After an appropriate amount of time for mourning, the Palai have shifted into a more positive mood -- they're a very resilient species, though there is a bit of a muted tone to their celebration. The whole event is a little hodge-podge, mostly because they aren't used to having to celebrate with the coven members added to the guest list. The Palai have gathered together all of their people and have invited the coven members to a small, intimate gathering -- the purpose of the event is to thank them for their service in fighting the Uvi, and the success of freezing the Uvi in their home. While no one knows how long the Uvi will stay gone, any amount of time without the Uvi being a concern is fine by them. The event takes place in the very center of the marketplace, with the Palai interacting on the fringes of the party throughout the rest of the large building. The coven members have time to spend by themselves, but there's room for moving around on their own and also spending time with the Palai if they so choose. A ▢ One of the more noticeable editions to the food the Palai have provided is a large pile of sweet, sugar dusted pastries. You may notice that something about them seems...odd, to say the least. It looks as if the pastries are vibrating slightly, but they smell divine. If you're so inclined to ask what the deal is, these pastries are magically infused by Eltos, which somehow gives them a sweeter flavor and enhances the sensation of tastebuds. The Palai sometimes eat these before meals in order to better the flavor of their entire spread -- though adding this energized magic to an already magical being means magic powers may be a little off kilter. Don't be surprised if suddenly your abilities go a little crazy. B ▢ The Palai aren't participating the party for two big reasons. One, the purpose is to celebrate the victory of coven members. The other reason, however, is one that may be more interesting to outsiders. While previously the Palai were peaceful people, happy to exist submitting to the Uvi, the coven's show of strength and valor has inspired them to be more aggressive in their approaches. Grown Palai can be seen working on makeshift weapons, but the idea of smaller tools like slingshots have already been constructed and almost perfected. The Palai youth have discovered these tools and are playing with them gleefully, though occasionally hitting each other -- and potentially you -- with energized, paralyzing rocks fueled with Elto energy. Watch out or you might get zapped! C ▢ Other Palai youth aren't as fortunate to be so distracted and happy. While fewer Palai died during this attack, the casualty number wasn't zero. Most Palai children still have at least one family member to care for them, but they're still a little disconnected from their people by means of grief. Some are milling about with the coven members, trying to eat or pester them for attention. If you're good with kids this may be more your speed, but those bad with children can find this irritating. Some Palai youth are more muted, however, content to just sit and listen to stories or eavesdrop on conversations. D ▢ For some people, rain isn't that big an issue -- but it certainly puts a damper (get it?) on a party. The Palai seem a bit confused by the sudden shower that comes in heavy as the evening dies down. The Palai have never experienced rain before, using irrigation systems and existing ground water as their means of hydration (both for themselves and for plants). Because the rain is coming from the ocean, the drops are large and salty, and the marketplace quickly begins to flood. The Palai move the party indoors for the most part, but that doesn't mean you or the food aren't already soaked. It's much warming underneath the roofs in the marketplace, but that doesn't provide much relief since the ocean rain is warm and humid. E ▢ Wildcard! How will your character handle this violent and volatile situation.

Rather like this being something okay to be unnerved by, since it's absolutely nothing compared to Caster's lair.]

[More importantly, there's a comfy spot out of the way that he spies, and Waver starts to move towards it quickly.]

[Hakuno, being a snugly-wrapped friendchilada, can only be comfortably carried along.]

Ah, so that was your Servant?Do you two get along?

[The only Rider Hakuno has ever met was a boisterous pirate.]

Kind of?

[Waver still feels some guilt over even revealing Rider's class. If there's another master who shows up, it could be a problem. Hell, it's probably one now, even if Hakuno's gone through and won the damn Grail War. What if one shows up here!?

Nope. That's just silly, there's not enough leylines. Waver's finally made it to the out of the way spot, and really what he's found is a Palai sized bean bag chair. He settles down into it, content.]

Not at all at first. It's gotten better.

I know how that goes. The Servant I had back in the War was a real piece of work, and the one I have now was an enemy I beat twice back in the Moon Cell.

