[There's a small crowd gathering at the edge of the city today. You may have been asked here by Jay or someone else, or gotten a telepathic message--or maybe you just came out to see what all the fuss was about. Either way, if you listen in it soon becomes obvious that members of the coven are heading up to the island above to check it out, and maybe do something about that pesky barrier in the way, too.

There are a couple dragons among the crowd--although you may or may not be able to see one of them--and what looks like a small submarine. Jay is wandering among these, seemingly checking that everything is in order and everyone who's supposed to be there is.]

Is your power hearing the opposite of what someone tells you? What part of 'nasty shock' was not understandable?

[this is alarming! he's alarmed! ...he skids to a stop before he slaps both himself and Minato into the barrier again, though, so there's that]

I understood 'shock.'

[ Nasty doesn't matter; that's why he wanted to confirm the ability to heal, first. All the proper precautions were taken, aside from Vern reaching forward to stop him. So before that happens again, Minato sort of steps forward away from the barrier and tries to goad Vern to backing away without actually touching him. ]

Are you immune to it? Are you secretly made of stone.

[HE IS...BACKING OFF A LITTLE, SINCE MINATO ISN'T FREAKING OUT BACK AT HIM...but still a bit rattled]

The one made of stone blocks fire.

[ ??? More importantly, though ]

But yes, I should be immune to electricity. If this is electricity. Dirk wasn't sure it would be that, entirely.

[dramatically throws up his hands and takes a bigger step back, leaving his way free and clear]

What do you mean, it blocks fire -- no, that's not the important part. Please say the immune thing first. Please say that first next time. I thought I was going to see you go up in smoke!

Okay.

[ He promises to say it first next time, but there is no next time and so his promise doesn't really hold much weight... Minato's more sorry about the concern that Vern extends, the thought of somebody forced to watch him get electrocuted never crossing his mind because he doesn't meant to get electrocuted. ]

I'm immune, so... [ He points a finger at the barrier ] If it's not electricity, please don't let me die.

No pressure or anything.

[he hesitates visibly, then folds his arms across his skinny chest and nods once, sharp]
