Okay.

[If he sounds a little nervous, well. This sort of thing is scarier than fighting any day. Still, he dashes to grab the first aid kit and sets it down between the makeshift beds.]

Just tell me what to do.

[talim]

[ al can handle the unconscious palai. jude will take over the bleeding one. should be easier on alphonse that way. ]

There should be a couple of clean bottles of water in there. Hand me one, take the other, and use the washcloth in there to carefully wipe down any dirt and blood. After that, there should be disinfectant and cotton swabs. The next step is making sure the open wounds don't get infected.

[ jude sets to work on his own patient, casting healer before anything else. using spirit artes makes the process a lot more painless, and with the palai still conscious, jude would like to dull the pain as much as possible before he sets to work with the first aid. ]

[alphonse]

[Okay, this much he can handle. Al kneels down and passes Jude one of the water bottles before carefully moving to tend to the unconscious Lyna. She's pretty banged up, but luckily none of the wounds are severe enough to require stitches. Cleaning them is a simple enough matter, and Al's hoping the way she stirs as he disinfects the worst of them is a positive sign.]

None of the cuts look that deep.

[Which is more than he can say for the one Jude's working on. Focused as he is on his task, he can't help sparing a few worried glances their way. And a curious one at Jude's magic. That's definitely on the list of things to ask about later.]

[talim]

That's a relief... I think this one is a little more worse for the wear, but he'll pull through. Just need to get him bandaged up properly.

[ the white light glowing at his fingertips gradually dies down until there's nothing more than small sparkles, jude releasing a tired sigh. using so much mana has been draining, to say the least.

he glances over to the palai under al's care and offers him a nod of approval. ]

Good work. Now that the cuts are clean, you can go ahead and start wrapping them up in gauze. There's more than enough.

[alphonse]

[Al bandages his patient's wounds as gently as he can manage, then sits back to watch Jude work. He doesn't know enough about magic to be sure how harmful using too much of it might be, but it can't be healthy for a mere two healers to be shouldering this much of the burden alone. Once Jude's done and finally has a moment to breathe, Al gives him an appraising look.]

Are you okay?

[talim]

... What makes you think I'm not? I'm fine.

[ he keeps as straight a face as possible. it's not much of an answer, though, is it. ]

[alphonse]

You're right, it was a dumb question.

[Very calmly, he fetches another water bottle and screws off the cap before handing it to Jude. Doctors need to stay hydrated too.]

You and Madoka are trying to heal a city's worth of people all by yourselves. There's no way you're okay.

[talim]

I never said it was—

[ oh. so that's what he's getting at. jude sighs, weary, and reaches out to accept the water with a tired, grateful smile. ]

... As much as I'd like to disagree with you, I am feeling sort of drained.

[ "sort of" is an understatement. ]

But I'll be back on my feet in no time. There's no need to worry about me.

[alphonse]

[Al doesn't need facial expressions to give Jude a look at the irony of being told not to worry about him, but he holds back on arguing the point.]

I know there's not a lot the rest of us can do here right now. [Only Madoka had the right idea, choosing to train when she did.] But if there's anything we can do to make this easier on you, you just have to say so, okay?

[talim]

[ that's just how jude is! always has been, always will be. ]

Has anyone ever told you that you're pretty stubborn when you want to be?

[ it's spoken with a small smile. honesty, as against stopping to rest as he is, he's appreciative that al is looking after his well-being. ]

Thank you, Alphonse. I'm glad to have you here with us.

[alphonse]

I think you've got me beat.

[Like being gracious instead of actually asking for anything. Al recognizes an argument he's not going to win when he sees one, but maybe there's room for at least a temporary compromise. This window between emergencies won't likely last for long.]

There's nothing to thank me for. [He gets to his feet, patting Jude on the shoulder as he walks by.] I'll keep an eye on things out front for a few minutes so you can watch her.

[He glances at the unconscious Palai, who appears to be resting more peacefully now and almost certainly doesn't need the attention.]

[ the pat is a heavy one, the weight of it not lost on him, but jude can feel the kindness and reassurance behind it.

al is a curious person, but he's quite fond of him. ]
