[It's about noon on the island, based on the position of the sun. The newbies have had a few days to settle in, but that doesn't mean they've fully mastered their newfound abilities.

As much stock as Genette puts into telepathy, Brie is more concerned about their other newfound gifts. She's aggressively tried to wrangle as many newbies as possible onto the sandy shores of the beachfront area for some magic practice.

She's got a list of everyone's magic -- only a few vague notes, limitations are for you to discover -- and she's handing out missions for magic training. If you want to participate? Feel free. If you don't? Suit yourself.

But understanding your magic isn't just an activity that benefits the group. Learning your magic's abilities may be what stands between you and survival, which is something she makes perfectly clear.]

[So she needs to heal people as part of her training. But... first people need to be injured in order to get healed right? In that case, she's going to approach some people and just go:]

Hey, so is it ok if I punch you? Asking for a friend. [A beat.] Actually I'm asking for myself.

[Ok well aside from injuring the people herself, she's going to just check around to see if anyone needs healing in general?]

Well, I need to heal people for my training. But if no one is injured, then healing them doesn't do anything! So either you're already injured, or I have to make you injured!

Of course I'll heal you right after.

[ DAVE WILL JUST UNSHEATHE HIS SWORD AND SLICE OPEN HIS RIGHT PALM, and then hold it out to her. ]

Isn't this kinda better to heal, though? What the fuck would you heal with a punch, a vague sense of "ow"?

A bruise. A busted lip. Maybe a broken nose.

[if dave gets the feeling he lucked out taking this route, he definitely did.]

...Well, now I got a cut for you to heal, if you still wanted to practice?

[ YEAH NO HE'S FINE WITH HIS ROUTE ]

Well, you did cut it up just for me. It's the least I could do.

[She rummages through the bag she brought along and pulls out a bottle of water. Without request or warning, she opens it up and pours a little bit over the hand. A few seconds later the water begins to glow, working on sealing the cut should he take a look at the process. All the while it provides a cool feeling to the cut.]

Give it a minute to work through the sealing process. Unfortunately this is the fastest it can go.

[Tamaki raises an eyebrow at the sudden question, before crouching in what he thinks is a fighting stance.]

Y-you wanna fight!?

[This girl looks huge and he is actually pretty sure he couldn't take her (he couldn't).]

[She pauses for a moment and then gets into a stance of her own.]

Do you?! I don't want to, but if you do I'll oblige.

No! I don't! [Though he doesn't actually straighten up.] Why do you want to punch me!? That's scary!

[He's also pretty sure that's a prelude to fighting.]

Oh, well, I want to punch you because I need to practice healing. However, I can't heal someone who isn't injured!

Healing...?

[A big, scary person like this has healing magic? Tamaki actually straightens back up in surprise.]

Why don't you just prick someone's finger or something like that...?

That's too small. I want to experiment my magic on something more than just a prick. [what's the point of healing a small wound that'd just heal up in a day?] If you're scared of getting punched, I won't hit you. I'm not so cruel.

[he looks kind of roughed up but not visibly injured at this point . . . his eyebrows go up]

I'm going to guess, since you asked first, that this is for a really good reason?

Correct! It's part of my training for my healing magic. Once I hurt you, I can heal you. Simple.

This is some really hands-on training we've got going here. But, sure, all in a good cause.

[liveinskin]

Great. [She balls up a hand into a fist.] Now, is there any place you don't prefer I hit you? I'll avoid any sensitive areas that you don't want damaged if you tell me so now.

[eh, well. mulls it over for just a moment, thinking back over past fights, and then shrugs]

Just not in the face or the gut and we'll be fine.

Gotcha.

[And without warning she instead aims for his right arm just below the shoulder! It's not a hard hit, but absolutely not soft either. She can't throw a punch if she plans to heal him.]

[he doesn't flinch from the blow, though he does rock back with the force of it some, wincing a little visibly; he can take a punch fine, but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt.]

--oof. Okay--good hit.

Oops. Sorry if I went too hard on you. [she only doesn't feel bad about hurting people if they're assholes.] Ok this next part involves water. You don't hate water, right?
