[WORLD ONE | DING DONG THE FISH IS DEAD]
Who: Coven members and the Palai
Where: Celebrating the Uvi going boom-boom
When: Day 67
Open/Closed: Open to All
OOC Note:

The initial setting information found here should be utilized for threads here.
There's no official OOC account for the Palai people. You're free to roleplay their actions and reactions on your own, as in depth as you want -- asking questions, hand-waved interactions, becoming best friends. The new world is your oyster!
Where: Celebrating the Uvi going boom-boom
When: Day 67
Open/Closed: Open to All
OOC Note:

For decades, the Palai have had to deal with the threat of the Uvi invading their homes, killing their families and returning 30 days later. After the coven found their way to Aimintas, the Palai found that the threat wasn't so...threatening. After the last attack, with many more Palai lost as compared to previous Uvi instances, some Palai had lost hope. Now, after seeing their nemesis blown to bits and falling out of the ocean, their faith in safety is restored. While the Uvi are still committed (by and large) to learning more about barriers and other forms of safety, the time for focusing on serious things has passed. It will return, but tonight? They celebrate. Unlike their last, shrimpy festival, this party has a lot more going for it. The Palai have had time to process the events and prepare themselves for a grand celebration. The Palai know how to party, but you ain't seen nothin' like this.
B ▢ Despite the adults getting lit, there are obviously a lot of baby Palai on the lose. Responsible coven members who have their own babies will have the ability to let them run wild and play with their lizardy cousins. If you want to spend time with your baby, the nursery caretakers have platters of crackers with mushy foods adorning them -- these are essentially candy to a tiny Palai. They may also be tempted by other foods present at the festivities, but you can avoid them getting a tummy ache if you have a watchful eye. C ▢ Speaking of food, there certainly is a lot of it. There are large grills being heated by the newly found bone structures. These hold shrimp and fish, grilled vegetable skewers and other foods. Instead of the Palai doing the serving, the coven members and other Palai are instead encouraged to utilize their own raw ingredients (which includes several large sharks, dolphins, etc.) in whatever fashion they choose. It's essentially a "build-your-own-kabob" station with no limits. D ▢ Because the party is lasting on into the night, some Elto have decided to light the marketplace with some of the bone structures they found by powering them and inserting them into small cloth bags that they then magically levitate around. While they provide a powerful light source that can increase the party's longevity, they're also floating live wires. Bump into one of these and you'll get a nasty shock! This is doubly concerning since Palai babies are fascinated by following these floating "toys." E ▢ The Palai, feeling more familial and supportive of their ideals than ever, haven't let go of the whole family/romance pushing on the coven. Their newest attempt is a bit of a prank (probably due to high Palais) who have taken magic bone structures and tied thick strings to the spines that poke out of them. At the end of these strings are loops that they're quickly slipping around the wrists of coven members they find. You may find that you're suddenly magically connected to someone -- or two other people if you're lucky enough -- by a magical thread that's VERY hard to slip out of or break. F ▢ Wildcard Part 1: Other previous party prompts can also be considered here, from the rolls that make magic go haywire to the aged liquor that causes a bit more than a headache. G ▢ Wildcard Part 2: Any prompt you like! |

[She bristles a little; she tends to read condescension in even when it isn't intended, and she doesn't like the feeling that she's being talked down to. She saws a couple more times, for good measure, before giving it up.]
Did you have a better idea?
no subject
[the magic could wear off on its own. if not then asking is probably easier than attempting to saw through near indestructible string.]
no subject
no subject
M-maybe so but surely some of them can be reasoned with. Telling them we can't [he goes redder] perform in the manner they want in circumstances like this may sway them.
no subject
Okay. You can try that.
no subject
[that skeptical look ends up enough to get him to admit as such.]
If brute force won't work and asking for their help is out of the question then what else can we do?
no subject
[She pronounces it with a level of distaste . . . but she really can't think of anything better. Performing romance to get this thing off is out of the question.]
We could start fighting each other. Maybe that would get them to take it off.
no subject
A loud enough of a discourse coupled with minor injury might be enough to get them to do that.
[the palai are a kind people so they'd likely release them as soon as things start to go south. they just need to make it believable. both of them yelling and possibly a slap or something tossed in somewhere during the act ought to suffice.]
As long as you're not opposed to it, this sounds like our best bet.
no subject
She can't think of any reason to object, though, so:]
Okay. Right. [Unfortunately, Tara-Fay is not the greatest of actresses. She racks her brains to come up with an imaginary slight, and gets only,] I told you I didn't want to talk to you!
[It's loud, at least, even if her voice does crack on the told.]
no subject
...when in doubt, think of a very dumb thing his best friend has done and pretend that this woman is him. the tactic proves surprisingly effective as flynn's expression shifts into a very annoyed one.]
And I told you we're not through talking! Then again, you seem as about as good at listening as you are at being reasonable!
[their shouting draws the attention of nearby palai well enough. they just need to keep it long enough to get one of them concerned enough about their safety to come and undo the string.]
no subject
[She's a little startled by how quickly he turned it on, in turn, but she manages a,] That's right! I'm--really bad at listening, so you shouldn't bother talking to me! Leave me alone!
[The Palai nearby are pointing at them in alarm, but don't seem to be taking any further action just yet.]
no subject
flynn forces his expression to go back to that irked one while also remaining worried that he'll overdo things again. this leads to him making a face that is somehow both concerned and angry at the same time. ]
Y-you are incapable of using an ounce of common sense, aren't you? How the hell am I supposed to leave you alone when we're strung together like this?!
[the anger covers up his awkward tone of voice nicely enough.]
no subject
I don't know, just--go stand over there and don't look at me!
[She's not totally acting anymore--this is in fact what she would prefer him to do, although she's not unreasonable enough to actually ask for it.
One of the Palai begins to approach them, looking hesitant.]
no subject
W-will you listen for once?! The string means I can't go anywhere! We're stuck like this, y-you idiot!!
[please hurry up and come over, palai person, and please ignore the stuttering! flynn can only keep this up for so much longer before screwing the act and jumping into intense apologizing!]
no subject
[She raises her hands, as if to physically turn him around, but the Palai gets in between them in the next moment, clearly attempting to placate. Although the placating seems to be more in the vein of desperately trying to get them to calm down rather than doing anything about the string.]
no subject
he mouths 'hit me' the instant the palai turns toward tara. physical violence solves everything!]
no subject
Physical violence isn't any more of her forte than acting is, but after a moment's hesitation she leans forward . . . ]
I said, turn around!
[ . . . and slaps him across the face, as hard as she can, which, given that she's a scrawny teenage girl, isn't that hard. She starts forward to do it again, and the Palai worms their way in between them, arms up. Wait, wait, wait! seems to be the gist of what they're saying.]
no subject
immediately after being struck, his displeased gaze turns toward the palai. does that arm flailing mean they finally get the message? no point in risking it any further if they don't. he speaks up and sounds about as happy as he looks. maybe he's finally gotten the hang of this acting thing! more likely, however, is that his annoyance at the palai doing everything except releasing them is actually real.]
Do you really intend to allow this madness to continue?
no subject
Tara-Fay sighs and shakes out her bound wrist as the Palai works.]
Finally.
no subject
Thank goodness.
[he smiles at the palai.]
Thank you. We should be fine now.
