Who: The new coven members and old blood

All characters are told briefly what their powers are by Genette -- no extemporaneous details. For instance, if your character has the ability to detect lies, they'll be told as such -- no warning about limitations, repercussions or the like. They'll also be given a variant of this letter so they aren't totally ignorant of the situation -- though of course adapt this letter to the current setting and surroundings of the game.

This setting may be familiar to you -- maybe you caught a glimpse of it when you first visited. Maybe this is your first time experiencing this weird world and the panic is setting in. If you're totally lost, a tall human woman with a long scroll of paper will stop by to give you the run down. She'll also give you a letter, which may give you more questions than answers since the information is a wee out of date. (Maybe someone else can fill in some gaps for you). What is at first painfully obvious is that you're ill-equipped. Any magic or powers you had previously are suddenly replaced with an empty hole in your being. That's not all that's gone, but perhaps that's what's most pressing. Another thing you may notice is that there are others just like you, wandering around and just as confused. If you feel so inclined, you may want to ask around and see if anyone else knows what's up. A ▢ If one of your characters isn't looking to introduce themselves to others, someone's willing to do it for them. Genette is trying to make sure all newbies are accounted for and have a buddy, so she's grabbing them when she finds them and tossing them at the first coven member she sees. "Hi, so-and-so, this is so-and-so! They're new, so show them the ropes -- be friends, okay?" You get the gist. Your character may be paired up with another newbie, a seasoned character or both! Five times, even! Timelines in RPing are weird! B ▢ Let's say that instead of milling about and doing nothing entirely productive, your character has decided to try and venture off to find a way off this huge floating rock. That's nice -- but be warned that the forest is filled with interesting things. For instance, they've happened to find a hollowed out tree that happens to be where a hoard of land crabs are living. They move fast -- run quick! C ▢ Other characters may want to establish shelter before they do anything else -- and that's their right! The problem is that if your character wants to be well-supplied, they're going to have to do things for themselves. There's something of an assembly line set up, but not a lot has been done in way of making things workable. Genette wanted all new coven members to have a little food parcel to take to their hut, but time constraints, you know? If you want any food for now -- or for later -- you may want to cook some of this (poisonous) eel, salt some boar jerky or cut into one of these rabbits. You've also got some berries to eat in the meantime, if you want something simple!

By the time afternoon sets in, everyone should be a little more adjusted -- or, they should at least be a little more aware of the situation. From there, things still need to be done and exploring is always an option! D ▢ For those characters who want to stick around the base camp, there's something worthwhile in discovering the buildings around the area. One such building is the mansion, which contains extra supplies and a renovated kitchen. The kitchen is now functional with electricity and running water, with a few raw ingredients for making whatever your character would like. It's minimal, but also not totally useless. E ▢ If you mill about too long, you'll be put to work. Run into Genette and you'll be sent to pick western part of the island to look for strawberries, wheat and deer (good luck hunting if your character doesn't have the capabilities, but maybe someone else can help?). Run into Genette and she'll offer your character an ax to chop wood with (is this a wise idea? probably not), or a request to go fishing in either a stream or the ocean attached to the island on the eastern side. Or your character can do both if they so choose...? F ▢ With all of these new people milling about, telepathy is on the fritz again. At least, it certainly is for those who are new! Your character may not realize their broadcasting frustrations to the network, or maybe a stupid secret. Their mental filter is certainly broken, but that's at least a great conversation starter. Night finally falls on the exhausting day, and it's time to rest. Thankfully the island is beautiful at night, especially the sky. The night is filled with space worms, relaxing mist and wondrous sights in the stars. G ▢ Adding to the excitement of the beautiful night, Genette has set up something of a...talent show? In an effort to get new coven members acclimated with their magic, she's asked them all to use their magic in some way -- it may take a volunteer, or maybe they can show it off all on their own. In any case, show me what you got. H ▢ Of course, some characters aren't going to be up for this fancy display and will want to go about their own business. There are plenty of places to sit and stew on this island, both private and in plain sight. The stars are spectacularly bright, and the higher up your character gets the less it seems like night time. If they're lucky, they may catch sight of a shooting star, though it's of course much larger than usual. They're directly in space, after all! I ▢ Wildcard! How will your character interact with this new and unusual world?

[Everything here was awkward and unreasonable. Why, if this sort of thing were to happen at home all of her friends would be highly amused at the fact Dia needed to be so...bold, in this way. She was bold in other ways, but violence? Never.

She almost laughs.]

A dragon? Really? I think I'll believe it when I see it as well.

[ Unwilling to volunteer to be slapped, he says the most sensible thing he can think of- ]

Yeah, let's just agree not to show our powers. Leave some mystery between us. What's the prize for the talent show anyway?

