[pre-jailbreak open log]
Who: Everyone!
Where: Various locations around Shehui
When: Days 215-218, roughly
Open/Closed: ota! closed/semi-closed toplevels in comments.
[It's been a quiet few days in Shehui. Life is going on, despite the detention of the Chosen 12--Yeunai is approaching, and there's something about an app called Bondr. Are you being tempted by the Antima trials? Shopping for Yeunai cards to give to your friends? Or is the toll of not knowing where some of your friends and fellow coven members are getting to you?
As for that, the plan to rescue the Chosen 12 from the building where they're being held is ticking along too. There are hushed meetings and telepathic conversations taking place in the apartment building daily--hopefully no one is bugging them, or maybe the planning squad has found a way to deal with that? Members of the coven as a whole have been informed that a rescue operation is ongoing (and ones who were paying careful attention early on will have more details), and to stay close to the outskirts of the city on Day 218. They've also been given the location of a temporary safe area on the edge of the city. The upshot is: prepare to be wanted, and to escape, when all this goes down in a few days.
If you're actually a part of the rescue plan, there are briefings on your role and duties going on the lower floors of the apartment, in the space Geir once inhabited. Even if you're not, there are still things that need to be done: supplies that need to be bought and discreetly moved to the temporary safe location, for one. Everyone has been asked to help with this.
And then, of course, there are the prisoners and the planning squad. How is everyone holding up? Are the interrogations getting worse? Are plans taking shape? How will you spend these last few days in the calm before the storm?]

One of us can get you inside and be in position ourselves for our part of the plan.
[He crosses his arms over his chest and studies the two spots.] Do you need any supplies that will help you? We still have time to get them.
no subject
[Waver pauses to think about supplies. In theory, he needs nothing. The smoke is magic.]
Something pointy in case I get snuck up on once the plan's in action.
no subject
Will this work? Might be a bit heavy. We'll find something else if it doesn't.
[How early should they bring Waver in? Too early and they risk their hand being exposed.]
In your opinion, how early do you feel you need to be to get into position? [He has ideas but it never hurts to ask.]
no subject
That'll do.
[Never mind that he has no idea how to use it. Waver can lie through his teeth on that point and no one will ever figure it out.]
Half an hour? Maybe an hour if we want to hedge bets? I can wait, and I can look below to be given a signal to start covering the escape.
no subject
[He could scout the buildings out at night but he'd have to stick to gliding silently between buildings and that risks being seen. Shiro decides against it.]
We can move it up if we hear anything to suggest we need to. If you need back up when things get started, let us know and whoever will break off to help you.
Your life is more important to us than a clean get away.
no subject
[At the rest, Waver is quiet. It feels a little hollow, if only because mages are supposed to be fine with death in all forms. But he shrugs it off and focuses on the important stuff.]
It'll be fine.
no subject
[But his eyes narrow when he looks at the map. He is preparing as if they’re in a war zone. He knows he’s doing it that way. But it’s a habit he refuses to break.]
Anything else you feel needs done? [He pauses, adding.] Are you sure a dagger will be enough?
no subject
[Wait.]
I'll need to know when it's safe to leave the area, as I'm going to need a time delay for an exit.
no subject
[Little does he know what will happen in the future.]
It’s true this can change minute by minute. That’s why we’re covering what possibilities we can right now.
no subject
[Waver finally picks his eyes up off the map, and looks at Shiro directly. In many ways, the map was easier to look at, especially when discussing putting his survival in the hands of others.]
At the moment, I can't think of anymore angles from my perspective.
no subject
I can’t think of many from my perspective either. I’ll be able to glance down at you in between baiting the defenses to turn on me. We’ll all be looking out and I think we can keep the fighting away from you.
Other than that I think we’ve covered it. As long as we monitor this situation we can adapt if they up security. Juat in case. If you need to move mid-battle.
Other than these two buildings, [He taps a small building a bit behind the right side best vantage point.] Relocate here. Your line of sight will be cut by half, but it’s a decent fall back point.
no subject
[But no, Shiro's right. Having that is a good idea.]
Since your vantage point will be different from mine, I'm also going to need you to let me know if there's any areas that need more cover from me and...[He pauses, squinting.] How exactly are you going to be airborne?
no subject
[He probably does. Shiro offers up a mental image of his lion form and continues,]
Those wings aren't just for show. I can move pretty fast in the air. I'll keep you posted on what areas need more cover.
I could also come pick you up when we're ready to pull out.
no subject
Is that form safe to ride though? Or is this a "we're going to find out" situation?
no subject
[He can't blame him for not noticing the wings. A metal lion isn't the usual thing you expect to find in a dark alley.]
It's doable.
no subject
So it has to be this.]
Then I'll see you when I clear the smoke.
no subject
[Shiro nods in turn and taps the building Waver will hole up in. He’ll go back over this area on foot on his way to somewhere else to make it look like he was just on an errand.]
Just make sure to test the dagger to get used to the weight balance. Hopefully and if we do our job effectively, you won’t have to use it.
no subject
[That's what magecraft is for, of course!]
...Thanks.
no subject
[Or was it peaceful? Hard to say unless he’s told.]
no subject
[It's not less violent. It's just a completely different way of fighting, and Waver wasn't good at it either.]
no subject
When this is over if you want to continue to use daggers I’m sure one of us would be willing to teach you. Or any other weapon you might think of using.
no subject
[He isn't keen to actually use anything, even though it's practical. Regardless, Waver's not going to focus on that, not right now.]
