[WORLD ONE | OCTOBER INTRO LOG]
Who: The new coven members and old blood
Where: In and around the hub island
When: Day 92
Open/Closed: Open to All
All characters are told briefly what their powers are by Genette -- no extemporaneous details. For instance, if your character has the ability to detect lies, they'll be told as such -- no warning about limitations, repercussions or the like. They'll also be given a variant of this letter so they aren't totally ignorant of the situation -- though of course adapt this letter to the current setting and surroundings of the game.
Where: In and around the hub island
When: Day 92
Open/Closed: Open to All
This setting may be familiar to you -- maybe you caught a glimpse of it when you first visited. Maybe this is your first time experiencing this weird world and the panic is setting in. If you're totally lost, a tall human woman with a long scroll of paper will stop by to give you the run down. She'll also give you a letter, which may give you more questions than answers since the information is a wee out of date. (Maybe someone else can fill in some gaps for you). What is at first painfully obvious is that you're ill-equipped. Any magic or powers you had previously are suddenly replaced with an empty hole in your being. That's not all that's gone, but perhaps that's what's most pressing. Another thing you may notice is that there are others just like you, wandering around and just as confused. If you feel so inclined, you may want to ask around and see if anyone else knows what's up.
B ▢ Let's say that instead of milling about and doing nothing entirely productive, your character has decided to try and venture off to find a way off this huge floating rock. That's nice -- but be warned that the forest is filled with interesting things. For instance, they've happened to find a hollowed out tree that happens to be where a hoard of land crabs are living. They move fast -- run quick! C ▢ Other characters may want to establish shelter before they do anything else -- and that's their right! The problem is that if your character wants to be well-supplied, they're going to have to do things for themselves. There's something of an assembly line set up, but not a lot has been done in way of making things workable. Genette wanted all new coven members to have a little food parcel to take to their hut, but time constraints, you know? If you want any food for now -- or for later -- you may want to cook some of this (poisonous) eel, salt some boar jerky or cut into one of these rabbits. You've also got some berries to eat in the meantime, if you want something simple! |
By the time afternoon sets in, everyone should be a little more adjusted -- or, they should at least be a little more aware of the situation. From there, things still need to be done and exploring is always an option!
E ▢ If you mill about too long, you'll be put to work. Run into Genette and you'll be sent to pick western part of the island to look for strawberries, wheat and deer (good luck hunting if your character doesn't have the capabilities, but maybe someone else can help?). Run into Genette and she'll offer your character an ax to chop wood with (is this a wise idea? probably not), or a request to go fishing in either a stream or the ocean attached to the island on the eastern side. Or your character can do both if they so choose...? F ▢ With all of these new people milling about, telepathy is on the fritz again. At least, it certainly is for those who are new! Your character may not realize their broadcasting frustrations to the network, or maybe a stupid secret. Their mental filter is certainly broken, but that's at least a great conversation starter.

[she's been here for five minutes and she's met a general and is, is he asking her to suplex him or something?? to throw him across the woods????]
I don't really know what I'm doing and I don't want you to get hurt...
no subject
as hilarious as that mental image STILL ISThis is more or less an excuse to continue working on his own new power. Someone sure did linger in the woods for hours before he found Genette, practicing newfound otherkinism before this was all even explained to him. And now that it's been explained to him...
McGillis continues to smile at Yuna, lifting a hand in a reassuring gesture when she expresses uncertainty. ]
It would be to my benefit as well. You see, I need to practice my shapeshifting to master it. I can attempt to assume the form of something that would otherwise be difficult for you to lift.
[ Spoken as if that's perfectly natural and understandable. ]
If you agree, that is. A test of sorts for the both of us.
no subject
...Okay! Only if you're sure, though, and I promise I'll be careful!
[SHE DOESN'T WANT TO HURT ANYONE; FEAR]
no subject
Not that his cold dead heart can fully register that. Still, he seems pleased that she's agreed to the exercise. ]
Thank you for being cautious. Do take care not to cause injury to yourself, and don't be alarmed by the sudden change in my appearance.
[ Now, as to what he should try to turn into... this'll be his first object! He's excited try on something new for size, but it has to be simple, so as not to overtask himself in the beginning. While he'd like to do something more fun than, let's say, a rock --
It's gonna be a rock. Ah well.
The details of his body suddenly begin to disperse into light, stretching out and reforming, until he settles on the shape of a large boulder. About three quarters of her size and definitely heavy looking. Again, it's a little boring, so he's added a personal touch to the finished piece. If she looks, she'll notice a small placard on pinned to the front of his rock that has the words For: Yuna Yuki written on them, rather neatly.
Alright, let's see that super strength. ]
no subject
Ooh, good job! [she...really hopes this rock has ears and can hear her and she's not just standing here talking to a rock that looks like it's been left as a present for her??] Okay, um, here I go!
