[ Something seems different about today...you feel it when you wake up if you're of the sorts who happen to have a good gut instinct. You don't have to wait around long for the news of the day to confirm this anxiety in your chest. In fact, it may only intensify if you happen to be looking at your ID card when the announcement comes in.

On your ID's text scroller, a message comes through with a loud, blaring beeping:

The following Shehui residents have been requested for an audience with officials. If you know of their location, please tell them as such and maintain their location as much as possible. (The list, though, contains last names OR the name they offered at their Shehui introductory meeting.)

If you're in your apartment and happen to be on that list, you'll find that your door is locked from the inside suddenly. You and your buddies aren't going in there until a monitor comes by. For those out and about, you may be able to hide for a while if you're in a crowd of folks who don't know who you are. However, any and all news or screens will begin offering photos of those on the list as the day continues. That might get you some interesting looks.

That being said, you have options -- giving in and surrendering is only one of the choices you can make.

pre- or just after the announcement: Want to react to this sudden discovery that you're quite possibly a wanted criminal? Go right ahead! Maybe this is where you begin to plot your life on the lam. Maybe, maybe you have a mental break down. Maybe, maybe, maybe you just need some advice about what to do. Who knows!

running: Life on the lam is entirely possible, and even though it might not last, you can definitely make a break for it. If you have magic that can help you...why not use it? What do you have to lose? However, know that monitors will be looking for you far and wide. You thought there were a lot of monitors hanging around the city before? Think again, now. There are some pretty good places to hide, like in the woods of the more rural areas, but be warned -- that doesn't mean the monitors won't come for you there, either.

fighting: Maybe you're more proactive in your denial. You don't want to go anywhere with these monitors, and they're closing in...instead of surrendering, it's time to battle! Magic will do you well in this scenario, but monitors do have weapons and tools they can use to try and combat your fighting spirit. These include stun guns, energized-batons and a gun-like device that shoots out magnetized clamps designed to grab at arms, legs...even your neck. Trying to cut through these is also very hard, and once the gun is attached to you? It's also electrical in nature. You'll get a pretty good zap if you don't comply.

capture: So that's it. You've been caught. What does that mean for your future in Shehui? It's hard to say -- but it is for certain that you aren't simply being interrogated in your apartment this time. The monitors lead you to their underground doorway, opening it and bringing you inside. What you find is a totally different building that looks very ornate yet official -- this is the home of the Shehui government. The hallway you're led through is long, and your restraints tighten before your feet are clasped together with a device that's similar to the clamps the monitor's gun spat out. There are hundreds of monitors looking to stun or even shoot you now that you're away from the public. Escape is seemingly impossible...at least for now.

From there, monitors will take you to a holding room that lies at the furthest end of the last hallway you're taken to. It's not that bad for being what is essentially a jail cell -- there's an enclosed restroom, sizable bed and mini fridge. A table, a television built into the side of the wall...and a sign on the wall that lists up to three different names. Even though there's one bed, that doesn't mean you'll be utilizing it on your own:

-- Geir (his own, larger cell -- though it's outfitted with larger amenities)
-- Riza, Jade, Ruby
-- Jusis, Noctis, Julius
-- Madoka, Shirley, Haru
-- Orga, Akechi

The first day, everything is quite quiet. A monitor brings you food, carefully making sure that you can't escape through the door...since they're sliding it through a tiny slit, it might be very hard to squeeze through. That's where you're at right now...Today is day one, and who knows what the next day will bring.

[SPECIFIC NOTE: For large creatures, i.e. Geir's big dragon ass, the monitors are going to be using helicopters and larger versions of their regular weapons. They'll be very cautious in trying not to injure Geir -- more than they would be when it comes to the average coven member -- because potentially felling him from the sky can lead to casualties. If he is captured, the underground door will grow to accommodate him, and there is a larger holding area for bigger creatures. Hallways, however, will be a tight squeeze.]

telepathy: Telepathy can be utilized at any time during your long, hard day, but it may be beneficial to attempt to use it while you're locked up underground. Those who hear your mental feed will find that whatever signal you're trying to send is very faint -- for instance, sending text, the letters will be less than opaque. Voices will be softer and potentially static-y, as well as video transmissions.

