Who: The Uvi and coven members
Where: In and around the city land of Aimintas

For coven members who haven't been in Aimintas very long, the panic of the Palai the past few days may seem like overkill. The day goes by rather quietly and Aimintas looks like a ghost town throughout the morning and most of the afternoon. Not one Palai can be seen, with shops closed and the roads virtually empty, aside from coven members. It isn't until the sky is turning a nice shade of pink that things begin. Observant people who may be gazing up at the ocean will see the very small dots in the sky that begin to approach at a very quick speed. If you're outside, you may get to see the Uvi up close -- but perhaps not for very long. The Uvi have rubbery bones, and they hit the dirt in a curled up position, unrolling themselves and leaping up on long, scaled legs. The shortest Uvi might come in at five feet tall, but most range from six to seven. They're lithe and gilled -- you may think they want to rely on stealth, but the sound coming out of their gills is very loud and raspy. There's no way you can't hear them coming as the ominous and rapid noise follows them everywhere. Some of them are walking around empty handed, eyes scanning and striding up to buildings, banging on the outside and observing the inside of the house as much as they possibly can. Others are carrying large, bleached tools made of fish bone and teeth. Some look like long blades, while others look like long axes. These are used for cutting into doors and other violent tasks they feel the need to complete. A ▢ If your character is wandering the streets, whether of their own ignorance or because they're part of the team trying to protect/negotiate with the Palai, they're very likely to run into one of the Uvi. While left to their own devices they'll only be focused on sniffing out Palai, but they're committed to going after anything they see alive and moving. If your character confronts the Uvi, they better be prepared for an attack. B ▢ Alternatively, maybe your character is caught outside and ill-equipped to handle the Uvi. Running is an option! ...But they better be able to run fast. Maybe your character gets lucky enough to run into someone who can help them, but they'd best hope they find each other fast. C ▢ Your character may also be committed to love and justice, fighting the forces of evil with good. It's very unlikely that Palai blood goes unspilled tonight, but your character may be able to prevent it as much as possible. Just be warned: if they confront the Uvi who are trying to break into a Palai house, they're going to be in for a fight. D ▢ Other characters may already be hiding, whether in the coven house or with Palai in their own homes. They'll hear the Uvi's harsh, gasping breathing before they see them, but if they do hear that raspy noise, they'd better be quick thinkers. Whether the Uvi visiting turns into a brawl or a blood bath, eventually the Uvi will return to the ocean with Palai bodies in tow. At around 4 AM, the Uvi begin to shriek, some making noises that are too high pitched for most ears to hear. From the sky, large flying fish descend from the sky and find their masters. The Palai are hoisted onto the back of these creatures and they take off, flying back into the ocean. E ▢ If your character is committed to defeating the Uvi, they may want to try and target the large fish they'll be flying out of. It's possible to kill them in the air, but watch where they fall. They're incredibly large -- larger than the sharks and bigger fish that have fallen out of the sky before. They can also be killed on the ground, but you'll also have to do with their protective Uvi owners. F ▢ Maybe your character is more into the idea of following the Uvi back home. It's possible! Once the Uvi breach the ocean, they swim fast through the dark water for miles and miles. The journey is treacherous, and some may stop the trek to attack in the water where they're more at home. If your character makes it to their lair, they'll find that it's a dense wad of seaweed that stays static in the ocean. The Uvi are used to the toxicity of the leaves, but trying to enter means touching these leaves that leave large, skin-melting welts as they grow and burst. G ▢ Wildcard! How will your character handle this violent and volatile situation.

They won't be a problem.

[For the briefest moment, his eyes are closed behind his shades.]

It will just be a mercy.

[ "Mercy," Minato repeats to himself, silent, his lips barely moving. Something about death as a deliverance, but... He shakes the thought out of his head; the longer he holds them up, the more Palai will be taken and killed, and his indecision is also a decision— he can't afford to hesitate. ]

Okay. We'll go with your plan. I'll draw fire, and you take out who you can at a distance. If we get overrun, let me take care of it.

[splinten]

[Dirk sees that slight movement, but he doesn't feel like it's right to ask. The heavy weight of his power, of what he is for, already twists in him. He can't press at Minato.

Dirk is fine with the plan until the last part.]

If it looks like you're going to get killed, I'm taking you out.

[p_mortem]

[ It's always been a very fine line between life and death that Minato walks; with his Persona, he has the chance to revive himself after he falls— but if it doesn't work, if he's too late... he sure Dirk would not risk that chance. So he promises something he never will again: ]

I won't die here.

[ and presses onward towards the thick of the Uvi attacks, sword out for show and the blade flashing at the enemies' weapons to draw attention as he passes, blocking what blows he can but but uncaring of every time he gets cut, very pointedly not aiming to kill even when faced with the opportunity to slice across a throat or stab through a bare chest. ]

[Dirk keeps his distance. His attack requires charging up his power, but when it comes in it's brutal and overwhelming. The purple-pink lightning grips the Uvi, several at once within his range, and starts pulling, tugging an almost electric after-image out of them. It's obviously a terrible and painful thing but once at last the force snaps the souls are totally destroyed and the Uvi are left as husks, unresisting.]

