There's no official OOC account for the Palai people. You're free to roleplay their actions and reactions on your own, as in depth as you want -- asking questions, hand-waved interactions, becoming best friends. The new world is your oyster!

Many efforts have been made to help rebuild Aimintas, which has become a little bit water-logged and bloodied after the confrontation a few days previously. The Palai are fully capable of rebuilding their own city on their own, but with coven members around and willing to help, hopefully the repairs that need to be done can be completed much more quickly. The marketplace is quite expansive, which is both good and bad when it comes to coven involvement. While the areas that need to be repaired are expansive, this creates the opportunity for most coven members to help rebuild in some way or another. With everyone taking responsibility for a task, the work can get done much more quickly. Aside from the repairs, many Palai are still in mourning. Because this incident happened during their mating season, many Palai are essentially shut out of reproduction or are going to potentially lay eggs a month from now without one of their previously supposed parents. The demeanor around the marketplace is glum for this reason, though the steadfast species is certainly not giving up. A ▢ Because some Palai families were killed in their entirety, the hatchery is being cleaned out. There is a big discussion in the marketplace with those responsible for taking care of eggs making sure they have the future Palai youth properly sorted. Those eggs that are orphaned have mostly been handed out to Palai family units, though there are some left over. Because the Palai trust the coven members as stronger and more capable to protect their eggs than they are right now, these eggs are being handed out to them instead of doubling up already child-bearing families. Are you willing to take an egg? B ▢ Half of the battle when it comes to rebuilding the marketplace will be the large quantities of standing water in certain stalls and enclosed spaces. Some of the Uvi's ocean masses burst or were used as a sort of liquid smoke grenade for defensive measures -- some water was absorbed into the dirt in outdoor eating areas, but a lot of it is stuck in businesses, suites and other rooms. The Palai have buckets, but they sure could use a hand getting this stuff out of here. C ▢ From slamming large sharks into the front of stone store fronts to stabbing down doors without barriers, the Uvi certainly did a number on Aimintas. Stone fixtures are certainly more difficult to repair, though the Palai have concocted a cement paste that they're using to help fill in seams. The biggest issue to deal with here is that water-logged and damaged wood needs to be hauled away or destroyed (safely!). At the same time, new wood needs to be installed to doors and stalls, and tables need to be rebuilt in order to return the majority of shops to well-working order. D ▢ Working hard isn't the only task at hand, either. There are Palai in restaurants and eateries that ARE mostly functional, hard at work preparing canteens and food sacks that need to be passed out to workers expending so much energy for their city. This also means the return of their energy drink (see TDM #2, Prompt E). This can cause hallucinations, power malfunctions and extreme giddiness and euphoria, for those who didn't experience this drink the last time it made the rounds. E ▢ Another "low-level" task focuses on keeping the younger Palai entertained and out from under the feet of those who are working hard to repair the city. The hatchery is being emptied for repairs, so one of the more untouched open-air areas of the marketplace is now a makeshift daycare. There are obviously Palai helping to attend to the children, but there are a lot of them -- some are more docile and easy to entertain, others scuttle out of the enclosure and try to help the coven with their chores. This may or may not go well...have you made a new little friend? F ▢ More detail-oriented coven members can help with the management side of things. These tasks can include restocking and carting a round food stuffs (produce, shrimp, other food goods), getting rid of damaged goods (some of these are only slightly damaged, so maybe you can get some discounted, barely working merchandise), and redecorating storefronts. This work is great for those who aren't as good at physical labor and still want to help. G ▢ Most of the Palai who were put up against the Uvi found themselves fatally wounded, though there were some lucky lizards out there. One of the other open-air areas of the marketplace is essentially a medic tent, which serves as both a makeshift hospital for coven members and Palai alike who are still nursing Uvi wounds, as well as a first aid station for any rebuilding-related injuries. Healers would definitely be appreciated! H ▢ Wildcard!

