[ Any and all who are in the marketplace will find that there is suddenly a mysterious barrier around the marketplace (that may be eerily familiar to some) -- specifically one large portion of the marketplace with a large number of tables and chairs, perhaps purposefully set out for nefarious reasons.

A few Palai are ushering coven members to chairs, and everything seems about normal. As normal as the Palai can be when they're putting on a show anyway. It's not until a sizable portion of the coven members are seated (and also supplied with breadsticks and small shrimp), that things get a bit more bizarre.

Thanks to the power of the Eltos, a small band of energy keeps coven members stuck to the chair (magic can interfere, of course), but that's not the end of it. On each table, next to those delicious smelling breadsticks and shrimp, is a bowl of scraps of papers. Every five minutes, a strip of paper will pop out from the bowl.

If you ask the Palai, they'll be inclined to explain speed dating to you. Asking questions, getting to know a person, then being shimmied off to the next potential mate -- this is made possible by Elto magic yet again, through flying chairs that transport their holder to a new table at standard intervals.

The Palai are extremely invested in this exercise? Will you let them down? ]

[ OOC: In the spirit of speed dating, each character will have a top level. All who want to respond to this top level can with questions from this post, but the threads have to end at 10 comments from each character. After this last tag, the characters can be assumed to have been whisked to a different potential match. You're free to have characters make up their own questions, interact with Palai serving food, etc. ]

[...Forgiveness is granted purely for the "sir". Good manners are kind of pushed to the bottom of Jotaro's skillset these days, but he can still appreciate them in others as long as they're not a blatant front for bullshit.

He's not taking his hat off, though, just turning his head so the side is clearly visible.]

[9S peers as best he can from where he is, and his goggles grant him better visual acuity than he already possesses. Still, after humming thoughtfully, he sits back in his chair, feeling no less illuminated on the subject]

It's almost like it blends into your hair. [You win this round, hat...] Do humans typically wear garments like that one?

[Although it's the first that he's seen of it, that isn't saying very much when he'd only seen his first living human weeks ago]

Are you not human, or do you just not hang around us all that much?

[Because he looks human? But the blindfold apparently not interfering with his vision is kinda weird, and it's not like this would be the first person he's met who only looks human.]

[Perhaps it's simply a strange way of paying him a compliment, asking whether he is one. 9S supposes that means he's quite well-crafted after all. But then, he was created by mankind, could there be much doubt a bout their handiwork?]

I'm an android, just like 2B. Well, not exactly like 2B, we're different unit types and models, but we're both YoRHa.

How am I supposed to tell the difference? Androids are just science fiction where I'm from.

[That's not even getting into everything after "android" making zero sense to him. Jotaro needs to socialize more, maybe! He does at least appear sincere about his question.]

[That's...a good question, 9S supposes. As such he looks down at himself, trying to think of a tell-tale difference that doesn't necessitate the removal of clothing. Because YoRHa units most certainly lack certain part that have no functional utility for them]

I guess I just always assumed humans would know the difference right away.

[Because androids are their creations, and therefore surely not comparable to them. They were made in the image of mankind, but...

When he looks up, he levels a gloved hand by his face and taps his goggles]

But so far as I know, it's just me and 2B here, and YoRHa like us dress this way.

You guys dress that way because you have to, or for personal preference? Because it sounds like it would be pretty easy for someone in your world to dress up as a yore-uh [he's trying okay] and frame you for something.

The uniform's standard among us, but...our specifications are pretty different from other units. It'd be pretty easy to prove someone wasn't YoRHa, even if they tried to dress the same way.

[And 9S doubts that it's something that other androids would do, considering what YoRHa are by comparison, and what they represent]

For one thing, our black boxes differ.

So if your black box was put in a different body, would that be you in a different body or a new android altogether?

My personality data being uploaded into another body would still be me. My black box is...different.

[Certainly a vital part of him, and its destruction would kill his current body, but it's the data that matters more than his physical form]

...And not really safe for just anyone to handle.

[Androids sound really complicated, which... isn't a surprise per se, but it's not the kind of conversation they have time to get into when the Palai are hung up on quick and efficient romance.]

Don't worry, I won't try anything unless the situation is desperate.

Just...so you know...it's a fusion reactor.

[He's not sure what would be desperate enough to risk massive collateral damage when there are human lives to consider, nevermind the fact that tactical suicide is fine and dandy in a world overrun with hostile machines]

[There's something about the way he says it that suggests he's not planning to go fishing for robot organs, but there's also a flicker of purple arm over his like a double exposure that suggests he might fucking try. If the situation were desperate.]
