[WORLD ONE] SPEED DATING EXTRAVAGANZA

[ Any and all who are in the marketplace will find that there is suddenly a mysterious barrier around the marketplace (that may be eerily familiar to some) -- specifically one large portion of the marketplace with a large number of tables and chairs, perhaps purposefully set out for nefarious reasons.

A few Palai are ushering coven members to chairs, and everything seems about normal. As normal as the Palai can be when they're putting on a show anyway. It's not until a sizable portion of the coven members are seated (and also supplied with breadsticks and small shrimp), that things get a bit more bizarre.

Thanks to the power of the Eltos, a small band of energy keeps coven members stuck to the chair (magic can interfere, of course), but that's not the end of it. On each table, next to those delicious smelling breadsticks and shrimp, is a bowl of scraps of papers. Every five minutes, a strip of paper will pop out from the bowl.

If you ask the Palai, they'll be inclined to explain speed dating to you. Asking questions, getting to know a person, then being shimmied off to the next potential mate -- this is made possible by Elto magic yet again, through flying chairs that transport their holder to a new table at standard intervals.

The Palai are extremely invested in this exercise? Will you let them down? ]

[ OOC: In the spirit of speed dating, each character will have a top level. All who want to respond to this top level can with questions from this post, but the threads have to end at 10 comments from each character. After this last tag, the characters can be assumed to have been whisked to a different potential match. You're free to have characters make up their own questions, interact with Palai serving food, etc. ]

[Speed dating was a word Nike was all too familiar with on the account of having two older sisters with boy crazy tendencies, even if one sister complains over the other being too overly picky on a date to their liking. As much as the idea had her feeling curious as a small child -- her two older sisters beimg between six and nine years older thab her -- she knew better about it as a teenager. It was only unfortunate she made the mistake of being allowed to be seated by the gracious hosts after promise of all she can eat without charge, she trusted the lizard folk on their word, only to encounter the only meal to be breadsticks and shrimp.

Needless to say, after her heart has been broken via breaking their promise, Nike began to throw the greatest fit of all fits! She was screaming her frustration out at everyone, she had attempted to walk out with her chair stuck on her, to break her chair by slamming as much of her body weight as possible to fall over, tried to use the wind to tear her chair into pieces (and failed), and had tried to injure herself enough to be excuse by attempting to slam her head at the table in continuously, only to have the Palai decide to move her away from the table by allowing it to float on its own (which helps calm her down by the surprise).

After the Palai apologize and plea for her to go along with it willingly -- because they never want to see her hurt herself again -- was enough to placate Nike's rage. She didn't have the heart to reject them after showing their sincerity to her, but it left her feeling more than irritated and conflicted about it.]

....why are you forcing our hands like this? It isn't right....

[The Palai will simply explain the objective of speed dating as a response. Nike knew better than to waste time asking more questions. With elbows on the table -- after being scooted to the table after promising not harm herself again -- a pair of hands will hold her forehead as her gaze is on the table.]

Sorry, but can you eat on your own instead? Whatever meal in front of me is yours'. I'm not in the mood for this right now.

I already had my body weight in breadsticks.

[ it's said with a casual shrug and he definitely isn't going to force the "play-pretend" reading of the questions. she seems far, far too perturbed by this entire scenario. rightfully so, of course. this entire matchmaking evening has been quite Extra. ]

I don't think anyone's taking this serious, if it helps.

[Was her new speed date partner being serious or facetious? It was more than enough motivation to have her wanting to get a quick peek at him.]

B-But you look so skinny! Where did your body weight in breadsticks go?

[He must have been clearly joking, but it doesn't mean she can't go along with it. Who knows where the conversation can go by going with the flow on? Right now, was a prime example, after he tries to reassure her about the current situation.]

...I hope so. There is a lot that doesn't usually phase me, but it's different when someone knowingly manipulates me to do anything. I can't really forgive that.

[Not until she gets the chance to even the score through justified vengeance.]

[Really her tantrum goes pretty unnoticed by Riku as he's across the table from her throwing just as vicious of a fit. He doesn't like being tricked or forced into things (he's had far more of both things happen to him one too many times to sit back and let it continue happening, even if it was only something innocuous like speed dating).

All he wanted was a nice meal and to either sit by himself or one of his friends (Sora preferably, but he'd even take Roxas at this point). He didn't want to mingle or chat or stare longingly into anyone's eyes but the Palai don't seem to be listening to a word either of them is saying.]

Like I can eat in this kind of situation. It's almost worth seeing if they'll let us go if we starve ourselves.

[Yes he can be that petty.]

[Petty or not, she wasn't going to judge nor fault him for it when she felt the same. It was just good to hear someone else on the same page too.]

