OOC Note: This is for any and all unresolved threads you'd like to get out of the way before the coven leaves Aimintas. Feel free to backdate specific prompts to whatever day is suitable for you.

There's no official OOC account for the Palai people. You're free to roleplay their actions and reactions on your own, as in depth as you want -- asking questions, hand-waved interactions, becoming best friends. The new world is your oyster!

Since the Palai discovered that the coven is preparing to leave, they've been preparing for the moment their friends do eventually vanish. This means wrapping up large baskets of food and other supplies that will be given to the coven for their large caravan -- but they also like to give out little personal gifts to those that they recognize or have formed a bond with. Though the Palai are usually people of celebrations, this event is much more muted and personal. Gifts are given and they're certainly congregating, but there's also a dull hum of sadness in the air. The coven has done a lot for their people and helped them establish protection for themselves, so how they fare from here should be positive. With the Uvi gone, will another threat arrive? Who knows -- but the coven won't be here to witness it. A ▢ For those who have Palai children to take care of, the time for their final decision is here. Will they leave their hatchling with their people, or has it become a part of their own family? The Palai are fine with either decision. If your character wants to give up their Palai baby, this is their chance to say goodbye. If they don't want to, the time to choose has come. The Palai will tell them more about their children and how to care for them -- think a regular baby parenting class, except with lizards. B ▢ Certain Palai may have gotten to know your character over their time in Aimintas -- or maybe they barely know your character because they're newer! No matter who your character is, the Palai will give them personalized gifts. These can be based on your character's appearance, extremely insulting, just what your character needed, etc. C ▢ Finally, the Palai are grateful for what the coven's magic has done for them. Some of the Lyna have created little amulets out of the Elto bones, inserting them into glass spheres that glow and prevent some of the electrical sting. These can help your character amplify their powers, which may be fun to play with. Focusing on telepathy while using these amulets, however, will also amplify speech -- leading to some telepathic screaming that your character maybe didn't intend. D ▢ Wildcard! What unfinished business does your character have remaining in Aimintas? Now's the time to take care of it. They'll be gone come tomorrow afternoon.

What's there to apologize for? The back and forth is pretty entertaining unless he's, you know, pinching my cheeks.

But... Hibiki's an interesting person. And a friend. He was so surprised when I called him one.

[ jude gives akira a crooked smile, small but genuine. ]

I'm Jude. It's nice to meet you, too.

[actus]

Yeah. It's nice to see him making friends and not training all the time.

[ really, he's actually glad to be meeting jude and to be having this slightly awkward run-in. it just reaffirms what akira thinks he sees in the other - someone that wants to make connections, wants to be happy, wants to be friends and grow as a person. ]

I'd introduce myself but you already know that. [ another tug of a grin and then, a bit slyer: ]

What else do you know about me?

[talim]

He hasn't divulged much to me about training and the like... but when I told him what I do, he admitted he had underestimated me. I think that's when we became friends, rather than passing acquaintances. Even if he didn't realize it just yet.

[ a pause. jude tilts his head back, thinking. ]

What else do I know about you?

[ he blinks at akira and smiles. ]

Absolutely nothing. Clean slate.

[actus]

Ah.

[ he nods. there isn't too much to say about him. that, and he hates talking about himself, so this is great. ]

Are you also in the military?

[ he can imagine something like that would earn hibiki's respect quickly. ]

[talim]

The military? Is that what he does?

[ jude had no idea. hibiki didn't seem to be one to answer questions; he'd rather ask them. that's the impression jude got, anyway. ]

No. I'm a scientist, but I went to med school, so... A doctor on the side? Those skills have kept me pretty busy here, what with the Uvi and such.

[ he remembers something and grins again, looking somewhere beyond akira. ]

Actually, Hibiki had a headache awhile ago, so I insisted on healing him. Since then, he hasn't shut up about repaying a nonexistent debt.

[actus]

Mm. He's a secretary of some sort.

[ while he's not one to just talk about other people when they're not there, it seems like jude knows enough about hibiki for this level of information not to be awkward or invasive. the last thing he wants is to overstep some weird boundary. ]

.... A doctor. Do you sell on the black market? [ AKIRA. ]

[talim]

... Pardon?

[ AKIRA. ]

I don't think I understand the question.

[actus]

I know someone back home.

[ HE SHRUGS. ]

[talim]

No. I don't sell on the black market.

[ jude is just gawking at him now. way to totally change the subject, akira. ]

Why... do you ask...

[actus]

She's not here and I could use some new medicine.

[ is he joking? he seems awfully serious. but then again he's been saying a lot of jokes so far.....

how mysterious. ]

[talim]

[ jude... narrows his eyes. ]

What kind of medicine, exactly?

[ not that akira's getting any shady medicine from him anytime soon. jude's just bizarrely curious. ]

[actus]

Medicine that helped healing, mostly. And sleeping pills.

[ he says it in a strangely calm and indifferent tone. don't worry about it. ]

[talim]

If you ever need healing, I know magic. I don't think I can help you out with the sleeping pills, though.

[ maybe he suffers from insomnia or nightmares? jude shrugs to himself. ]

[actus]

Mm. I can heal, too. Not back on the island, though.

[ he shakes his head, glancing away. it's going to be interesting going back there. it's a lot less... advanced. ]

[talim]

I still haven't seen it. You and Hibiki have both been here longer than I have.

[ he wonders what he'll do without his artes, if he's prohibited from using them. it'll certainly hinder things, that's for sure. ]

[actus]

[ being here that long gives you a lot of knowledge, but it also leaves a bitter taste in your mouth: seeing people come and go with no reason. it stings. you make friends and they disappear. it's ... hard. ]

It's fine. [ what a talker! ] It's nothing like this.

[talim]

Hmm.

Well, who knows when I'll get the chance to see it, right? It's impossible to predict anything in this place.

[ jude shakes his head. ]

I'm glad you were able to meet Hibiki and share a connection with him, though. I mean it. There's something undeniably precious about forging a close bond like that in unfamiliar circumstances like these.

[actus]

[ oh my god.

that's enough to make akira fidget with the front of his bang, twisting a curl around on his finger. ]

...Thanks. It's made a lot of this easier.

[ it hadn't ever been his intention to get involved with anyone in that way, especially with how uncertain this entire situation was, but things just happen sometimes. unexpectedly and without reason. so it's fine. he's always taken things as they come. ]

[ did akira think he was getting off the hook without a jrpg protag speech? he was dead wrong.

jude wonders how much easier things would be if milla were here, but... the thought disappears as quickly as it came. there's no point in entertaining it. ]

I can imagine.

[ jude offers him a sunshine smile, hugging the books closer to his chest. ]

I'm glad I got the chance to meet you. I hope we can become friends, too.
