[WORLD ONE | DING DONG THE FISH IS DEAD]

Who: Coven members and the Palai
Where: Celebrating the Uvi going boom-boom
When: Day 67
Open/Closed: Open to All
OOC Note:

  • The initial setting information found here should be utilized for threads here.
  • There's no official OOC account for the Palai people. You're free to roleplay their actions and reactions on your own, as in depth as you want -- asking questions, hand-waved interactions, becoming best friends. The new world is your oyster!

For decades, the Palai have had to deal with the threat of the Uvi invading their homes, killing their families and returning 30 days later. After the coven found their way to Aimintas, the Palai found that the threat wasn't so...threatening.

After the last attack, with many more Palai lost as compared to previous Uvi instances, some Palai had lost hope. Now, after seeing their nemesis blown to bits and falling out of the ocean, their faith in safety is restored.

While the Uvi are still committed (by and large) to learning more about barriers and other forms of safety, the time for focusing on serious things has passed. It will return, but tonight? They celebrate.

Unlike their last, shrimpy festival, this party has a lot more going for it. The Palai have had time to process the events and prepare themselves for a grand celebration. The Palai know how to party, but you ain't seen nothin' like this.

A ▢ As a birthday tradition, the Palai give the birthday lizard a special concoction. It contains Elto energy and a combination of found herbs that can easily be located in Aimintas. When these herbs are combined with the Elto energy, they create a sort of...hallucinogenic experience. It's supposed to feel extremely relaxing and give the Palai pleasant visions, but in human bodies it's essentially just getting high. There are vials of these being passed around like candy, so don't worry about anyone running out.

B ▢ Despite the adults getting lit, there are obviously a lot of baby Palai on the lose. Responsible coven members who have their own babies will have the ability to let them run wild and play with their lizardy cousins. If you want to spend time with your baby, the nursery caretakers have platters of crackers with mushy foods adorning them -- these are essentially candy to a tiny Palai. They may also be tempted by other foods present at the festivities, but you can avoid them getting a tummy ache if you have a watchful eye.

C ▢ Speaking of food, there certainly is a lot of it. There are large grills being heated by the newly found bone structures. These hold shrimp and fish, grilled vegetable skewers and other foods. Instead of the Palai doing the serving, the coven members and other Palai are instead encouraged to utilize their own raw ingredients (which includes several large sharks, dolphins, etc.) in whatever fashion they choose. It's essentially a "build-your-own-kabob" station with no limits.

D ▢ Because the party is lasting on into the night, some Elto have decided to light the marketplace with some of the bone structures they found by powering them and inserting them into small cloth bags that they then magically levitate around. While they provide a powerful light source that can increase the party's longevity, they're also floating live wires. Bump into one of these and you'll get a nasty shock! This is doubly concerning since Palai babies are fascinated by following these floating "toys."

E ▢ The Palai, feeling more familial and supportive of their ideals than ever, haven't let go of the whole family/romance pushing on the coven. Their newest attempt is a bit of a prank (probably due to high Palais) who have taken magic bone structures and tied thick strings to the spines that poke out of them. At the end of these strings are loops that they're quickly slipping around the wrists of coven members they find. You may find that you're suddenly magically connected to someone -- or two other people if you're lucky enough -- by a magical thread that's VERY hard to slip out of or break.

F ▢ Wildcard Part 1: Other previous party prompts can also be considered here, from the rolls that make magic go haywire to the aged liquor that causes a bit more than a headache.

G ▢ Wildcard Part 2: Any prompt you like!

( Being a lizard father at 19 is pretty normal okay; what's your excuse?? )

That seems a bit dangerous, don't you think? ( Tugging at them gently, though they show no signs of conceding the plate as their eyes stare beadily into Waver's being. ) What with those large open grills and all.

Well, okay, don't let them near the actual grill? You should be fine otherwise.

[Fuck it. Waver picks a very large shrimp off his plate and offers it over.]

    They're assertive, at least.

    They're ( tug tug ) a handful.

( They contemplate the shrimp for a moment before deciding to snap it up, swallowing quickly. If you think that's enough to satisfy them, you're wrong. )

It's easier said than done, keeping it in one place. Or keeping it away from something; that's even harder. ( For as short and stubby as their legs are, this is one quick lizard. )

[That's all they're getting from Waver!]

Maybe you need a leash or something. Does your kid even have a name?
    enflame: (( 110 ))

    [personal profile] enflame 2017-09-14 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Lisko. I didn't pick it. ( He conceded that fight in the name of friendship. ) Putting a lizard on a leash sounds a bit ridiculous, especially since they're a bit more human than a common cat.

( Not that people in his world leash cats often, but that's the most common animal he can think of. Still, there's nothing human about how Lisko is trying to claw their way onto that plate still, tail violently thrashing and hitting their father in the ribs. )
    teratias: (13. External screaming)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-14 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
It's different. And good for yelling.

