[WORLD ONE | OCTOBER INTRO LOG]
Who: The new coven members and old blood
Where: In and around the hub island
When: Day 92
Open/Closed: Open to All
All characters are told briefly what their powers are by Genette -- no extemporaneous details. For instance, if your character has the ability to detect lies, they'll be told as such -- no warning about limitations, repercussions or the like. They'll also be given a variant of this letter so they aren't totally ignorant of the situation -- though of course adapt this letter to the current setting and surroundings of the game.
Where: In and around the hub island
When: Day 92
Open/Closed: Open to All
This setting may be familiar to you -- maybe you caught a glimpse of it when you first visited. Maybe this is your first time experiencing this weird world and the panic is setting in. If you're totally lost, a tall human woman with a long scroll of paper will stop by to give you the run down. She'll also give you a letter, which may give you more questions than answers since the information is a wee out of date. (Maybe someone else can fill in some gaps for you). What is at first painfully obvious is that you're ill-equipped. Any magic or powers you had previously are suddenly replaced with an empty hole in your being. That's not all that's gone, but perhaps that's what's most pressing. Another thing you may notice is that there are others just like you, wandering around and just as confused. If you feel so inclined, you may want to ask around and see if anyone else knows what's up.
B ▢ Let's say that instead of milling about and doing nothing entirely productive, your character has decided to try and venture off to find a way off this huge floating rock. That's nice -- but be warned that the forest is filled with interesting things. For instance, they've happened to find a hollowed out tree that happens to be where a hoard of land crabs are living. They move fast -- run quick! C ▢ Other characters may want to establish shelter before they do anything else -- and that's their right! The problem is that if your character wants to be well-supplied, they're going to have to do things for themselves. There's something of an assembly line set up, but not a lot has been done in way of making things workable. Genette wanted all new coven members to have a little food parcel to take to their hut, but time constraints, you know? If you want any food for now -- or for later -- you may want to cook some of this (poisonous) eel, salt some boar jerky or cut into one of these rabbits. You've also got some berries to eat in the meantime, if you want something simple! |
By the time afternoon sets in, everyone should be a little more adjusted -- or, they should at least be a little more aware of the situation. From there, things still need to be done and exploring is always an option!
E ▢ If you mill about too long, you'll be put to work. Run into Genette and you'll be sent to pick western part of the island to look for strawberries, wheat and deer (good luck hunting if your character doesn't have the capabilities, but maybe someone else can help?). Run into Genette and she'll offer your character an ax to chop wood with (is this a wise idea? probably not), or a request to go fishing in either a stream or the ocean attached to the island on the eastern side. Or your character can do both if they so choose...? F ▢ With all of these new people milling about, telepathy is on the fritz again. At least, it certainly is for those who are new! Your character may not realize their broadcasting frustrations to the network, or maybe a stupid secret. Their mental filter is certainly broken, but that's at least a great conversation starter.

no subject
[ Which begs the question -why'd he even ask? It had clearly been a waste of words, but maybe somebody with refrigeration powers happens to be carrying a stick of butter. It's not what he would do in that situation, but the hunger is making him too delirious to think straight.
That's enough impetus to drive him to slam his sword down another crab, trying to crack the hard outer shell before tossing it in his growing crab pile. ]
We'd be better off looking for a store. Or a map to a store. Or a map to a burger joint and save ourselves the trouble of cooking crabs.
no subject
[although she has no idea what a burger joint is, she has a feeling she'd know one if she saw one. so there clearly aren't any!
she steps over to get a better look at his pile of crabs. it's, well, a pile of crabs, but it's at least a food she's seen cooked before. she doesn't feel completely out of her depth with crabs.]
I'm not sure if it's meant to build character or something, but it seems like if we don't make the food ourselves we won't get to eat. If you boil these they should taste just fine; all we need is a pot.
no subject
[ Which isn't surprising at this point. The little sac they left them with had basically been more decoration than anything actually useful. Starving to death is starting to look like a real possibility at this rate, but Noctis has to at least try. If he doesn't, then he won't be able to make it back to his world and reach Luna in Altissia. ]
Guess we could always skewer them and cook them over an open flame.
[ But no skewers. And using sticks from the ground is unsanitary. He might as well be licking the dirt up at this rate. ]
The only thing this is building is hate for shellfish.
[ Words grumbled out as Noctis stabs another crab in irritation. ]
no subject
[she frowns at the crabs too though; it's something to take out frustration on, and she won't deny him that much.]
But I'm sure I can find a pot and some water if I take a look around. That is, if you're interested in trying it.
no subject
[ They only really have two: eat the damn crabs or starve to death. He's on the side of crab-eating, so... time to look for a pot. Except he ends up just standing where he is awkwardly, unsure where to even look for one in this place. It's not like they're surrounded by any hints of civilization nor anything that looks remotely like a gas station. ]
Uh, so where do we start? Pick a direction.
