How did you get into this building? This apartment room? What the fuck is going on? Let's refer back to this page for a semi in-depth, wow so detailed, explanation of your current situation. You'll also have a letter slipped under your door with some explanation about your whole coven situation, as well as info that explains you have magic now! And yet what kind of magic is conveniently left out. Are you up to speed? Great. Now, here's the question of the hour: what are you going to do about all this? A ▢ If you're the sensible sort and want to explore your new digs before slinking around Shehui, you're in luck! You've got easy access to your apartment, and it's luckily not on lockdown right now. Feel free to check out your room, raid the fridge -- oh, and saying hello to your roommates should also be on your to-do list. B ▢ Let's say that hanging out with these people is a little overwhelming...that's fine! There are plenty of things to do in the apartment building without interacting with roomies! There are vending machines to prop up, a leisure floor that contains a totally vacant air hockey table and a nice garden to relax in. C ▢ But ah, there's also venturing outside! Out front is the job board, which is a nice place to hit up if you're looking to add to your currently fat but depleting credit account. The problem is that the jobs are currently disappearing quickly, and those around you aren't giving you such nice looks. This apartment building is a known problem area at this point, and your signet doesn't do anything to settle their fears.

D ▢ With new year's week coming to an end, the residents of Shehui are feeling more celebratory than somber now. A lot of businesses are closed in order to enjoy themselves and ring in the new year the right way. A lot of restaurants and bars are currently offering specials, from free drinks to cheap food in order to pull in the holiday crowd. If you're looking to meet people and socialize in Shehui, this is the best way to do it. E ▢ Also because it's the post holiday season, stores are trying to push out the rest of their overstock merch. One item of note that's being peddled quite often is a cell phone. From tiny flip phones to the latest Orange product, cellphones are a necessity in this modern society. Get yours right now and begin texting right away! There are a few social apps that are installed, so you might be lucky enough to connect with another coven member! They also have Redmolar capability, which will automatically allow you to text those with phones in the area. Maybe send some mysterious stranger texts? F ▢ While you're hustling around Shehui, you may realize that the telepathic messages get stronger -- perhaps the new coven members are near? In general, you may be subject to telepathic messages about current Shehui goings on, random thoughts or requests to meet up at so-and-so location. A.K.A. let's utilize that telepathy...it may not last forever! G ▢ Because the week of remembrance is still going on, flowers are littering the streets, though most of them are dead. Bunches of flowers are being sold, and flower fortunes are a popular activity during this part of the holiday. There are fortune tellers on the street who will give you your flower of the year, but it's more fun to have them read with one another! There are digital cards that you can buy that will allow you to read fortunes on the go -- simply tap the screen of the card and your flower will be decided. Not happy with your choice? Too bad! It won't randomize to something different, no matter how hard you try. H ▢ While a lot of Shehui citizens are trying to avoid the coven members like the plague, a small alien child isn't so much concerned with who helps her, just as long as someone does. She accidentally left her house's door open and her five new kittens are suddenly missing! Where are they? Who knows! But she'd certainly like some help looking for them. I ▢ As the day winds down, snow falls on Shehui for the last time this season. The government is getting rid of their supplies that create the festive weather. This is old hat for older coven members, but for newbies? You better enjoy the snow while you can. After an hour or so, it piles up enough to truly be utilized for merriment...this also means that it's pretty easy to get snowed in if you happen to be in a building during the snow fall, which also creates some interactive opportunities. J ▢ Wildcard! How will your character interact with this new and unusual world?

Oh, that's great! The job board looked a little sparse when I checked it, but there were still things to do! And I don't mind volunteering or anything like that, either, so I think things should be fine as far as that goes. Oh! Yeah, I talked to a lot of people today! [WHAT A SURPRISE.] I really wanted to figure out everything quickly so I could start helping out! There's still some things I don't understand, but, I'll figure it out! Oh! What job did you find, by the way?

[ Phew. Okay. Jun can do this. He's getting an idea of this guy's pacing. ]

I work at a local bookstore and cafe, as clerk and barista when necessary. I was pretty lucky to find it before the job market plummeted.

Oh, yeah, that sounds nice! I was a little worried some of the jobs would be weird, since it's an alien planet and everything, but it all seems pretty accessible so far! Um, do you mind if I ask what happened with the job market and some of the tension and everything? I've asked around, but no one seems to want to talk about it much, and I've gotten sort of different answers...

[His signet is covered by the collar and tie of his school uniform, but, well, Keiichi's not exactly acting like someone that was EXPECTING to take a fun vacation to Shensui, so...]