I'm pretty sure it is ridiculous but-- hey! Come on! [With that, Waver yanks his plate out of Lisko's arm reach, because seriously kiddo CALM DOWN.]
    enflame: (( 223 ))

    [personal profile] enflame 2017-09-14 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
( Lisko just stares at Waver with their beady black eyes, considering her next move. Emil contemplates Waver's words before he senses their body stiffen in his arms. )

Oh, you better step back. They'll try to shock you.
    teratias: (13. External screaming)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-14 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
...I hate that you aren't kidding. What's their radius?

[Waver starts to back away, slow and steady.]
    enflame: (( 028 ))

    [personal profile] enflame 2017-09-14 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
I think they have to touch you...but they like to lunge, so watch out.

( At least he's trying to bolster his grip on the lizard while they continue to try and probe Waver's soul with their eyes. )

Lisko, you're not allowed to shock anyone. N-- ( Sooo instead of going on the offensive and shocking Waver, she gives her dad a nice jolt with that swinging tail. Ow. )
    teratias: (13. External screaming)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-14 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
    Oh good God!

[Waver puts his plate down and aside, and then runs over to make sure Emil's okay. Sure, that's probably what Lisko wants and she's gonna go grab it in point five seconds, but Emil's had enough bodily harm lately.]

    You okay?!
    enflame: (( 192 ))

    [personal profile] enflame 2017-09-14 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
( His life is suffering, it's okay. Their zaps aren't exactly powerful at this age, though they are a bit jarring. He's mostly just not used to suddenly being electrocuted. )

Yeah...I'm fine. ( Except it did make his hair poof a little bit, but that will be a hill climbed later. He flips his lizard child around to look them in the face, snout almost pressed to his nose. ) That was very naughty and you won't do that again, do you understand?

( Their eyes give no sense of recognition but their claws clack in agreeance. There's food to worry about at the moment. Kids these days... )
    teratias: (12. Breathe out)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-14 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Waver tries not to read the proverbial I do what I want that is so clearly in this lizard child's eyes, but it...it's there. And so obvious.]

Maybe we should get you some rubber gloves or something to insulate your hands.
    enflame: (( 035 ))

    [personal profile] enflame 2017-09-14 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
That might actually be handy. ( Emil isn't used to handling electricity, but he does know that you shouldn't touch it directly...the rubber as a grounding agent concept is lost on him. )

They're only a couple of days old, though, so it's no surprise they're mischevious. They'll grow out of it.
    teratias: (07. Grabbing a book)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-14 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
I'll keep an eye out for something like it. Since clean up's been so gross, I think I've seen a few pairs. [Time to barter with some lizards!]

....how long does it take for them to get to maturity anyway?
    enflame: (( 079 ))

    [personal profile] enflame 2017-09-14 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
I...don't actually know? I guess they'll just get bigger and one day they'll stop.

( AKA he's very blatantly winging it with subpar results. )
    teratias: (Default)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-14 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
    Uh.

    [Shit.]

    Maybe you should find out?
    enflame: (( 023 ))

    [personal profile] enflame 2017-09-14 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Do you think so? That may actually be useful for making sure they hit all their growth markers.

( At least they're being fed properly -- well, if you count being fed a lot as "properly." )
    teratias: (05.Consideration)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-14 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Duh. You're their dad, right? Shouldn't you know this as a matter of course?
    enflame: (( 063 ))

    [personal profile] enflame 2017-09-14 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
It's a lizard. It's not like they gave me a class on how they grow when they handed me the egg.

( Probably a slightly short-sided thing on the part of the Palai but they aren't exactly a species that thinks in the long-term. )
    teratias: (Default)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-14 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
No, I meant now that you've got it, you should be asking around. [But also the Palai could be a little more helpful.]

There's no reason you'd automatically know the biological stuff.
    enflame: (( 161 ))

    [personal profile] enflame 2017-09-14 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
( Oh. Yeah. Also a good idea. You're officially the brains of this operation, Waver. Emil can be the muscle. )

True...as much as I don't mind caring for this lizard, I wish it was a bit simpler. I suppose that's just part of parenthood.
    teratias: (05.Consideration)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-14 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe we could ask them for a how Palai grow book? Hell, I'll write whatever one says down if they don't....

[Hey! He did not sign up for co-parenting!]
    enflame: (( 083 ))

    [personal profile] enflame 2017-09-15 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't want to have to read anything. I'll talk to them and just remember everything.

( Talk? Yes. Remember? No. )
    teratias: (15. Regular conversation)

    [personal profile] teratias 2017-09-15 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
    [...sure, buddy. Sure.]

Well, okay. But man, you're gonna need another bed in the beach hut whenever we're back on the hub.
    enflame: (( 212 ))

    [personal profile] enflame 2017-09-17 08:58 am (UTC)(link)
After a while, I suppose -- if I take them with me. ( He's undecided for now. ) They're small enough to sleep with me at this age.

I just hope they don't shock me while I'm sleeping one of these days.
