[ Any and all who are in the marketplace will find that there is suddenly a mysterious barrier around the marketplace (that may be eerily familiar to some) -- specifically one large portion of the marketplace with a large number of tables and chairs, perhaps purposefully set out for nefarious reasons.

A few Palai are ushering coven members to chairs, and everything seems about normal. As normal as the Palai can be when they're putting on a show anyway. It's not until a sizable portion of the coven members are seated (and also supplied with breadsticks and small shrimp), that things get a bit more bizarre.

Thanks to the power of the Eltos, a small band of energy keeps coven members stuck to the chair (magic can interfere, of course), but that's not the end of it. On each table, next to those delicious smelling breadsticks and shrimp, is a bowl of scraps of papers. Every five minutes, a strip of paper will pop out from the bowl.

If you ask the Palai, they'll be inclined to explain speed dating to you. Asking questions, getting to know a person, then being shimmied off to the next potential mate -- this is made possible by Elto magic yet again, through flying chairs that transport their holder to a new table at standard intervals.

The Palai are extremely invested in this exercise? Will you let them down? ]

[ OOC: In the spirit of speed dating, each character will have a top level. All who want to respond to this top level can with questions from this post, but the threads have to end at 10 comments from each character. After this last tag, the characters can be assumed to have been whisked to a different potential match. You're free to have characters make up their own questions, interact with Palai serving food, etc. ]

[ jude's lips quirk into a genuine smile. hearing that makes him perk up. it's nice when others are able to appreciate his research as much as he does. ]

Well, that's certainly a unique mechanic. How powerful are we talking about?

To be honest ... I haven't seen an injury I haven't been able to heal yet.

[the only exception being her Soul Gem. but perhaps that's because soul corruption isn't an injury so much as it is a natural progression — it's what happens to all magical girls eventually, after all.]

That's amazing! Even just once a day...

[ he stops speaking to ponder something before he continues, pressing a finger to his temple in contemplation. ]

You must have been a huge help during the Uvi attack. I wonder what good we could do if we combined our healing magic. Worked together.

[ there's a kind smile to go along with his thoughtful expression. ]

Something tells me you were given this power of yours because you want to help people. Because you care about others. Is that right?

[wow, it's been only five minutes and Jude pretty much has her completely figured out. is she that obvious? (yes. the answer is yes.)]

That's exactly it. I'm not sure how much help I am, if I can use it only once a day ... but you're right. We'd probably be unstoppable if we worked together.

Do you know much about first aid?

I do have a medical school degree, so yeah, I would say I know a thing or two about first aid.

[ still smiling, he decides to elaborate a little. ]

Back home, I've been working on environmental science for the time being, but I'm a licensed doctor. So is my father. I grew up helping my parents out until I went off to med school on my own.

[Madoka suddenly leans forward a bit, hands balled into determined fists on the table.]

Do you ... do you think you could teach me a bit? I mean — only if you have the time!

I promise I'll study really hard. And I was the nurse's assistant for my class at school, so I already have a little bit of experience.

[ jude is so, so endeared by the plain determination written on her face. she has this certain warmth to her, an innocence jude knows he can trust. jude is trusting by nature, of course, occasionally to a fault, but something tells him he knows madoka is a truly good person just by talking to her for these brief moments. ]

I'd be more than happy to. I'll teach you everything you need to know.

... And I could use an assistant. So? What do you say?

[ he reaches his hand out, for her to shake on it. ]

[this is the best gift Jude could have given her — now, with any luck, she'll have something she can do to help aside from a single heal a day, when they next travel to low-frequency worlds.]
