[WORLD ONE | DING DONG THE FISH IS DEAD]
Who: Coven members and the Palai
Where: Celebrating the Uvi going boom-boom
When: Day 67
Open/Closed: Open to All
OOC Note:

The initial setting information found here should be utilized for threads here.
There's no official OOC account for the Palai people. You're free to roleplay their actions and reactions on your own, as in depth as you want -- asking questions, hand-waved interactions, becoming best friends. The new world is your oyster!
Where: Celebrating the Uvi going boom-boom
When: Day 67
Open/Closed: Open to All
OOC Note:

For decades, the Palai have had to deal with the threat of the Uvi invading their homes, killing their families and returning 30 days later. After the coven found their way to Aimintas, the Palai found that the threat wasn't so...threatening. After the last attack, with many more Palai lost as compared to previous Uvi instances, some Palai had lost hope. Now, after seeing their nemesis blown to bits and falling out of the ocean, their faith in safety is restored. While the Uvi are still committed (by and large) to learning more about barriers and other forms of safety, the time for focusing on serious things has passed. It will return, but tonight? They celebrate. Unlike their last, shrimpy festival, this party has a lot more going for it. The Palai have had time to process the events and prepare themselves for a grand celebration. The Palai know how to party, but you ain't seen nothin' like this.
B ▢ Despite the adults getting lit, there are obviously a lot of baby Palai on the lose. Responsible coven members who have their own babies will have the ability to let them run wild and play with their lizardy cousins. If you want to spend time with your baby, the nursery caretakers have platters of crackers with mushy foods adorning them -- these are essentially candy to a tiny Palai. They may also be tempted by other foods present at the festivities, but you can avoid them getting a tummy ache if you have a watchful eye. C ▢ Speaking of food, there certainly is a lot of it. There are large grills being heated by the newly found bone structures. These hold shrimp and fish, grilled vegetable skewers and other foods. Instead of the Palai doing the serving, the coven members and other Palai are instead encouraged to utilize their own raw ingredients (which includes several large sharks, dolphins, etc.) in whatever fashion they choose. It's essentially a "build-your-own-kabob" station with no limits. D ▢ Because the party is lasting on into the night, some Elto have decided to light the marketplace with some of the bone structures they found by powering them and inserting them into small cloth bags that they then magically levitate around. While they provide a powerful light source that can increase the party's longevity, they're also floating live wires. Bump into one of these and you'll get a nasty shock! This is doubly concerning since Palai babies are fascinated by following these floating "toys." E ▢ The Palai, feeling more familial and supportive of their ideals than ever, haven't let go of the whole family/romance pushing on the coven. Their newest attempt is a bit of a prank (probably due to high Palais) who have taken magic bone structures and tied thick strings to the spines that poke out of them. At the end of these strings are loops that they're quickly slipping around the wrists of coven members they find. You may find that you're suddenly magically connected to someone -- or two other people if you're lucky enough -- by a magical thread that's VERY hard to slip out of or break. F ▢ Wildcard Part 1: Other previous party prompts can also be considered here, from the rolls that make magic go haywire to the aged liquor that causes a bit more than a headache. G ▢ Wildcard Part 2: Any prompt you like! |

