There's no official OOC account for the Palai people. You're free to roleplay their actions and reactions on your own, as in depth as you want -- asking questions, hand-waved interactions, becoming best friends. The new world is your oyster!

For decades, the Palai have had to deal with the threat of the Uvi invading their homes, killing their families and returning 30 days later. After the coven found their way to Aimintas, the Palai found that the threat wasn't so...threatening. After the last attack, with many more Palai lost as compared to previous Uvi instances, some Palai had lost hope. Now, after seeing their nemesis blown to bits and falling out of the ocean, their faith in safety is restored. While the Uvi are still committed (by and large) to learning more about barriers and other forms of safety, the time for focusing on serious things has passed. It will return, but tonight? They celebrate. Unlike their last, shrimpy festival, this party has a lot more going for it. The Palai have had time to process the events and prepare themselves for a grand celebration. The Palai know how to party, but you ain't seen nothin' like this. A ▢ As a birthday tradition, the Palai give the birthday lizard a special concoction. It contains Elto energy and a combination of found herbs that can easily be located in Aimintas. When these herbs are combined with the Elto energy, they create a sort of...hallucinogenic experience. It's supposed to feel extremely relaxing and give the Palai pleasant visions, but in human bodies it's essentially just getting high. There are vials of these being passed around like candy, so don't worry about anyone running out. B ▢ Despite the adults getting lit, there are obviously a lot of baby Palai on the lose. Responsible coven members who have their own babies will have the ability to let them run wild and play with their lizardy cousins. If you want to spend time with your baby, the nursery caretakers have platters of crackers with mushy foods adorning them -- these are essentially candy to a tiny Palai. They may also be tempted by other foods present at the festivities, but you can avoid them getting a tummy ache if you have a watchful eye. C ▢ Speaking of food, there certainly is a lot of it. There are large grills being heated by the newly found bone structures. These hold shrimp and fish, grilled vegetable skewers and other foods. Instead of the Palai doing the serving, the coven members and other Palai are instead encouraged to utilize their own raw ingredients (which includes several large sharks, dolphins, etc.) in whatever fashion they choose. It's essentially a "build-your-own-kabob" station with no limits. D ▢ Because the party is lasting on into the night, some Elto have decided to light the marketplace with some of the bone structures they found by powering them and inserting them into small cloth bags that they then magically levitate around. While they provide a powerful light source that can increase the party's longevity, they're also floating live wires. Bump into one of these and you'll get a nasty shock! This is doubly concerning since Palai babies are fascinated by following these floating "toys." E ▢ The Palai, feeling more familial and supportive of their ideals than ever, haven't let go of the whole family/romance pushing on the coven. Their newest attempt is a bit of a prank (probably due to high Palais) who have taken magic bone structures and tied thick strings to the spines that poke out of them. At the end of these strings are loops that they're quickly slipping around the wrists of coven members they find. You may find that you're suddenly magically connected to someone -- or two other people if you're lucky enough -- by a magical thread that's VERY hard to slip out of or break. ( Target acquired, target defeated. After a shocking little pap to Souda's leg, the Elto baby begins to try and crawl up him to get at that food they want so much. Thank god dad's here to intervene before his pants get pulled down or something.

After picking up the wee thing, Emil moves to apologize; sorry, they're really hungry at that age, etc. Except there's an obvious sharp intake of air as he looks at Souda's stock-still face in such a horrible expression. )

Lisko. ( He's whispering to the lizard now. ) I think you killed this man.

( Emil hopes he doesn't look that ugly when he dies...YIKES. )

[Wow. WOW!!!]

Guh-- [He wheezes and he shakes his head and he gives Emil a glare.]

You don't even ask if I'm okay?! That's what you're goin' with?! I'm alive!

[He's been through worse, it's fine.]

( Thank goodness, he didn't raise a murderer. It doesn't help Emil from gasping since this man apparently just came back to life. )

You looked dead! And at least now you aren't! ( Not that he was dead in the first place, but. ) You seem pretty okay to me.

