a. she has never seen snow in her life

[While 2B is aware that the sudden winter is artificially generated, it's still something of a marvel to her. Actually experiencing winter. Coming from a world where the planet was tidal-locked, she's never experienced anything aside from a daytime temperate climate. Aimintas had shown her rain and night, and the Hub island showed her a tropical summer and storm. For Shehui, the weather wonder is snow.

And it really is a wonder to her, even if the cold of winter doesn't really affect her much. Having seen a good number of people bundling up in layers and layers of clothing, she appreciates being an android here if only to be spared the inconvenience.

There are a few days where she can be found outside just. Sitting on a bench, looking up at the sky (despite her goggles making it look like she's blindfolded) to watch the snow drift down. For something so simple, you'd think she'd get bored of it, but no, she watches it with the same sort of quiet awe every time. On another day though, her quiet time watching is a bit interrupted as there are a few kids playing in the park in front of her. Throwing snowballs, making snowmen, the works. If you happen to be nearby when they're making snow angels though, she'll turn from her seat to ask you:]

Do you know what they're doing? [She's seen snowballs and snowmen by now, but this is new to her.]

b. happy holidays, you get 2Booty

[It's a good thing the holiday mascot job doesn't really require speaking (or if it does, 2B's employees have frankly given up on getting her to recite the script with any cheer). She doesn't mind being stuck inside a giant reindeer suit, but she doesn't really understand how something like this is supposed to help encourage holiday spirit. Or entice people into buying a store's wares. Even if her employers told her the first part was the most important part, she has a feeling they'd be happier if she was telling people who passed by about their "great deals." That wasn't part of the job description on the board though, so.

Here she is, standing around somewhat stiffly and awkwardly outside a store in a giant reindeer costume. She waves back to kids who wave at her at least, but it's pretty clear from posture alone how confused she is by the job. If you're staring at her in amusement or confusion, well. She'll give a wave back at least.

Although that's not even close to how confused she is once the job's done. Given the suit, she figured coming dressed in her standard uniform would be more of a hassle than not, so she's dressed in only the baby blue t-shirt she got from 9S and her really high-cut leotard. It seemed like the most convenient way of dressing when she knew she'd be stuck in a giant animal suit for hours. Of course, the minute she steps out of the store's dressing room, her employers look. A little shocked. When she gets out of the store, it seems like there isn't a person who passes by that doesn't gawk or slow down to look at her.

And she. Really doesn't get it.]

Maybe it's because I'm not dressed for the weather...?

c. four months in and she's still trying to figure out "fun"

[Because if it doesn't involve fishing, she's frankly at a loss.

Honestly, there's a big part of her that thinks her time would be spent better and more productively at the dozens of jobs she's picked up. On the other hand, she thinks it's become somewhat necessary to expand her ideas and opinions on what counts as fun, if only for when people want to hang out with her. That in itself is still somewhat bizarre to her, but she thinks she should be able to offer more than just taking walks and fishing.

So here she is at the casino/arcade combo, looking somewhat bewildered as she takes in all the games and sights. There's a lot to pick from, which is probably a good thing since that means there's options, but. She doesn't even know where to begin with this.]

Excuse me. [Hope you're ready to spend some time answering questions from an android...] Which of these games would you say is the most fun?

Hm. Alright.

[It seems like a sort of strange request, but she can't see any reason not to go along with it. Extending one gloved hand towards Geir, she pets him gently on the nose. Using her magic on the Hug Island definitely helped her get acquainted with petting gently.]

You're definitely warm, but not too warm for me either.

Uh-huh. So, there you go. I'm not lizard nor furry beast.

[Geir leans into the pat for a moment -- he always enjoys contact. then he tilts his head to glance back at the children making snow angels; they're done with that, by now, and have replaced it with running around and screaming and throwing snow at each other.]

...guess that the snow fish are all done, huh...

For now, at least. [But after a moment:] We could always make our own, if you wanted more.

[.... Although that might be a bit harder for Geir than it would be for her.]

Hahaha! Do you want to try? We could see what shapes would come out.

[Geir at least is comfortable with the idea of stranger-than-usual snow angels. or snow fish, as it were. in his case it would definitely be a snow serpent or snow whale.]