[The aftermath of the battle isn't pretty, the marketplace is a mess, the buildings are a mess... and there are Palai trying to recover even now. Just as she is. Haru pays no mind to the bandages on her healing gashes as she starts helping around. Being careful, but being helpful.

At some point earlier that day, one of the Palai adults had spoken with her about taking an egg with her. She very well couldn't refuse as it was the least she could do to help the Palai feel safe about their young. So she definitely 100% has an egg in a baby wrap (rucksack style) on her back.

She'll approach if anyone looks like they need help.]

[Later on, Haru and her egg can be found going through the food supply. She's looking for expiration dates and thinks that were damaged in the fray. It's sad to have to throw things out... but hey, at least it wasn't the majority?

Haru can also be found at the bakery that's in the marketplace, redecorating their storefront. IT's going to look as good as new when she's done!]

See, all we need to do now is sweep! It will be as good as new!

[ please help him with the baby-wrap, friend. he is helpless and isn't sure how to use it. to be honest, he didn't even know it existed, because if he did, there's a high probability that he would have been carrying morgana around in it from time to time instead of in his bag. let's be honest. ]

[Haru somehow roped Jumin into fixing the storefront just as he finished doing the bakery's inventory. He might have little experience working with storefronts in particular, but his eye for detail proves to be some help.]

Unfortunately I don't believe it's that simple, Haru. We still have many hurdles ahead of us.

For example, the fact that these racks are misaligned by five degrees to the left.

[She's sweeping some fragments of glass into a pile, turning on her heel to raise her brow at him.]

So stand back and I can align them a little better? You just tell me when to stop scooting it?

[She won't argue the pickiness...yet. She does appreciate the help after all.]

[Oh no. He walks around the display and begins to do what he does best.]

There's a layer of dust here, a pile of crumbs there, and this sign is grammatically incorrect. [Where he finds the time to even study the language is a mystery.] This is far from presentable.

Well, Jumin-kun. We haven't finished cleaning and we could always take down the sign and fix it. The reassurance is what they need right now.

[Haru won't be afraid to stand up to a fellow person business. She can't be. Resilience comes with time.]

... You're right.

[Normally he'd tell people (read: Akira) not to sass him — and he only meant to state the facts, really — but Haru makes a damn good point. He smiles proudly, but not for himself. She has the makings of a leader, this one.]

I like lists myself. Let's go through everything thoroughly, Manager Haru.

[Now Jumin never does this. It's usually either your position lower than his or no honorific at all. But the real surprise is how he hasn't gotten mad yet. It's probably, no, definitely thinks being a rank-and-file employee again sounds fun.

He takes out a pen and paper. Yes.]

I'll begin: One, align the racks parallel to the storefront. Two, sweep the floor. Three, dust all surfaces — we should remove our products before doing this... Is there anything you'd like to add, Manager?

[Yes, Jumin-kun. DWI.

She would very much like to be in charge of this situation. Though Jumin's input isn't bad or unwanted.]

Manager Haru?

[That was a new one. She didn't mind it. She would be a manager one day. She probably just didn;t think the day would be coming so soon?]

Four, we need to polish the windows. Five, you said there was a correction or two to make to the sign? Six, we need to arrange all of the products back in the window and in the cases.

Is there anything else you can think of?

[Hmm...]

Seven, I need to tell the manager she's done a good job. I like her judgement and initiative. Eight, depending on our results, perhaps I should treat her to lunch today. Hard work should be rewarded.

[mapsio]

You're being very kind.

[Maybe it's a little flustering.]

I suppose number nine should be that I accept the offer to go to lunch with you. But we have to finish the job first.

Kind?

[Well, yes. He's Jumin Han. Of course he's kind! He just doesn't think this is kindness. Only giving what is due.]

Ah, that would be number ten. We've dallied for far too long, but I wouldn't worry.

[He begins walking around the shop, passing by each item as he addresses it.]