[the biggest downside to having manners and attempting to always be polite is that refusing offered goods can't happen. needless to say, flynn couldn't say no upon being offered a vile. or two. or possibly 3.
what this leads to is a very relaxed and very happy and very high flynn. his body sways lightly as he leans against a table. the ground got so unsteady that table ended up the only thing keeping him from falling over. an earthquake? who knows! everything is great, even the earthquake. the lazy smile on his face and half-lidded gaze only emphasize his level of relaxation. he lifts up a hand and studies it far too intently.]
Have you have noticed how hands are just forks but on your arms?
[what an insightful thought! whatever these herbs are, they really allow for meaningful epiphanies. he'll have to take one or two and save them for another time.]
d.
[a good way to snap flynn out of his waxing philosophical thought is witnessing people in danger. babies drawn to dangerous floating orbs does the job well enough. lack of balance be damned, he can't let innocent children potentially harm themselves! several babies avoided shocks thanks to his effort.
another baby drawn to those pesky orbs catches his eye. he darts on over as fast as he can, which isn't the brightest idea considering his current inability to walk properly let alone attempt to run. even so!! the faster the better for the child's sake!]
Please stop! That's dangerous!
[just as flynn moves to pick up the baby, the baby spots something more interesting toward the left and unexpectedly changes directions. the suddenness of that coupled with the lingering effects of the herbs and his speed mean three things happen: first, flynn's eyes follow the child while forgetting to look ahead, then, he loses his footing while attempting to change direction himself and finally, he falls right into whoever's in front of him. whoops?]
e.
[what is it with the palai and trying to set people up! it's cultural, yes, but why keep dragging him into these awkward situations? attempting to break the string proves futile. figures. flynn tugs on the string one final time before letting out an exasperated sigh. he'll give whoever's unfortunate enough to be stuck with him a small smile.]
You wouldn't happen to know how to escape this, would you?
[short of cutting off his own arm, he's willing to try anything.]
a
[This guy seemed so chill the other day what happened--well, he's still obviously chill, but this isn't the type of chill Souda is looking for. He's been unfortunately unable to hide out in the house away from the celebration as even pink mechanics must eat and the minute he was outside Palai were all about hustling him along to their newest celebration.
Now here he is. He's not imbibing anything in a vial given to him, that's too suspicious so he's just pop-eyed at everything... going on...
Including Flynn.]
I mean, I guess, but? [???] Are you okay...
no subject
No. I'm Flynn. [he pauses thoughtfully.] Though would I still be me even if I wasn't named me?
[would a rose by any other name be just as flynn? ah, so deep!]
no subject
[Souda's not super on board for this, okay!
He's actually wondering something more along the lines of if Flynn is drunk rather than high. What? He doesn't know everyone's losing their minds over these vials that're being handed around.]
no subject
Maybe. [he can't deny it.] What if I was named something else? If my name was Yuri then would I be as reckless and stupid as he is or would I still have my common sense? Or if I were named Estellise then would I turn into a woman?
[girl name being for a girl means becoming a girl. great logic, right?
no subject
[Estellise is a girl's name, right? Foreign names... Now that he thinks about it, though, what if he was named Sonia, would he be a princes-- no, he won't do this too!!]
Did you have somethin' to drink?
no subject
They were handing out these vials of herbal supplements so I took several. [the palai kept offering and offering so how could he refuse?] I have to admit to feeling more relaxed than I've felt in ages thanks to them.
no subject
[P-pulls out a vial from his pocket.] L-like this?!
no subject
[his cheery expression quickly turns thoughtful.]
Well, not exactly since exactly would be the ones I already drank and those don't exist anymore, not in a drinkable state but it's similar.
no subject
Yeah, yeah, I got it. [It was drugs... alcohol... either way.] You should have some water or something.
[How does one help this wear off?? Souda doesn't know.]
no subject
Why? I'm not a fish.
[because only fish need water. it... it isn't a completely illogical train of thought??]
no subject
Not just fish need water! [is he barking up the wrong tree trying to reason when Flynn's like this... maybe]

Eventually, she glances up.]
No.

A knife alone may not work. Chances are the string is enchanted by their magic so brute force won't be effective.
[he remembers the speed dating chairs. those were impossible to get out of by struggling and this might be a similar brand of magic.]
no subject
[She bristles a little; she tends to read condescension in even when it isn't intended, and she doesn't like the feeling that she's being talked down to. She saws a couple more times, for good measure, before giving it up.]
Did you have a better idea?
no subject
[the magic could wear off on its own. if not then asking is probably easier than attempting to saw through near indestructible string.]
no subject
no subject
M-maybe so but surely some of them can be reasoned with. Telling them we can't [he goes redder] perform in the manner they want in circumstances like this may sway them.
no subject
Okay. You can try that.
no subject
[that skeptical look ends up enough to get him to admit as such.]
If brute force won't work and asking for their help is out of the question then what else can we do?
no subject
[She pronounces it with a level of distaste . . . but she really can't think of anything better. Performing romance to get this thing off is out of the question.]
We could start fighting each other. Maybe that would get them to take it off.
no subject
A loud enough of a discourse coupled with minor injury might be enough to get them to do that.
[the palai are a kind people so they'd likely release them as soon as things start to go south. they just need to make it believable. both of them yelling and possibly a slap or something tossed in somewhere during the act ought to suffice.]
As long as you're not opposed to it, this sounds like our best bet.
no subject
She can't think of any reason to object, though, so:]
Okay. Right. [Unfortunately, Tara-Fay is not the greatest of actresses. She racks her brains to come up with an imaginary slight, and gets only,] I told you I didn't want to talk to you!
[It's loud, at least, even if her voice does crack on the told.]

[ the answer is yes, probably, but flynn probably hasn't realized that yet. camilla is both a battle maniac and a general maniac, unfortunately. ]
no subject
Not at all. I only wish we were stuck together by choice rather than having it forced on us.
[the magic string binding them together ruins the mood.]
