[ Any and all who are in the marketplace will find that there is suddenly a mysterious barrier around the marketplace (that may be eerily familiar to some) -- specifically one large portion of the marketplace with a large number of tables and chairs, perhaps purposefully set out for nefarious reasons.

A few Palai are ushering coven members to chairs, and everything seems about normal. As normal as the Palai can be when they're putting on a show anyway. It's not until a sizable portion of the coven members are seated (and also supplied with breadsticks and small shrimp), that things get a bit more bizarre.

Thanks to the power of the Eltos, a small band of energy keeps coven members stuck to the chair (magic can interfere, of course), but that's not the end of it. On each table, next to those delicious smelling breadsticks and shrimp, is a bowl of scraps of papers. Every five minutes, a strip of paper will pop out from the bowl.

If you ask the Palai, they'll be inclined to explain speed dating to you. Asking questions, getting to know a person, then being shimmied off to the next potential mate -- this is made possible by Elto magic yet again, through flying chairs that transport their holder to a new table at standard intervals.

The Palai are extremely invested in this exercise? Will you let them down? ]

[ OOC: In the spirit of speed dating, each character will have a top level. All who want to respond to this top level can with questions from this post, but the threads have to end at 10 comments from each character. After this last tag, the characters can be assumed to have been whisked to a different potential match. You're free to have characters make up their own questions, interact with Palai serving food, etc. ]

I have seen people eating breadsticks so they don't have to talk, I suppose that's a good strategy. I wonder if pretending to sleep would work, too. Perhaps it would.

This meeting...it doesn't have much to do with an actual date. [ Not that he's an expert, and yet. ] I wouldn't even call it that.

[ He's just curious!!! But the way a blush spreads across his cheeks isn't helping his case much. ]

[A blush rises to her cheeks as well. No one had really cared enough to ask that kind of question.]

Well, um... I would probably want to take a day trip for a date. Like go to a pick your own fruit field or somewhere that you can look at flowers all day long. Maybe have a picnic. It's really simple and silly... but I'd like it.

What would your ideal date be, Hibiki-kun?

[ Seeing Haru blush makes his cheeks flare up as well. He should've known that this question is kind of...well, embarrassing. But what's done is done. ]

It's not. Actually, I think it's a pretty good way to spend some time together. Very relaxing, too.

[ The question is whether Haru's date wouldn't get jealous of the flowers...! ]

M-my ideal date? [ Why didn't he see it coming?! ] W-Well. [ He clears his throat to buy himself some time. ] Cooking together could be fun, I think.

It would be very relaxing, I think. My whole thing with dates is I like them to be fun yet relaxing.

[She perks up a little.]

Would you consider cooking together with just a friend?

[ Hibiki's folds his arms, looking carefully at her. ]

You're not just a friend, Haru-san. It's... [ He started this, so he should be the one to finish as well, but putting it into words are difficult, especially when he tries to express his feelings. ] You're one of the very first friends I made. So definitely not just. And yes, I would. Of course I would.

[Oh my goodness, did Hibiki not have any friends before this? Haru is going to never leave him now or ever. She never planned to. But the bond is growing stronger.]

Neither have I, to be honest. I usually just cook for others and eat what they like, so...but what do you like to eat, Haru-san?

Hmmm, well. I prefer anything that can be considered a comfort food and that can pair well with the tea I want to have. What of your preferences?

Comfort food that can pair well with the tea... [ This is going to give him...some food for thought. ] Well, I wouldn't mind eating something sweet. I'm quite fond of Japanese confectionery myself, but two desserts might be too much.

[ Not for him, but he wants to hear Haru's opinion on the idea first. ]

I'm rather fond of really good ramen with a hot green tea paired with it. Dessert could come after it of course.

[She seems to be thinking this through pretty thoroughly. ]

Alright. That's actually...far more reasonable, too.

I would like that. Maybe after we are free from this ridiculous... whatever is happening right now.