Well... first of all, there's the holidays. If you haven't noticed, there's some sort of festival for remembering the dead in the New Year going on right now? So I don't doubt that's a part of it.

As for the tension, you've heard magic is outlawed, right? So it hasn't made us very welcome recently, especially since there was a big explosions with some fireworks recently. It's made people wary.

[Keiichi's habitual smile turns-- abruptly a little pained when Jun describes the festival, but he nods and thoughtfully considers the rest.]

Oh, is that what happened... I saw the flyers and everything, but no one was really saying much about why people were suspicious! I guess if they thought we had interrupted an important festival like that... Well, I'm glad they let me in anyway, at least! It seems like a really nice place to stay, even if things are a little weird right now.

[ That's a natural response, and one that makes Jun smile at Keiichi reassuringly. Of course, he's not sure if he should mention how the society here is a bit too authoritarian and capitalist, but maybe that's something for Keiichi to figure out himself. ]

Hopefully things will be resolved soon. Though apparently we might not be here for long anyway.

[Look as long as it's not getting destroyed by earthquakes on the daily Keiichi's cool. Aaand yeah, that's enough of dwelling on the less positive aspects of the place anyway, so he takes the conversation in a more upbeat direction!]

Yeah! Things should settle down as long as there's no more trouble. If the biggest issue right now is having to take smaller jobs, that's not bad at all! Oh! Thanks for answering my questions, by the way! I'm glad we can all count on each other a little bit when we're trying to adjust to somewhere new! It's exciting, but a little hard too, so!

That's good to hear! And kind of surprising! I wasn't sure what to expect when I got filled in on the city and the co-- um, our group, but it seems a little bit like living in a normal city so far! I may have gotten it easy, as far as timing for showing up. Lucky!

[He lowers his voice to... what is still a pretty loud whisper. He's trying, okay.]

Though it is kind of sad not to be able to find out what my power is right away... But I'm sure it'll be cool! And I'm really excited to have something no matter what!

[ Well. Okay. Lowering his voice. Jeez, Keiichi's pace is difficult to keep up with, but Jun will not give in ]

You must be one of those people it'll come slow to... there's a few who don't realize right away what powers they have, but you should instinctually come to realize it at some point.

Oh! Really?! So I'll be able to find out without breaking the rules! That's great! I had no idea! I'm just a little slow--! That makes sense, since my home is totally normal and everything, we don't have anything like that at all! Wow, that's such a relief!

[...And after that outburst, he seems to realize that he forgot to whisper and was basically yelling about magic in the middle of a bustling crowd, and looks a little abashed.]

Ah, don't worry about that, they've pretty much figured stuff out anyway... you just might not get as friendly as a reception as you did before.

Oh, well, that's okay! So we're not really hiding it, but we still shouldn't use it or draw attention... That's fine. I'm just glad I won't have to wait until whenever we move to know; it was driving me crazy not getting to try it out! Oh! What's yours, then?

Oh! Really? I just think it's really exciting! Oh, or, if you mean us being trouble, then that just really doesn't seem so bad. If people are just a little cold toward us I can handle that! I mean, if they really think we might be terrorists then they're actually being pretty nice about it, when it comes down to it, haha...

[ So... so positive. It's astounding. Jun just... laughs along. Hahaha...! Because absolutely the coven totally doesn't do and hasn't discussed terrorist like activities!!! ]

So! Even though it's totally crazy and overwhelming, there's just as much good as bad, right? So I'll take it! If I'm here anyway I'm going to make sure it's a good experience! I have magic powers!

[ Jun has no idea how to handle this. He can't relate at all. Is this some sort of coping mechanism? It's gotta be, right? No one this positive can exist. Or... maybe he's just the one fucked up and surrounding himself with equally messed up people...? That is also a very valid possibility. Maybe he should distance himself now before ruining a good thing.

The only question is how to disengage and escape this too high level boss. His mind scrambles, and he becomes more aware that he should say something, so he'll just... blurt out the first thing he can. ]

[That comment does seem to surprise him a little, as accurate as it is, and his response is a little more mellow-- still smiling and upbeat, but with the intensity dialed down.]

Oh! Well... I try to be! Things can really get you down if you let them, so, I'd rather always be moving forward, you know...?

Right? It's so strange... to think that things like magic are real in other places. I'm sure there's downsides to living in a place like that too, but-- I'm happy with it! Once we're allowed to use it again, I'll try and practice a lot to get better!