[She spends a moment just sort of...side-stepping this way and that beside and around the rock. This is a person? What is the most polite way to do this... Lift with the legs, she knows that much, and she chirps, ever cheerful,] Here I go! [before crouching and lifting the McGillis-rock's edge up with both hands. It needs much less effort than she puts into it so she almost flips him over, but only almost—getting a grip and the balance right is tough, but after a moment of uncertain angling, she lifts it (him??? she's dying) over her head.]
Oooohhh... [Mostly just to prove to herself this is really happening, she paces back and forth for just a quick moment, but the inherent awkwardness of "this is a human person" wins out and she ever-so-gently sets the rock back down on the ground. He may as well be made of foam for all the ease she moves with...]
Um. Haha, wow! Got it!
no subject
A and B prove weirdly true. C provides the best test of his new skills.
Although it's a stationary and simple thing, this boulder is so far from the realm of the living that it's surprisingly disconcerting to keep to it, more-so than wolf or bird. When she lifts, and nearly drops, she provides an essential test of the control he can keep over his magic. It's a strain to retain the form, which is good, as it means he's exercising the correct muscles for improvement and development of this new power.
It's something else to see her skill in action too -- a little girl carrying around a giant boulder as if it was nothing. Her assistance could prove quite useful. The pacing around provides more of a test, the inherent strangeness of experiencing movement in her arms as a rock-person, but she soon sets him down.
Just in time. Another flash of light and he's back to himself, standing as he did before with perfect posture and polite interest. His smile, however, has shaped itself into the hint of a grin, one hand bracketing his hip when he addresses Yuna.
He has to admit, it's exciting, this world. Power in all these new and different forms. ]
Well done. It's safe to say we both passed with flying colors. Yours is an incredible skill -- if you wouldn't find it too bothersome, there may come a time in the future when I request your protection.

That was great! The little note was such a nice touch, you've really got this figured out! [She bounces in place a little, all restless energy and excitement. Can she high-five him? She probably shouldn't but she's thinking about it.] Bothersome? No way! That's just what a hero does!
[Beaming, she clenches her hand into a determined fist and holds it to her chest.]
If you need anything, just say the word and I'll be right there!
no subject
okay she might be melting his cold dead heart
just a tiny wee amount
Her energy and the fantastic environment both. It's like something out of a storybook. McGillis lets out a soft little laugh, the compliment and her bouncing combining to incite it. And when she confirms that she would be willing to answer his call, should the need ever arise...
Well, he does soften, more-so with a mysterious quality. The light in his eyes turning somber, he brings a hand to his chin and tucks palm under elbow, considering something from before: ]
The Hero Club, was it? A role you're prepared to step into, from the sound of it. Similarly, I'm willing to lend my direct assistance if you ever find yourself in need of it. I believe our partnership has potential.
[ Those silky and refined mannerisms are back. ]
Did your world also have magic?
no subject
ten minutes in and she's winning the friendship game]That's right, the Hero Club! I can't just shirk my duties because I'm away from school. [She claps her hands together and smiles wide.] We'll definitely make a great team, General Fareed!
[She's genuinely so delighted... Friend count +1!!! She's off to such a good start here!!!]
Ah... No, nothing like this.
[It isn't...entirely a lie. When the concept of other people's universes settles easier on her, she may not hold the secret of the Hero Club so close to her chest, but for now, it invites too many questions she shouldn't answer.]
It's sort of a lot to take in, hehe.
no subject
unfortunately he's still gonna be a giant weirdo and consider this an alliance but probably... won't be terribly insistent about correcting her if it comes upThat she calls him "General Fareed" is a gesture he appreciates, and slightly nostalgic. It shows the slightest amount on his face. Perhaps it's too early to be homesick and use such a heavy word for it, but the conditions for creating a home he would actually want to live in were finally coming to fruition, right before he was spirited away to this place.
For all its bells and whistles, that does sting. He's not so foolish to believe he won't need help if he wants to make it back home and resume his destiny. Being able to form a quick rapport with another person is not something to snuff at.
He shifts his hands once more, now to settle held behind his back, and regards Yuna with gentle encouragement. ]
Ah, neither did mine. It is a little overwhelming, on top of being given little in the way of concrete answers... I hope that we're able to learn more about our overarching mission in due time.
no subject
Mhm. I think I just want to find out what the best ways to help out are! [She claps her hands together, bright as can be.] Things are probably always going to be kind of confusing, since this is so different from their ordinary lives, but we can still find ways to fix things and be helpful.
[Whether or not she understands what's going on—she's so far from home in an unfamiliar world with strange magic in and all around her, but she knows that there's a dying girl in need of her help. That's enough for her.]
no subject
[ Here's what he already likes about Yuna: she's been here for approximately ten minutes and she's already committing herself to statements like those. Young she may be, and bright-eyed with that youth, but her will is impressively strong for her age.
There's just a small hint of arrogance in his even-toned reply. Pride in himself as well as on behalf of her. ]
For myself, although I'll make do, I'd like to return home as soon as I can. I confess that the timing is inconvenient.
