[WORLD ONE | SEPTEMBER INTRO LOG]
Who: The new coven members, old blood & Palai people
Where: In and around the city land of Aimintas
When: Day 61
Open/Closed: Open to All

The initial setting information found here should be utilized for threads here.
There's no official OOC account for the Palai people. You're free to roleplay their actions and reactions on your own, as in depth as you want -- asking questions, hand-waved interactions, becoming best friends. The new world is your oyster!
All characters are told briefly what their powers are by Genette -- no extemporaneous details. For instance, if your character has the ability to detect lies, they'll be told as such -- no warning about limitations, repurcussions or the like. They'll also be given a variant of this letter so they aren't totally ignorant of the situation -- though of course adapt this letter to the current setting and surroundings of the game.

Where: In and around the city land of Aimintas
When: Day 61
Open/Closed: Open to All

This setting may be familiar to you -- maybe you caught a glimpse of it when you first visited. Maybe this is your first time experiencing this weird world and the panic is setting in. If you're totally lost, a tall human woman with a long scroll of paper will stop by to give you the run down. She'll also give you a letter, which may give you more questions than answers since the information is a wee out of date. (Maybe someone else can fill in some gaps for you). What you may not know is that this world recently experienced something of a tragedy. You wouldn't be able to guess this based on the festive energy in the air. The main marketplace where you've shown up finished reconstruction last night, and after grief comes joy to the Palai -- those lizard creatures you see wandering around. They're now hosting a festival to celebrate their success and the lives of those both still present and those lost. It's also a chance for them to host one of those big celebrations like they'd previously seen in human books. However, their resources are limited -- don't blame them if things are a little cut-and-paste!
|

This is all pretty juvenile, but fear not! For the mature sort and adults of Aimintas, there's a more quiet part set up that may cater to your older interests. A softer atmosphere, away from the excitement of things. If you want to wind down from the thrill of being magicked away to a new world, this is probably the best way for it.
D ▢ The environment in this more secluded area of the marketplace is supposed to be more relaxed, but it's also the best place to sit if you want a front row seat to the fireworks exhibit the remaining Eltos are putting on. Through balls of dye and their electrical powers, they're quickly blowing up the sky with arcs of color that rain down in the form of bright pieces of glitter once the spectacle is over. They also have a special service they're offering -- the Eltos have a grasp on electrical magic, which means they can draw certain things in the sky with these dye balls. If you have a request for a written message or a drawing of some sort, they'd be happy to comply with your wish! For the real adult experience, however, you may want to check out the large rolling cart that Palai are pushing around the marketplace, landing it in the fireworks area. This cart is filled with all of the eggs that were a product of their mating season, and this part of Aimintas is the warmest.
|

Finally, the Palai are getting used to the standard familiar faces, so they aren't unaware that there are quite a few new faces in the mix. Based on how familiar your character is, they'll receive a nice little gift from the Palai. Older coven members will receive a scrolled parchment that lists them as honorary citizens of Aimintas and a handmade, harden clay sculpture of their likeness. It may not look a lot like them, but they tried.
G ▢ Because the Palai recognize new faces, these new coven members will be dragged to other coven members who they do recognize. In an effort to help make introductions, the Palai are trying to connect new members with old members in order to foster friendships. Say hi to a new, awkwardly introduced covenmate...? H ▢ Wildcard! How will your character interact with this new and unusual world? |

