For coven members who haven't been in Aimintas very long, the panic of the Palai the past few days may seem like overkill. The day goes by rather quietly and Aimintas looks like a ghost town throughout the morning and most of the afternoon. Not one Palai can be seen, with shops closed and the roads virtually empty, aside from coven members. It isn't until the sky is turning a nice shade of pink that things begin. Observant people who may be gazing up at the ocean will see the very small dots in the sky that begin to approach at a very quick speed. If you're outside, you may get to see the Uvi up close -- but perhaps not for very long. The Uvi have rubbery bones, and they hit the dirt in a curled up position, unrolling themselves and leaping up on long, scaled legs. The shortest Uvi might come in at five feet tall, but most range from six to seven. They're lithe and gilled -- you may think they want to rely on stealth, but the sound coming out of their gills is very loud and raspy. There's no way you can't hear them coming as the ominous and rapid noise follows them everywhere. Some of them are walking around empty handed, eyes scanning and striding up to buildings, banging on the outside and observing the inside of the house as much as they possibly can. Others are carrying large, bleached tools made of fish bone and teeth. Some look like long blades, while others look like long axes. These are used for cutting into doors and other violent tasks they feel the need to complete. A ▢ If your character is wandering the streets, whether of their own ignorance or because they're part of the team trying to protect/negotiate with the Palai, they're very likely to run into one of the Uvi. While left to their own devices they'll only be focused on sniffing out Palai, but they're committed to going after anything they see alive and moving. If your character confronts the Uvi, they better be prepared for an attack. B ▢ Alternatively, maybe your character is caught outside and ill-equipped to handle the Uvi. Running is an option! ...But they better be able to run fast. Maybe your character gets lucky enough to run into someone who can help them, but they'd best hope they find each other fast. C ▢ Your character may also be committed to love and justice, fighting the forces of evil with good. It's very unlikely that Palai blood goes unspilled tonight, but your character may be able to prevent it as much as possible. Just be warned: if they confront the Uvi who are trying to break into a Palai house, they're going to be in for a fight. D ▢ Other characters may already be hiding, whether in the coven house or with Palai in their own homes. They'll hear the Uvi's harsh, gasping breathing before they see them, but if they do hear that raspy noise, they'd better be quick thinkers. Whether the Uvi visiting turns into a brawl or a blood bath, eventually the Uvi will return to the ocean with Palai bodies in tow. At around 4 AM, the Uvi begin to shriek, some making noises that are too high pitched for most ears to hear. From the sky, large flying fish descend from the sky and find their masters. The Palai are hoisted onto the back of these creatures and they take off, flying back into the ocean. E ▢ If your character is committed to defeating the Uvi, they may want to try and target the large fish they'll be flying out of. It's possible to kill them in the air, but watch where they fall. They're incredibly large -- larger than the sharks and bigger fish that have fallen out of the sky before. They can also be killed on the ground, but you'll also have to do with their protective Uvi owners. F ▢ Maybe your character is more into the idea of following the Uvi back home. It's possible! Once the Uvi breach the ocean, they swim fast through the dark water for miles and miles. The journey is treacherous, and some may stop the trek to attack in the water where they're more at home. If your character makes it to their lair, they'll find that it's a dense wad of seaweed that stays static in the ocean. The Uvi are used to the toxicity of the leaves, but trying to enter means touching these leaves that leave large, skin-melting welts as they grow and burst. G ▢ Wildcard! How will your character handle this violent and volatile situation.

It makes me look a little more intimidating, I think? It's strange, but back at home I felt really powerful when enemies would fall at my ax.

[That sounds really concerning coming from her, she's sure. She really hopes that doesn't scare Hibiki off. Her friends at home always poked fun at her strange fascination with defeating enemies.]

Where should we take cover?

[secrowtary]

It certainly does. [ His first impression of Haru and his impression of her now are completely different, to be honest. ] But...does that mean you don't feel powerful now? You did great, Haru-san.

[ It's not that he's trying to be nice; he's seen Haru in action and the blows that knocked their enemies on the ground were quite impressive. ]

Perhaps someone would allow us to stay in their home for a while? We could rest there and if the Uvi come close, we will be able to help.

It means I feel a little lost right now. I truthfully don't know what to feel.

[The fact that bad things were happening regardless of their efforts. There was some good in their effort...but it would turn out later to be not good enough. You can't save everyone even if you can dream to save everyone.]

We could look around, yes. That sounds like a solid plan.

[secrowtary]

Just...don't push yourself too hard, all right?

[ Honestly, he says that just in case. Haru just doesn't strike him as a person who would do something unreasonable. ]

I hope that someone will let us in.

[ There's no need to be so pessimistic because the first door he knocks at some time later is being opened for them almost immediately. ]

We're sorry to trouble you, but we need a place to stay and rest.

[mapsio]

You don't need to worry about that. I know my limits.

[She doesn't get too unreasonable. She knows that there is a time and place to stop.

She seems relieved when someone answers the door.]

If anything happens while we are here, rest assured that we will protect you.

[secrowtary]

[ Hibiki's so, so glad to hear this. You have no idea, Haru.