...that's actually my.... [Fifth or sixth attempt on escaping?] next plan of action, on account of attempting of breaking the chairs, the table, and injuring myself won't do much.

[Injuring herself did help in spooking them, but only enough to guide her chair far enough from the table via levitation. A sigh will be given as she is reminded of the pain on her forehead after slamming it the first couple of times on the surface of the table. Raising her head from her hands, she'll lower them onto the table, a thoughtful look will be given as she decides to add.]

So, don't waste your time on trying to do any of those earlier options. The last one especially. They won't work.

[The idea of him having him attempt to hurt himself wasn't an experience she wanted to witness or even allow cross his mind. He had too much of a pretty face to ruin it, so if she can protect it, then she won't feel this situation was a complete waste. And to be fair, it may be one of the reasons she wasn't going to ignore him unlike everyone else before. After all, this could be a mutual opportunity for them to find a way out.]

...But I do like your spirit on thinking outside the box, Hero. [With an all too growing knowing smile, she'll add in a more than positive and upbeat tone of voice.] I always knew you'd be a good ally to have! That is, if you don't mind?

['Do you want out?' is basically what she is asking him.]

[He raises a brow at her list of attempted escapes, suitably impressed with her initiative. Breaking the chairs or table would have been part of his next plan, but he's not sure he would have gone so far as to deliberately harm himself. Especially not now that he knows it won't have the wanted response.]

They're so determined to make romantic matches that even self-harm doesn't phase them? I'm starting to re-think exactly how kind and peaceful I find the Palai to be. This is insane.

[Giving her a lingering glance over, he searches for any sign of injury, but nothing seems to stand out to him. It's a relief that she didn't manage to hurt herself too badly, then. They might not know each other very well yet, but he's developed a fondness for Nike and would prefer her to remain unharmed.]

Exactly what kind of nefarious plan do you have in mind, Miss Villainess? [A small smile tugs the corner of his lips up when she refers to their roles. Apparently 'Hero' is a nickname that's going to stick, but he can't say that he minds too much.]

[A light nod will be given, with disappointment clearly seen in her expression.]

Tell me about it.

[A hurt look will be given to any of the closeby Palai, before it slowly turned to one filled with defiance as she continues to agree with Riku.]

...I don't like being tricked. It's one of the few things I can't completely forgive and forget.

[And she has gone through more than her fair share of those who have attempted to lead her astray or to her own death. She couldn't help be reminded of those moments except in this case it felt worse. She really had grown to come to trust in the Palai a great deal.]

A dirty one, of course! [Her attention will be on Riku as she admits it with confidence as she crosses her arms.] We're going to use their own end goal against them!

[And as Riku so politely pointed it out earlier what it was exactly, she didn't feel it was important to repeat it. Just the thought of whatever idea her suggestion will bring was a little embarrassing, but drastic measures had to be taken. At the very least, she thinks so, and was trying her best to remind herself of it as she couldn't help feel her cheeks begin to burn a little bit at the thought.]

Oh, Nike, it'll be alright. Come now, chin up.

[ between the commotion and the fact she was sat down without much of an explanation to begin was hesitant to go along with this whole...thing. but when the screaming hullabaloo's source begins to sound familiar, well. camilla couldn't just leave poor nike alone, okay!!!!!

thankfully camilla left her gloves and gauntlet Somewhere today, so there's nothing pokey when she reaches over curl her hand around nike's own, urging it away from her pretty little forehead to rest atop the table beneath camilla's. ]

It's all in good fun. Besides, I hardly believe this is the first time a pretty girl such as yourself has ever been on a date.

[The comforting voice will catch her attention almost instantly. Nike really didn't expect to find one of her friends having gotten mixed into the same situation as she has. Camilla really didn't deserve her anger nor witnessing her tantrum neither. She’ll turn to the other girl as she gives her hand a squeeze.]

...is it? They tricked me to come here instead of just telling me the truth. I’m mostly upset about that… [Looking at the other princess with concern.] They didn’t do anything weird to you, right?

[She was trying so hard to not get the urge to do anything about it. The urge to use her powers from home was tempting, but she knew better than that. Fortunately, Camilla was doing a good job of distracting her as Nike’s cheeks do turn a light shade of pink.]

...it is my first time, actually. I’ve never been on a d-date before. Unlike my older sisters, I didn’t really have much of a social life before leaving home…

[And now that she’s engaged to the ruler of her world, she doubts there will be much time for dates due to their busy schedules and...she wasn’t all that keen on the idea of going on a date with Livi neither -- she didn’t want to get in his way.]

I'm fine, dear. Rest assured, if anyone dares to try anything unsavory with me, they will be meeting the business end of an axe. I save those sorts of games for the second date.

