO LOG]
Who: The new coven members and old blood
Where: In and around the hub island
When: Day 92
Open/Closed: Open to All
All characters are told briefly what their powers are by Genette -- no extemporaneous details. For instance, if your character has the ability to detect lies, they'll be told as such -- no warning about limitations, repercussions or the like. They'll also be given a variant of this letter so they aren't totally ignorant of the situation -- though of course adapt this letter to the current setting and surroundings of the game.
Where: In and around the hub island
When: Day 92
Open/Closed: Open to All
This setting may be familiar to you -- maybe you caught a glimpse of it when you first visited. Maybe this is your first time experiencing this weird world and the panic is setting in. If you're totally lost, a tall human woman with a long scroll of paper will stop by to give you the run down. She'll also give you a letter, which may give you more questions than answers since the information is a wee out of date. (Maybe someone else can fill in some gaps for you). What is at first painfully obvious is that you're ill-equipped. Any magic or powers you had previously are suddenly replaced with an empty hole in your being. That's not all that's gone, but perhaps that's what's most pressing. Another thing you may notice is that there are others just like you, wandering around and just as confused. If you feel so inclined, you may want to ask around and see if anyone else knows what's up.
B ▢ Let's say that instead of milling about and doing nothing entirely productive, your character has decided to try and venture off to find a way off this huge floating rock. That's nice -- but be warned that the forest is filled with interesting things. For instance, they've happened to find a hollowed out tree that happens to be where a hoard of land crabs are living. They move fast -- run quick! C ▢ Other characters may want to establish shelter before they do anything else -- and that's their right! The problem is that if your character wants to be well-supplied, they're going to have to do things for themselves. There's something of an assembly line set up, but not a lot has been done in way of making things workable. Genette wanted all new coven members to have a little food parcel to take to their hut, but time constraints, you know? If you want any food for now -- or for later -- you may want to cook some of this (poisonous) eel, salt some boar jerky or cut into one of these rabbits. You've also got some berries to eat in the meantime, if you want something simple! |
By the time afternoon sets in, everyone should be a little more adjusted -- or, they should at least be a little more aware of the situation. From there, things still need to be done and exploring is always an option!
E ▢ If you mill about too long, you'll be put to work. Run into Genette and you'll be sent to pick western part of the island to look for strawberries, wheat and deer (good luck hunting if your character doesn't have the capabilities, but maybe someone else can help?). Run into Genette and she'll offer your character an ax to chop wood with (is this a wise idea? probably not), or a request to go fishing in either a stream or the ocean attached to the island on the eastern side. Or your character can do both if they so choose...? F ▢ With all of these new people milling about, telepathy is on the fritz again. At least, it certainly is for those who are new! Your character may not realize their broadcasting frustrations to the network, or maybe a stupid secret. Their mental filter is certainly broken, but that's at least a great conversation starter.

