[WORLD ONE | DING DONG THE FISH IS DEAD]

Who: Coven members and the Palai
Where: Celebrating the Uvi going boom-boom
When: Day 67
Open/Closed: Open to All
OOC Note:

  • The initial setting information found here should be utilized for threads here.
  • There's no official OOC account for the Palai people. You're free to roleplay their actions and reactions on your own, as in depth as you want -- asking questions, hand-waved interactions, becoming best friends. The new world is your oyster!

For decades, the Palai have had to deal with the threat of the Uvi invading their homes, killing their families and returning 30 days later. After the coven found their way to Aimintas, the Palai found that the threat wasn't so...threatening.

After the last attack, with many more Palai lost as compared to previous Uvi instances, some Palai had lost hope. Now, after seeing their nemesis blown to bits and falling out of the ocean, their faith in safety is restored.

While the Uvi are still committed (by and large) to learning more about barriers and other forms of safety, the time for focusing on serious things has passed. It will return, but tonight? They celebrate.

Unlike their last, shrimpy festival, this party has a lot more going for it. The Palai have had time to process the events and prepare themselves for a grand celebration. The Palai know how to party, but you ain't seen nothin' like this.

A ▢ As a birthday tradition, the Palai give the birthday lizard a special concoction. It contains Elto energy and a combination of found herbs that can easily be located in Aimintas. When these herbs are combined with the Elto energy, they create a sort of...hallucinogenic experience. It's supposed to feel extremely relaxing and give the Palai pleasant visions, but in human bodies it's essentially just getting high. There are vials of these being passed around like candy, so don't worry about anyone running out.

B ▢ Despite the adults getting lit, there are obviously a lot of baby Palai on the lose. Responsible coven members who have their own babies will have the ability to let them run wild and play with their lizardy cousins. If you want to spend time with your baby, the nursery caretakers have platters of crackers with mushy foods adorning them -- these are essentially candy to a tiny Palai. They may also be tempted by other foods present at the festivities, but you can avoid them getting a tummy ache if you have a watchful eye.

C ▢ Speaking of food, there certainly is a lot of it. There are large grills being heated by the newly found bone structures. These hold shrimp and fish, grilled vegetable skewers and other foods. Instead of the Palai doing the serving, the coven members and other Palai are instead encouraged to utilize their own raw ingredients (which includes several large sharks, dolphins, etc.) in whatever fashion they choose. It's essentially a "build-your-own-kabob" station with no limits.

D ▢ Because the party is lasting on into the night, some Elto have decided to light the marketplace with some of the bone structures they found by powering them and inserting them into small cloth bags that they then magically levitate around. While they provide a powerful light source that can increase the party's longevity, they're also floating live wires. Bump into one of these and you'll get a nasty shock! This is doubly concerning since Palai babies are fascinated by following these floating "toys."

E ▢ The Palai, feeling more familial and supportive of their ideals than ever, haven't let go of the whole family/romance pushing on the coven. Their newest attempt is a bit of a prank (probably due to high Palais) who have taken magic bone structures and tied thick strings to the spines that poke out of them. At the end of these strings are loops that they're quickly slipping around the wrists of coven members they find. You may find that you're suddenly magically connected to someone -- or two other people if you're lucky enough -- by a magical thread that's VERY hard to slip out of or break.

F ▢ Wildcard Part 1: Other previous party prompts can also be considered here, from the rolls that make magic go haywire to the aged liquor that causes a bit more than a headache.

G ▢ Wildcard Part 2: Any prompt you like!

I'll try and be descriptive just in case though.

[As much as Waver was originally unnerved by the idea of a telepathic network, he's come to understand and rely on it for emergencies. Like this one.]

I bet you'll get stuck at least three more times tonight.

It's twice so far, so...that's a safe bet.