Hm... I guess it wouldn't hurt to try.

[It's not like she has a reason not to and all. With that though, she unceremoniously falls back to lie down in the snow. There's something oddly pleasant about lying down like this, just seeing the sky above and the snow as it continues to drift gently downwards.

Although she can still see Geir, given his towering height and all. Still, not a bad sight.]

It's more comfortable than I would've imagined. [She may or may not be getting caught up in just enjoying lying down in snow.]

[Geir peers upside-down down into her face, oddly charmed by her flumph straight backwards.]

You really weren't worried about the cold, were you? You went all in.

It's like I said. The cold here doesn't bother me that much.

[When you've flown through the vacuum of space, snow probably wouldn't seem that cold in comparison.]

No kidding.

[Geir enjoys watching her example for a couple more moments, then moves aside far enough that there's a clear space for him and carefully lowers himself to the ground, curling up. it's just a preparation for the next step, when he keeps coiling over and over on himself till he's upside down and can fully sprawl out, opening his wings in the snow under him. the effect on the snowy landscape is enormous and extremely stupid looking.]

Ha--!

[It's... certainly unlike anything she's seen before. Especially since she's still lying down in the snow, Geir makes for even more of a sight than usual.]

Are you enjoying yourself? [He seems like he's having fun at least.]

Yeah! This is fun! I see why they were doing it.

[he WRIGGLES in the snow, dragging his wingstips through it in strange patterns.]

It just feels silly, doesn't it?

[She tries moving her limbs the same way she saw the kids doing earlier, and then experimentally tries just moving any way. She's probably not making a fish like this, oops.]

It does. [after a beat:] I haven't had many chances to just feel silly though, so it's not bad.

Not a lot of silliness near Qri, or not a lot back home...?

[Geir sprawls out further, enjoying the chill against his back. he closes his eyes, simply reveling in the stillness for a moment.]

Not a lot back home. There wasn't any time to.

[Or interest really, but how could she have time or interest when there was a war to fight? While, she wouldn't say she's necessarily interested now either, just having the opportunity to indulge a bit is something she hasn't really had before.]

What were you doing that kept you so busy...?

[the view of the sky like this is so odd; it's not like Geir lays upside-down very often. it's a strange dizzying view.]

Fighting. There was a war going on.

[Even though there was never any snow, she remembers seeing skies like this back home every so often, skies turned gray from all the dirt and ash kicked up by the fighting.]

Oh. I guess there were a lot of those in different places.

[there were wars at home too, he knows, though he never saw them personally. the wars of humans; Vern told him about them.]

That's what it seems like. I guess humans always have reasons to fight. [A pause, and then:] Although no one was human in my war.

I don't know much about human wars. Only what Vern's told me. Who were you fighting if not humans? Other robots-- um, is it androids?

[his experience with Nines says that's sensitive vocabulary.]

[shaking her head] They weren't other androids, although calling them robots isn't wrong either.

[She appreciates the attempt at a distinction at least. While she knows that few people outside of their world would have little reason to mark the difference between androids and machines, she still can't help but feel that difference is important.]

We called them machine lifeforms.

What's the difference? What were you fighting about...?

[it's all rather bewildering to Geir. were they fighting over-- land? territory? fishing grounds, for 2B? those are all the normal things.]

[If only it was as simple as fishing grounds tbh.]

The planet, in a sense. The machines were sent by aliens who invaded Earth and drove humanity off of it. Androids were fighting to reclaim the planet so that humanity could return home in peace.

[Granted, it all turned out to be a lot more complicated than that, but that's what they were told they were fighting for. That's what she believed her whole life there.]

[Geir tilts his head, trying to imagine it. humans always live on Midgard, and others live elsewhere; this is a very strange invasion. sort of like the giants coming to take back the world, he supposes.]

Where were the humans, then?

On the moon.

[Now that she has a chance to think about it, she has no idea if that really would've made a good place to hide regardless. That's just the way things were though, so she never thought much about it.]

Oh! Did you visit them there?

[Geir's reminded suddenly that he wanted to visit the moon. he still does! maybe there'll even be someone to visit there, according to 2B.]

[She shakes her head.]

There was no time to. Besides, I never actually expected to meet any of them.
