How did you get into this building? This apartment room? What the fuck is going on? Let's refer back to this page for a semi in-depth, wow so detailed, explanation of your current situation. You'll also have a letter slipped under your door with some explanation about your whole coven situation, as well as info that explains you have magic now! And yet what kind of magic is conveniently left out. Are you up to speed? Great. Now, here's the question of the hour: what are you going to do about all this? A ▢ If you're the sensible sort and want to explore your new digs before slinking around Shehui, you're in luck! You've got easy access to your apartment, and it's luckily not on lockdown right now. Feel free to check out your room, raid the fridge -- oh, and saying hello to your roommates should also be on your to-do list. B ▢ Let's say that hanging out with these people is a little overwhelming...that's fine! There are plenty of things to do in the apartment building without interacting with roomies! There are vending machines to prop up, a leisure floor that contains a totally vacant air hockey table and a nice garden to relax in. C ▢ But ah, there's also venturing outside! Out front is the job board, which is a nice place to hit up if you're looking to add to your currently fat but depleting credit account. The problem is that the jobs are currently disappearing quickly, and those around you aren't giving you such nice looks. This apartment building is a known problem area at this point, and your signet doesn't do anything to settle their fears.

D ▢ With new year's week coming to an end, the residents of Shehui are feeling more celebratory than somber now. A lot of businesses are closed in order to enjoy themselves and ring in the new year the right way. A lot of restaurants and bars are currently offering specials, from free drinks to cheap food in order to pull in the holiday crowd. If you're looking to meet people and socialize in Shehui, this is the best way to do it. E ▢ Also because it's the post holiday season, stores are trying to push out the rest of their overstock merch. One item of note that's being peddled quite often is a cell phone. From tiny flip phones to the latest Orange product, cellphones are a necessity in this modern society. Get yours right now and begin texting right away! There are a few social apps that are installed, so you might be lucky enough to connect with another coven member! They also have Redmolar capability, which will automatically allow you to text those with phones in the area. Maybe send some mysterious stranger texts? F ▢ While you're hustling around Shehui, you may realize that the telepathic messages get stronger -- perhaps the new coven members are near? In general, you may be subject to telepathic messages about current Shehui goings on, random thoughts or requests to meet up at so-and-so location. A.K.A. let's utilize that telepathy...it may not last forever! G ▢ Because the week of remembrance is still going on, flowers are littering the streets, though most of them are dead. Bunches of flowers are being sold, and flower fortunes are a popular activity during this part of the holiday. There are fortune tellers on the street who will give you your flower of the year, but it's more fun to have them read with one another! There are digital cards that you can buy that will allow you to read fortunes on the go -- simply tap the screen of the card and your flower will be decided. Not happy with your choice? Too bad! It won't randomize to something different, no matter how hard you try. H ▢ While a lot of Shehui citizens are trying to avoid the coven members like the plague, a small alien child isn't so much concerned with who helps her, just as long as someone does. She accidentally left her house's door open and her five new kittens are suddenly missing! Where are they? Who knows! But she'd certainly like some help looking for them. I ▢ As the day winds down, snow falls on Shehui for the last time this season. The government is getting rid of their supplies that create the festive weather. This is old hat for older coven members, but for newbies? You better enjoy the snow while you can. After an hour or so, it piles up enough to truly be utilized for merriment...this also means that it's pretty easy to get snowed in if you happen to be in a building during the snow fall, which also creates some interactive opportunities. J ▢ Wildcard! How will your character interact with this new and unusual world?

[Okay. Okay okay okay. Learning that he's both somehow slipped away into a sci-fi leisure city (where magic is apparently real?!?! but banned?!??!?!) AND somehow joined a traveling coven that gave him magic powers!! is... a lot. A LOT. But Keiichi just can't help himself from being distracted by just how COOL this all is. Even forgetting the magic (MAGIC!!), just the technology is awesome! So... yeah, he's definitely going to spend a good chunk of the day familiarizing himself with the city and enthusing over just about everything. But first!]

[If you're one of Keiichi's lucky roommates and hanging around the apartment common areas (or... maybe even your own rooms-- he's pretty loud), you might hear some thumping around and some pretty clear "Woooow!"s and "No way! That's so cool--!"s coming from a previously-unoccupied room before the perpetrator of these NOISE CRIMES comes bouncing out of his room, definitely looking enthused.]

