[OPENING] magical training log
Who: Brie, whichever newbies want to show up.
Where: The beach.

Where: The beach.
When: Day 4
Open/Closed: OTA
[It's about noon on the island, based on the position of the sun. The newbies have had a few days to settle in, but that doesn't mean they've fully mastered their newfound abilities.
As much stock as Genette puts into telepathy, Brie is more concerned about their other newfound gifts. She's aggressively tried to wrangle as many newbies as possible onto the sandy shores of the beachfront area for some magic practice.
She's got a list of everyone's magic -- only a few vague notes, limitations are for you to discover -- and she's handing out missions for magic training. If you want to participate? Feel free. If you don't? Suit yourself.
But understanding your magic isn't just an activity that benefits the group. Learning your magic's abilities may be what stands between you and survival, which is something she makes perfectly clear.]

[there's been a few days to play around with newfound abilities, so he isn't too surprised when he reads the piece of paper with his mission on it, the helpful added scrawl of 'soul dives' drawing his eyes back to the page over and over again. somewhere along the line he pulled together an inkling of exactly what his power is. it sounds straightforward enough. but it also sounds potentially personal, and his hesitation is apparent as he stares at his paper.
but, hey, he won't get any help unless he asks. after a beat, he sends out a telepathic ping.]
I'll need some volunteers for magic training, if anyone's up for it.
b.
[sometime after wrangling at least two people into helping, there's an unconscious (sleeping) body on the ground and a random slightly ajar door standing conspicuously next to said unconscious body. everyone involved looks mildly alarmed except for the sleeping person, who actually looks totally fine.]
I think that's supposed to happen.
b
...if you step in through his door you find yourself inside a smallish, round room with smooth, pale-grey stone walls; there's some hints of carving at the bottom, but they're largely obscured by age. the floor is silvery and ripples like liquid when you step onto it, though it holds up perfectly well under your feet. strange reflections move under it, too, like the shadows of tree branches and a snakelike, shadowy ripple of scales. since Sorey just did a very basic beginner dive there's no additional items in the room.
a perfectly awake, faintly translucent Mikleo is sitting in the middle of the floor, though, looking cross.]
((please reply here if you're going through the door with Sorey! it'll probably be threeway threads from there unless you're poking bits of the room that aren't Mikleo himself.))
no subject
You think.
[HE WILL LET SOREY LEAD THEM THROUGH THE DOOR.]
no subject
[he isn't sure what to expect but IT'S TOTALLY FINE, and without letting himself delay it any longer he pushes into the room. there's some relief that it looks just like a normal, small little room without too much clutter, and he waves apologetically to Mikleo as he shuts the door behind them.]
This isn't bad, right?
no subject
But this seems fine for what it is, I suppose. Hi.
[nodding to both of them]
no subject
Cool soul. Pardon the intrusion.
[The ground actually is really cool. It makes him want to explore underneath again.]

Then, he replies,]
What do you need?
no subject
[there's no weird way to say that]
I was going to ask my friend if he'd be okay with us taking a look inside of his soul. It seems kind of personal, but I figure that it'll only show what he wants it to show.
no subject
On the other hand he's also supposed to destroy them.
Fuck.]
I'll go. Don't worry, dude. I'll respect his privacy.
no subject
You don't mind? Thanks a bunch!
Don't worry, if you did something he didn't like I'm sure he'd just kick you out. It's his soul, he gets to do what he wants with it, not anybody else.
no subject
I'll try to avoid the boot. Where should I meet you?
(no subject)
A
[The telepathic... response... is probably pretty loud?! Way too loud, because Chiaki doesn't know how to control his volume ever.]
Where am I to find you, friend?!
no subject
Over by the bright blue hut near the mansion, you can't miss it.
no subject
[and there's probably some... humming?? of a little super sentai theme tune in sorey's head before chiaki remembers to sever the connection... dumb....
but then he'll knock on the door of the bright blue hut!]
Hello, is anyone home?! It is I, Chiaki Morisawa...!
no subject
and he opens the door when Chiaki knocks, bemused but nonetheless pleased.]
Hey there! I'm Sorey. It's nice to meet you face-to-face.
no subject
The pleasure is mine! What can I do to lend you my aid, Sorey?
(no subject)
a
Sorey, hey! What kind of training are you doing?
no subject
[no point in beating around the bush about it]
no subject
[Look this probably isn't the weirdest thing he's done, but he's curious.]
no subject
[he has never tried this before and it shows]
I'll figure it out before we get stuck inside of one.
no subject
[Well that was easy.]

... better, worse? he doesn't know. instead he lifts his head off his folded forearms, looking out over the sea where he's situated himself in the sands. )
Are there any size limitations with regards to this training?
no subject
[that makes him try to mull it over. there should be some kind of size restriction, probably, but he doesn't know exactly what that might be.]
As long as you're smaller than a house I think you're okay. Is size an issue?
no subject
( a note of amusement to his mental dialog; he's laughing at himself, if nothing else. )
no subject
[although what counts as normal could depend on the person, so that isn't much of a gauge to begin with]
But I'm a little curious about the size anyways. How'd you get bigger than a house?
