You're not doing anything right now, right? Good. Genette's using some of the resources taken from Aimintas to create a little get together. Even if you do have something going on, she's not averse to using a little force to make the evening magical. In fact, the magic is exactly how she's pulling this off. Genette is offering you to a little get together at the base camp, which may be all it takes for you to follow her. If not? Your hand is tethered (or some other part of you) quickly and you're led to the camp anyway. This is important, darn it! What's so important? A little "party" of sorts. There's an assortment of foods, some of which have been hastily made since some groups have gone harvesting for new resources, and a large water basin that's acting as a punch bowl. The true purpose of this little activity is a 'get to know you' exercise of sorts. Genette's got a glass container of a large quantity of Elto bones that can short-circuit the tethers, but the caveat is that you have to participate in a little, tethered sharing circle. (It's honestly a good idea to know who you're stuck within your little makeshift coven, but Genette is the pushy sort when she sets her mind to something.) The way to be released from your Elto shackles? Tell everyone your name, where you're from, your magic (seemingly left a little ambiguous) and something else about yourself. Discussions are encouraged! The more people know, the better! After you're done sharing with the class, food and drink is yours to have -- or you can just run off, that's fine too. OOC: Characters who would have absolutely nothing to do with this can of course escape, whether fleeing in the first place or using Elto bones of their own to circuit out their tether. A ▢ This is it -- your character can breathe deeply, unlock their knees and get this little activity over with. All they have to do is share the criteria and they're free to go! B ▢ Afterwards, their free to stick around the area and mingle. There IS food and also drinks. They may also want to have a more private conversation about something they learned tonight.

Sorry. [He does not, for the record, sound terribly sorry.] I'm asking because I came across some freshwater fishing equipment not that long ago. I presume it means that the fish in this area can be eaten, although there's only one way to find out for sure, of course.

[He shrugs.] And because it seems a lot of people in our group don't have those sorts of skills. The kind you would ordinarily need to survive in a place like this.

[The context makes Lalli's shoulders ease, though he subsequently goes back to tugging his shackle since his attention isn't completely taken.]

Nnn. Lots of people are civilians. It's weird. [...how...] I was born surrounded by lakes. If you want me to fish, I can do that. Or hunt boar.

[His mouth quirks up at that.]

Most people are civilians, at least on my world. Although it is a little odd that Qri's summoned so many here. Let me ask around and see who can't catch their own food first. And if there's anything you need, don't hesitate to ask--if I can't help you, I may be able to find someone who can.

[lalliho]

[He tips his head, even if he isn't looking at Jay.]

...What would I be needing?

[He can't think of anything, outside of the obvious stuff no one in the coven can grant.]

Well, I don't know. Anything that would make your life here a little easier.

[life...made...easier??? judging by the look he's giving jay, this does not compute.]

[He seems amused by that, at least??]

Nothing? Well, that's perfectly fine too.

...I guess I could ask Emil. He needs stuff more than I do, I think. If it works that way?

[Is he allowed to trade favors in someone's stead...]

It's for strategic purposes. If we need to organize in our own defense like we did against the Uvi, I'd like us all to have some idea of our collective capabilities so we can plan accordingly.

[lalliho]

Oh. I didn't really do that.

[He was busy being a gay new dad, tbh.]

Nn... I'm better for patrols even though I can fight. I'm a military scout.

You weren't obligated to.

[He appears to mean this, at least.]

Is that right? I'll remember that, then, if we ever have to do something similar in the future.

[Nod, and then he gestures at the forms.]

I'm Lalli, so I don't sleep. [Since he filled it out at some random point before... And meaning he can do this patrolling stuff whenever.] I didn't really understand what was all happening in Aimintas... But they still let us take one of their babies, so I guess it was okay? Unless it was really bad and they thought they would all die.

[rebells]

I see. It's good to meet you properly, Lalli.

[He sobers, though, when they start talking about Aimintas.]

I don't think things were that dire, no. But they almost seemed to worship us; it's not surprising to me that they let us raise the orphaned children.

[lalliho]

...A lot of us here are children. If they're okay with children raising children, then they must not have any family left at all.

[rebells]

. . . a lot of Palai died in the last raid.

[Quietly.]

[lalliho]

[He nods, expression unchanging.]

I did their funerals. A lot of them, anyway.

It just seems weird to me, I guess.

[rebells]

You're not wrong. It's odd. But if the children had no close family--they thought of us as exalted in some way. Holy, almost. They might have thought we'd bring blessings to their children by raising them.

[He doesn't seem entirely comfortable with this, but it is what it is.]

[lalliho]

[Pfft. Lalli clearly thinks that's completely ridiculous. But then, the Palai had given the egg to Emil, not Lalli. Maybe he was blessed when it came to a happy, healthy family. He could only hope. And keep a watchful eye.]

Keep them entertained with lots of magic, at least.

[rebells]

[He snorts, but the smile turns serious.]

Collectively, we do probably have a better capacity to defend ourselves than the Palai do.