[ a wink. though, camilla realizes that since nike's never been on a date before, her Hilarious Joke probably falls a bit flat. (well, good thing it isn't necessarily a joke.) ]

You poor thing. Dates can be very wonderful! Even without romantic intents, they're excellent ways to get closer to a person who is not necessarily your lover. Why, I went on dates with my sibling Corrin all the time!

[It was difficult to imagine Camilla being capable of harming anyone with how gentle she normally was around her. She was definitely a bona fide princess with class, intelligence, and elegance. One she could imagine Princess Luna somewhat emulating. But, even so, Nike can’t help feel a sense of pride in knowing the other princess wasn’t a pushover nor a damsel.]

That’s a relief! If anyone has the nerve to lay a hand on you, I’ll be certain to give them a good view of the end of my fist.

[Right after they’ve been introduced by the earlier axe, of course. She simply wants all unsavory types to know Camilla had back up than relying solely on her own strength. From the little she knows of the other princess, she may be used to having a reliable support system between her siblings.

It may just be the only reason a small smile will appear at the mention of her dates with Corrin.]

Now that sounds like the type of date I can get behind on! I never knew a date doesn’t have to be romantic. Corrin is really lucky to have gotten those chances to spend so much time with you. I bet you two would have a lot of fun together!

[She can picture it considering the warning she was given on Camilla being the doting older sister type.]

I'll be sure to keep any malcontents alive just enough for you to finish them off. And likewise; anyone who dares to so much as think of harming a hair on your pretty little head will be taken out swiftly and painfully. Just because we are princesses doesn't mean we cannot defend ourselves and look out for each other.

We certainly did! Poor Corrin was locked away in a fortress, and could not leave under the guise of their own protection, so that left us with few options. But still, that didn't stop us from always having a wonderful time.

[Camilla's own threat in harming whoever tried to mess with Nike will help to rise her spirits. She has almost forgotten about the situation they were currently in. Which wasn't all too terrible since it was getting a smile to come out.]

But, I do admit it's always good to know there's back up to rely on. I'll really appreciate the help. I only hope it won't come down to it. I don't want to see you getting your hands dirty, Camilla-nee.

[Yes, Nike did just refer to Camilla with the older sister title already. She wasn't kidding over hoping the other princess won't get her hands dirty for her sake. It wasn't correct, in Nike's opinion.]

Why couldn't they leave the fortress? I'd expect the one who's gonna be king to have issues with leaving out of the palace to the town all willy nilly like. [Says the fourth daughter to the Rain Kingdom that would escape from the palace to visit the sailors or the mountain while as the next queen of the Sun Kingdom she still escaped to the town and acted like a normal girl without use a disguise.] But, I'm glad you were able to go out to have fun. Do you have a favorite date with Corrin?

You're quite the little tomboy, aren't you Nike? While I'm not the outdoorsy type, believe it or not, I am a seasoned warrior. My favorite position is the front line, and I have a wyvern back home. Prince Xander commands all our armies, which is why he is not confined.

[ camilla doesn't have to worry about hiding the fact she's a violent sadist when it comes to fighting, because she knows enough hoshidan to understand nike's honnorific-- and the smile it puts on camilla's face is incredibly bright. ]

Oh Nike, you really are a princess after my own heart! I could just eat you up! It's nice to have a little darling to fawn over. My father kidnapped Corrin, thus their imprisonment, but just as I do you, I love them as if they are my own.

[There may be a weak laugh as she can't deny Camilla's claim over her being a tomboy. She's heard so many people call her that. Along with savage, tactless, and naive. Nothing like Camilla was known as (even if she did beat up four palace guards on her own once).]

Whoa! That's pretty amazing. I've never met a monarch that would enjoy or even hold the front lines in battle. [Livi, for one, wouldn't and couldn't.] But, what's a wyvern? Is that the name of your weapon?

[She can't help smile a little proudly on having made Camilla's day. It was clear she didn't mind the new honorific after her name while all at once she was impress she understood it too. Nike didn't once consider it could be a term that didn't exist in other worlds. She'll have to ask about it later. For now, though, she needed to react to the new bit of knowledge, didn't she?]

Kidnap? [She didn't expect to learn a detail like that. It was enough to raise her voice a tiny bit.] Why!? Isn't he your brother?

A wyvern is a type of dragon. I ride mine into battle. We've known each other since we were both children, so while he is a proper brat, I do so adore him.

[ camilla's smile falls somewhat. ]

In order to initiate full-out war with our neighboring kingdom, my father murdered their king and kidnapped his third child. That child is Corrin. The imprisonment was under the guise of Corrin's protection, but now, I must wonder if it was because my father knew of Corrin's ability to become a dragon.

[ she shakes her head. ]

It is too late to ask now, but I suppose it is for the best. I could never understand a parent who would treat their children with cruelty.