This is my apartment? It's so nice! Wow, I can't believe it--!

[So, maybe a lot of businesses are closed, but Keiichi's goal is DEFINITELY to run all over the city today anyway-- so he's managed to hunt down a few places to grab some groceries and brand new clothes! (He can't just wear his school uniform forever, after all!) But the combination of his many shopping bags and his frequently stopping to gawk and gape at various sights around the city definitely also makes him come across as That Kind of Tourist, particularly when he stops abruptly outside a busy area to enthuse over a cell phone display-- and whoops, did you just bump into each other?]

Oh! Sorry! I'm just standing in the way, aren't I-- I was just looking at the phones! They're so cool! How do they work just by touching the screen like that? It's so neat! Everything here is amazing! I'm still pretty confused, but they provide a lot for us, huh? It's so exciting! Oh! I'm Keiichi Segawa, by the way; what's your name? Are you new too? Oh! Do you live at Complex #43? I just got here myself! It's a little overwhelming!

[And, eventually, after exploring the city, going shopping, and probably signing up for a handful of jobs-- Keiichi's not the type to be put off by menial labor!-- he heads back to the apartment complex to drop off his new things. But, still brimming with NEW WORLD NEW MAGIC NEW EVERYTHING!! energy, he's popped over to the rec floor afterwards, where you might find him checking out a ping pong table, board game cabinet, and so on-- choose your own rec center adventure! Either way, his head is popping up when he notices someone else in the area, and he waves enthusiastically.]

[ This is the first time in Jun's life he has even met anyone so enthusiastic and it blows him away a little?! He just stands there at Keiichi's sudden onslaught, utterly amazed that someone could be so naturally exuberant and engaging.

This isn't something one can fake, but he's going to try and match it anyway. ]

Ah... wow, yeah! I had to get used to the technology levels here too. And, um, I got here a few weeks ago myself... I'm Jun-seo Park.

Nice to meet you! So I guess that's a little new too, huh? How has it been? I'm excited to get settled in! I went and got some groceries and clothes, but it's a little hard to figure out what all we'll need when it's so sudden and some things are already provided, and it sounds like things are a little complicated right now anyway-- but I'm sure it will be fine! Oh! Have you settled in okay?

[He kind of already asked that, but, well, there's a lot to think about, right??]

[ Every time Jun thinks Keiichi is done, he starts again, and he has to struggle to keep up with knowing when to respond. It takes a moment for him to realize NOW IS THE TIME when Keiichi's finished. ]

Y—yes. I found a job fairly quickly, and it didn't take too long to adjust. You seem to have caught on quickly yourself?

[Oblivious, as always, to how he's his own worst enemy as far as getting his questions answered, because he WON'T STOP TALKING.]

Oh, that's great! The job board looked a little sparse when I checked it, but there were still things to do! And I don't mind volunteering or anything like that, either, so I think things should be fine as far as that goes. Oh! Yeah, I talked to a lot of people today! [WHAT A SURPRISE.] I really wanted to figure out everything quickly so I could start helping out! There's still some things I don't understand, but, I'll figure it out! Oh! What job did you find, by the way?

I work at a local bookstore and cafe, as clerk and barista when necessary. I was pretty lucky to find it before the job market plummeted.

[Okuni has had the fortune of sharing her apartment with only one person so far, but she's aware that such peace truly CANNOT LAST despite her best intentions so really... she should be totally resigned at hearing this newcomer. Or who she assumes is a newcomer. Maybe he's just a really incompetent thief???

but he's really loud?? Okuni can deal with loud shrieks of dismay and tragic sobbing, that could be funny, but Keiichi is being CRIMINALLY ENTHUSISASTIC. that's just not right. That doesn't give her anything to work with!

[Okuni puts up her hand as if to say 'STOP', perhaps in an attempt to waylay him before he starts going again, then points hER FINGER AT HIM in pretend high dudgeon...]

You don't really think that's all it's going to take, do you? Do you really expect me to believe that you're my new roommate? We've had suspicious characters force themselves in here before -- very recently, in fact. And that was a terrible experience that I'm not willing to go through again!

