You're not doing anything right now, right? Good. Genette's using some of the resources taken from Aimintas to create a little get together. Even if you do have something going on, she's not averse to using a little force to make the evening magical. In fact, the magic is exactly how she's pulling this off. Genette is offering you to a little get together at the base camp, which may be all it takes for you to follow her. If not? Your hand is tethered (or some other part of you) quickly and you're led to the camp anyway. This is important, darn it! What's so important? A little "party" of sorts. There's an assortment of foods, some of which have been hastily made since some groups have gone harvesting for new resources, and a large water basin that's acting as a punch bowl. The true purpose of this little activity is a 'get to know you' exercise of sorts. Genette's got a glass container of a large quantity of Elto bones that can short-circuit the tethers, but the caveat is that you have to participate in a little, tethered sharing circle. (It's honestly a good idea to know who you're stuck within your little makeshift coven, but Genette is the pushy sort when she sets her mind to something.) The way to be released from your Elto shackles? Tell everyone your name, where you're from, your magic (seemingly left a little ambiguous) and something else about yourself. Discussions are encouraged! The more people know, the better! After you're done sharing with the class, food and drink is yours to have -- or you can just run off, that's fine too. OOC: Characters who would have absolutely nothing to do with this can of course escape, whether fleeing in the first place or using Elto bones of their own to circuit out their tether. A ▢ This is it -- your character can breathe deeply, unlock their knees and get this little activity over with. All they have to do is share the criteria and they're free to go! B ▢ Afterwards, their free to stick around the area and mingle. There IS food and also drinks. They may also want to have a more private conversation about something they learned tonight.

[she scoots a little closer, so she can get a better look at the art supplies they're working with today.]

Umm, how about... something you think is cute?

Something cute? Hmmm....

[she looks down at the paper and crayons, thinking, and not minding at all that there are a few colors missing. she can work with that — honestly, picking something cute to draw might be the hardest part of this, because pretty much anything small and fluffy fits Madoka's definition of cute.]

Ah! I know.

[when in doubt, draw the small fluffy thing you remember wishing to save. she's silent for a good 15 minutes, completely lost in concentration.]

[and, well, this is what she comes up with. she seems pretty proud of it, at least!]

[Jake at least has something in mind, because while he does think many things are cute, there's only one animal that has been a constant cute presence for him. His tongue pokes out as he draws, just as quiet as Madoka, though the fruits of his labour are perhaps not quite as impressive as hers are.]

[He figures they can trade and holds up his to show her while also looking at what she drew.]

Oh! That's the fluffiest cat I've ever seen!!

[Jake's drawing is majestic. the wings. the horns. the ... are those sparkles?]

[if there were ever a timeline where Madoka could contract again, and she happened to have this drawing, then she would wish to meet one in real life.]

That's ... that's so cool! Is that something from back home, or did you imagine it yourself?

[They are definitely sparkles and he beams at her.]

It's a bull fairy! There were bunches of them on my island. They were so cute and loved to cuddle all the time.

Really? Are they big like regular bulls are? Can they fly with those wings?

Yep, it's the dust from their wings! They can fly and they're awfully small. Maybe the size of our heads! They like frolicking in groups.

That sounds so cute ... I really wish I could cuddle one!

[and now she's absently doodling a bull fairy on her own paper, next to the cat.]

Amy is sort of a free spirit, so I don't get to pet her very often. I'm hoping to win her over one day, though.

They look like good chums. But, um, cats are notoriously difficult to win over, right?

I think so! I feel like I read that you have to help them feel really safe around you — but "safe" probably means something different for every cat.

[she is going to add a giant cloud of dust around this bull fairy drawing while she talks.]

I guess it's sort of the same for people, too.

Huh. That's awfully deep. [It sounds so simple but he didn't think of it that way.] Though, animals feel a mite easier to handle than people.

You're right about that ... I know we joke about cats being mysterious, but I think I've met way more people who are much harder to read.

[Madoka can't stop herself from wondering, either, if Jake feels safe around her. that would be a weird question to ask, though, wouldn't it? so she doesn't.]

That's okay, though — it's definitely not a bad thing.

You don't mind doing pirouettes through the labyrinthine mindfield of the heart?

[Madoka ... needs a moment to process the mental image Jake just gave her. it's actually a pretty incredible one.]

[and then she grins.]

When you put it that way, it sounds like it'd be a lot of fun. But no, I don't mind at all! Especially when it's my friends' hearts.

[He smiles. Madoka really does have a good heart. He knows Dirk says 'Heart' isn't actually emotions and shit, that it's about selfhood and souls or something, but he imagines if Dirk took a peek in, he'd see something beautiful, something unique.]

Well, any friend of yours must feel blessed. [A beat, front teeth briefly pressing into his lip in hesitation before he continues.] Um, I mean. I do?

[Madoka already fills the role of Pink Magical Girl, and Jake's gone and made her even pinker. excellent work.]

[and even though she's flustered, it's also something she honestly needed to hear. when she'd first sat down, there was a lot weighing on her shoulders — questions whose answers are far out of reach, at least, on this little low frequency island.]

[they're still there, of course, but right now, Madoka feels safe. and now she's reasonably certain that Jake does, too.]

The feeling's mutual. [she smiles down at her drawing.]
