Where: On the beach, and various other places throughout the hub island
When: Day 80, and the next couple days after
Open/Closed: open log for hub shenanigans!

[This evening, someone has placed an old, rusted-over camp stove on the beach near the coven's row of huts--anyone examining it in detail will see that it's not operational at the moment, but that could potentially be changed, couldn't it? If someone was handy with mechanical things . . . .

Next to it is a crate (which, from the weight of it is empty) and pinned to that crate is a sheet of paper with a map on it, something like a much cruder, black-and-white version of this:



with the following key:

1 - crags. Contain snakes which may be poisonous. Watch out.
2 - ocean, going about one mile out from the coast.
3 - lagoon. Contains thick reeds (could be woven or shaped into tools) and frogs (edibility uncertain).
4 - abandoned campsite.
5 - orchard. Currently, trees are diseased and bare. Plant healer needed.
6 - abandoned house. A family used to live here, from the looks of it. Still contains some useful supplies.

And there should be a 7 north of base camp with the notation "graveyard. Graves unused." but the player forgot and is too lazy to go back and fix it right now. Observant individuals will note that the map looks like a more detailed version of one hanging on the door to a certain coven member's cabin, one that has a note on the bottom: "Have information? Ask for Jay."

Other than that, it's a quiet night on the hub island. We've been here for a couple days; maybe you're getting restless? Want to check out that ocean, or lagoon, or even those crags? Maybe just go door-to-door in the beach huts? Maybe you're sick of shrimp and looking for other things to eat . . . hopefully someone's got a fire going tonight, and thought to kill a boar . . . .

Some princesses aren't really royalty, either. [He thinks? He always forgets how Disney decides which ones are official princesses versus just leading ladies but frankly All Women Are Queens so who cares. They're all princesses to him.] But if you don't like sticking yourself in a box, then you don't have to be either one. You can just be you. You seem awful swell just as you are anyway.

[apatheia]

[There's something ironic about the idea of sticking herself in a box when she's literally powered by a box....]

... Thanks, I think. [She's not familiar with the word "swell" in the way he used it, but she thinks she can guess from context clues.] I'm not against being one of those, but I don't really understand the criteria for being one. What makes a princess a princess, if not being royalty?

[What does make the Disney Princesses all Princesses? Is it just royalty? No, it can't be. Mulan is one. He thinks. She's a female protagonist in a Disney movie so she must be.]

Well... the royalty bit is important! But you need a kind heart, courage, determination... [What else do they all have in common?] ...A lot of them sing, I guess...

[Even the ones from the less musical ones sing.]

I don't sing. [So in the end, she couldn't become a princess........]

Well... Then maybe you could just be your own type of princess.

[apatheia]

My own type of princess. [She's still not sure on what makes a princess a princess then...] I guess there's no reason I couldn't be.

[potentite]

[He nods.] Excellent. I've always wanted to see a real Disney Princess.

[apatheia]

I'll do my best to not disappoint then. [The best Disney princess there ever was! Although it's not like she even knows what "Disney" is.....]

[potentite]

Don't think too hard about it. I think as long as you're enjoying yourself, that's enough.

[Because every girl wants to be a princess right? So clearly with this true statement, all android girls want to, too.]

[apatheia]

... That's easier said than done.

[How is she NOT supposed to think hard about this?? Everything from human culture and practices is so foreign to her, they kind of require serious consideration.]

[potentite]

I understand. I try not to think about anything but when I do, I just overthink everything.

[apatheia]

When it comes to humans, I find it difficult not to overthink things.

[potentite]

If it helps, humans are always overthinking each other, too. We're always causing problems for others from misunderstandings and such. Not that I'm proud of it, it just... is how it is.

[apatheia]

Those kinds of misunderstandings could be cleared up simply by communicating with each other though, right?

[... Well, not that she has much room to talk. She knows exactly what it's like to cause misunderstandings from a lack of communication. For her though, it was always intended.]

[potentite]

[Ah. Miscommunication. He flushes and frowns slightly.]

Yes, that's true, but... [How to explain it to her?] Have you ever been afraid of what someone will think of you? If they might come to hate you? Or think less of you?

[apatheia]

[There's a quiet but heavy sigh. She knows all too well what that's like.]

... Yeah. I have.

[potentite]

[He nods. As much as he doesn't wish she understood, at least it's easy to explain it that way.]

Maybe communicating would clear up things. But it might lead to... being alone and hated. Maybe rightly, sometimes. But it's not easy to do. I know me and my friends were all hiding things from each other with that fear in mind.

[apatheia]

Are things better now though?

[He said "were" so!! Let her have hope for someone else since she thinks her case is pretty hopeless..........]

[potentite]

Um, I think so. [Wait, that might be too vague and worry her.] Dirk and I talk a lot now! And... if I see Roxy and Jane again, I'm going to give them the apologies they deserve. It's okay if they don't forgive me when it's done. They just... deserve to hear it.

[apatheia]

That's good. I'm glad.

[They're simple statements, but there's a soft warmth to her voice. She's genuinely glad that someone out there is fixing their communication problems.]

If that chance ever comes, I hope things work out for the best.
