[WORLD TWO | JAILBREAK]

[ Fifteen days ago, twelve members of the coven were selected to be captured and put under major scrutiny by the Shehui government. Today, they become freed.

Well, that's a pretty dramatic tag line for it all, but it's a dramatic moment isn't it? The coven members who have been taken have been subjected to some pretty hideous conditions, and their captivity and abuse has been reported to their fellow members via telepathy. With this information, and even just the knowledge that coven members have been taken at all, a plan of attack has been orchestrated.

Whether or not you're actively involved in this plan, the effects will likely be noticed immediately -- but it's up to fellow coven members to decide just how wide spread their pandemonium is. SImply put, there will be distracting forces and also those who go in for attack. Helpers and fighters. It's up to you what hand you have in helping your fellow man! ]

( ooc: Since there are a lot of different roles that can't be subsidized to their own prompts, the main given prompts in the log will be for pre- and during the jailbreak. You can have multiple prompts that take place in both situations in the event you have a multi-tiered role.

pre-jailbreak: Anything not directly involved with the government porthole location OR something leading up to the onslaught at the porthole.

during the jailbreak: Directly at the porthole and/or inside of the government hall, so labeled Lower Admin Hall C with a large connecting and locked door in a room that leads to Lower Admin Hall D. )

Let it be known that the monitors won't go down without a fight. No upper level government employees show their face, but when attacked monitors will indeed go in for the kill. However, they are initially taken by surprised. They aren't aware that their technology can be hacked, or that they have a large force that's about to come in against them.

If a monitor is felled, it's possible to take their ID card and use it to break prisoners free. They will all have clearance to access holding rooms, as well as testing centers and interrogation rooms. Use these keys to find coven members -- but characters will also find more monitors as they go through the hall.

Because this is a lower level administration area, searching the place won't find much in the way of information. This is something of the equivalent of a government prison. Weapons, medicine, files on ALL coven members (which can be taken), and similar items can be found. What's certainly more interesting is found in Lower Admin Hall D.

---

hacking results: Capable hackers like 9S will be able to hack into the entrance of the government building eventually, which allows for an easier flow of movement in and out. This won't be the only reward reaped from the hacking: there are tons of locked archives that are concealed within the Shehui mainframe. Most are boring, governmental gobbledygooks, aptly named things like watersystem//upperdeck and the like. Three offer some intriguing information, titled contrabandlist//highlevel, adminhalld//accessrequirementoverride and notefile//banned//writtenrecord.

The first two archives are much easier to crack open and give information as follows (with irrelevant information omitted):

contrabandlist//highlevel
  • Four (4) small bone fragments, electrical in nature. Dangerous ##04. Contraband Room 5.
  • One (1) inanimate golden box. [MODIFICATION: When collected, box was magic in nature. Expended Three (3) smooth black stones predetermined to be filled with void magic in opening said golden box for investigation. Not currently deemed dangerous. Contraband Room 1.
  • > RETRIEVAL: One (1) body from inanimate golden box. Still living, suspended animation. Held in Contraband Room 4. DO NOT INCLUDE OTHER CONTRABAND. CONTRABAND ROOM 4 NOW OFF LIMITS FOR NEW MATERIAL.
  • > DETAIL: Clothed. Height: [measurement translation to 6' 3"]. Weight: Indeterminate. Dangerous ##77. Antima Formula RE5 inserted in constant IV. No obvious name, planetary association.

    adminhalld//accessrequirementoverride
  • This archive contains a program that can be transferred from ID card to ID card. Anyone who has this .exe in their ID card can give it to someone else. This will grant access to all Lower Admin Hall D rooms, including contraband rooms -- there are six in total. These rooms can also be looted! All magical items within these rooms won't be immediately obvious in how they are magical, but there are plenty of items there that may be looted.

    notefile//banned//writtenrecord
  • ????

new objective: jailbreak qri Utilizing this new information, coven members have the opportunity to find Qri and her golden box. While the box does seem somewhat non threatening and useless, unbeknownst to coven members it does contain void properties that allow Qri to use it as a space pocket for all the coven's shit. If you left it in the box, then you're shit out of luck if the box doesn't come to. Qri is surprisingly light, but still unconscious. Because of her size and condition, it will likely take more than one person to move her...but her body may potentially be a good meeting point for coven members. The room is isolated, and she's somewhat awe-inspiring being a large, albino-alien lady.