no subject
Give it a few years.
[that said, he'll wave over one of the people serving and order jude something a little less bitter.
still that gives him more to think about. jude being jude-- that means he's probably been worrying himself over the others despite the fact this wasn't his fault, nor there being anything he could do about it.
it must be rough, being that good of a guy.]
I'm sure they're fine. Knowing them, they'll show up sooner or later. Can't imagine any of them sleeping through a world crisis. Until then, I guess it's up to us to make sure things don't go downhill too fast.
[...yeah that's his version of a "cheer up" speech.]
1/2
Believe it or not, I've been handling things just fine on my own. I've even made some pretty good friends here. This has been an undoubtedly bizarre experience, but... well, we're no strangers to bizarre experiences, are we?
[ there's fondness in his eyes when he reflects on those experiences as jude's drink is slid in front of him, and with a slight grimace, he takes a short sip, testing it out.
whatever it is, it's certainly not as bad as alvin's. there's no harm in taking another. ]
2/2
[ so. ]
What do you think?
[ jude gestures to nothing in particular, but it should be clear that he's referring to his own appearance. for reasons he still doesn't understand, it doesn't seem like alvin is familiar with the change. ]
I've got about another inch on me. Soon enough I'll be as tall as you.
no subject
[everyone's having a grand old time and everything looks good. he has no doubt that jude's been working hard to keep things that way. that's... just the way he is.
his appearance on the other hand would take some getting used to. the face was the same-- those big eyes that are hard to fight and his cute young face aren't so different. but he does seem a bit taller. and then there's that hair--]
It looks good on you. Mature. If I didn't know any better I'd think you're the type of guy who likes breaking a few rules.
1/2
... No, that's... That's not what I meant.
[ another sip, and wow, he's only just realizing he's starting to feel a little lightheaded, but it's a pleasant buzz. it eases the surreal feeling and makes him more comfortable. makes it easier to speak. ]
Alvin, I'm glad you're here.
[ he missed him. he missed the warm arm around his shoulder, a steady weight that has grounded him even during the worst of times. ]
Just because I've been managing doesn't mean I don't want a person I care about here with me. A friend.
2/2
[ he hiccups, pointing down to the glass in front of him. it's empty. when did that happen? ]
no subject
jeez...
he doesn't have much of an option. either he faces this head on like a man or-- he avoids it like the plague.]
...you sure put that away fast. Maybe we should get you some fresh air.
no subject
[ is that a yes? a no? not even jude knows. alvin should probably take it as yes, though, being the mature and responsible adult he is. ]
no subject
[alvin puts away the rest of his drink with a satisfied sigh before hopping up and coming over to jude's side of the table.]]
Alright here we go.
[you can take his hand if you need it.]
no subject
Alright, alright.
[ jude learned something today: he is a lightweight. also, he does not need alvin's hand, thanks! instead he's just going to sort of half stand up and half stumble, wobbling a little before he's on his feet. ]
We'll talk more on the way back.
[ back where, exactly? jude has a small shack he's been living in, but the celebration is still in full swing. there's a mob of palai and coven members alike to wade through, and that does not bode well for an inebriated teenager. ]
no subject
[alvin does the natural thing and swings his arm around Jude's shoulders; steadying him instead of his usual display of leaning down on him. the only thing that would get them both is a shortcut to the ground.]
Fine by me.
[he might be subtly guiding him just to make sure he does stumble in to any other tables. as long as jude leans on him they'll be fine.]
1/3
as woozy as jude is, he didn't drink enough to the point where he can't talk. that'd be real trouble.
so jude talks. ]
I don't know what happened, or why we seem to have come from different points in time entirely, but... I moved to Elympios to work with Balan in Helioborg, like I said. Environmental science.
[ jude makes a sound between a giggle and... a snort. ]
Balan has a lot of stories, you know. About you.
[ not that jude will share with him. he'd rather leave him hanging. but anyway, ]
Leia is working as a reporter. Elize is still going to school back in Sharilton. Rowen and Gaius are working together, political stuff. And Milla...
[ jude seems to sober, for just a moment. ]
She's still right where she belongs.
2/3
You bought me these clothes. They were a graduation present. To help me blend in with Elympios' style, you said.
3/3
What have you been doing? What's... the last thing you remember, before winding up here?
no subject
[man he's good. although honestly, the reason he focuses on that first is because everything else is a lot to take in. he's a doctor now-- well, that's not a surprise. he always knew it would happen someday. but working with balan of all people. he can just imagine the kind of stories.]
I hate to disappoint, but it's nothing you wouldn't already know.
[milla though... guess that was still pretty hard on the kid.
...alvin blinks. it's still quiet out here, but there's a gathering of people in the distance. just... not making the kind of loud noise the others were. looks like they were watching for something.]
Let's walk this way for a bit.
[...]
So, tell me about your new friends. Any lovely ladies in your life?
[alvin this is not how you help.]
no subject
and then alvin has to be alvin and ask a question like that. because of course he does. there's a light flush on his face, but — it could be mistaken for tipsiness, or it could be too hard to see at all. ]
Why do you insist on asking so many questions about that stuff? No.
I did meet an android, though? Two androids, actually. I've met a whole bunch of interesting people from a whole bunch of different worlds. Worlds so different from Rieze Maxia and Elympios, I can't even paint a clear picture.
[ a pause. ]
Oh. And I adopted a baby Palai egg. So there's that.
[ he gives the pocket of his lab coat a light tap. ]
no subject
Already a mother at such a young age.
[a l v i n. still, he gives the coat a playful little tap in the same spot.]
Don't worry, you're in good hands.
no subject
[ jude narrows his eyes into a glare — only to practically stumble into alvin again. smooth. real smooth.
he clears his throat and averts his gaze, looking up at the night sky instead. ]
Does that mean you're going to help parent them?
no subject
[did you think you were going to ask him that and not unlock a little more teasing? well here it is.
oh. it's not over either btw.]
So, honey. What are we going to name our beautiful child?
no subject
Never call me that ever again. I take it back. I take everything back.
[ he is also going to make a very sad attempt to detach himself from alvin now! unfortunately, he's still too lightheaded, and it doesn't quite work. he's tucked against his arm, the weight balancing him. ]
no subject
[especially the getting away part. not while you're still looking like a soft wind could knock you over.
think about their child!!! what if you fell on them!!!!]
Besides. It's a little late for that, don't you think?
[alvin why the hell are you making it sound like-- no. you know what. never mind. don't ask.]
no subject
[ rekt. time to change the subject before he actually faints. ]
... That's quite a crowd. I wonder what all the fuss is about.
no subject
...wanna check it out?
no subject
[ then jude is grasping alvin by the wrist and pulling him along until they're in the midst of the crowd. jude has to stand on his tiptoes to see what everyone is waiting for, but —
then the fireworks start, and he's positively enraptured. he's never seen anything like it. not in rieze maxia, not in elympios. jude is silent for a long moment, staring at the explosions of color bursting before his eyes and listening to the excited chatter of the palai surrounding them. ]
... Wow.
no subject
instead, a noise from the sky draws his gaze upwards and for a moment he's speechless. the bright colors light the sky in a flash, illuminating everything around it. one after another different sparks burst across the sky in a light show unlike anything he'd ever seen.
jude has his hand, so he's not worried about the other losing his balance, but he's staying close to him. don't want to lose him here.
this is... nice.]
