There's no official OOC account for the Palai people. You're free to roleplay their actions and reactions on your own, as in depth as you want -- asking questions, hand-waved interactions, becoming best friends. The new world is your oyster!

For decades, the Palai have had to deal with the threat of the Uvi invading their homes, killing their families and returning 30 days later. After the coven found their way to Aimintas, the Palai found that the threat wasn't so...threatening. After the last attack, with many more Palai lost as compared to previous Uvi instances, some Palai had lost hope. Now, after seeing their nemesis blown to bits and falling out of the ocean, their faith in safety is restored. While the Uvi are still committed (by and large) to learning more about barriers and other forms of safety, the time for focusing on serious things has passed. It will return, but tonight? They celebrate. Unlike their last, shrimpy festival, this party has a lot more going for it. The Palai have had time to process the events and prepare themselves for a grand celebration. The Palai know how to party, but you ain't seen nothin' like this. A ▢ As a birthday tradition, the Palai give the birthday lizard a special concoction. It contains Elto energy and a combination of found herbs that can easily be located in Aimintas. When these herbs are combined with the Elto energy, they create a sort of...hallucinogenic experience. It's supposed to feel extremely relaxing and give the Palai pleasant visions, but in human bodies it's essentially just getting high. There are vials of these being passed around like candy, so don't worry about anyone running out. B ▢ Despite the adults getting lit, there are obviously a lot of baby Palai on the lose. Responsible coven members who have their own babies will have the ability to let them run wild and play with their lizardy cousins. If you want to spend time with your baby, the nursery caretakers have platters of crackers with mushy foods adorning them -- these are essentially candy to a tiny Palai. They may also be tempted by other foods present at the festivities, but you can avoid them getting a tummy ache if you have a watchful eye. C ▢ Speaking of food, there certainly is a lot of it. There are large grills being heated by the newly found bone structures. These hold shrimp and fish, grilled vegetable skewers and other foods. Instead of the Palai doing the serving, the coven members and other Palai are instead encouraged to utilize their own raw ingredients (which includes several large sharks, dolphins, etc.) in whatever fashion they choose. It's essentially a "build-your-own-kabob" station with no limits. D ▢ Because the party is lasting on into the night, some Elto have decided to light the marketplace with some of the bone structures they found by powering them and inserting them into small cloth bags that they then magically levitate around. While they provide a powerful light source that can increase the party's longevity, they're also floating live wires. Bump into one of these and you'll get a nasty shock! This is doubly concerning since Palai babies are fascinated by following these floating "toys." E ▢ The Palai, feeling more familial and supportive of their ideals than ever, haven't let go of the whole family/romance pushing on the coven. Their newest attempt is a bit of a prank (probably due to high Palais) who have taken magic bone structures and tied thick strings to the spines that poke out of them. At the end of these strings are loops that they're quickly slipping around the wrists of coven members they find. You may find that you're suddenly magically connected to someone -- or two other people if you're lucky enough -- by a magical thread that's VERY hard to slip out of or break. When I was 18 so uh... [give him a moment. subtracting 21 from 18 is very difficult math.] 3 years ago.

[three years already. time sure does fly. it feels like only yesterday that he joined up and was among the lowest ranks. now, he's somehow the leader of the whole army. hmm... maybe he should suggest something like these herbs for his knights? if he's been this wound up then they all likely are, too. what a good idea. he'll have to discuss it with his highness upon returning.]

That sure is a long time without relaxing.

[As a soldier, 9S knows how difficult life can be. There are a lot of demands, orders, and responsibilities. Even so, he still found moments during which to relax, and even 2B did. He doesn't want to think there aren't room for those moments where Flynn is concerned too, especially since he takes the responsibility of protecting others so seriously]

Doesn't that ever make you tired?

Uh-ha. A lot of the time, but I don't let it show since a good leader needs to look like a leader and leaders don't get tired.

[in order to be an ideal for his soldiers to look up to, he needs act like an ideal. no getting tired allowed! what it boils down to is having to act superhuman despite being just human. it's fine, though. relaxing tonight will more than suffice for a good while to come.]

Even when that leader is human, just like the people he leads?

[9S doesn't know how to feel about that notion. Emotions were prohibited to YoRHa units, and yet even the Commander had been in a romantic relationship, once. When Flynn is human, and surely those under him understand that, he isn't certain why he couldn't be allowed that humanity.

It seems...restrictive, in its way. But perhaps there's something he doesn't understand]

A leader can't be human even if they are human. They need to be an example for everyone and that means being superhuman.

[had he not been high then maybe he would've worded that in a less worrisome way but what's done is done. flynn's logic boils down to this. he NEEDS to be the absolute best he can be at all times and especially now. sure, it means not sleeping as much and working harder, but that's just how things are.]

But isn't that an ideal they couldn't live up to?

[In a way, that seems discouraging to someone like 9S. An example that can't ever be attained or achieved is something forever out of reach. But then, he's always been the sort who reached out even for what he wasn't supposed to have, so that surely colors his perspective on the matter]

[leave it to 9s to point out the obvious truth, if a truth flynn keeps on ignoring. he frowns and remains silent for a moment.]

I don't know, but I know I have to try. If I don't then I'll be letting everyone counting on me down.

[in other words, better to work himself to death than to fail. he has to be perfect, he has to be flawless, he has to be an ideal: that's what a leader is, right?]

I think having vulnerabilities is part of what makes you a person. If you were perfect...would your strengths really stand out that much?

[9S knows it's not his place to argue, but he thinks it's such a very subjective issue. Besides which, he thinks that Flynn's rejecting something within himself if he's preoccupied with setting and meeting a standard he can't ever reach.

He's not an android. The impossible shouldn't be set before him that way]

[would his strengths really stand out? wouldn't perfection make all his qualities his strengths? wouldn't it eliminate weakness? that's what perfection means, doesn't it? flynn needs to mull this over properly once his mind feels less hazy.]

There is, but I wish they had a more than seafood and vegetables to choose from.

[seafood is the real problem. flynn frowns unhappily over at a nearby stall with mainly that ingredient in all its dishes. seafood. why seafood. there needs to be some diversity! and diversity means red meat. or any non-fish meat, really.]

I don't mind vegetables, but seafood... [he scrunches his nose in a way a sober him likely never would in public.] I'd rather avoid it, if at all possible.