Racks, go to your places. Brush and dust pan, sweep the crumbs and broken glass. The brooms will do the same. You pieces of cloth are to polish the windows.

[One by one, at the sound of his stern voice, the objects come to life to do as they're told. Even Haru's broom flies out of her hands to start sweeping.]

We'll have this shop spotless before noon and I don't want any complaints.

[HAru is going to put barriers around the sweets that they didn't have the time to move. The bigger displays, of course. That could protect them for the time being.

She is actually very impressed by Jumin's ability, watching as each item comes to life as does as it is told. She wishes things at home could do that too.]

The bigger items are protected from dust now.

[Honestly, Jumin wishes he could do this at home, too. He's far too busy to clean, and you can't always trust others to do it properly.]

Ah, good call, Haru. As I'm sure you're aware, I can't quite control everything for long. The mops tend to rebel quicker than the rest.

[ Hibiki's here to help out at the bakery as well, and seeing Haru around isn't too much of a surprise. The same goes with the egg on her back, the Palai would have made a grave mistake if they hadn't given her one, honestly. ]

I'm certain it will. [ He's going to sweep the floor diligently for a while, pondering about something. ] Haru-san, do you think that five layers of blankets are enough for an egg? Perhaps I should go back and add another one.

[ Please help him, he's inexperienced... ]

[She was glad to see Hibiki here, honestly. There was a lot to do here before the Palai could reopen this humble store front.]

Hmm?

[She looks back to Hibiki, thinking...]

I would say if it isn't on your person for body warmth then five would be enough.

[SHE IS VERY INEXPERIENCED TOO...]

Maybe I should've taken it with me...but I was worried that I might drop it or damage it during the cleaning.

[ It's a reasonable concern, probably. He's not sure of anything anymore. ]

What made them think I'm the right person to take care of an egg...

That is a very legitimate concern. I feared that my egg would get in the way too. I could teach you how to tie this wrap?

[SHE'S GOT YOUR BACK, HIBIKI.]

Could you really? I'd be grateful. I'm not even sure how long will it take until the eggs hatch, but it might take a while, so it would be a great help.

[ Honestly, he has a long list of questions to ask the Palai about the eggs. ]

Aren't you worried, Haru-san? About what happens once they hatch.

[mapsio]

Perhaps I am a little but concerned. But it isn't anything to be too worried about, right? We will just have to raise them and care for them as if they were our own.

[Haru is definitely only 17, but she's Got This.]

But after we finish here, I can teach you.

[secrowtary]

[ Hibiki opens his mouth to cut in and tell her that there are so many different things they should be worried about, the number of living Elto being one of them, but he just shakes his head and smiles.

Pointing that out wouldn't do any good. Not to mention that he'd hate to inflict stress on Haru. ]

You're so mature, Haru-san...

[ It slips out before Hibiki even realizes it. He's not sure what's the protocol, but what if she thinks it's rude to say such a thing?! ]

I...I didn't mean anything bad by that!

I know you didn't, don't fret.

[Haru is used to being thought of as "mature". Especially for her age and position. She knows that she had to grow up a lot faster than a lot of other people her age.

So no harm done.]

Hibiki-kun, could you hold this dust pan for me?

[secrowtary]

[ She has no idea how relieved he is. The memory of one of his boss' guests glaring at him when he pointed out that she might be too mature to entertain a man like his superior is still fresh, even though this situation is so much different.

Let's be real, Hibiki definitely not the social butterfly type. ]

[ He'll take it from Haru, smiling sheepishly. ]

I could take care of sweeping the floor and maybe in the meantime, you could decorate the display window?

[ He just doesn't want to expose the egg to danger!! Yes, he's totally overthinking stuff ever since the Palai asked him to take care of one of the eggs. ]

Oh? Are you sure? I don't mind finishing the sweeping!

[She goes to the display window though. Looking at all of the things that had been misplaced and knocked down. They would need to fix those asap.]

Do you think a new display is in order? The old one was kind of lacking.
