[ Any and all who are in the marketplace will find that there is suddenly a mysterious barrier around the marketplace (that may be eerily familiar to some) -- specifically one large portion of the marketplace with a large number of tables and chairs, perhaps purposefully set out for nefarious reasons.

A few Palai are ushering coven members to chairs, and everything seems about normal. As normal as the Palai can be when they're putting on a show anyway. It's not until a sizable portion of the coven members are seated (and also supplied with breadsticks and small shrimp), that things get a bit more bizarre.

Thanks to the power of the Eltos, a small band of energy keeps coven members stuck to the chair (magic can interfere, of course), but that's not the end of it. On each table, next to those delicious smelling breadsticks and shrimp, is a bowl of scraps of papers. Every five minutes, a strip of paper will pop out from the bowl.

If you ask the Palai, they'll be inclined to explain speed dating to you. Asking questions, getting to know a person, then being shimmied off to the next potential mate -- this is made possible by Elto magic yet again, through flying chairs that transport their holder to a new table at standard intervals.

The Palai are extremely invested in this exercise? Will you let them down? ]

[ OOC: In the spirit of speed dating, each character will have a top level. All who want to respond to this top level can with questions from this post, but the threads have to end at 10 comments from each character. After this last tag, the characters can be assumed to have been whisked to a different potential match. You're free to have characters make up their own questions, interact with Palai serving food, etc. ]

[That...that was impressive, actually. Waver sits, his mouth slightly agape, before realizing that feeding a dragon back on the hub will probably be a problem.]

What's a date supposed to be like? Is this it?

[Geir gestures with a wingtip at the weird speed dating setup.]

Definitely not this. I mean, mostly it's one on one stuff but....no magical chairs.

[Waver can't vouch for anything else. He's never been on a date.]

So if you hate dating, but this isn't like a normal date, isn't that better? It's further away from the thing you don't want to do. The "dating part" is really small, and what's left is talking to people and these weird bread things. They're pretty good. You should have eaten some before you gave them all to me.

[he doesn't apologize for eating them all, though. you made your bed, Waver Velvet.]

...Oh, the pastries last time had weird effects on everyone's powers. I didn't know if that was the case here.

[Gotta talk about the important stuff first. But...that is a good point, and Waver's willing to concede that.]

That's...well said, actually. They're called breadsticks, by the way.

I want a thousand, and I'll fake date everyone here if that's how I'll get them!

[this is said with terrifying sincerity. Geir grins afterwards. it's not clear if he's grinning at that statement to indicate that it's a joke, or just being friendly to Waver now that he's comprehensively outlined his position on breadsticks.]

I'm Waver. And jeez, we're gonna have to get the recipe for breadsticks, since we won't be on this world forever.

[Dragons breath fire, fire makes bread, all one needs is yeast, flour, and someone who can bake back on the hub. Easy peasy.]

I'm Geir! If someone wants to make me food, I'd be fine with that. Hey-- "do you ever cook" was even one of the questions. Do you ever cook, Waver?

Geir. Well, I won't mistake you for being anyone else. [He's...distinct. Very much so.]

I don't even know where I'd start. I mostly just...well. Food gets provided. Do dragons have to cook, or not really?

I won't mistake you either! There's something that smells desert-dry about you.

[the scent isn't quite a physical one, but Geir isn't quite sure where it comes from, and doesn't worry about it. everyone seems to have something interesting going on here. he'll either find out, or he won't.]

I've never cooked. Other people only started cooking for me just lately. I like it.

[he holds up his claws to look at pensively, and has his attention caught by a Palai reading the next question to him.]

I don't think it'd work out-- oh, wait, what’s on your bucket list? Bucket list?

Desert? That's...[Rider? The servant's noble phantasm is the only possible source of that kind of smell, but it has been well over a month, nearly two, since that moment within the reality marble came to pass. Waver looks visibly thrown off for a moment before he's snapped back to reality.]


...Is it a list of buckets? I'm confused.

[Ah the 90s, just before that phrase came into use.]

[one of the Palai helpfully explains the concept -- things you want to do before you die! dreams, both grand and small!]

Oh, I don't even know what this one would be for me. Everything...?

[he wants to do everything in the WORLD]

...Okay maybe pick a top five of everything?

But it was my question for you, not your question for me, so you have to answer it first! Say them fast, it's about to change!

[No, he wants to argue! Talking about dreams makes one vulnerable and hell no! He squeaks out a response that is surprisingly honest]

....I don't think I know right now, there's a lot changing!

[Waver sees Geir nodding with a surprising amount of empathy as his chair is whirled away to the next table. that's legit, human rando. that's legit.]

And the Palai have just made things weird. Such is life.]