In general, citizens of Shehui will take a pretty standard approach to coven members who are on the circulated list. They won't get directly involved with the chase; there won't be many citizens who will put a coven member in a headlock and directly involve themselves. However, they will shout, point at and follow coven members who they know are on the list in an attempt to help the monitors. However, you do have the freedom to create non-standard reactions from Shehui residents. You can say they feel some sympathy, or maybe they're even more violent than the average person!

[ riza isn't given much of an answer before another monitor shuffles in with someone else. she's on the small side, but both of her hands are behind held behind her back, and the expression on the girl's face is a very particular type of anger. with wild dark hair almost as long as she is tall and a pair of furry, white dog ears on her head, this girl looks more than a little bit feral. there's a strip of dark duct tape over her mouth, and the guard moving her into the cell bears battle wounds in the form of torn fabric.

when jade's deposited into the cell, she's quickly turned around, the tape pulled off in one smooth movement and the reason for the tape becomes clear when she snaps her jaws at the guard. she's pushed back, her restraints are removed and she's left to the cell with riza.

jade doesn't say anything for a moment. there is a stripe of dirt across her cheek and her sleeve is rolled up to the elbow. it's clear she's already had a blood panel done, then.

on the floor, jade collects herself, shoulders shaking, knees slowly bending. her arm rises and she wipes her face with her sleeve, smearing dirt further. eventually, she looks to the blond woman with a tentative glance. she makes no move toward the guard that riza's with, but she does try to sit on the bed. ]

Oof. Um.

[ ...awkward. ] They are really like flies...

[ riza isn't given an answer at all, as the new occupant is shuffled in and then - a moment later - the guard standing with her leaves as well. it leaves riza and jade, alone, in the room - the show of the girl and her apparent attempts at altercation catching most of riza's attention before she looks over to where jade is sitting on the bed, giving a small, polite smile. ]

Jade, I'm assuming? [ she'd heard of her from roy. told that she should reach out. this wasn't at all what she expected their first meeting to be, nowhere even close, but she is nothing if not adaptable.

riza takes a few steps back into the room, standing near the desk and what should have been a chair, where there was none. interesting. ] And...flies?

[ jade doesn't have a face to put to the name hawkeye. it's probably a plus of being someone who doesn't have dog features. jade pulls her legs away, leaning to the side to try and avoid looking too forward. body language-wise, it's probably too revealing of how open she's feeling. but... ]

There is a lot of them and they are unwelcome where they are not wanted.

[ so they're flies. ]

[ well...there's that. and their names on the cell doors outside. but riza knows jade more from roy than anyone, but that can be a different discussion, if she wanted to have it. still, riza watches her - seeing her body language and tucking it away for later. that, on top of the pulled up sleeve, the dirt, the look on jade's face when she arrived...

so she nods, tapping her finger to chin. ] That actually makes a lot of sense.

[ because it does. ]

I'm Riza, by the way.

[ a lightbulb seems to go off over jade's head. riza... ]

...You are the military lady the horse guy told me about?

[ right. that sounds right. she's collected and in control, exactly how you would expect someone who has been in high stress situations like being in the military and fighting in a war would be.

anyway, what's most important here is jade has already decided that roy mustang is "the horse guy" despite the fact he isn't a centaur at all. ]

[ yeah see that's the issue here because jade says horse guy and riza just...blinks. ]

Horse guy? [ because now she's curious. though after she asks, riza does nod. ] But yes, I do have military experience.

[ not that it matters!!!! casual, casual. ]

[ roy has a name and it's the name of a horse, so, being a furaffinity user -- look. there's a lot that goes on here and all of it goes back to jade liking fursonas. ]

Yes! His name was a horse and I think he was a General. I talked to him. He said we should meet because we both like guns. You're his right hand man! I mean, woman.

