[WORLD ONE | SEPTEMBER INTRO LOG]
Who: The new coven members, old blood & Palai people
Where: In and around the city land of Aimintas
When: Day 61
Open/Closed: Open to All

The initial setting information found here should be utilized for threads here.
There's no official OOC account for the Palai people. You're free to roleplay their actions and reactions on your own, as in depth as you want -- asking questions, hand-waved interactions, becoming best friends. The new world is your oyster!
All characters are told briefly what their powers are by Genette -- no extemporaneous details. For instance, if your character has the ability to detect lies, they'll be told as such -- no warning about limitations, repurcussions or the like. They'll also be given a variant of this letter so they aren't totally ignorant of the situation -- though of course adapt this letter to the current setting and surroundings of the game.

Where: In and around the city land of Aimintas
When: Day 61
Open/Closed: Open to All

This setting may be familiar to you -- maybe you caught a glimpse of it when you first visited. Maybe this is your first time experiencing this weird world and the panic is setting in. If you're totally lost, a tall human woman with a long scroll of paper will stop by to give you the run down. She'll also give you a letter, which may give you more questions than answers since the information is a wee out of date. (Maybe someone else can fill in some gaps for you). What you may not know is that this world recently experienced something of a tragedy. You wouldn't be able to guess this based on the festive energy in the air. The main marketplace where you've shown up finished reconstruction last night, and after grief comes joy to the Palai -- those lizard creatures you see wandering around. They're now hosting a festival to celebrate their success and the lives of those both still present and those lost. It's also a chance for them to host one of those big celebrations like they'd previously seen in human books. However, their resources are limited -- don't blame them if things are a little cut-and-paste!

This is all pretty juvenile, but fear not! For the mature sort and adults of Aimintas, there's a more quiet part set up that may cater to your older interests. A softer atmosphere, away from the excitement of things. If you want to wind down from the thrill of being magicked away to a new world, this is probably the best way for it.
D ▢ The environment in this more secluded area of the marketplace is supposed to be more relaxed, but it's also the best place to sit if you want a front row seat to the fireworks exhibit the remaining Eltos are putting on. Through balls of dye and their electrical powers, they're quickly blowing up the sky with arcs of color that rain down in the form of bright pieces of glitter once the spectacle is over. They also have a special service they're offering -- the Eltos have a grasp on electrical magic, which means they can draw certain things in the sky with these dye balls. If you have a request for a written message or a drawing of some sort, they'd be happy to comply with your wish! For the real adult experience, however, you may want to check out the large rolling cart that Palai are pushing around the marketplace, landing it in the fireworks area. This cart is filled with all of the eggs that were a product of their mating season, and this part of Aimintas is the warmest.

