There's no official OOC account for the Palai people. You're free to roleplay their actions and reactions on your own, as in depth as you want -- asking questions, hand-waved interactions, becoming best friends. The new world is your oyster!

For decades, the Palai have had to deal with the threat of the Uvi invading their homes, killing their families and returning 30 days later. After the coven found their way to Aimintas, the Palai found that the threat wasn't so...threatening. After the last attack, with many more Palai lost as compared to previous Uvi instances, some Palai had lost hope. Now, after seeing their nemesis blown to bits and falling out of the ocean, their faith in safety is restored. While the Uvi are still committed (by and large) to learning more about barriers and other forms of safety, the time for focusing on serious things has passed. It will return, but tonight? They celebrate. Unlike their last, shrimpy festival, this party has a lot more going for it. The Palai have had time to process the events and prepare themselves for a grand celebration. The Palai know how to party, but you ain't seen nothin' like this. A ▢ As a birthday tradition, the Palai give the birthday lizard a special concoction. It contains Elto energy and a combination of found herbs that can easily be located in Aimintas. When these herbs are combined with the Elto energy, they create a sort of...hallucinogenic experience. It's supposed to feel extremely relaxing and give the Palai pleasant visions, but in human bodies it's essentially just getting high. There are vials of these being passed around like candy, so don't worry about anyone running out. B ▢ Despite the adults getting lit, there are obviously a lot of baby Palai on the lose. Responsible coven members who have their own babies will have the ability to let them run wild and play with their lizardy cousins. If you want to spend time with your baby, the nursery caretakers have platters of crackers with mushy foods adorning them -- these are essentially candy to a tiny Palai. They may also be tempted by other foods present at the festivities, but you can avoid them getting a tummy ache if you have a watchful eye. C ▢ Speaking of food, there certainly is a lot of it. There are large grills being heated by the newly found bone structures. These hold shrimp and fish, grilled vegetable skewers and other foods. Instead of the Palai doing the serving, the coven members and other Palai are instead encouraged to utilize their own raw ingredients (which includes several large sharks, dolphins, etc.) in whatever fashion they choose. It's essentially a "build-your-own-kabob" station with no limits. D ▢ Because the party is lasting on into the night, some Elto have decided to light the marketplace with some of the bone structures they found by powering them and inserting them into small cloth bags that they then magically levitate around. While they provide a powerful light source that can increase the party's longevity, they're also floating live wires. Bump into one of these and you'll get a nasty shock! This is doubly concerning since Palai babies are fascinated by following these floating "toys." E ▢ The Palai, feeling more familial and supportive of their ideals than ever, haven't let go of the whole family/romance pushing on the coven. Their newest attempt is a bit of a prank (probably due to high Palais) who have taken magic bone structures and tied thick strings to the spines that poke out of them. At the end of these strings are loops that they're quickly slipping around the wrists of coven members they find. You may find that you're suddenly magically connected to someone -- or two other people if you're lucky enough -- by a magical thread that's VERY hard to slip out of or break. [ he repeats her, tone oddly blank. the effects of the vial seeping into his system, he suddenly isn't worried or panicked. if anything, he's just glad it's haru he's stuck with. ]

Should we... uh...

[ his brain isn't. working. at the moment. should we what? he doesn't know. ]

Sorry. I'm running sort of low on ideas. Feeling a little dizzy...

[ his poor little head starts to droop. ]

Mm, I don't really know what we should do.

[She's honest about that, and fairly upfront as soon as she figures that they can't get loose any time soon. Sucks to be them but what else can they even do about it really.]

The world is kind of spinning right now, isn't it?

[Have they been sitting down the whole time? Because if not Haru is going to find somewhere to take a seat.]

[ they haven't, and as soon as haru sits, jude slides in next to her, side to side, and rests his head on his shoulder, glancing at her through hooded eyes. ]

[ his hand reaches up to thread through her hair. just once. ]

It's as soft as it looks.

[ oh no he just realized how rude that was. oh no. please understand, haru... ]

Th-That wasn't an insult! It was a compliment! Sheep are nice. Sheep are cute. Fluffy.

[Okay so she needs a moment process what just happened? First they sat down, then Jude looked at her, and then.... he threaded a hand through her hair?


Okay, okay. Maybe she's got this. She's going to just give him A Look at first. The expression a little unreadable? Like she can't really decide how she feels.]

[Normally she feels like she might be a little offended? But he did warn before he did that and she can't really say that it didn't feel just a little bit nice. She found herself sort of leaning closer before he pulled his hand away.

And she smiles finally. Hopefully relieving Jude of any worries that he may have upset her.]

I never thought it was an insult.

[ jude breathes out a sigh of relief. as far gone as he is, he's sober enough to know that casually running your fingers through your friend's hair isn't exactly the pinnacle of proper manners. ]

I'm glad.

[ his smile is genuine, but more dizziness hits him like a wave and he sways until he's leaning into haru's side. ]

I have a feeling this is all going to be pretty embarrassing once we sober up, but for now...

