[WORLD ONE] SPEED DATING EXTRAVAGANZA

Who: Participating coven members
Where: The Palai marketplace
When: Day 49
Open/Closed: OTA

[ Any and all who are in the marketplace will find that there is suddenly a mysterious barrier around the marketplace (that may be eerily familiar to some) -- specifically one large portion of the marketplace with a large number of tables and chairs, perhaps purposefully set out for nefarious reasons.

A few Palai are ushering coven members to chairs, and everything seems about normal. As normal as the Palai can be when they're putting on a show anyway. It's not until a sizable portion of the coven members are seated (and also supplied with breadsticks and small shrimp), that things get a bit more bizarre.

Thanks to the power of the Eltos, a small band of energy keeps coven members stuck to the chair (magic can interfere, of course), but that's not the end of it. On each table, next to those delicious smelling breadsticks and shrimp, is a bowl of scraps of papers. Every five minutes, a strip of paper will pop out from the bowl.

If you ask the Palai, they'll be inclined to explain speed dating to you. Asking questions, getting to know a person, then being shimmied off to the next potential mate -- this is made possible by Elto magic yet again, through flying chairs that transport their holder to a new table at standard intervals.

The Palai are extremely invested in this exercise? Will you let them down? ]

[ OOC: In the spirit of speed dating, each character will have a top level. All who want to respond to this top level can with questions from this post, but the threads have to end at 10 comments from each character. After this last tag, the characters can be assumed to have been whisked to a different potential match. You're free to have characters make up their own questions, interact with Palai serving food, etc. ]

[9S isn't quite sure why Hakuno is talking about being a mom, or having a family, but perhaps fortunately he's too curious to concern himself with the how and why. Actually, this leads him to wonder about something rather important—]

Wait... does that mean an AI can reproduce?

[Machines sort of have children he supposes, although they don't reproduce. Maybe it's like that? Another point in the AIs being related to machines column. Come to think of it, Passionlip had referred to someone as her mother, hadn't she...?]

sealeted: (you could have back)

[personal profile] sealeted 2017-08-26 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not actually sure. I know another AI who sort of... split parts of herself into new, separate AI based on her source code. I don't know if I can do that, but I never had the ability to bleed or turn into a squirrel before, either.

[Technically, her body is an exact copy of an existing human girl's form, right down to the atrophied, high-quality Magical Circuits she had to work on improving. It's not something she has really thought about, but having a kid the normal way might not be a stark impossibility.]

But, I could always adopt, too.

Divided her code, huh...

[Another point in favor of his theory that AI are closer to machines. They're not exactly the same, he's sure, but he thinks of Adam and Eve when it comes to one entity splitting into more. Machines are more than code, and Hakuno herself is tangible, so 9S will have to wonder why the process only involves coding.

Adoption though, was that like the android who'd taken in a broken Scanner unit? It's the closest he comes to envisioning what she means]

Does that mean you'd take care of another AI then?
sealeted: (and I'll be at the front of the line)

[personal profile] sealeted 2017-08-27 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Absolutely. Though, the ones I know are all fully matured.

[She shrugs.]

Or, an organic child, too. Human or any other species.

[He's known a machine that took in animals, but this is an entirely different proposition.

Could artificial beings like them really raise a human? Would that be right? He shifts with a given discomfort in his seat, though he can move no further]

Guess I'd never thought about that sort of thing.
sealeted: (in the back of your mind)

[personal profile] sealeted 2017-08-27 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
I've only recently had the chance to think about it too.

[Why not? There's no set laws about parenthood.]
deem: (turn)

[personal profile] deem 2017-08-27 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
You're freer in this organization than before, right?

[That's the impression he got from their first conversation]
sealeted: (will you stop)

[personal profile] sealeted 2017-08-27 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, absolutely.

[Magnitudes more free.]

I'm plenty happy to be here.
deem: (box)

[personal profile] deem 2017-08-27 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
So you're okay with this coven-business?

[It makes him wonder what the place she'd come from was really like, between her tone now and things she'd said to him before]

I haven't been too sure what to think of it.
sealeted: (I'll only want you more)

[personal profile] sealeted 2017-08-27 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Well, world-hopping exploration was what I'd be doing now anyways.

[And she can now turn into a cute little animal.]

At the very least, I'm optimistic.
deem: (turn)

[personal profile] deem 2017-08-27 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Really? I guess the concept's pretty familiar then.

[It's like the machines with their ark, isn't it?

Though he doesn't know how that'll turn out for them]
sealeted: (I'll be the earth)

[personal profile] sealeted 2017-08-27 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
It was something I was looking forward, at least.

[So, all things considered, she's not doing too badly for herself.]
deem: (box)

[personal profile] deem 2017-08-27 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
What were you most looking forward to seeing then?

[Seeing other worlds isn't an idea he'd entertained for more than a moment, before all this]
sealeted: (your gentle winding mind)

[personal profile] sealeted 2017-08-27 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, all sorts of things. New foods, new cultures, new stories and histories...

[It's a big universe.]
deem: (lean)

[personal profile] deem 2017-08-27 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Those'd all be pretty interesting.

[A pause to reflect]

I mean, just so long as foods don't always have side-effects.
sealeted: (and I'll be at the front of the line)

[personal profile] sealeted 2017-08-27 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah... yeah, that was definitely an unexpected surprise.

[Not the strangest she's ever had to deal with, but...]

So, what are you looking forward to?
deem: (ponder)

[personal profile] deem 2017-08-27 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
[What is he looking forward to...?

Despite asking, he hasn't given that much thought]

...I'm not sure. Being here among humans with 2B is already more than I could ask for, so...

[personal profile] sealeted 2017-08-27 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
Well, you're at a new starting point. I think it's fine to start searching for new goals.

[Her chair jerks into motion.]

...oh! That was pretty quick...
deem: (lean)

[personal profile] deem 2017-08-27 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Guess so.

[To both, actually.

There's a pause during which he clearly hesitates before he raises a hand, leaning as best he can to reach over for that hand-slap they couldn't do properly last time]

Good luck.

[This too, applies to more things than one]
sealeted: (trying for years to flee)

[personal profile] sealeted 2017-08-27 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
You too!

[Hand-slap achieved!!]