Noctis Lucis Caelum | Final Fantasy XV | OTA
[ While someone should have warned him about the land crabs, it's a little too late for that. No great sword easily accessible leaves Noctis with just his Ultima blade, which isn't exactly the best for cutting up the hard crab shells. Not that it matters because sea(/land?!) food is sea food, and Noctis is not giving up in an effort to eat something that hasn't been rotting in one of the bags they gave them upon arrival.
This leads to him wildly slamming his sword down on the crab shell of one of the critters until he finally breaks enough of its shell to kill it. After that, his sword is sporting a few unpleasant dents, and he's sweating from the exertion. But crab dinner is a go. And if you happen to be wandering by, you'll get this wonderful question directed at you- ]
Don't suppose you happen to have a stick of butter anywhere on you, do you?
[ This is a guy with a clear set of priorities. ]
D. Iron Chef Survival Edition.
[ The great battle between Man and Kitchen has been recorded for thousands of century among the annals of time, and today, Noctis faces a far worse trial than facing against the Astral, Titan. He's got a bag full of crabs and no real idea how to properly prepare them.
However, since this is the first place he's found with running water, he's also quickly having a bit of a sink bath before anyone comes in. It's not the most elegant of baths, but the thought of traveling from place to place with an identifiable and unpleasant stench is not exactly how he wants to be remembered by strangers.
So here he is, a bag of dead crabs left to the side while he wets a rag and tries to scrub over everything within reach under his clothes. Feel free to notice the odd display or just walk away quietly. ]
E. Monster of the Deep: FFXV
[ While any other task would make Noctis groan and complain, being assigned to kill an entire afternoon fishing is practically its own reward. That is, until he remembers he currently has no access to his fishing rod and has to scrape through the ground to get worms.
A sad excuse for a fishing rod lays at his side, fashioned out of a stick and shoe string while the prince of Lucis, digs his fingers into the soil. Aside from getting his hand dirty, he hasn't been at all successful in finding worms but has found enough other bugs to make him increasingly eager to burn his arm skin off.
His voice sounds irate when another venture isn't met with any success: ]
Come on... where are you? Ugh, I don't want to stick my fingers back inside.
I. Wildcard!
[ Throw whatever you want me or hit me up at
D.
Don't mind him, though watching his friend wash himself that pathetically makes him crack a grin.
And he might have snapped a few hilarious pictures discreetly, to show Gladio and Ignis later, before grinning at him over it. ]
You know, you're not going to get very clean if you're that half-assed about it, Noct!
[ Just stating the facts. ]
no subject
Luckily, he's not alone in his suffering as Prompto has an equally horrid stench. The friends that take sponge baths together, something something. This is probably more bonding than they need with one another right now. And he'll likely steal Prompto's camera later to delete those pictures rather than remain the subject of ridicule for many oncoming nights. ]
What do you mean 'half-assed'? I'm not taking my clothes off in here. And neither are you.
[ He draws the line at being stuffed into a tent together. They don't need to know one another better than that. ]
Do you feel any cleaner? We smell like dish soap.
no subject
[ The sarcasm is delivered in a playfully haughty voice, though he's at least doing a better job with the soap (that smells like a nice flower, come to think of it) while rubbing it on the cloth to properly lather over himself before quickly working on getting a side drenched enough so that he can wipe it off. He's in his undershirt at least, and he splashes more water onto himself and his face before turning to regard Noctis.
Hey, if they're not touching anywhere else... he turns and pokes Noctis in the middle of his back, before washing off his cloth properly and wringing it dry, and standing behind him. ]
Lift it up, Princey. Your back will appreciate not feeling like a greasy mess. You're wiping everything else below the belt yourself.
[ He knows how much Noctis complains when they've gotten messy during camps and no way is he putting up with that just because he doesn't feel clean. ]
no subject
[ Besides, he's not taking his shirt off in a public kitchen. There's still the fear and anxiousness that someone might walk in and catch the two of them cleaning each other, which is not something he really wants to explain let alone live through. He's already suffered through enough embarrassing situations since his arrival, many of which he doesn't want to ever repeat.
He quickly tries to move his own rag beneath his shirt, scrubbing rather awkwardly around the base of his spine before it falls on the ground. Okay, attempt #2. He recovers the rag and tries to clean from the top, stuffing the rag down his shirt.
It falls again.
With a huffed out breath, he finally just tugs his shirt off, balls it up, and tosses it at Prompto's face. ]
Just do it fast. And no funny stuff while you're back there.
[ Both hands plant on the sink, leaning into it and letting Prompto scrub what he can while he absently stares at the wall before him just to distract himself from the awkwardness of this situation. ]

E
What're you looking for?
[If Noctis' irritation concerns him, he certainly doesn't show it with the casual nature of his question. Maybe he can help out if he finds out what he's looking for, although there really isn't all that much to find in the ground around here, he thinks.
It's only after a few moments that he's glancing over to the stick on the ground]
...Hey, is that thing yours?
no subject
It takes a few blinks to orient himself to the fact that this is really happening before he follows to where he assumes the kid is looking at. Seriously, how does he see with that on? ]
Who-! ...you mean the rod?
[ "Rod" is a very generous term for it.
His eyes glance at the the stick again before he slowly raises one hand and waves it in front of the kid's face, still wondering about his eyesight. He only stops when the gesture starts to feel a little weird. ]
Uh, yeah. It's mine. You are?
no subject
Er...
[That's a strange question. 9S tips his head, but the change of angle doesn't make what this guy just asked him any less strange in his eyes. And unfamiliar with such lines of introduction, he can only conjure one answer]
Not...yours...if that's what you're asking.
[He's his own android, thank you very much.
Man, what a weird guy he's crossed paths with here. But no matter, he's human and thus 9S is compelled to assist him regardless. He still doesn't know what the goal is here but maybe his initial inquiry bears repeating. The rod's not really giving him any clues where, but then he's used to employing the use of pods for fishing]
So what're you looking for?
no subject
That is, if this guy is offering in his roundabout way. Though, it's still uncertain if he can even see that well with the blindfold on. Maybe it's a fashion choice? At least, no one can complain about him wandering around in his Lucian fatigues any longer, as he's clearly not the weirdest dressed person here. ]
Worms mostly. Since I can't get to my favorite lure and rod, this the next best thing.
[ Well, the next best thing would actually be a tackle and bait shop. This is ...desperation hitting its peak. ]
Nice of you to volunteer to help.
[ A cheeky grin follows that comment, and even if this guy wasn't planning on volunteering, he is now. That's what he gets for interrupting him during his meditative dirt rummage. ]