[that was the monitor, who didn't so much as shove their way in as they just unlocked the apartment and waved a badge around but shhh Okuni's sure Keiichi doesn't know that... yet]

So I have no intention of believing you without any proof, Segawa-san... if that's even your real name.

[Okuni is just being contrary on purpose???? She's pretty sure only coven members are allowed to live here, seeing as everyone else in the city stays away from them..... and also his name is probably written on his bedroom door but anyway, she hmphs for added drama.]

[Keiichi looks gratifyingly shocked at the accusation, eyes going wide and round with a gasp! But he also seems, well, perfectly sympathetic to her worries and willing to cooperate, even if he's a little panicked by not knowing exactly how to DO that.]

AH! Sorry! That sounds awful! It must have been really scary! Umm, I have my school ID with me if you want to confirm my name, but I'm not really sure how to prove I'm supposed to be here...! I just sort of showed up, so even I don't know why or how I'm here, other than what was on that letter!

[unfortunately, Vern is 1. kind of bad at getting out of the way in time, and 2. also still kind of bad at social graces. he looks at Keiichi like a deer in headlights in the wake of that question tornado, and then just shakes his head, trying to get a poker face back in place]

[Keiichi grins sheepishly for a moment, rubbing the back of his head self-consciously, but then perks right back up as he keeps talking-- though not exactly at the same level of intensity, thank god.]

Oh! Sorry! Sometimes I run my mouth too much, haha. It's nice to meet you too! I'm trying hard to get settled in, so I can start helping everyone out, but I might be missing stuff just because everything's so cool-- oh! Do you know a good place to start?

[WELL. THAT'S NEW. He flusters speechlessly (you did it! you did it!) for a moment before taking a step back to pull out of her grip, cupping a hand over his mouth as he says a muffled:]

[That's a little better. She feels a small sense of satisfaction at seeing him flustered and puts a hand on her hip, drawing herself up as tall as possible.]

So long as you recognize your misconduct, I shall overlook it. Silence. [Her finger taps after each word, enunciating them.] Is. Golden.

[He nods and uncovers his mouth!]

Right, right! I'm new-- I guess that's obvious, huh?-- so I'm still pretty overwhelmed by all this! I--

[He stops abruptly, seeming to catch himself about to go off again-- the literally pinching his mouth shut was PRETTY EFFECTIVE-- and just grins at her slightly sheepishly.]

[ Now, this was all new even for Siegfried, but practicality called for the need to purchase items of necessity. So he was taking in his surroundings, and then it seems they've collided with each other.

At the other male's rambling, Siegfried could only crack a bit of a smile. He's not even been here for that long and already he's met someone who reminds him of someone he knows. ]

You can call me Siegfried. Well, it's certainly quite a lot to take in -- they don't even have 'phones' where I come from.

[Ohhh!! Keiichi knew that there were people from not-modern, not-Earth worlds here, but it's so exciting to hear about! Even though if in this case it's probably made it pretty confusing for this guy Siegfried.]

Oh! Really?! Yeah, that must really be a lot to adjust to! We have them where I'm from but they're a lot smaller and not as cool. Oh! But it's nice to meet you, Siegfried-san! Did you just get here as well? I hope you don't mind me saying, but if you need help with any of the technology stuff I can try! We're all sort of a team as long as we're here, right?

I have, and judging from what you said just a bit earlier, we seem to be in the same boat regarding our status as new arrivals.

[ He confirms with a gentle tone, and with the offer of assistance, he doesn't give it a second thought. ]

It'd be best if we did work together, and I would appreciate the help. I'm sure I could acclimate to it sooner than later, so there's no need to worry about a slow learning curve on my part.

[Yay, he accepted! Keiichi likes to help people, but since he's new himself and this guy is older, he didn't know if it would be presumptuous-- but Siegfried seems so nice!!]

I might not know myself since some of it's new for me too, but I might have an easier time figuring things out since I'm at least kind of familiar. How are you feeling getting settled in? Well, it is 'a lot', but I don't think it'll be too difficult to get used to it. I imagine there are others who are actually overwhelmed with all of this. I'd also ask you how you feel about settling in, but... you seem to be eager to do just that. Or am I wrong?