[ It's terrible, but Minato's done terrible things too. He chooses to turn a blind eye to it, chooses to press forward so that he doesn't see the destruction left in their wake. The Uvi, upon seeing their brethren stalled and stopped on their feet, aren't scared away- they gather in greater numbers, angered and aiming for Dirk because he's the one with the magic to strip away Uvi souls. This isn't part of the plan; Minato finds his sword swinging through air, and he turns to find the Uvi swarming to Dirk instead. This isn't being overrun, not yet, but—

Minato fires off his Evoker, the sound of shattering glass lost in his shout. ]

Horus! Mahamaon!

[ In a burst of light, the falcon screeches and dives at the Uvi, and ofuda enclose the Uvi like a cell. It's only half, but the half that get caught have no chance of escape before their entire bodies dissolve into light as if pulled up into heaven and leaving absolutely nothing behind. ]

Is that still tanking?

[It's easier to think than to shout across the battlefield. He's moving now to get away from the Uvi and waiting for Minato to take more damage, but DUDE BETTER NOT BE PUSHING HIMSELF TOO HARD!]

It's a tank ramming into an army.

[ AKA only on technicality, but he's not tanking. The spell is a costly one, and Horus doesn't provide any sort of protection his other Persona did. He digs his sword into the ground and leans heavily on it, summoning the same Persona and casting the same spell, but it still only halves the numbers. ]

[splinten]

[Dirk notices the lean, and suddenly he is moving close to Minato so he can strike some Uvi head-on with fancy sword-work, keeping them away from his partner in (fighting) crime.]

It looks like a tank losing fuel fast.

[p_mortem]

The tank didn't have much fuel in it to begin with.

[ Which is entirely Minato's fault because he's the one who insisted on bypassing the marketplace, but he'll deal with the consequences.

He switches Personas to Kohryu and summons the dragon next. He can't attack as strategically with this Persona, but it's the definition of a tank, the dragon protectively wrapping itself around him and Dirk and blocking sword and spear from outside. ]

Mediarahan.

[ A healing spell, if Dirk needs it. Minato does, feeling the warmth wash over him like a bath, limbs lighter, head clearer, the throbbing pain of his wounds dulled as they stitch back together. But it's not a replacement for proper rest, more like a shot of caffeine that will keep him going for the next hour or so before he crashes twice as hard. ]

[Dirk takes some healing but he doesn't need much. His focus is on sticking with Minato for as long as he has to; he's going to be there in an hour when Minato crashes and needs someone to drag him off. And he damn well WILL drag him off.]

[p_mortem]

[ If Dirk is sticking around, he'll find that it's much less than an hour. Healing physical ailments is one thing, but the mental exhaustion just gets worse with every spell Minato casts, until the next time he raises the Evoker to his head, it clicks in his hand and there is no summon.

His hand drops to his side and hangs there, limp.

Okay, plan B.

He takes a bead from his shirt pocket and transforms it back into a sword. HE CAN KEEP GOING. ]

[This is when Dirk closes back in.]

Okay, enough, dude. You have gone straight from 'pushing past limits' to 'actual liability.'

[Dirk wants to herd him back to the coven house???]

Fight's not over yet.

[ The fight in Minato is pretty much done, though, his feet shuffling to a stop when Dirk rounds upon him. ]

...At least make sure the area has enough people to protect it.

[splinten]

I will.

[He pauses.]

Can you get back to the coven house?

[He will carry Minato if he has to.]

[p_mortem]

...Yeah.

[ The question is, though, does he trust Minato to get back there by himself? He's sure he can make it back alright, but his reluctance is still evident in his voice. Being forced to retire early leaves a bad taste in Minato's mouth, as is not seeing a battle through to the end when there's even the slightest possibility of him still being useful.

Maybe he'll just cram down an entire loaf of bread and head out again, he won't stray far from the coven. ]

[splinten]

[Yeah no he doesn't trust this. Dirk uses his hand without a sword to start pulling Minato along.]

Too bad, I'm coming with anyway.

[p_mortem]

[ Minato hasn't been directed around like this since he was maybe six. It's a strange feeling, but not entirely unwelcome. ]

Who's going to defend this place if we're both gone?

[splinten]

[Dirk REACHES OUT ACROSS THE TELEPATHIC NETWORK. There's a pause.]

I found someone.

[Time to continue herding Minato because apparently he needs it.]

[p_mortem]

[ ...fine. Minato shuffles along like a child being sent to bed, head hung but eyes sweeping side to side to see if there are and Uvi and he can convince Dirk to let him help. He might also be looking for an escape route, but it's not like he feels up to it at the moment— forget eating, he's going to crash into bed the moment they reach shelter. ]

[splinten]

[Yeah he notices that. He will give a tug to keep Minato in place if necessary, until they get to the coven house. And then he will see to it that Minato gets a bed to collapse into.]

[p_mortem]

[ And then begins the downward spiral of sleeping through the night, not having eaten anything all day and thus not having enough energy to get out of bed in the morning, and so he'll just go back to sleep and starve for two days or something, I've had this happen once and it was agonizing. ]

[Dirk is going to not allow this? he's going to make sure Minato gets fed if he has to shove fish at him himself]

[ It's a good enough a wake up call as any, THANKS DIRK ]