[ Assuming there is a prize. And if it's a one-way ticket out of here, then he'll reconsider. He'd also be willing to participate for a decent bed, a burger, or getting his own powers back. He's not that pick really.

Judging by the sad turn-out, he bets it's nothing that good. Can't be worse than a bag of eels and all the other junk they'd foisted on them when they woke up in this place. ]

They do say some things are better left unsaid, or in our case, unseen.

[She wishes there were an actual prize. As it stands, the prize is probably something meaningless and with no value to any of them here.]

[ Guess it's his turn... what did he introduce himself as last time? Oh yeah- ]

[ Cheesy grin and gesture. Got to make it look convincing after all, though he wonders how long he can keep it up. Better to be safe than sorry -words his friend would tell him even if Noctis feels a little weird lying to so many people he keeps running into. ]

Did they drag you to this place in the middle of a nap, too?

[ It feels like that's a recurring theme around here. Well, not the nap part but definitely the kidnapping part. ]

[Sure, you've got her. She doesn't really think about whether someone could be lying to her? It's not like she has a reason to believe it.

She sighs, thinking about what she last remembers.]

I was on stage with my idol group and then I woke up here. So with confidence I can't say that I was not taking a nap before I came here. But I woke up here, however that may have happened.

[Is she over thinking this? Probably.]

[ Yes, she's definitely over-thinking this, but at least, she answered his question in a round-about way. Idol group, though... he feels like that should have been obvious from looking at her, but he's never really met an idol in person before. ]

You sing then?

[ Or something that vaguely passes for singing given what he's heard of the music. Not really his thing, but Prompto would probably be all over her. ]

Didn't know you were such a big deal. Does make me wonder what the Coven wants to do with a bunch of idol singers and ro-... hunters. Idol singers and hunters. In one place.

[ That's totally what he meant to say. ]

I do sing, yes.

[She is honestly the last person anyone would think to be not only an idol fan but an actual idol herself. Though her group is still climbing the ranks. So there is that.]

It makes me wonder as well, why would they gather such an odd variety of people? Is this what they saw fit to help? Is this the group they are entrusting a task to?

I'm guessing you couldn't do the heal-slap thing before, huh?

[ Which means there's absolutely no real reason why they'd pluck an idol from her world unless their selection process is really randomized. That makes him wonder why they got both him and Prompto from his own world, then. That seems more like a deliberate choice, all things considered.

Their motives really don't make any sense at all. ]

Hope there aren't jobs that need us to sing. That's all on you if it comes up.

[ Like hell is he going out anywhere to sing. Not that he thinks his voice is bad, but he'd rather leave that to the idols while he goes around and does the fighting -and fishing, he guesses. ]

I'm afraid not. That part of me is completely new.

[Which also means when they go to higher frequency worlds... well, she's completely normal. Relying on others may be the only way she can make it here.

Idols were probably not a good choice in the long run, but apparently someone had a method to their madness.]

Are you not confident in your singing voice?

[ His fingers fidget along the hair at the base of his neck before he shrugs and avoids looking at the girl's eyes as though she may be able to read his fear at the prospect laden within. ]

...It's all right.

[ He can't remember having sung anything out loud in a while -humming maybe but not outright singing. ]

I'm more of a rhythm game guy.

[ And even then, rather sparingly. ]

Did you end up here on your own?

[ He hasn't seen anyone flipping out over seeing the idol, so he imagines the answer is probably yes. ]

I know that another member of my group is here as well. But no one from home I know is here. This isn't my home at all. Though... the ocean is close enough of a reminder of home.

[She grew up by the seaside so that was at least refreshing.]

Why do you ask? Did you come here alone as well?

[ Noctis makes a vague gesture to his own hair as though to indicate it's sprouting upwards rather aggressively. ]

-his hair's kind of giving him an extra couple of centimeters. I think he just hates being the shortest one.

[ Also, he's fairly sure this girl would fall squarely under Prompto's type (pretty much all girls do), so she'd definitely know if she ran into him. ]

Do they only nab two people from each world?

So you are trying to say he is over-compensating due to his height?

[She wonders if this guy should even be saying such things about his friend. But it's whatever.]

In any case... I'm sure he is a nice person.

I couldn't say for certain, I apologize. Perhaps we should investigate this trend?

[ This is how he expresses his affection for his friends. ]

And how about you do the investigating and just let me know the answer?

[ Because like hell is he going to go around asking everyone the same question. Too much effort. He'd rather commit himself to greater pursuits like trying to find food that he doesn't have to chase after.

Besides, she seems more like a go-getter type. Might as well let her have something to do around here. ]
