There's no official OOC account for the Palai people. You're free to roleplay their actions and reactions on your own, as in depth as you want -- asking questions, hand-waved interactions, becoming best friends. The new world is your oyster!

For decades, the Palai have had to deal with the threat of the Uvi invading their homes, killing their families and returning 30 days later. After the coven found their way to Aimintas, the Palai found that the threat wasn't so...threatening. After the last attack, with many more Palai lost as compared to previous Uvi instances, some Palai had lost hope. Now, after seeing their nemesis blown to bits and falling out of the ocean, their faith in safety is restored. While the Uvi are still committed (by and large) to learning more about barriers and other forms of safety, the time for focusing on serious things has passed. It will return, but tonight? They celebrate. Unlike their last, shrimpy festival, this party has a lot more going for it. The Palai have had time to process the events and prepare themselves for a grand celebration. The Palai know how to party, but you ain't seen nothin' like this. A ▢ As a birthday tradition, the Palai give the birthday lizard a special concoction. It contains Elto energy and a combination of found herbs that can easily be located in Aimintas. When these herbs are combined with the Elto energy, they create a sort of...hallucinogenic experience. It's supposed to feel extremely relaxing and give the Palai pleasant visions, but in human bodies it's essentially just getting high. There are vials of these being passed around like candy, so don't worry about anyone running out. B ▢ Despite the adults getting lit, there are obviously a lot of baby Palai on the lose. Responsible coven members who have their own babies will have the ability to let them run wild and play with their lizardy cousins. If you want to spend time with your baby, the nursery caretakers have platters of crackers with mushy foods adorning them -- these are essentially candy to a tiny Palai. They may also be tempted by other foods present at the festivities, but you can avoid them getting a tummy ache if you have a watchful eye. C ▢ Speaking of food, there certainly is a lot of it. There are large grills being heated by the newly found bone structures. These hold shrimp and fish, grilled vegetable skewers and other foods. Instead of the Palai doing the serving, the coven members and other Palai are instead encouraged to utilize their own raw ingredients (which includes several large sharks, dolphins, etc.) in whatever fashion they choose. It's essentially a "build-your-own-kabob" station with no limits. D ▢ Because the party is lasting on into the night, some Elto have decided to light the marketplace with some of the bone structures they found by powering them and inserting them into small cloth bags that they then magically levitate around. While they provide a powerful light source that can increase the party's longevity, they're also floating live wires. Bump into one of these and you'll get a nasty shock! This is doubly concerning since Palai babies are fascinated by following these floating "toys." E ▢ The Palai, feeling more familial and supportive of their ideals than ever, haven't let go of the whole family/romance pushing on the coven. Their newest attempt is a bit of a prank (probably due to high Palais) who have taken magic bone structures and tied thick strings to the spines that poke out of them. At the end of these strings are loops that they're quickly slipping around the wrists of coven members they find. You may find that you're suddenly magically connected to someone -- or two other people if you're lucky enough -- by a magical thread that's VERY hard to slip out of or break. [ being toked as h*ck and watching children is basically camilla's life on a good day, so she didn't hesitate in lending a hand at one of the many little play areas overseen by the daycare. the little gremlins are quite fond of her at this point, what with her constant presence among them anyway, that some have become a little territorial, probably thanks in part to how the scary and shitty attacks have brought with them the reality of losing a cherished person.

so, whether you're an unlucky passerby or a parent with a hatchling of their own, or even just another helper-- if you get just a little too close to auntie camilla for the little guy's liking, a small palai will give you a shove, smack your butt, or give you a nice, direct notice. 'she's my camilla, get your own!'

camilla just laughs at your misfortune. ]

[Waver had...sort of made friends with some of the kids he had been baby sitting when helping out with the daycare. Sort of being the key word, he had mostly seen them as little kids to distract away from construction, but they liked him well enough, and he had at least decided to bring them a few plates of food. Waver suspected the coven would be leaving soon, so it was a subtle good bye.

Camilla's laugh in the background is a surprise. So's the smack.]

What the...? [He looks down, then blinks.] Jeez, someone's being overprotective.

[ waver is a pleasantly surprising sight, but it makes the crazy little frogling's assault a little funnier for some reason. maybe because she half expected waver to punt him into the next realm. ]

I'm surprised to see you here. I never would have guessed you were good with infants and children. Or were you blessed with a little egg of your own?

No, I definitely didn't sign up for parenting. [He's 19, he is in no way ready for that level of responsibility.]

I helped out with the daycare stuff and kind of...just figured out how to distract them well?

[ camilla is or is close to the same age and, to be fair, neither is she regardless of what she may think. children aren't porcelain unicorns!!! you can't use them to fill the void in your heart!!!! ]

They seem to like you well enough. --Ah, except this one, of course.