Crab for dinner? Sounds good. Maybe there's a possibility of the crabs becoming crab omelettes? She hopes so. She hasn't had much to eat yet except for a few berries. Usually, she relied on Cheria or the maids at Lhant manor to cook her food. ]
No, sorry. I don't have butter.
[ She eyes his sword for a moment. She doesn't have a clue how to prepare a crab, but she can probably copy what he's doing. ]
Do you need help?
no subject
However, she is offering to help, and Noctis isn't eager to kill that many crabs on his own. ]
Knock yourself out. We can split the loot after.
[ It's the least he can do, though it'd be nice if he knew how to prepare them. Being the adult in this situation (as far as he knows), he should be more ...nurturing? Or something. ]
You got kidnapped into this place, too?
[ He assumes that's generally the case for most of the people here, but he wants to get an accurate gauge. ]
no subject
Knock myself out? Why would I do that?
[ Sophie takes many phrases very literally, Noctis.
Regardless of his answer, she's going to set to work to cracking open the crab shells. She was punching trees awhile ago... now she's going to punch some crabs. A swirl of light particles gather around her arms, materializing into a pair of gauntlets. Holding one of the crabs down, she uses her fist to smash open the hard shell with ease. ]
...Yeah, I was kidnapped too.
no subject
Just a figure of speech. Means go break some crabs if you want. Not exactly but... you know.
[ He gestures vaguely with his hand and hopes she knows. He's not good at explaining metaphors, and attempting to could detract from precious crab-slaying time. Given how hungry he is and how many crabs are trying to escape from the hole, now isn't the best time to have a complete conversation about this.
Whatever else he wants to add to that is lost to the shocking scene of a little girl practically punching the shells off some crabs. That is... impressive. ]
Let me guess... your new power is punching stuff?

None of that comes to mind though. All she can think about is that he seems like he's really struggling with something, and it's her duty to help any human struggling anyways.]
Did you drop something? I can help you look for it.
no subject
Kind of similar to the other guy... almost eerily so. They're probably related, but he doesn't want to pry into it too much -at least, not on an empty stomach. ]
Looking for fishing bait, worms to be exact. Be my guest if you want to get your hands dirty. I'm not stopping you.
[ He figures she'll probably quickly refuse as Noctis doesn't even want to be digging around in the soil. But hey, she did offer, and he's not one to let an opportunity go to waste. Unless it involves too much work. Then he might let it go to waste a little bit. ]

Um, maybe! That is... from cows, right?
no subject
Yeah, but you're missing a few steps there.
[ By no means should he go grab a cow for them to milk. Noctis can live without butter on his crabs if that is what he's implying. His taste buds aren't that picky. Okay, they're pretty picky, but he's too hungry to complain at the moment. ]
I'd prefer if it's already in a container and not mooing at me.
[ This place could really benefit with a grocery store of some sort, though he highly doubts he's the first person to think of that. ]
no subject
Okay! I think I can do that. A tub of butter.
[Biting his lip, Jake focuses on the likelihood that Noctis didn't check his pack well enough and that he missed a tub of butter in there. Maybe it's not super likely but it's possible, right? After a second, he nods.]
Righto, check your bag again and see if there is any butter?
[Because of the way Jake thought about it, all the butter in the tub will be melted but hey at least he'll find butter in there?]

sadly, no magic stick of butter presents itself and she's forced to shake her head]
I don't have any, but we could look for some if you'd like. It might go faster with two pairs of eyes searching.
no subject
[ Which begs the question -why'd he even ask? It had clearly been a waste of words, but maybe somebody with refrigeration powers happens to be carrying a stick of butter. It's not what he would do in that situation, but the hunger is making him too delirious to think straight.
That's enough impetus to drive him to slam his sword down another crab, trying to crack the hard outer shell before tossing it in his growing crab pile. ]
We'd be better off looking for a store. Or a map to a store. Or a map to a burger joint and save ourselves the trouble of cooking crabs.
no subject
[although she has no idea what a burger joint is, she has a feeling she'd know one if she saw one. so there clearly aren't any!
she steps over to get a better look at his pile of crabs. it's, well, a pile of crabs, but it's at least a food she's seen cooked before. she doesn't feel completely out of her depth with crabs.]
I'm not sure if it's meant to build character or something, but it seems like if we don't make the food ourselves we won't get to eat. If you boil these they should taste just fine; all we need is a pot.

[He adjusts his grip on the ax he'd had shoved into his hands when he'd been leaving camp. It had originally meant to be one of his new attempts to fly but, side quests happen. Shiro turns to study the dead land crab and both eyebrows go straight up.]
If you need help getting your kill back there, I can help you.
no subject
His eyes sweep over the axe in the guy's hands, thinking that would probably be better at breaking a few crab shells than his sword. Poor Cid would have a field day if he knew what he was doing with the Ultima blade. ]
Uh, sure. Be my guest. Was planning on bringing back some more for all the rest of the kidnapped, so a big guy like you can probably handle the load.
[ Words followed by a grin and an encouraging pat on the back because Shiro doesn't know what he just got himself into. ]
Better get to chopping.
