After an appropriate amount of time for mourning, the Palai have shifted into a more positive mood -- they're a very resilient species, though there is a bit of a muted tone to their celebration. The whole event is a little hodge-podge, mostly because they aren't used to having to celebrate with the coven members added to the guest list. The Palai have gathered together all of their people and have invited the coven members to a small, intimate gathering -- the purpose of the event is to thank them for their service in fighting the Uvi, and the success of freezing the Uvi in their home. While no one knows how long the Uvi will stay gone, any amount of time without the Uvi being a concern is fine by them. The event takes place in the very center of the marketplace, with the Palai interacting on the fringes of the party throughout the rest of the large building. The coven members have time to spend by themselves, but there's room for moving around on their own and also spending time with the Palai if they so choose. A ▢ One of the more noticeable editions to the food the Palai have provided is a large pile of sweet, sugar dusted pastries. You may notice that something about them seems...odd, to say the least. It looks as if the pastries are vibrating slightly, but they smell divine. If you're so inclined to ask what the deal is, these pastries are magically infused by Eltos, which somehow gives them a sweeter flavor and enhances the sensation of tastebuds. The Palai sometimes eat these before meals in order to better the flavor of their entire spread -- though adding this energized magic to an already magical being means magic powers may be a little off kilter. Don't be surprised if suddenly your abilities go a little crazy. B ▢ The Palai aren't participating the party for two big reasons. One, the purpose is to celebrate the victory of coven members. The other reason, however, is one that may be more interesting to outsiders. While previously the Palai were peaceful people, happy to exist submitting to the Uvi, the coven's show of strength and valor has inspired them to be more aggressive in their approaches. Grown Palai can be seen working on makeshift weapons, but the idea of smaller tools like slingshots have already been constructed and almost perfected. The Palai youth have discovered these tools and are playing with them gleefully, though occasionally hitting each other -- and potentially you -- with energized, paralyzing rocks fueled with Elto energy. Watch out or you might get zapped! C ▢ Other Palai youth aren't as fortunate to be so distracted and happy. While fewer Palai died during this attack, the casualty number wasn't zero. Most Palai children still have at least one family member to care for them, but they're still a little disconnected from their people by means of grief. Some are milling about with the coven members, trying to eat or pester them for attention. If you're good with kids this may be more your speed, but those bad with children can find this irritating. Some Palai youth are more muted, however, content to just sit and listen to stories or eavesdrop on conversations. D ▢ For some people, rain isn't that big an issue -- but it certainly puts a damper (get it?) on a party. The Palai seem a bit confused by the sudden shower that comes in heavy as the evening dies down. The Palai have never experienced rain before, using irrigation systems and existing ground water as their means of hydration (both for themselves and for plants). Because the rain is coming from the ocean, the drops are large and salty, and the marketplace quickly begins to flood. The Palai move the party indoors for the most part, but that doesn't mean you or the food aren't already soaked. It's much warming underneath the roofs in the marketplace, but that doesn't provide much relief since the ocean rain is warm and humid. E ▢ Wildcard! How will your character handle this violent and volatile situation.

[Waver still feels some guilt over even revealing Rider's class. If there's another master who shows up, it could be a problem. Hell, it's probably one now, even if Hakuno's gone through and won the damn Grail War. What if one shows up here!?

Nope. That's just silly, there's not enough leylines. Waver's finally made it to the out of the way spot, and really what he's found is a Palai sized bean bag chair. He settles down into it, content.]

Not at all at first. It's gotten better.

I know how that goes. The Servant I had back in the War was a real piece of work, and the one I have now was an enemy I beat twice back in the Moon Cell.

[If a Grail shows up in this world, Hakuno is barricading herself in a safe-house and staying far, far away.]

[Jay opens his mouth, probably to argue--you can definitely choose to do something else unless you have someone, say, threatening the people you love if you don't do what you're supposed to, and also living for someone else is terrible! A terrible idea that leads to you bleeding out on a battlefield until some kindly otters come and pick you up and nurse you back to health! but also, he doesn't actually want to be having this conversation either. He is pretty sure, actually, that he has already revealed more of himself than he wanted to.

Also there is a small child here who is probably going to go home with some interesting philosophical questions.]

[He pinches the bridge of his nose. You're still wrong, though!!!]

In the absence of any direction from Qri, we should try and learn more about her intentions, and the world we're in right now.

[Waver's still got all his command seals. Can...can he even decline? How would it even work? These are the important concerns, really.]

...How'd you get stuck with him then, if that wasn't the one you summoned?

[Geir will almost certainly think about this conversation and try to nail Jay on the points he's revealed later, so Jay's suspicion that he's revealed too much is correct. a dragon never forgets. for now, though, he relaxes visibly with the relief of pressure in Jay's change of topic, grateful that he picked up the hint.

it's probably noteworthy that even as Geir tensed up, Jay didn't note any physical threat about it. wherever this huge creature was directing his feelings, it wasn't outwards into violence against his surroundings. fortunate, given the massive teeth and claws.]