Finally, the Palai are getting used to the standard familiar faces, so they aren't unaware that there are quite a few new faces in the mix. Based on how familiar your character is, they'll receive a nice little gift from the Palai. Older coven members will receive a scrolled parchment that lists them as honorary citizens of Aimintas and a handmade, harden clay sculpture of their likeness. It may not look a lot like them, but they tried.
G ▢ Because the Palai recognize new faces, these new coven members will be dragged to other coven members who they do recognize. In an effort to help make introductions, the Palai are trying to connect new members with old members in order to foster friendships. Say hi to a new, awkwardly introduced covenmate...? H ▢ Wildcard! How will your character interact with this new and unusual world? |
no subject
How the hell would I prove it to you if I were, hm?
no subject
How should I know?
[ the easiest answer: fight him. otherwise? no clue. anyway, he was joking. mostly. ]
But offering to help... Sheesh. You know if that happens, we'll just end up fighting again. Is that what you want? [ not that he minded. lancer would happily kick archer's ass again, given the chance. ]
no subject
[ looking down at the city below, archer spots the palai that agreed to watch the egg they gave him while he went to "take care of things." might as well go and get the little thing back, then. ]
It'd be easily preventable, so I doubt I'd need to worry about it.
[ok thanks, adios, he's gonna go walk off the edge of the roof now, see u later lancer.
(pls follow him) ]
no subject
Ah? Isn't that what a question is for?
[ also, what does that mean?? lancer watched archer walk off before shaking his head. archer had given him to opportunity to leave but now he was annoyed, simply by the fact that archer had decided to ditch him. ]
Wait up, you-
[ cue him jumping down to the ground to follow him. ]
I'm not done talking, you know. [ good luck shutting him up ]
no subject
Oh, you're not? Right when it seemed like you were running out of material, too...
[ stop him. someone. someone please stop this man. ]
no subject
[ seriously, is he a comedian here??? not that lancer knows what a modern comedian is. whatever. ]
I think you've proven it's the real you, though. Don't try and confuse me like that again.
[ please. for real. actually, no- he didn't mind getting a better feel of archer but when he actively offers to help it sends off alarm bells in his head. ]
no subject
I haven't made it this far by staying predictable, Lancer. I thought you'd have realized that by now.
[ a moment later, he accepts the proffered egg, tucking the bundle between his elbow and ribs, and glances down at his empty other hand, momentarily imagining the lance he could forge if only he had the power for it. ]
My offer stands, though. If the witch is honest in her intentions, it'd be better if you at least lived up to your class.
[ because, shitposting and bullshittery aside, he is legitimately cautious about qri's mission, and what it might mean for so many worlds if she right. if she's not, oh well. but if the danger is real... well, what can the counter force do? nothing if humanity has no bearing on other worlds.
not that he's going to admit any of this shit out loud, though. or to himself, either. ]
no subject
no. forget it. he was confused again.
okay, he wasn't, but damn. ]
I should have. You've done a good job teaching me tonight.
[ but still- he almost wanted to laugh. almost. ]
Oh? Well... I'll think about it. I'm not sure if I like the idea of owing you something in return, Archer. [ and yes- whether or not archer liked it, lancer would owe him. ]
no subject
[ he knows he can't explain his reasons for what he did to lancer, nor does he plan to — but it's... well, the statement's not wrong. he doesn't know what to do with himself either, now that there's no need to be a secret. how do you fill the time.
if this were a war though, or even a month and two days ago, he'd have mocked Lancers pride right then and there. as it is, he just casts his gaze skyward for a moment, bemused. ur cute but real dumb sometimes, thinks the dumbo. ]
no subject
[ he could easily say it was just because he didn't want to owe archer in particular and not simply out of pride, but he chose not to. but, ah, who was he kidding? lancer had made deals with and served people that he didn't like or agree with more than once in the past. what made archer any different? ]
By the way, is there some reason you're keeping that egg?
[ because it had to be asked. ]
no subject
It was given to me.
[ the unsaid part: because I saved a bunch of kids during the invasion and I'm too much of a sucker to say no when people ask me to do things, usually. ]
no subject
[ and he didn't just say no??
but whatever. lancer sighed. ]
I should stop questioning the things you do. [ try as he might, though, he couldn't help it. ]
What are you planning to do now? Go back and nap? [ he doesn't care how low on mana you are, stop being lazy loser. ]
no subject
What does it matter to you, Lancer? I haven't decided yet.
[ .... listen. just because youre right doesnt mean he has to admit it... so what if he was going to nap! he's tired! LET HIM NAP. ]
no subject
[ he shrugged his shoulders in an overly casual manner. just to be an ass. ]
If you've got time to waste, though, I can think of a better way to be spending it.
no subject
I do, but didn't we already establish that you'd disappoint me?
[ he'll just be a regular bitch in return. ]
no subject
[ look, archer. he doesn't just fight.
only sometimes fights. ]
And here I thought you knew me. [ and by that, he just meant because archer had decent knowledge of his myth. ]
no subject
[ so, not only talking about lancer, but also himself, apparently. even taking care of this egg isn't something he's meant for, just something he's doing because that's what the situation he's in requirs. ]
no subject
[ he could very easily be annoyed, but more than that he was frustrated. of course, they'd only met up a little while ago, but it seemed as if archer took five steps forward and two steps back.
no matter how much lancer joked, he couldn't get used to that. ]
Listen, Archer. I may have lived a soldier but when it wasn't time for me to do the bidding of some king, I lived how I like. Got it? [ and yes, that did lead to his death. ]
So, if that means dragging around your sorry ass and making you into some worthwhile company, so be it.
no subject
even the structure of the phrase sound so similar to what he said to shirou -- yet the message could not be more different. archer's mouth twists, a sharp edged smile, lost in momentary recollection of the past. ]
Is that so, Lancer?
[ not an acquiescence, but also not a refusal. ]
no subject
[ it was a strange moment. he really shouldn't give a damn, yet here he was.
however, it also didn't mean much more than what he said. archer was a familiar face, whether or not he liked that particular face, and even though they had been enemies lancer was willing to put that aside. so long as archer got his attitude into shape. they'd had their important chat, putting setting some things square, for now at least. right now lancer didn't want to sit and mope over his existence as a soldier and servant. he'd rather sit and drink.
plus, even if lancer pretended otherwise, archer wasn't a person he could simply ignore. perhaps it seemed sincere, as if he was looking for friendship, but that wasn't the case. lancer would make the best of what he had, but there was every chance that they would be enemies again in the future. keep your enemies close and all that. ]
So, what do you say?
no subject
Archer's sneer widens, but before he can say anything: a pair of palai, one of them the one that watched the egg before, push into him from behind, voices raised in a chrous of opinions as the small hands? claws. whatever, take the egg away from him once more.
they leave him empty handed and baffled, having lost momentum on his bitterness, as he looks back to lancer from the retreating palai. ]
... I don't think it matters what I say.
no subject
Helpful, aren't they?
[ this was great. archer's befuddlement was even better than the lizard- palai's help. he did mean it, though. it made it a lot easier to deal with archer now. ]
I guess you're right. You don't have to act as though it's the worst thing in the world, though.
no subject
[ a glance to the place the palai disappeared into results in one of them popping back out to yell encouraging words to archer about not being so lonely and settling down, because these lizards have no self control. archer blinks at it, and sets himself in motion in response. he walks past lancer, heading in no particular direction, hand briefly gripping him by the bicep to make a show of having lancer follow. ]
Let's get this over with.
