[WORLD ONE] SPEED DATING EXTRAVAGANZA
Who: Participating coven members
Where: The Palai marketplace
When: Day 49
Open/Closed: OTA
[ Any and all who are in the marketplace will find that there is suddenly a mysterious barrier around the marketplace (that may be eerily familiar to some) -- specifically one large portion of the marketplace with a large number of tables and chairs, perhaps purposefully set out for nefarious reasons.
A few Palai are ushering coven members to chairs, and everything seems about normal. As normal as the Palai can be when they're putting on a show anyway. It's not until a sizable portion of the coven members are seated (and also supplied with breadsticks and small shrimp), that things get a bit more bizarre.
Thanks to the power of the Eltos, a small band of energy keeps coven members stuck to the chair (magic can interfere, of course), but that's not the end of it. On each table, next to those delicious smelling breadsticks and shrimp, is a bowl of scraps of papers. Every five minutes, a strip of paper will pop out from the bowl.
If you ask the Palai, they'll be inclined to explain speed dating to you. Asking questions, getting to know a person, then being shimmied off to the next potential mate -- this is made possible by Elto magic yet again, through flying chairs that transport their holder to a new table at standard intervals.
The Palai are extremely invested in this exercise? Will you let them down? ]
[ OOC: In the spirit of speed dating, each character will have a top level. All who want to respond to this top level can with questions from this post, but the threads have to end at 10 comments from each character. After this last tag, the characters can be assumed to have been whisked to a different potential match. You're free to have characters make up their own questions, interact with Palai serving food, etc. ]

please pretend like i was on time...
Huh? Rest? [ ...Okay, so she's a little caught off guard by that. But, hey... at least he seems just as loath to do this as she does, so that's nice. ]
Like, take a nap or something?
its ok shhh
[ It is weird and honestly Julius thinks it's just a waste of time. ]
dies slowly
[ She huffs and picks up a breadstick, tearing it into little bite-sized chunks with maybe a bit more force than necessary. But, hey, for lack of anything else to do... she stuffs a chunk in her mouth. ]
Do you know how long we're supposed to do this?
rubs ur back
[ Though perhaps her next parter might not be as willing to ditch this charade as he is. ]
no subject
[ Last chance before she eats them all, probably. ]
no subject
[ He's not particularly peckish. ]
How many people have you spoken to so far?
no subject
Mm, five. I guess they weren't that bad... [ Could've been worse, probably. At least none of them seemed interested in actually taking this seriously, so that was nice. ] But still!
How about you?
no subject
Just two. I would rather be reading or gardening right now...
[ Someone gave him seeds and he should probably be trying those out. ]
no subject
[ That seems to perk her up a bit. She shifts a little in her seat, leaning forward with her elbows propped on the table. ]
Have you met Haru? Haru Okumura? She's really big on the gardening thing too—I'm pretty sure she's already started her own garden here.
no subject
No, I have not. But I can seek her out.
[ He's been keeping to himself far too long, really. ]
Is she a friend of yours?
no subject
[ Before, you know. Being kidnapped and stuck in a coven. ]
She had a totally secret garden on the rooftop of our school, and she was always growing all sorts of stuff. [ ... ] Or maybe it wasn't secret? I mean, she could've gotten her dad to make the school give her permission...
[ She's getting distracted... ]
no subject
I see. Does your school not naturally have a garden?
[ Schools weren't covered much in the Archives, so this is all very new to him. ]
no subject
Not really.
[ She shakes her head—her school is just a depressing box of concrete and suffering. She tries to spend as little time there as possible. ]
It's in the middle of the city, so there's probably not a lot of space for that kind of stuff, you know?
no subject
[ It seems like a whole new world. ]
Could you tell me more about school in your country?
no subject
[ She can't think of anything less interesting than school, so she's a little surprised that he wants to know more about it. But he did say he came from some weird bad future and/or timeline, right? ]
I mean, sure. Whaddya want to know about it?
no subject
[ That's the first impression he had about the old world. Much more populated. ]
no subject
Hm, I guess so. I mean, the school has hundreds of students from all over. Is that weird?
no subject
[ He'll shake his head a little, the gesture also serving to flick some hair out of one of his eyes ]
How do the teachers look after all of you?