[If a Grail shows up in this world, Hakuno is barricading herself in a safe-house and staying far, far away.]

[Waver's still got all his command seals. Can...can he even decline? How would it even work? These are the important concerns, really.]

...How'd you get stuck with him then, if that wasn't the one you summoned?

About halfway through the War, the Holy Grail was usurped and corrupted by a third party. At that point, my contract with Berserker was severed, and I fell to the Far Side of the Moon, where Gilgamesh was sleeping. The Moon Cell had ruled that he was too overpowered to be put into circulation as a normal Servant, but... well, I got lucky.

Before my 'right to exist' was revoked because I lost Command Seals, I managed to interest him enough for him to extend his hand to me. And he stuck with me after we resolved the Grail issue, and we went on to win together.

[Waver listens quietly. No one had tried to do that in the Grail War so far, even Caster was kind of within bounds.

The idea of a servant being ruled out was interesting. Then again, the idea that it was Gilgamesh made sense, him being the first hero and al.....


...wait.]

That's....really screwed up, that your ability to exist was revoked. I know that's an understatement.

[There's a second thing though. More important.]

What did Gilgamesh look like, exactly?

The Moon Cell took in 999 people and culled them down to 128 before Command Seals were even given out. There's a reason my wish was to revoke it's ability to interact with humanity.

[She blinks, tilting her head up to look at him.]

Gilgamesh? Uh... blond hair, slitted red eyes, a really loud laugh, a lot of gold... what else...

[teratias]

...You make the one I'm in look so tame.

[Waver stops. There's zero color in his face, and he mutters a few choice words before saying anything else.]

I've met him.

Comparatively tame doesn't mean 'not terrible,' remember?

[Hakuno pauses.

After a moment, she squirms an arm out of her burrito blanket and gently pats his hand, true compassion in her face.]

I'm so sorry. He's a huge brute.

[teratias]

Yeah, but. Still, it's sort of an eclipse.

[Waver offers a finger, mostly because that's a bit easier to grab onto. He breathes out, very long and slow.]

Yeah. He's Archer and...ugh.

He didn't have a proper class when I stumbled onto him, but... man, I can imagine how terrifying it must be, getting slated as his enemy.

[teratias]

[Waver just shakes his head, shuddering at the thought. Archer without any restrictions? That's a true nightmare if he's ever heard of one.]

Mostly he just didn't like Berserker, whoever Berserker is. He wouldn't go down easy, and that just made Archer mad.

He's does think lowly of people who carelessly toss aside their reasons and act like beasts, come to think of it.

[He's all about taking charge of one's own destiny, after all.]

That...explains about 25% of things, now that you've articulated it so pointedly.

Yeah. I won't say he isn't confusing from time to time, but...

[She shrugs.]

He was on my side, so I had it a lot easier, probably.

[teratias]

...That's....no easy feat. [Waver's impressed, even if he doesn't quite show it in his face.]

Did he just complain and call things ugly a lot?

[Waver... you're so right.]

...I won't deny there was a lot of that, but he did fight for me, every time.

[Hakuno is the Gilgamesh whisperer, Waver has concluded.]

I don't know what kind of relationship he had with his Master, in truth. He wasn't happy when he was ordered to withdraw from a fight though.

Well, he's not one to take being ordered around lightly. that Master should watch his step; I wouldn't be surprised if Gilgamesh tore him into eighths one day for the affront.

Well, if it has happened, then whoever's got him now is keeping themselves well hidden. [Waver prods at the fabric of the Hakunorito.]

Is this still good, or is it getting too stuffy?

I'm nice and cozy, don't worry.

[If she were any more comfortable, she'd be falling asleep.]

How are you holding up?

[That'd be pretty cute, actually.]

Kind of disappointed that I can't have any of those pastries, honestly. They looked good, but I already had weird magic mishaps thanks to food.

Oh uhm. One of the first nights at the coven's hub. There were crabs for dinner, and just...smoke. Coming off of me, everywhere, out of my shirt opening and sleeves and anywhere else it could go.

[Waver's slightly red, but somehow not too mortified in explaining this.]