[ for now, he's perfectly content. like being threaded to haru of all people is a blessing rather than a curse. ]

[What were proper manners even? At this point Haru almost finds it hilarious that every time she runs into Jude it's something different. Will they ever get to have a proper tea party at this rate?

She's fine with this though, it's fine. Jude is a good person and she can trust him. She knows he wouldn't dare to embarrass himself or her.]

We're going to be so embarrassed.

[If his head is still on her shoulder, she's going to return the favor. Running a hand through his hair. Maybe even just continuing to do so, giving him the most kind and gentle hair pets a girl can manage.]

It's fine.

Feels nice.

[ jude can feel his shoulders sinking in relaxation. he almost wants to seek out more of the stuff, but something tells him he's had just enough. probably more than what could be considered remotely appropriate. ]

... Haru, you're a comforting person. A good person. There's just. Something about your presence that's so soothing.

[ he sort of nuzzles into her touch. encouraging. ]

[Her cheeks get a touch more pink on them than before. Jude should really be careful with how much praise he's using here or she might turn red.]

You say that like you aren't the same. I feel at ease when you're around. It's strange... we've only recently met and I would consider you someone to trust.

[Haru's trust is hard to gain. Though trusting is easier than it was before, she still considers herself someone who can be overly cautious at times.

Also did he want more hair pets? He's getting more hair pets.]

[ jude always wants more hair pets. especially at the moment. ]

I'm a trusting person by nature, but regardless, I can't help but feel the same. There's just... something special about you. Something that makes you stand out.

[ he closes his eyes and sighs, letting haru stroke his hair and leaning further against her until his flushed cheek is touching her delicate shoulder. ]

When you open that cafe, I'll be one of your first customers. How does that sound?

I suppose under the circumstances we're all under... it drives one to want to get to know who they are working with.

[She pauses for a moment, shifting to allow Jude a little closer and for her hair petting to continue. Haru is very diligent about these pets.]

But friendship is more important to me than just solely being comrades.

[Her cheeks are definitely still more blushing than they are flushed now, oh no.]

If we can find a way to make that happen, I would love it.

[talim]

We'll make it happen. I don't care how.

[ he rubs his cheek against her shoulder, burying a smile in her shirt. ]

It's a promise.

[ jude holds out his pinky, thread still tied to his wrist and all. ]

Do you think we could ask Qri if it would be possible...?

[Her pinky finger slips into his easily, and she's smiling again. Whatever the heck they've both consumed is making her giddy, and almost giggly. Relax they said, HAVE A GOOD TIME THEY SAID.

Yeah she's doing exactly that.]

It's worth a shot.

[ he's relaxed, sure, but he's so much more than that — affectionate, mostly. butterflies in his stomach. happiness spreading all through his chest. indescribably warm. he doesn't know where the effects end and where his feelings begin. ]

[Haru can say she feels the same. It's a comfortable feeling, really. How do you describe it? To her... it feels warm and safe. Like maybe this is something she wouldn't really mind anyways.]

Her assistants, we should ask them when we aren't like...this.

[She tugs a strand of Jude's hair, giggling.]

[talim]

[ jude giggles, too, right along with her; squirming, but not resisting at all. ]

That's a good idea. You're good at those. Ideas.

[ a short pause. ]

... I wonder how long this is going to last, anyway. Are you worried?

[mapsio]

I have ideas occasionally! Like right now.

[She soon returns to the Nice hair pets she was giving before. Still leaning on him as she hums thoughtfully.]

I would be more worried if I were attached to someone I didn't know. It would be incredibly more embarrassing to be feeling this way around a stranger.

[talim]

[ he almost asks feeling what way? but, well... he thinks he sort of gets it. ]

I feel the same. I'm sure things will work themselves out, but in the meantime, I'm glad it's you.

[mapsio]

[She wouldn't want to be caught higher than a kite by too many other people. So Jude is lucky she didn't freak out instead of just sitting here. BASICALLY.]

I'm glad it's you as well.

[She relaxes even further, sighing quietly.]

Jude-kun? We don't have to move do we? I don't...really feel like it.

[talim]

No. We don't.

[ as a matter of fact, he's feeling rather... sleepy. he's just so comfortable. he doesn't even realize that his eyes have fluttered closed. how did that happen? ]

Maybe we can just... rest for a little while.

[mapsio]

We could take a nap?

[Haru doesn't even realize what she is suggesting here? But shhh, only leaning on Jude and closing her eyes too. Maybe just a moment. They don't need to nap for long? Maybe they could just rest their eyes and everything would be fine.]

[talim]

Mm.

[ it's the only reply he can muster. that... sounds good to him.

sure enough, it doesn't take long before he's sleeping soundly against haru's shoulder, side to side. ]

[Sure, sure. Haru finds herself dozing off as well. How long do they sleep at this celebration? Do the Palai find success in Jude and Haru napping on each other? Probably. They honestly think they did a Good here.

Either way, Haru is nice and comfortable and won't stand to be disturbed for as long as they decide to rest.]