[Though he's still grimacing at the prospect]

    teratias: (13. External screaming)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-14 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
They really are hounding you, huh?
    deem: (break)

    [personal profile] deem 2017-09-14 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
They actually wrote weird stories about me and Jude... I'm not sure I understand the purpose of that sort of thing.

    [Aside some bizarre wish-fulfillment.

He heaves out a long-suffering sigh]

Drawings too. Seems like the more I try to set them straight the more determined they get.

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-14 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
    I...they wrote what?!

    [This is news. Horrifying news.]

Maybe they're responding to how much you keep trying to correct 'em.
    deem: (...)

    [personal profile] deem 2017-09-14 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
So it's like they're...fighting me on it?

    [His shoulders slump]

I really don't understand why they're like this.
    teratias: (Default)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-14 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
    Maybe unintentionally but.

    [Yeah buddy. Sorry.]

You wanna go ignore the problem somewhere together?
    deem: (ponder)

    [personal profile] deem 2017-09-14 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds like a plan to me. I hope they get some better hobbies.

[But in the meantime it seems like the only thing they can do is ignore it]

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-14 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
    Bone experiments, maybe?

[But more importantly, back to food!]
    deem: (look)

    [personal profile] deem 2017-09-14 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
They've sure been making use of them. Maybe they can finally develop proper flight units.

[He trails after Waver, naturally inclined to follow]
    teratias: (15. Regular conversation)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-14 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe they'll focus on pressure and try and get to the surface instead.

[Waver weaves in and out of herds of Palai kids, somehow looking like he's not a flailing ball of limbs on most days.]

More ocean to explore and whatnot.
    deem: (box)

    [personal profile] deem 2017-09-14 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
[9S keeps up easily enough, though he has to sidestep a few children along the way. There's so many of them running around]

That's true. Now it should at least be safer for them.
    teratias: (12. Breathe out)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-14 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Assuming that there aren't more Uvi out there, of course.
    deem: (say)

    [personal profile] deem 2017-09-14 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
I'd be surprised if they were completely decimated.

    [To be entirely frank]
    teratias: (Default)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-14 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
It'd make no sense. There are probably other groups out there, just like these guys can't be the only Palai out there.
    deem: (ponder)

    [personal profile] deem 2017-09-15 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Makes me think that barrier's still important to set up before we go.

[Rather than leave the Palai to their own devices, only to be attacked again one day]
    teratias: (Default)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-15 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. There is probably a way to argue for it, I'm sure.

They tend to respond to set examples, you know.
    deem: (box)

    [personal profile] deem 2017-09-15 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
They were pretty in favor of it before, and apparently not bothered by using the bones...

[And as an android he can only approve. Cherish your resources; they loot their own fallen bodies back home too. Nothing macabre about it]

Guess I'd better ask, since we might not have much time.
    teratias: (15. Regular conversation)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-15 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
    [Waver nods in agreement.]

Probably a good idea. And they seem to listen to you, I've noticed.
    deem: (say)

    [personal profile] deem 2017-09-15 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Don't they listen to all of us?

[It always seemed that way to him, at least.

So many questions were thrown their way all the time]
    teratias: (15. Regular conversation)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-16 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
...Good point. [Damnit, why are these lizards so receptive!?]

Until it involves romance, then nah. Ignore us. Constantly.
    deem: (turn)

    [personal profile] deem 2017-09-17 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Also a good point. They're really determined where that's concerned.

    [Far too much so]
    teratias: (Default)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-17 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
So maybe the better question is, how do we get their attention for protection to be on the same level as romancing?
    deem: (ponder)

    [personal profile] deem 2017-09-17 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[9S brings a hand to his chin as he considers that]

Their desire to protect their children should be pretty strong, right?

[Even machines were like that, so surely any organic species is]
    teratias: (Default)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-18 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
You'd think. That's a really good angle I hadn't considered, come to think of it.

    [That's definitely weird.]

I don't think their reproduction cycle is that frequent that they can be careless with offspring either.