Despite the situation, the Palai are very welcoming and not only offer them a place to rest but some food and drinks as well. He gazes at Haru, not sure how to respond. On the one hand, they should eat something, but on the other...even if they're protecting these people, it's kind of unfair. Who knows if they even have enough food to sustain themselves... ]

[mapsio]

[ She's got you Hibiki. She will help the Palai prepare the food and when they all sit down with the food she will motion for both Hibiki and the Palai. ]

We appreciate your hospitality, but we figure that you and your family could also benefit from this meal. Please sit down and eat with us.

[ It seems that Haru is somewhat decent and handling these sorts of situations.
She would have to handle similar ones as the heiress of her Father's company at home.
Shared hospitality was just Her Thing. ]

[secrowtary]

Please do.

[ Hibiki follows Haru's request with his own, and bows slightly. The Palai seem to be overjoyed, to say the least. They lead their guests to the place of honor by the table and make them sit down there. ]

Oh, it's not necessary... [ Too late, you're not getting away!! ] Thank you.

[ And just a few minutes later, they do what Palai do best...ask questions. What are their names, where they're from, how are their worlds like, what magic ability do they possess. ]

This is too much...

[mapsio]

[The Palai truly are good at barraging their guests with questions. Haru entertains it for a while before noticing that Hibiki's patience and perhaps her own were wearing thin.

She has an idea.]

We really are tired right now, thank you for the meal. Do you think we could have a place to rest ourselves for a little while?

We want to continue protecting you, so in order to do that we need a place to make a strategy.

[The Palai seem pretty convinced, one of the older ones seems to be going to clear out a room for them.]

[secrowtary]

[ Hibiki is speechless. When the Palai leave, he doesn't take his eyes from her even for a while. Actually, he doesn't even blink.]

Haru-san...

[ He can't persuade the Palai no matter what he does, but Haru did it just like that, almost effortlessly. ]

I'm impressed.

[mapsio]

Ah, why?

[She sits down, taking a breath.]

I've spent many years listening to my Father negotiate with business deals and other things that pertain to that. I guess I gained my negotiation skills from him.

[Plus the shadow negotiation when they are in palaces.]

[secrowtary]

Not only it's a very useful skill, it also feels like you've mastered it already.

[ Hibiki nods, his lips quirking up in a smile. ]

Did you have to be present during the negotiations? And you didn't find it boring?

[mapsio]

My father preferred not to have me there, but I always ended up somewhere near to listen in.

[She wasn't even there for her arranged marriage negotiation. Which in all honesty sucked.] I'll still need those skills later on, and they came in handy just now... so I'm happy.

[secrowtary]

Negotiation skills are very important, indeed. Even in everyday life...not that everyone can notice it, though. Which is a shame. [ Hibiki nods a few times before asking: ] By the way, are you feeling any better?

[mapsio]

It helps move things along sometimes, as you saw. One day I'm going to help manage the company, and manage one of my own... so it's going to be important.

[She pauses for a moment....] Somewhat, yes. What about you?

[secrowtary]

So that's how it is. I wouldn't have guessed...

[ He's rather curious and only barely manages not to flood Haru with questions. That would be rude. But just one more shouldn't be too bad, right? ]

What kind of a company is it?

[mapsio]

I am often told I don't look the type. But really, my dream is to open my own coffee shop.

[The image of Haru in a quaint little cafe is probably closer to what they are going for.]

A food industry. It's called Okumura Foods.

[secrowtary]

To be fair, I'm not quite sure what the business type would even be like.

[ Hibiki's processing new information...and puts on a serious expression. ]

If you manage to open it, do you think you could hire Akira? He's going to need a decent job.

[ Hibiki stop being a mom ]

Oh, but if it's a food industry then opening your own coffee shop should be within your reach, is that right?

[She giggles a little.]

Akira-kun is getting really good at brewing coffee, I think I would hire him right away.

[Haru finds it cute, honestly. Akira must stay on the path of being a Not Delinquent. Haru will be there to support him.]

... well, I had thoughts of opening it separately from the company.

[secrowtary]

Please do, I'll be in your debt.

[ Fully aware that he won't be around to keep an eye on him there, Hibiki's kind of relieved that Akira has so many reliable friends. ]

I see. Well, if it's you, I'm sure you'll open it sooner rather than later. Thinking up a name would be a good idea.

[mapsio]

No need to be in my debt. You vouching for Akira-kun is enough, not a lot of people would.

[ So to hear that someone would vouch for one of her best friends is definitely heartwarming for her. Akira was more than the label he was forced to take and not a ton of people were going to give him a chance. ]

What do you think a good name would be?

[secrowtary]

[ While what Haru has just said makes him wonder about what exactly happened back in their world and why no one would vouch for Akira, he doesn't mean to pry. ]

Don't be too soft on him if he slacks off too much, though.

[ His own words are accompanied with an innocent smile. Is he joking? Is he serious? ]

Oh, I'm not sure. It should be catchy, I suppose. Hm..."Cool beans"?

[ What a nerd. He feels so old right now ]

[She thinks that should be something for Akira to tell. He reputation and his record and all.]

I will be the toughest boss around.

[She starts giggling.]

Not quite as eloquent as I was hoping.

[secrowtary]

[ He thought that puns are the way to go. Maybe they are...good ones, at least. That was...well. ]

I'm sorry, I lack in experience for this kind of thing. [ Now he has to make up for it!! ] Maybe you could use a French word instead...?

[mapsio]

It's okay, Hibiki-kun. Don't worry about it. I haven't really thought of much either.

[She giggles.] Now, I don't want to be too predictable either!
