[ Any and all who are in the marketplace will find that there is suddenly a mysterious barrier around the marketplace (that may be eerily familiar to some) -- specifically one large portion of the marketplace with a large number of tables and chairs, perhaps purposefully set out for nefarious reasons.

A few Palai are ushering coven members to chairs, and everything seems about normal. As normal as the Palai can be when they're putting on a show anyway. It's not until a sizable portion of the coven members are seated (and also supplied with breadsticks and small shrimp), that things get a bit more bizarre.

Thanks to the power of the Eltos, a small band of energy keeps coven members stuck to the chair (magic can interfere, of course), but that's not the end of it. On each table, next to those delicious smelling breadsticks and shrimp, is a bowl of scraps of papers. Every five minutes, a strip of paper will pop out from the bowl.

If you ask the Palai, they'll be inclined to explain speed dating to you. Asking questions, getting to know a person, then being shimmied off to the next potential mate -- this is made possible by Elto magic yet again, through flying chairs that transport their holder to a new table at standard intervals.

The Palai are extremely invested in this exercise? Will you let them down? ]

[ OOC: In the spirit of speed dating, each character will have a top level. All who want to respond to this top level can with questions from this post, but the threads have to end at 10 comments from each character. After this last tag, the characters can be assumed to have been whisked to a different potential match. You're free to have characters make up their own questions, interact with Palai serving food, etc. ]

Like I was saying, it's especially true in the case of YoRHa that we are designed not to emulate mankind too closely. So things like that we're simply not capable of, and my understanding is that humans get fulfillment from that sort of thing.

That'd be like...taking something away, I'd say.

YoRHa are a specialized force among androids. I guess you'd call us the big guns?

Scanners like me aren't really intended for direct combat, but if you see 2B around, she is.

I haven't met her, but I guess the goggles'll make it really easy to pick her out in the future. [He pauses, then just to be sure, he asks:] You two are friends, I take it?

[Friends, and though 9S is afraid to lend his voice to it for all the weight it holds in him, family. That's something singularly precious, for someone who so longed for a sense of connection with others as he has.

I mostly just didn't want to come into androids with a feud between each other. [You never knew, and Waver at least thought ahead. It was pointless, because he could hear that level of pride. They were friends, no need to worry at all.]

No need to worry about that, but... Does that mean you've got a feud with someone?

Well, not me specifically, I was talking in general. But...yes. Mages are like that.

[There's a sudden flush of anger on Waver's face. It is from both passion and anger, and his voice is suddenly tenser.]

There are too many people who don't want things to change, and that isn't from a lack of trying on my end!

[9S could understand that frustration, to a point.

He's been a stubborn holdout until confronted with so much evidence he could no longer deny the reality he was presented with, but still... People harming their own seems wrong. Until recent events, he was always hesitant when confronted with those who should be on the same side as him, and then he had made one exception]

Mmmhmm! And if you try to make suggestions or anything they just yell at you to shut up and refuse to concede any kind of point! They're so...so....stupid!

[Waver's suddenly much more animated, gesturing widely, looking like he might spring out of the chair if he could.]

Ugh.

You know, it was like that sometimes at the Bunker... Except it was more like anytime I tried to make improvements to a Flight Unit, they'd act like I'd caused some irreparable damage when I'd really made it more efficient.

[This is apples and oranges, but at least he can understand people being doggedly determined not to change even when it's a step in the right direction]

That's exactly it! No one ever listens when all you're doing is helping.

[As far as Waver's concerned, this is apples and apples.]

At least stupidity is universal.