[ Butty McSmackerson looks up at waver again, eyeing him. ]

Keep this up, and perhaps you will be fit for fatherhood someday. Even your little friend here will come around.

[ jude is high as a kite, just totally gone, and like a harem anime protagonist he stumbles over god knows what and ends up face first in camilla's warm, beautiful, busty bazongas.

there's an awkward pause, like he hasn't quite registered what just happened, and then: ]

[ this is it... camilla's night will not get better than this, even if she's made queen of a lesbian island full of beautiful hoshidan women and gentle little children needing a big sister. of course, she wishes it was corrin who was nestled in her you know whats, but jude is proving to be an excellent stand-in.

without missing a beat, camilla smiles sweetly and pets jude's head, soothing and comforting . ]

Are you comfortable, dear? If you'd like, I will happily warm you up until you're satisfied.

[ she's so gross but tbf in this case she means she'll lay him down somewhere safe and give him a blanket...... okay fine, she's totally going to cuddle with him too. ]

[ he doesn't know if that's a yes or a no. not much is registering with him at the moment. he pulls back to look up at her through glassy eyes and thick lashes. ]

[ camilla could puke in her hands and slap her own face, jude is so fucking cute. not to mention, he genuinely did seem to have a little bit too much, so camilla is obligated to save this poor angel at this point. she contemplates carrying him like a baby, but she knows jude isn't feather-light like elise. a fireman's carry isn't very soothing either, so instead she settles for giving his head another tender, loving, not creepy stroke, before trying to guide him onto his feet. ]

Let me help you, dear. It wouldn't do to have you getting hurt. Come now, can you stand?

I do not need to be your mother to be concerned for you. I would besmirch my reputation as both a princess and a woman if I didn't say anything while knowing better. What did vegetables ever do to you? Just because they look yucky doesn't mean they are.

[ she gives the territorial little reptilian catastrophe a reassuring pat on his back before picking him up and sitting him on her lap. then, she smiles up at haru expectantly. ]

In fact, Haru would love to become friends with you, and even wants us to play together. Isn't that right, Haru?

[ camilla can tell when a person is rolling on the good shit too. has haru ever played patty cake or miss mary mack while high?? camilla is about to teach her. ]

[In truth, Haru has never been high before. She's not dumb enough to eat the weird leftovers the shadows leave behind. So this is completely new for her.]

[ after very careful consideration, along with camilla's scarily calm stare, the little froggy decides it's best to let haru borrow camilla, albeit with supervision. ]

What a good boy you are. I know Lovely Haru will use this chance to win you over too, so keep an open mind, alright?

[ the little palai is still! miffed!!! but he'll live, since being killed by the one he loves isn't as cool as books make it sound. he grumbles and pouts in defeat.

camilla smiles up at haru. not the creepy kind of smile, mind you. ]

It looks like you've won him over. Well done, Haru. Now, I wonder what sort of game is in order. Hmm...

[ OH NO... now she feels bad. meat wasn't exactly abundant to the commoners in her kingdom, so the thought of saying such a thing to a person in that position makes her no better than the other crapsack nobles who look down on the rest of the citizens.

but!! her advice comes from a place of love and preventing unwanted horfing. she gives the poor little bean a sympathetic smile, her tone softening somewhat. ]

I see... Forgive my insolence. I was simply hoping to steer you away from gorging on so much of it at once. Otherwise, you may hurt your stomach, among other things. How about this? You eat the vegetables that complement the meat?

[Jake isn't aware she feels bad, because sometimes he misses those cues. But he does, at least, recognise that she's trying to be helpful and it isn't a bad idea anyway.]

All right! Um, do you know what goes best with this kind? [He's honestly pretty curious.] My tastebuds aren't too refined to figure that out on my lonesome.

[ camilla knew he would ask; she's the farthest thing from a chef since being a princess meant someone taking care of meals for you, and even in the deeprealm of corrin's castle, she avoided the kitchen when possible. thankfully, if it was just pointing out food she was fond of, she could manage that much. ]

I'm no chef myself, but my personal recommendation will always be root vegetables, but especially potatoes. They're a bit heavy, especially with meat, so you might find yourself wanting to fall asleep right after, but I promise they're worth it.

[ she's already skewering little potatoes, and brussel sprouts and, as promised, chunks of meat, onto a skewer. ]

You're kidding, right? What's the point if it's just vegetables!

Now now, I did say some meat is fine, but too much of such rich protein will give you a stomach ache. You don't want that, do you?

[He shrugs.] Fine with me as long as the food's good. How bad could it be?

As delicious as it is, I doubt you're keen on the idea of tasting it twice when you become sick later. If you absolutely must, at least make sure you lay on your back when you sleep.
