[HUB ISLAND | ICE BREAKERS]

Who: Coven Members
Where: Coven Base Camp
When: Day 90
Open/Closed: OTA

You're not doing anything right now, right? Good. Genette's using some of the resources taken from Aimintas to create a little get together. Even if you do have something going on, she's not averse to using a little force to make the evening magical.

In fact, the magic is exactly how she's pulling this off. Genette is offering you to a little get together at the base camp, which may be all it takes for you to follow her. If not? Your hand is tethered (or some other part of you) quickly and you're led to the camp anyway. This is important, darn it!

What's so important? A little "party" of sorts. There's an assortment of foods, some of which have been hastily made since some groups have gone harvesting for new resources, and a large water basin that's acting as a punch bowl.

The true purpose of this little activity is a 'get to know you' exercise of sorts. Genette's got a glass container of a large quantity of Elto bones that can short-circuit the tethers, but the caveat is that you have to participate in a little, tethered sharing circle.

(It's honestly a good idea to know who you're stuck within your little makeshift coven, but Genette is the pushy sort when she sets her mind to something.)

The way to be released from your Elto shackles? Tell everyone your name, where you're from, your magic (seemingly left a little ambiguous) and something else about yourself. Discussions are encouraged! The more people know, the better!

After you're done sharing with the class, food and drink is yours to have -- or you can just run off, that's fine too.

OOC: Characters who would have absolutely nothing to do with this can of course escape, whether fleeing in the first place or using Elto bones of their own to circuit out their tether.

A ▢ This is it -- your character can breathe deeply, unlock their knees and get this little activity over with. All they have to do is share the criteria and they're free to go!

B ▢ Afterwards, their free to stick around the area and mingle. There IS food and also drinks. They may also want to have a more private conversation about something they learned tonight.

Er, I was possessed at the time, so I don't really remember the details, but...

[ Flashback to Reimu's... entire personality. They definitely didn't just peacefully talk it out. ]

Well, a shrine maiden exorcised the ghost and put her back in the letters, so in the end, it basically turned out fine.

I should've expected that part...

[Considering that most of the time, the one being possessed are usually unconscious throughout the experience -- or worse. Either way, Nike was relieved to know there was a happy ending.]

Good to hear you came out of it all right. It was lucky there was a shrine maiden that could've helped you. Is it normal for something like that to happen to you?
decipheringeye: (Did you know that... books)

[personal profile] decipheringeye 2017-10-28 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
I mean, getting possessed isn't something I made a habit of, but I do have a more than a few magical artifacts at my book store, so it's not the first time I've gotten into some kind of weird trouble.
drizzle: (thanks for helping me)

[personal profile] drizzle 2017-10-30 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, you own a book store! I didn't know that. What kind of artifacts do you have?

[She can't help feel more and more curious over the type of lifestyle the other girl has had in her world. It all sounds pretty fascinating! Then again, the thought of a world with a close relationship between humans and spirits is more than enough to intrigue her.]
decipheringeye: (Time for books)

[personal profile] decipheringeye 2017-10-30 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[What's that? 'Please, Kosuzu, brag about your collection'? If you insist!]

I've got magic grimoires, books written by youkai, youma books... the most valuable ones in my collection are probably the Necronomicon and the Night Parade Scroll.

[Yes, please do brag about your collection, were exactly Nike's thoughts as she happily listens before...well, getting kinda intrigue at some words she has never heard of.]

That sounds like a good collection! But, what are youma, Necronomicon, and the Night Parade? I assume they're all youkai stuff than there being an actual night parade....
decipheringeye: (I suspect that books)

[personal profile] decipheringeye 2017-10-31 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Youma books are the most important part of the collection. They're books recording the existence and last desires of forgotten youkai. What makes them so valuable is that a book like that actually still contains the spirit of the youkai itself, so they're basically alive.
drizzle: (oh what could it be)

[personal profile] drizzle 2017-10-31 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
They're still alive while being trapped inside a book?

[Damn. Those poor bastards....]

How many of those books do you have? The ones with the forgotten youkai living inside of them? Do you use them in any way or are they just there to collect without so much as reading their books?

[More like, do they get the chance to go out or are forever trapped in a book? Although, something tells her she shouldn't sympathize with them, but...she can't help it, considering she understands the feelings of being trapped and forgotten.]
decipheringeye: (boooooo)

[personal profile] decipheringeye 2017-11-01 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess it's more like... they aren't alive, but under the right circumstances, the books can bring them back to life? They're the rarest of rare books, so the main reason I gather them is as a collector, but I read them sometimes, too.
drizzle: (that is so freaking impressive)

[personal profile] drizzle 2017-11-03 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Books that can bring creatures back to life?

[Yes, she is very impressed as she makes a sound indicating it.]

No wonder you're so proud of having them! I would want something like that too if it existed in my world. It must be really cool to read! Do they pop out or anything like that whenever you do?
decipheringeye: (ok buddy)

[personal profile] decipheringeye 2017-11-03 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
Well... They do pop out, sometimes, but it's probably not as fun as you're imagining. Youkai can be pretty dangerous.
drizzle: (33)

[personal profile] drizzle 2017-11-05 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
I guess not. I really have no way of knowing, you know. Youkai don't exactly exist in my world. Or, at the very least, they may go by a different name for all I know. Spirits exist in my world, but demons....

[Looking through her memories of the voices she has sense, heard, and felt in her life back home, she has no memory of ever interacting with a sinister one. She has always spoken with the spirits and ghosts of those that have died or she had encounter and summoned, but none has ever attempted to harm her. Only her world has posses her, but not enough to completely overtake her.]

Can you tell me a little more about it?
decipheringeye: (We'll just never know)

[personal profile] decipheringeye 2017-11-07 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
[ Whew, having to explain youkai to other people on her own again...]

Akyuu explained it to me once, but the basic theory is pretty complicated...

Youkai are something like... monsters created out of the fears of humans. It's like, if there's a strange sound from the woods, and people start to think that a monster is causing it, then eventually a youkai will be born from the idea of "the source of the strange noise in the woods". But at the same time, if people went out and found out that it was just a bear or something, then the youkai would gradually lose its power from then on, because the basis for its existence was denied.
drizzle: (thoughtfully serious)

[personal profile] drizzle 2017-11-09 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't sound all that complicated....

[At the very least, it was a pretty simple concept by the sounds of it.]

Basically, youkai are creatures created by people's overactive imaginations, basically feeding off the negative aspects of it until the person learns the true source of it, then they lose their power because the person is no longer imagining them -- which is another way of summoning or creating them?

[Okay. She wasn't the best in repeating simple explanations, but she wanted to make absolute certain she understood the other girl.]
decipheringeye: (Did you know that... books)

[personal profile] decipheringeye 2017-11-09 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
Something like that? Which is why spreading information about an old youkai recklessly can be dangerous sometimes. It means their power gets revived a little, because people are acknowledging their existence again. [ Or something. ]

The complicated part is that, I guess... well, you'd think a creature like that would just be evil, right? I've even talked to a lot of people who agreed that that's how it is, and that they're just enemies of humanity. But on the other hand, I've talked to youkai who were perfectly nice people...