( Meanwhile, the lizard in question just stares at Souda with what appears to be a happy look on their face. They're proud of their handiwork. )

How did I look dead?! I looked electrocuted!

He looks accusingly down at the lizard and does his best to make a face. Like. Child. Do not electrocute poor mechanics like him.] Your kid looks way too happy! [YOUR. KID. EMIL.]

( If that's what you look like electrocuted, dude...what the fuck does dead look like? )

Huh? Oh. ( Emil looks down at their pleased lizard face, legs swinging back and forth. He...didn't mean to raise a sadist, but that's how it ended up working out. ) I don't know if they mean to hurt anybody, but they like showing off. These kind have magic, you know?

( As if to agree, Lisko shows off their front feet, claws clacking like a crab's. They did good, didn't they? )

[We don't know because miraculously he survived in canon... crazy, right, since he has his death faces all prepped and ready to go.]

Showing off... [He folds his arms, unimpressed.] They gotta not show off on people! [Pause.] You look way too proud, kid! That hurt!

[Though you couldn't tell by how he's fussing.

He's totally fine, if feeling a bit... tingly.]

( He survived, but did his hair? That is an untamed mane. Though Emil might be looking at it biasedly since he did just get a few volts sent through him. Check for split ends when you get home, Souda. )

I'm trying to teach them! Babies do have a mind of their own. Accidents happen!

( Yeah, that was no accident. Still, Lisko looks up at this pink-haired human and stretches out their arms. They want to pap you better...let them make nice!! )

[He doesn't know how to read this, what does he do?? Surely it doesn't want him to scoop it up right? Right??

He's staring at Emil...]

Well, usually that means they want something...

( Emil looks from the lizard to Souda, then back again. Mmmmm.

He's just gonna streeeeetch out his arms...the lizard has chosen you. You are The One. Take the plunge. )

[He doesn't want to be The One...

Souda is supremely wary of touching that little lizard again... but he approaches warily... Fine, he'll sort of extend his hands toward it like what, what do you want.]

Don't shock me... don't shock me... [He's muttering to himself.]

( They can hear you, thankfully -- and they also aren't completely devoid of compassion. Instead of a shock, the tiny lizard tyke offers a gentle pat or two, softly grazing his hand with their curved claws. There, there, half-dead purple-haired man. It'll be okay. )

Oh, uh. They like you...or they're sorry? Or they want to crawl on you. The pats can mean a lot of different things!

[Oh. Uh. Less shocking than anticipated. Souda cautiously cracks open his eyes (he'd squeezed them shut and braced himself) to peer in bafflement at the lizard.]

Uh... I'll take it as the first two. I feel like if I let 'em crawl on me, they'll fall off...

( See friend, it's not so bad! One of those tiny, scaled hands grabs onto his thumb, though -- they seem to want to latch, no other ulterior motives here!! )

Uh, well they're pretty... resilient? Not like real babies. They fall off me and the bed and everything all the time!

( Casually ignoring the sudden grabation, Lisko just does that sometimes nbd )

Ain't that bad?!

[Maybe it hit its head and that's why it randomly shocked him. Yeah. That makes sense. However, Souda peers skeptically down at Lisko and awkwardly moves his free hand to like... pat its head.]

( They seem to like that, as evident from the burbling noises they make with their mouth -- lizard laughter. )

I don't think they're like human babies. I'd be considered if a human child fell off things over and over, but lizards are hardier. At least, nothing seems wrong with them and they get right back up.

( This may not seem obvious considering the baby in question burbles louder and clacks their claws even more quickly than before. )

[Oh... maybe it's kind of cute after all. Yeah. Animals (children???) aren't Souda's specialty by any stretch of the imagination but as long as there's no electrocution happening he's pretty okay with this!]

So, you're like... it's dad, yeah? How'd you...

( The gurgling always wins them over in the end. That's stopped now, but the tiny creature isn't showing any signs of future violence...for now. )