    ---

post-jailbreak There's certainly a hullabaloo going on in the government building as the coven members try to fight to take their monitors. One thing is for certain -- there's no going back, now.

After a while, all coven member IDs go black -- including those belonging to uninvolved parties. For some, this is only temporary. Shehui is watching, and they know who they can potentially make loyal. However, anyone involved in the break-in, as well as the Chosen 12, their IDs will remain black. All credits have been taken and their capability to unlock any door will be removed.

Suddenly the fuzzy black cards begin to emit a high-pitched noise. All monitors still underground and alive will immediately freeze at the noise. The black ID cards will begin to flash a very blinding, red message:

    TRUCE
    ALL STAND DOWN
PEACEFUL EVICTION INITIATED: [TRANSLATED DATE: 20TH]
NO MORE HARM WILL COME TO YOU HERE

No matter where they are, monitors all standing completely still, hands up in surrender. Take a few more shots at them if you dare -- they won't defend themselves. Though your credits may be frozen and your identification marked, this is a war you've won. This war anyway. This war, here. ]

[ That was some timing taking him away just as they were starting to resolve things. This conversation can't happen without him. But even with the delays and more time to think on it she hasn't changed her mind. She welcomes him back to the apartment they share and lets him stretch out on the couch. It seems like he needs it. ]

So you know I didn't have anything to do with you getting arrested right?

[Orga had a few choice and colorful words for the timing of it all (as well as what had happened in general), but most had already been said, and now that he was free again he was wanting to escape the emotional quagmire of it. He's very appreciative, then, when he's met with no resistance when he finally shows back in his own apartment. He ends up reclining on the couch, an ice pack wrapped in a washcloth held to his brow above his eye, still fighting at the swelling there.

The rest of him doesn't look like it's fared much better. What remains of a busted lip, a handful of other bruises and cuts. He seems to be treating his right arm gingerly, favoring his left.

He laughs at her question, peering at her through one eye.]

Yeah. But that would've been some twist, though. [Despite the aftermath of rough treatment, he still smiles, seemingly unfazed by it. Truth be told, he's had worse, but it doesn't mean he's happy with all of this.]

You and Mika didn't kill one another in my absence, so something must've gone right.

We didn't. That's true. It helps when there's a common goal. If we keep focusing on that we could make this work.

[ It doesn't feel as much like betrayal as she thought. This should be fine as a temporary measure. At least she hopes it's the right thing to do. There's more freedom to choose here than she's ever really had before. ]

[Orga considers this a moment before a long, slow smile creeps across his face.]

Ah. Admit it. You missed me.

[He swipes a hand across his face, looking absolutely impish.] Or at least having me around, right? I keep things interesting.

    [A wink.]

    [personal profile] sharpestsword 2018-02-22 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
    Missed you?

[ She hasn't forgotten what it was like before she realized who he was. If there's a chance they could still have that she has to admit she really would want to. Maybe being put in a room with him is a good thing. ]

I would have preferred they didn't take you away right as I was getting to know you.

[He grins at her, gaze glinting from one narrowed eye as his other remains closed from his exaggerated wink.

He's joking, for the most part. Despite seeming to be roughly the same age, she's even more uptight than some of the sterner guys on his own crew. It just makes them more fun to mess with.]

    Get to know me, huh?

[He carefully stretches his arms across the back of the sofa, the action a little more hesitant than normal as he's seeming to grapple with some pain or soreness.]

Well, I'm here now. If you've got any burning questions, shoot.

I understand not fighting here and I'm for that but why would you want to be nice to me?

[ It would be suspicious as heck but he really seems genuine about it. She likes that. They had anticipated one or more members of Tekkadan showing up but this isn't exactly what she was expecting. ]

[He waves his hands from where they are hanging down from the back of the sofa, all in a disarming gesture.] What, because we fought against one another one time? If I had standards as strict as that, I'd be down most of the allies I have back home.

[He tilts his head in one direction, setting her in a slightly more serious gaze.]

You've gotta admit, things change pretty quickly. The politics shift just a bit, and yesterday's enemy is suddenly your fast ally tomorrow. I wouldn't hold you following orders against you.

    [He's quiet a moment, considering.]