Did you hear anything else about the energy we're supposed to be getting her? That letter that Vern read me said something about "tangible and intangible resources," but it didn't give any examples.

About halfway through the War, the Holy Grail was usurped and corrupted by a third party. At that point, my contract with Berserker was severed, and I fell to the Far Side of the Moon, where Gilgamesh was sleeping. The Moon Cell had ruled that he was too overpowered to be put into circulation as a normal Servant, but... well, I got lucky.

Before my 'right to exist' was revoked because I lost Command Seals, I managed to interest him enough for him to extend his hand to me. And he stuck with me after we resolved the Grail issue, and we went on to win together.

[It's a near thing, overwhelmed as she is by small Palai children. But she glances up at one point, hoping desperately to see something else she can direct the children towards, maybe. And of course that's when she spots someone much larger. And vaguely familiar.]

Oh. You came back too.

[For a moment, at least, the Palai children are forgotten.]

[Waver listens quietly. No one had tried to do that in the Grail War so far, even Caster was kind of within bounds.

The idea of a servant being ruled out was interesting. Then again, the idea that it was Gilgamesh made sense, him being the first hero and al.....

That's....really screwed up, that your ability to exist was revoked. I know that's an understatement.

The Moon Cell took in 999 people and culled them down to 128 before Command Seals were even given out. There's a reason my wish was to revoke it's ability to interact with humanity.

[She blinks, tilting her head up to look at him.]

Gilgamesh? Uh... blond hair, slitted red eyes, a really loud laugh, a lot of gold... what else...

... What if we all had barriers when we went in?

...You make the one I'm in look so tame.

[Waver stops. There's zero color in his face, and he mutters a few choice words before saying anything else.]

I've met him.

[alphonse]

Probably. But that's one job I'm definitely not volunteering for.

[He sighs dramatically, like he's trying to wash his hands of the whole unfortunate affair with a single gesture. When he speaks again, it's a touch more sincere.]

Have you been holding up okay?

[Between the fighting and... everything.]

[teratias]

[It's strange. Waver's not used to anyone asking after his well being. Now here it's...weirdly common. Nothing he's used to though.]

Yeah, fine. I mean, I barely even saw anything. Er. You?

Why aren't you with them, Kishinami?

Comparatively tame doesn't mean 'not terrible,' remember?

[Hakuno pauses.

After a moment, she squirms an arm out of her burrito blanket and gently pats his hand, true compassion in her face.]

I'm so sorry. He's a huge brute.

[alphonse]

That's it? Geez, that's not enough time to adjust to your own world, much less all this.

[How unfair.]

Yeah, but. Still, it's sort of an eclipse.

[Waver offers a finger, mostly because that's a bit easier to grab onto. He breathes out, very long and slow.]

Yeah. He's Archer and...ugh.

I'm okay.

[The battle could have gone better, but it helps that the Palai are counting it as a victory.]

Just trying to figure out what we do next.

Mmm. It's almost out of turn for us to do anything. We don't have to deal with the long term consequences.

[Connecting to her surroundings was a tricky business especially when it isn't the one she was born and raised in. She can feel a multitude of tugs. Most were emotions and traces of life along with thoughts and feelings attempting to find its way into her. Whatever was happening, this world was trying its best to inform her about it, but there was an issue. The ancient language of this world was completely different to her own -- she couldn't understand it.

And due to not understanding, Nike gets more and more interested in wanting to solve the code by trying to create a connection and trust in way of proving her understanding of its people and way of life. Her song was conveying those emotions in way of making promises in wanting to help. Usually, her prayers have always been the bridge in granting those wishes by giving her power in exchange for giving her entire being to her world.

Unfortunately, it was the very reason she was falling under her own spell -- she was attempting to do the same in an alien planet. Allowing it to do what it wishes with her, allowing it to use her powers, while attempting to remain conscious enough to keep it from overwhelming her as well.

All she can recognize from her current situation was: to continue to sing. She wasn't even certain if it was helping as she can't feel much of anything. The new presence doesn't even catch her attention. Her body was shaking from being under the rain for so long and using more power than she should, her voice was beginning to grow hoarse, and her legs feel like they were going to give out, but it was clear she had no intention to give in to her own exhaustion. Not yet.]

[If she found the other woman to be rude or not, Nike couldn't really notice while feeling the way she did at the moment. It was a little embarrassing to ask for help, but she didn't seem to mind.

Taking a seat, as per her instructions, she'll look towards her with a curious gaze, trying her best to rise her voice.]

Do you need me to do anything?

[After all, she wasn't absolutely certain about the magic everyone was given nor the way it was activated, so she assumes everyone had a weird condition in order to use. Please tell her she doesn't need to be kissed?]

[Geir flutters and refolds his wings, carefully holding the small model Geir that Alphonse made him closer against himself.]

It's a long story, but I don't mind being here instead of there. It's just... complicated.

It really would have been, yeah. Pity this is the last time it'll ever be this specific.
