[It's been a quiet few days in Shehui. Life is going on, despite the detention of the Chosen 12--Yeunai is approaching, and there's something about an app called Bondr. Are you being tempted by the Antima trials? Shopping for Yeunai cards to give to your friends? Or is the toll of not knowing where some of your friends and fellow coven members are getting to you?

As for that, the plan to rescue the Chosen 12 from the building where they're being held is ticking along too. There are hushed meetings and telepathic conversations taking place in the apartment building daily--hopefully no one is bugging them, or maybe the planning squad has found a way to deal with that? Members of the coven as a whole have been informed that a rescue operation is ongoing (and ones who were paying careful attention early on will have more details), and to stay close to the outskirts of the city on Day 218. They've also been given the location of a temporary safe area on the edge of the city. The upshot is: prepare to be wanted, and to escape, when all this goes down in a few days.

If you're actually a part of the rescue plan, there are briefings on your role and duties going on the lower floors of the apartment, in the space Geir once inhabited. Even if you're not, there are still things that need to be done: supplies that need to be bought and discreetly moved to the temporary safe location, for one. Everyone has been asked to help with this.

And then, of course, there are the prisoners and the planning squad. How is everyone holding up? Are the interrogations getting worse? Are plans taking shape? How will you spend these last few days in the calm before the storm?]

[As was said above, everyone has been given a temporary safe location on the outskirts of the city, in one of the forested areas, and been asked to help buy supplies and bring them (discreetly!) to the area.

Food, water, weapons, medical supplies--all these things need to be accounted for. Are you one of the shoppers or gophers? Have an idea on how to organize this effort? Feel free to improvise a bit; the planning squad is mostly leaving this area to others. This section can also be used if people want to talk about the plan among themselves, or ask questions.]

[ there's a variety of medical supplies, ranging from gauze to anesthetic to antiseptic to stitching kits — adjacent to it appears to be a collection of...

bullet proof wear. looks like someone is making use of their credits. ]

Shehui's practices are modern; this extends to their weaponry. We're more likely to be confronted with guns rather than swords.

I need everyone to equip these when the time comes — nonhumans included.

[ Amanda lets out a whistle. She's been grabbing pretty basic food and water and stuff when she can - and grumbling that this would be a lot easier if she was flying, thanks miss broken record. ]

That sucks. I know how to point the shooty end at someone but...

[ A short, shaky laugh belies a little nervousness. Having time to think about what they're doing is the worst. ]

I know where I stand with swords.

[ he shoots her a raise of the brow — before tossing a pistol, specifically the one he uses on duty, in her direction. ]

Swords are ideal — I'm partial to them myself.

[ he leans against the table, tipping his head towards the pistol. ]

But you can always learn.

[She's trying on one of the vests, though, turning around to see how it feels.]

[The first level of the apartment, once occupied by Geir, is now being used to host elements of the rescue team: there's one group for the infiltration team, one group for the decoy team, both clustered around a rough map of the area they're targeting.

Roy, Percival, Dirk, Jay, and 9S are there, along with Vern, standing grumpily off to one side. He is still living here, after all.

[It's a valid question, but Jay continues to not be in the mood for this. He raises one eyebrow.]

That depends on what you mean. We can't plan for every possible way this could go wrong.

What if we can't actually get inside?

Amazing. Harley may not appreciate more extreme temperature changes, but it's a solid idea.

[Waver's mostly looking at the map that has been spread out, frowning as he looks at all the possible get-away areas. He's on duty as a decoy not to wreck anything, but to provide escape cover for everyone else.

So that means finding spots with a good vantage point, and somewhere where he's less likely to be seen. With a frown, he taps a particular area with his finger.]

Hm. All of the places available have blindspots....[Not good.] Which means determining the one least likely to be used by the actual authorities.

[Now that the dust has settled Shiro joins Waver at the map. He peers at it for a few moments and nods.] They’ll be covering street level and anything a security camera can reach on the outside. Above they’re likely relying on Helicopters to see what street level security can’t.

Maybe you could position yourself in a building by a window? [If they had time and he had a way to hide his metal form he would scout from above but they don’t have either of those.]

[Waver considers the suggestion, and points to two potential buildings whose corners might offer the best sight lines. It works on the assumption that those two areas have windows, and frankly, that feels like a big assumption.]

I would need building access though, and in all likelihood, to arrive earlier as not to tip our hand.

THE PLANNING SQUAD (semi-open)

[Before and after the briefing, Percival, 9S, Roy, Jay, and Dirk, along with a few others at varying times, can be found in Jay's apartment, going over various elements of the plan. The apartment's not closed, and in fact anyone is welcome to stop by if they have something to report on or questions to ask, although you may find that conversation hushes to a stop when you knock on the door.]

[Jay is settled around the kitchen table, studying the map someone made of the area around the prisoners' location. He has his notebook open, but appears to be leafing through it rather than writing things down.]

What's the latest news?

We need a means of housing the coven after we've liberated the hostages.

[ he sets down a map, alongside a series of papers — they appear to be in regards to the housing market. ]

They'll want everyone's head on a pike, at any rate. I intended on investing in a residency once I had the means. Alternatively, three small caches.

Well, I do — I have for some time.

It's an idea. One that requires the detachment of my name, that is.

THE PRISON / CHOSEN 12 (locationally locked/telepathy ota)

[So, about those interrogations . . . . ]

[there's a furious psychic roar from "downstairs," just a few hours before the planned intervention; Geir's voice comes after it, angry and scared and full of vitality. at least whatever the monitors have been doing to him hasn't appeared to weaken him any.

How long till you're down here?!

[a sense of movement just barely in check comes with the message. there's a snag in the plan, or at least a reason to make sure it goes off perfectly, and soon.]

[Jay received a message from Madoka as well, and has been on edge about it, but not knowing t hat she and Geir are close isn't connecting it to this outburst.]

We'll be there in four hours. What's going on?

[Testing has been going on for over a week now, and it's taking its toll on everyone.

Shirley, for her part, has been doing her best to play the part of hardened Merines. It's been easy to summon up old rage and turn it into silence and quiet refusal. In response the monitors and the guards use more force than necessary when handling her, but with a hardened heart none of it hurts more than being in Crusand's hands did. Or at least, not emotionally.

Physically she's had a much rougher time of it, and while she's too stubborn to let up her mask during interrogations or testing she doesn't have the stamina to keep it up forever. As soon as she's returned to her and the other girls' cell she just about flops on the bed, sitting down and falling on her back with the grace of a log. She tries to address the other girls, but it takes a moment to find the words.]

After all this time, I still wonder what they intend to do with us in the end.

[Haru has probably been laying on her side on this bed for hours. They brought her back as they took Shirley, at least...that is what she remembers. She knows that sleeping is nigh impossible in this place. So she ends up sitting up as Shirley flops down on their bed.

Haru had been keeping a positive outlook this whole time, and today's testing... it feels like she's finally lost steam.]

I wish we knew. It feels like they're going to test on us until we drop.

[And maybe they are. They just...don't know.]

[Of course, as we said, life goes on, even with all this furious planning taking place. Shehui is still there and buzzing, with preparations for Yeunai and chatter about something called Bondr. Are you looking for a distraction, or just unconcerned with it all?]