Now, Mika. He's a bit different. But he's out there fighting, where I'm just back on the bridge, staring at dots on a radar screen. So I don't think he'd have the same opinion.

This fighting took away the man that was the closest thing I had to family. And you've lost people on your side too.

[ She regrets bringing it up when the feelings come rushing back. Turning away she rubs her forehead. Not much time has passed and it's still painful. Everything that's happened since then hasn't really helped so much as forced her to push her feelings down and carry on. ]

    Oh?

[You know you're in quite a position when Orga's first internal question to that is, "which one?" But still, he counters.]

And before I'd gotten sucked into all of this, McGillis killed one of my kids on Earth. Sometimes the wires get crossed. Sometimes people just remove the obstacles that're in front of them without thinking about the consequences. Hell, I'd love to be in a position where I could hold a grudge, but the facts are, I can't.

[A beat, then he adds in a dangerous undertone:] Not yet.

[Once Tekkadan had power that was undisputed, in a position that wasn't so precarious, they would be able to be so black-and-white. As it is now, he has to shake the hand of a man who hadn't held his fire before killing someone under Tekkadan's banner. The thought of it still had him tasting bile.]

Who was it? This man so close to you.
    sharpestsword: (concentrate)

    [personal profile] sharpestsword 2018-02-23 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Her eyes narrow at the mention of McGillis. It doesn't surprise her at all that he's hurt more people that trusted him. The only thing she ended up being comfortable agreeing to regarding him was that she wouldn't go out of her way to attack him. The difference in talking to Orga hasn't escaped her. The tension is there but significantly less, as if letting her guard down wouldn't result in an untimely backstabbing. She folds her hands in her lap. ]

No one. Just some mercenary that took me in off the street. He taught me everything and I've always been grateful.

    [personal profile] counteracts 2018-02-25 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
[He knows what McGillis' defense would be. Communication had gotten muddied in that silent war on Earth. The Tekkadan kids hadn't known better, only following orders that they thought were his. In the end, it had been Orga's own failing, in the way that such a thing would always fall upon the shoulders of the person in charge. It'd been hard to look McGillis in the eye after that, but it'd been harder to look in the face of each and every kid that had lived through hell for weeks before coming to realize that there hadn't even been a point to it.

At least when he'd had kids die in their final push towards Edmonton, it'd meant something.

It's true: this conversation is very casual. But there's a sharpness in Orga's gaze as she speaks that shows that he's still very cognizant of what's going on between them, the uneasiness of a half-baked stalemate. He's being cautious too, even if he's wary of more useless fighting.]

    "Just some mercenary," huh.

[He doesn't sound very convinced. From what he knew of the situation on Earth, that could be a handful of people. Some more likely than others.]

You're with Gjallarhorn now, though. Why's that? Why weren't you with this mercenary?
    sharpestsword: (determined)

    [personal profile] sharpestsword 2018-02-27 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
I joined Gjallarhorn as soon as I was old enough.

[ Even if it wasn't an accusation it sounds that way to her. More blaming herself than anything he might have intended. Why wasn't she with him? Even if it wouldn't have helped and it was disrespectful to think otherwise. She hates the feeling of being unable to do anything. If she's no good to anyone she can't expect to last long. ]

[There's a moment of slightly stressed silence.]

    Lucky you.

[Even lowly ranks in Gjallarhorn were positions of power, influence, status. Down on the streets in Chryse, it would have been a pipe dream; they might as well have dreamed of being adopted by wealthy philanthropists from Earth. They both had an equal chance of happening: 0. Gjallarhorn was an organization built upon preserving the status quo of Earth's dominion over the rest of the outer territories. From what he'd heard, people from Mars faced heavy scrutiny, while people from Earth were placed out there as punishment. So orphans like those of Tekkadan would've had a snowball's chance in hell considering that as an option...

So they had joined the CGS, just happy they wouldn't die of hunger or sickness.

    He concludes:]
    Most don't get that chance.

That's true. I could have ended up much worse off if he hadn't found me before somebody else did.

[ It's something on her mind a lot of the time. She knows she'll spend the rest of her life repaying this debt. She doesn't have a lot of options. She has to pretend not to feel for others like herself who weren't so lucky. That was easier back home when she wasn't forced to come face to face with them. ]