[ she doesn't know if she even wants to know. ]

O-okay. [ see, because general makes her think of roy (as it usually does), but the horse part is confusing.

except the more that jade talks, the more riza is having a hard time not thinking it's roy. ]

Are you talking about Roy Mustang? [ which. alright. actually. saying that she suddenly catches the horse connection. ] Because he also told me that you likes guns- or, rather, sharpshooting. That sound right?

[ jade smacks her fist into her palm - aha! that's it. ]

Roy Mustang! Yeah, he's the horse guy! He said that, yes, he did. Is there a difference between guns and sharpshooting? I mean, you need the former to do the latter anyway, I guess... But still! I like guns. My grandpa taught me how to use them.

Horse guy? [ even if she gets it, it's still...funny to her. horse guy. she'll have to tell the general that one. ]

And not technically. Sharpshooting is just a specification of how to use them. [ a beat, and then riza crosses her arms more out of ease than anything. ] Do you like all guns, then?

No! My favorite is rifles. I can do with anything in a pinch, though. Grandpa just taught me on his blunderbuss, so it's kiiiiiind of just the most familiar to me.

[ and she does mean anything. newspaper? a weapon in jade's hands. ]

If I had to guess, you use something easier to carry.

I don't think I've heard of a blunderbuss before.

[ they're similar in that way, then. though riza is almost always armed, so she usually doesn't have to worry about it. ]

I do like rifles, but I tend to keep pistols on me most often.

They are kind of silly looking. Used for short range but they have a large bore. So they kind of look like a rifle but are not. I guess.. a middle ground between pistol and rifle?

[ sort of. jade thinks she's explaining it well enough, but rifles are her favorite. ] Pistols are good for concealing on your body! Although the recoil is preeeeeeeeetty gnarly, dude.

A short range rifle? Interesting.

[ riza is honestly curious. honestly, actually, curious. not that this would be the time or place to get into something like that, but the point still stands. ]

And the recoil isn't too bad once you've gotten used to it. Surprising, if you're inexperienced, but easy enough to take into account when you're firing. Do you hunt? Or do you just like shooting?

I would never hurt an innocent animal! [ hunting is the worst. ]

Hmm. I guess it is just a nostalgic thing for me. My grandpa is not really with me anymore, and I think he was sharing something he enjoyed... But if I had to choose, I just like shooting. I can shoot blindfolded!

[ she smiles at the reaction. ]

That's a good reason to like shooting. I'm sure your Grandpa liked spending time shooting with you too.

[ and then, at that, riza's eyes do widen, impressed. ] Blindfolded? Shooting at a target, I'm guessing?

[ oh, actually. ]

I could ask him! We haven't had a chance to really talk about it much...

[ jake is, sort of, her grandfather, after all.

...thinking of jake makes her kind of sad, though. she wants to talk to him. ]

And...yeah. A target. Shooting that started the game. I did it really good!

You could ask him? How?

[ riza is........a little confused. and by a little, she means a lot. ]

Oh! [ blink blink. ] That's really impressive, actually.

[ she'll get back to the gun conversation in a moment. ]

My grandpa is here! Well, kind of. His younger self is. It was time and space shenanigans.

He is? [ she's still trying to wrap her head around the time and space shenanigans bit. the closest she got was about three years between her and alphonse and edwards, so the idea of....a younger version of someone's grandfather?

is a lot. ] Does he know who you are?

Yes. [ there's a pause. jade feels like riza is... not grasping this concept and responds hesitantly. ]

I am also his grandma!

[ maybe the white furry ears are... just gray hairs? hmm. ]

[ . . . . . . . .

riza blinks, and then smiles apologetically. ]

Sorry- you lost me. You are.....your grandfather's grandmother?

Like I said, time and space shenanigans. We restarted the universe and hopped over to the next one instead of getting rewritten ourselves! So he knows me as Grandma and I know him as Grandpa. Our roles reversed. It isn't toooooooooo complicated.

No. Of course not.

[ sorry jade. she just. isn't going to get that. ]

[ well. she tried. ]

I have talked enough about myself. Have they done any blood tests for you or did arriving early get me that?