[ That way, if they get lost, it's all on her. He wonders how long she's been here... ]
Did you just drop into this place this morning?
no subject
This way; I saw a building around here earlier, which means they should have some supplies.
[she heads off without hesitation, assuming that he'll follow. they can...come back for the crabs later, they're not going anywhere.]
I just arrived, but I had some help exploring the area earlier. We shouldn't get too lost.
no subject
[ That doesn't mean they won't. Noctis always ends up doing a lot of things he shouldn't be doing. Some of it his fault, but usually, it's just trouble finding its way to him really.
His eyes scan the landscape for the building in quiestion before spotting it in the distance. It doesn't look particularly populated, and with any luck, it's not another fertility shrine. There are only so many fertility statues his eyes can be subjected to at once. ]
Guessing if we go by RPG logic, there will be a key somewhere inside, or we get money when we break open the pots.
[ He's not saying they're in an RPG, but he's not not saying that either... ]
no subject
RPG? What's that? If we can get money by breaking pots it wouldn't be too bad, as long as they didn't belong to anyone.
no subject
Role-playing game. Like with knights and kings, mages, that kind of stuff. You have a cell, don't you?
[ Just how backwards is her world? He's not sure if he can sustain that level of nightmare fuel. ]
no subject
[why prison cells are relevant to this conversation is beyond her, but it's enough to tip her off that something isn't lining up between them.]
I haven't heard of a role-playing game either, but there are a lot of things from other worlds that I'm still learning about. I'll pick it up in no time!
no subject
You've got to be kidding me... I mean one of these.
[ He reaches in his pocket to show her his phone which still has some battery left. His fingers then tap over one of the icons on his screen to activate King's Knight for her. ]
Mobile RPG. You try and summon high-ranking warriors to use against enemies.
[ What do they even do for fun over in her world then? ]
no subject
How interesting! It's a game you play on that device, then. I'll remember it so that you don't have to keep explaining. I'm impressed; your world must be a lovely place for you to be able to enjoy your time playing games like this.
no subject
[ It's not so much that he has time to play games all day. It's more like he just does it to decompress after a day of nearly getting eaten by the local wildlife and Niflheim troops falling from the sky. Sometimes, it's nice to relax and blow off some steam. ]
You don't play any games at all? What do you do for fun then?
no subject
[the question gives her pause, not because she doesn't have fun, but because she doesn't always think about the fun she's having. it just sort of happens.]
Maybe it's simplistic, but just being with my friends leads to fun things happening. We share stories around the campfire and they're always doing entertaining things when we go into town. That's usually more than enough, as long as I get to spend time with them.
no subject
Yeah, I sort of get that. Did any of them come with you here? Or is it just you?
no subject
[she can't keep the wistfulness out of her voice; there's no point in pretending that she doesn't miss them.]
I'm sure they're worried, but I decided I'd do my best to hang in there until I get the chance to let them know I'm okay. That seems like all we can do at the moment.
no subject
[ And he thinks he's caught enough crabs to feed the entire island by now. He should be heading back before the sun sets, and something worse than the crabs decides to come out. This place may not have daemons lurking around, but he'd rather not take his chances while he's down two men and with strangers who might not be able to fend for themselves.
He motions to her to follow as he grabs his haul, managing to balance most of it in his arms. Where's Gladio when he needs him to be their convenient muscle? ]
Could walk you back since I'm going there anyway.
[ And he'd feel weird letting a young girl just run around on her own when he's not sure if she's got super strength like the other girl. ]
no subject
[she would believe it of at least some of them; wandering aimlessly is half of what they do when traveling. but she puts that thought aside and follows after Noctis, taking a few extra quick steps to catch up and walk beside him.]
I can help you carry some of those crabs; if you're walking me back it's the least I could do.
no subject
[ Okay, some of the crabs are on the floor now. He spoke too soon. ]
Maybe you can get thos-
[ More crabs are falling. Too many crabs. More than he can catch at once. He grimaces as they start to decorate the floor. ]
Not my day. Maybe you can get those few...
[ And by few he means the giant pile in front of him now. ]
no subject
I did offer, I don't mind.
[she takes off her cloak and with a bit of fussing scoops them all up into that, tying it into a bundle so that they don't fall out.]
There we are. I can wash the smell off later.
We can fade to black here. They'll just give everyone crabs. And stuff.
Thanks, I owe you one.
[ With the crabs set safely in place, they're ready to make it all the way back relatively in one piece. Hopefully, all the other of the kidnapped folks are grateful he gathered this many crabs for them. ]
